Race-hustling over Haiti

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 5, 2010 02:16 PM

Here’s your Race Hustler of the Week. Grievance-mongering bean-counter John Conyers can’t help himself.

Via The Hill, h/t BlogProf:

Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) has called on Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to demote the official coordinating Haiti relief efforts for not having enough minority staffers.

The House Judiciary Committee Chairman sent a letter to Clinton on Thursday after Rajiv Shah, administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development, showed up at a meeting with the 42-member Congressional Black Caucus without any African American staffers in tow.

“I was alarmed and chagrined to learn that none of the approximately dozen staff he brought with him were African American,” Conyers wrote in the letter. “This is so serious an error in judgment that it warrants his immediate demotion to a subordinate position at AID.”

Conyers is set to lead a congressional delegation to Haiti on Friday, his first visit to the island country since a massive earthquake destroyed much of the impoverished nation.

You know, the people suffering in Haiti don’t seem to care one bit what the skin colors of their care-givers and rescuers are.

good, this is a better place for my Chuck Todd (R’s are racist) post.

The only people who see race are those with an axe to grind. It’s not enough that a bunch of white people sent their green dollars to help the effort. . . they want to make race an issue.

They always want to make race an issue. I commented that on Matthews last night, Chuck Todd said that Republicans wanted Rubio to win in Fl because they wanted to add diversity to the all white Republican Senate.

I had no idea Rubio wasn’t white, nor did it matter to me. And further, from what I understand, most of the Republican establishment want Crist to win. Maybe Todd is throwing this out there so he can call the R establishment racist for not supporting Rubio.

I have no idea. There is a fascination with race in this country that isn’t helpful to anything. Every race in America has more opportunity here than anywhere. That should be celebrated.

There are some missions like Double Harvest that have been working in Haiti for 30 or 40 years helping the people and already have an infrastructure on the ground. You don’t hear much about them in the MSM – or Foxnews for that matter.

They’re creating the jobs and teaching the Haitians to help themselves using the method that Bill Clinton recently hijacked as his own idea and is taking credit for.

No, Big John could take his little bride with him to Haiti. She pled guilty in June of ’09 but is now not scheduled for sentencing until March, maybe. The judge has delayed sentencing three times, “in the interest of justice”. She is not very bright and learned nothing from Big John, sold a $1.5 billion sludge contract for a $6000 bribe. What a piker. He should probably take Monica with him. Afternoon delight amongst the rubble is still better than those conjugal visits in the trailers parked next to the exercise yard that he will be pulling for the next three years.

They may never have been held nor cuddled by a white person and understand absolutely nothing that person is saying to them. I’m not sure this is a good thing. I can only hope the love and nurturing of the American white people will win out. It’s interesting because it takes an act of Congress for anyone outside the Native American community to adopt one of theirs. Right or wrong, good or bad, they protect their community, it’s communal ties, and ultimately it’s children.
