Larry “O’Scary” O’Donnell melts down again
Yep, MSNBC’s Larry O’Donnell had another unhinged cable TV moment today. He’s been screaming on the airwaves for years. Joe Scarborough called the latest outburst on his show “psycho talk.”
Been there, done that. Again and again and again.
Remember this (transript here and non-apology apology here)?

And this via Allahpundit circa 2007?

First he identifies Cho’s weapons as automatic, i.e., capable of firing repeatedly so long as the trigger is held down. Wrong: both were semi-automatics, requiring a fresh trigger pull for each shot. Then he repeats the media canard about the purported ban on “high-capacity magazines” that expired when the assault-weapons ban lapsed three years ago. Wrong again: as Bob Owens explains, the AWB merely banned the manufacture of those magazines. Sale, purchase, and ownership of inventory that was already on the market all remained perfectly legal. (According to Wikipedia, Dylan Klebold used three high-capacity magazines during the Columbine massacre, which occurred while the AWB was in effect.) In fact, irrespective of what type of weapon was used, O’Donnell’s simply wrong when he describes Cho as “spraying bullets”: survivors say he was methodical, returning to some classrooms after he had left to work his way through the aisles and pump bullets into the wounded at close range.
So misinformed is he that I’m tempted to assume it’s willful. But I’m sure it isn’t — if the left’s leadership on gun control doesn’t know what it’s talking about, why should a B-list pundit like Scary Larry? Besides, he may be an ignoramus but he emotes wonderfully. Not since his infamous appearance on Dennis Miller’s old show with the late, great Cathy Seipp have neck veins throbbed quite so righteously.
And who can forget the infamous neck-vein-popping moment on the Dennis Miller show when O’Donnell — nicknamed “Larry O’Scary” by the late, great blogger Cathy Seipp — lost it over public school teachers?

Seipp wrote at the time:
If someone can get me an image of “West Wing” producer Laurence O’Donnell’s forehead veins popping as he screams at me on Dennis Miller this evening, I’d love to use it as an illustration tomorrow. I’d heard something about his reputation as a Boston Brahmin/faux populist asshole, but really, what an amazing meltdown this was, brought on by bascially nothing. I mean, I’m not exactly Swift Boat veteran John O’Neill, whom O’Donnell famously called “a filthy liar!!” on Scarborough Country before the election.
I’m curious to see how it looks on TV. Sitting there on the Varsity, what I noticed was that O’Donnell actually puffed out his chest, stuck out his manly jaw and sat up extremely straight as he started yelling—I suppose so I could get the full effect of just how much taller he is than me. And how about that “I’m a Lumberjack, and I’m OK” outfit he had on? Maybe O’Donnell was on edge from Dennis looking at him just before the cameras rolled and remarking: “What, are you dating Rock Hudson now?”
The man is still in need of intensive psycho-therapy. TV exposure is not helping.

I am surprised that MSNBC is still there, with NO ratings for a long time.
That’s the problem with psychiatric medicine–you have to actually take it to get a benefit.
Just wait until November.
Errah, Does MSNBC HR Dept stand outside mental hospitals with job applications??!!, Chris Matthews, F Chuck Todd, Olberman, Andrea Mitchell and the angriest man in the news biz, Rachel Madcow.
I prefer MSNBC hire more folks like the OD dude…. Maybe ABC and CBS too?
Best thing that can happen is when the left does stuff like this to themselves. We want MORE of this kind of thing, not less.
Must be a genetic thing with folks named “O’Donnell” … Larry and Rosie … what a pair that is …
Neither of them has ever let anything as silly as facts get in the way of their outrageous diatribes …
In Spanish, we would call him, el loco mas loco.
That loosely translates to, that is one crazy b*stard!
Errah
Wow! Every time I think he has reached maximum jerkitude, he proves me wrong.
Kudos to Scarborough for taking back control of his show and booting O’Donnell.
He should be in Hollywood with acting like that..
What he needs is a large sock inserted firmly and deeply into the gaping hole on his face. Psycho-therapy assumes he still has some semblance of functioning brain calls.
The twit reminds me of that other jerk Grayson
O’Donnell belongs in a mental institution.
Agreed. Watching people like Lanny Davis or Robert Gibbs with their smug dishonesty isn’t nearly as rewarding as watching O’Donnell letting it all hang out.
I remember years ago when little Larry lost bladder control with John O’Neill and being so upset I wrote emails to MSNBC.
Today it seems a lot of the left act as he does. Hey, we need to step aside and let them blow. They look like fools and for the first time it seems America is awake and watching.
As the late, great Tony Snowe would say, “Larry needs a hug and a cookie.”
Morons like this, Olberman and Grayson are God’s gift to conservatism.
I wonder what his real problem is. His reactions are far too extreme for their not to be some underlying psychological disorder he is dealing with. Do those close to him have restraining orders in place?
How small does a TV audience have to be before it starts being referred to as a cult?
Notwithstanding the history of Larry O’Donnell and his outburst, I would have liked to have heard a response to the question.
It is a matter of consistentcy. The author contends that Pres Obama is invitng an attack because of what he is, or is not, doing. It is consistent to ask, did Pres Bush invite an attack because of what he did, or did not, do?
Why is it OK to say one and not the other invited an attack?
For the record, I do not believe any President would invite an attack. To suggest that any President would invite an attack is heinous beyond belief.
The author makes an assertion about Pres Obama, and Larry O’Donnell’s question is, being aware of the events and intelligence leading up to September 11, 2001, can the same assertion be made of Pres Bush.
O’Donnell’s conduct is only part of the story. Scarborough’s going off air is another part of the story. (Has that ever happened before, especially when he goes off on a rant?) The story is incomplete until the author addresses the question.
Bill O’Reilly “Are You A Socialist”
Under the Pink. Green Is The New Pink. Who is behind “Climate Change Agenda”
Is O’Donnell, like other MSNBC on air personalities at MSNBC, pushing AGW? NBCU a subsidiary of GE, does anyone ever hear a disclosure from MSNBC’s employees, when they bloviate on “Climate Change” ???
I have caught Brewer, Olbermann and Maddow pushing this agenda on air, but never a mention that GE their parent company would benefit from Cap and Trade.
This dude is as irrelevant as Janine Garafolo, Joy(less) Blowhard, Rosie O’Donnell or any # of liberal gasbags that recycle over and over again on TV or the internet. It just really serves as a constant reminder of the uber-immaturity level of liberals who, when confronted with actual facts to rebut their sophomoric arguments, resort to bullying, taunting and name calling. How 3rd grade of them.
Watching O’Donnell melt down will help convince many Americans that the liberals are all dangerous nutcases. Unfortunately I have repeatedly seen people like O’Reilly, Ingraham and sometimes Hannity do the same (or similar) to their guests and have largely turned them off for this reason. I have to wonder why people agree to appear on their shows when they are repeatedly shouted down and interrupted . It used to provide some satisfaction and entertainment value to see leftists abused but it gets old and it makes conservatives appear as unhinged as liberals are in reality. I’d rather hear what the guest has to say then watch the host tear them apart point by point, which does happen on occasion. Maybe more difficult that shouting but far more effective at winning converts.
Hahaha – Dennis Miller, I hope you’re reading this – that’s classic.
I wonder where he gets his hair dyed?
I agree with you, but apparently a lot of people don’t, given that O’Reilly’s show has the highest audience of any news/talk TV show.
LOD; Keep up the good work pal, you portray the left soooo well. You’re like the gal who was on air america out of New York. What a psycho she is. She makes rosie and garafalo look positively rational.
I don’t know if anyone else noticed but last week when Obama lectured his own party to ignore the echo chambers on TV and the blogs, a few of the Dems shouted out specific channels including Ma’am Boxer who contributed MSNBC. If even the Hollywood Ma’am fins MSNBC offensive, who’s left? Is ANYONE watching anymore?
It is not his fault; when he was little his parents lied to him and told him he was a worthwhile person.
O’Donnell’s insane, right? I mean, he’s already been diagnosed as insane, right?
wow what a complete and utter tool. I’d have walked out about a minute into that nonsense.
PMS-N-BS: The way to dig out of the rating (advertising) slump is doubling down on lunatic preaching to the ever shrinking pool of RETARDS (Rham’s word) who need spoon-feeding of political diet.
DEMOCRATS: The way to dig out of economic recession is to doubling down on spending.
MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves; exploiting someone with obvious mental illness for a few measly ratings points. Shame on them.
I agree he’s just as loony as Olberman, Beck, Hannity and many others. I could literally list dozens from both sides. I’m really sick of all of them and the right & left sites…trying to act all outraged at each other.
psst, most of us in the middle think you are ALL vomit-worthy. Face it, a very small percentage of American citizens are BLINDLY partisan.
My GOD, there’s someone more psychotic on the MSLSD network than Olberdolt ?!?!?!
That should be a cosmic impossibility.
I didn’t realized such pathology could run so deep.
You aught not insult MSNBC’s audience like that — he’s actually not a bad guy.
We seems to be pretty much 40-40 and have been for years. There is no single Great Majority and has not been for a generation.
Beck rocks as does El Rushbo.
It is interesting and highly entertaining watching the post Brown leftards shooting their wounded. John Stewart punking Olberman (with a surprising defense of MM near the end) was a riot.
The best part of this nonsense is the White House accusing FNC of having an “agenda” and not being a real news organization – while accepting the PMSNBC off the scale leftiness – is so transparently biased everyone can see it. Finally, some genuine transparency from Dear Leader.
Larry O’Donnell may or may not be a nice guy. I could not pick him out of a police lineup.
My original comment was directed at MSNBC’s loss of their audience in general. Whatever credibility they once had with conservatives and independents is gone. Their audience now consists of “True Believers” maybe even cultists with a cult being defined as:
A group of persons that idolize another person, philosophy, or activity, that is regarded by with excessive admiration and extreme devotion.
This is the truth about MSNBC regarding our current POTUS, the progressive agenda, and ‘community organizing.”, etc. They are more and more out of the mainstream. Given MSNBC’s is bias their audience is vanishing. How else did “Red Eye’ that airs on FNN at 3am EST beat MSNBC’s prime time line up in the ratings last week? How is that even possible if MSNBC is a credible news network?
If their audience continues to flee, the only viewers that they will have left are the two guys from New Jersey that braid Chris Matthews’ back hair before “Hardball.” (That was meant to be an insult.)
My first thought was, “Why the heck would any sane person go on MSNBC to be “interviewed” by O’Donnell?”
My second thought was, “Why the heck would any sane person watch MSNBC?” It’s like a TV version of the Democratic Underground.
Neither have testicles…but both think they do.
“Hey Barry, got two czar candidates for you…”
What the left does when confronted with their own failures is strike out to kill the messenger to kill the message. It should be no surprise that the co-host feminist on “Mourning Joe” immediately went on the attack and then O’Donnell, seeing the opportunity, followed up with a tirade.
Frankly, O’Donnell was not only protecting “the little professor” but also Mr. Clinton who was directly responsible for the intelligence failures that led to 9/11. What the left wants everyone to forget is that Bush took office late because of the Bush v Gore debacle, the Clintonistas did a great deal of property damage and destruction that further slowed Bush’s ability to operate, and there was absolutely no cooperation in the transition.
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen something as obnoxious as his “interview” with Peter Schiff. I haven’t watched MSNBC in years, I guess that’s why.
Larry who???????
