Read Obama’s lips: Don’t believe anything that passes his lips

Well, he broke his no-middle-class-tax-hike pledge more than a year ago with the passage of the massive S-CHIP expansion funded with regressive skyrocketing tobacco tax increases. But never mind the pesky little details. President Obama now wants you to know he’s “agnostic” on breaking that pledge (again). This time, he’ll just blame it on the sham deficit commission he wants to set up as fall guys.

Via Bloomberg:

President Barack Obama said he is “agnostic” about raising taxes on households making less than $250,000 as part of a broad effort to rein in the budget deficit.

Obama, in a Feb. 9 Oval Office interview, said that a presidential commission on the budget needs to consider all options for reducing the deficit, including tax increases and cuts in spending on entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

“The whole point of it is to make sure that all ideas are on the table,” the president said in the interview with Bloomberg BusinessWeek, which will appear on newsstands Friday. “So what I want to do is to be completely agnostic, in terms of solutions.”

Obama repeatedly vowed during the 2008 presidential election campaign that he would not raise taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 and households earning less than $250,000 a year. When senior White House economic adviser Lawrence H. Summers and Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner suggested in August that the administration might be open to going back on that pledge, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs quickly reiterated the president’s promise.

In the interview, Obama said that putting preconditions on the agenda of a bipartisan advisory commission, which he said he would soon establish, would just undermine its purpose.

“What I can’t do is to set the thing up where a whole bunch of things are off the table,” Obama said. “Some would say we can’t look at entitlements. There are going to be some that say we can’t look at taxes, and pretty soon, you just can’t solve the problem.”

Thanks for the advice, Captain Obvious!

First and foremost the first yr he (Obama) must be neutralized by not passing any legislation… second congress must take it’s power back by putting an end to his back door executive order signing…

Agreed. The next President and Congress need to also shut down back door unionization of private businesses by State governments. Just saw a story by John Stossel…. Later, time to eat supper.

Saw a headline today about the billions that would be raised if tobacco taxes were raised to a dollar a pack.

Didn’t mention the local taxes already confiscated.

Seemed like a trial balloon kind of article.

I actually have Obama and his tobacco tax to thank for my switch to e-cigs last year. I will no longer be sending $1,200 in taxes to the feds and my state per year. My lungs, my husband and my dogs thank him as well.

The S-Chip funded by tobacco taxes is an obvious failure. When initial smoke taxes were imposed, Muslim terrorists were illegally selling cigs across state lines and sending profits to the terrorist Palestinians. They’ll just set up shop again and send the money to Al Queda operatives here and abroad. When you raise taxes on a certain industry, that economy goes underground and creates criminal enterprises. The Eric Holder fumbling feds will bypass the Muslims and prosecute the caucasian dude bumming a cig to a buddy outside a house party.

No surprise here–good financial analysis showed that the only way enough taxes could be collected was by taxing everyone making more than $44K a year. And that complete confiscation of all income from the “rich” (people and businesses making over $250K a year) could not generate enough revenue to pay for his wild spending plans.

This analysis was done early in 2008 when Comrade Obama was a candidate. It doesn’t matter what he said or if he lied or not–the numbers told the truth. Only stupid people believed him–they thought he would only “redistribute” (aka steal) other people’s money–not theirs.

You fools have forgotten the most important thing the Democrats have failed to tax: our internal organs! Yes, they will start harvesting blood and other tissues at an alarming rate to fund The Obamian Utopia (PBUH). Those who don’t survive the harvesting procedure will be transported to Soylent Green Centers for processing into SG food cakes. All things and contingencies have been considered and nothing is off the table. All hail the wisdom of our Progressive Leaders in advancing the cause of social justice and a Neo-Progressive Uber-World! (I am shuddering in orgasmic glee at the thought of our coming bliss>)
