The Pelosi definition of “bipartisanship”

This is funny.

Here’s the USA Today headline on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s upcoming trip to Haiti:

In the body of the article, we get some details about who’s accompanying Pelosi:

Others…on the trip include Sens. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa; Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J.; Bill Nelson, D-Fla.; Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn.; and George LeMieux, R-Fla. The House delegation includes Reps. John Conyers, D-Mich.; Charles Rangel, D-N.Y.; Jim Oberstar, D-Minn.; Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas; Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore.; Donna Christensen, D-V.I.

So, where’s the “bipartisanship?”

Oh, thatbipartisanship:”

FOXNews.com

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Friday that she is leading a 12-member “bipartisan” congressional delegation to Haiti. The group includes one Republican — outmatched by 11 Democrats.

Though Pelosi’s press release used the word “bipartisan” five times, Florida Sen. George LeMieux is the sole GOP lawmaker in Congress visiting the devastated island nation for what would presumably be a bipartisan cause — assessing ways to help the country recover from its earthquake.

“Bipartisanship” coming out of a politician’s mouth has to be processed through the baloney machine for us to understand. It’s like in 2008 when Giuliani explained to detractors that freedom of speech often means to obey the instructions of your leaders.

It’s that kind of bafflegab that generates the plummeting level of confidence in government that our polls are reporting.

Yet, another mischaraterization. Yes, a mis-representation of the facts to solicit emotional responses.

Absolutely, take Speaker Pelosi to task, and as with every politician, do it with facts and substance.

Speaker Pelosi never suggessted the trip was bipartisan. From the article -

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced she is leading a 12-member congressional delegation to Haiti today.

Should she and a bunch of other politicians take a trip to Haiti for what will amount to a photo op? I don’t expect many of them to get in there and dig, feed, build, wash, etc anything.

They may stand next to some Haitian elected officials and reassure them of our continued support of their country. OK, that is a good thing.

But, to advance the notion of bipartisanship based on a headline that does not reflect what was actually said, is not even intellectually dishonest, it is just plain dishonest.

If they really need to figure out a way to “help the poor people of Haiti”, they could ask the military commanders that are already over there. Those guys are used to writing detailed reports for the honchos in D.C.

It used to be polls consistantly showed the majority disapproved of congress, but the same margin approved of their own congresscritter. A poll released yesterday said only 8% approve of their own reps. HOPE. AND. CHANGE.

I think its indicative of what I posted. There is utter disgust and frustration among the citizens of this country, with the American royalty that sits on high in Washington. Today it was reported on Drudge that:

Behind closed doors and with no cameras present, President Obama signed into law Friday afternoon the bill raising the public debt limit from $12.394 trillion to $14.294 trillion”.

This is suicidal madness. When does it stop?

    …and 2016…

    Get the idea?

    From the USA Today article:

Pelsoi has been out in front in marhsaling support for Haiti. In a House floor speech shortly after the earthquake, she called on international development banks to cancel Haiti’s debt and declared her intention to work in Congress to secure funding for “long-term sustainable development plans for Haiti.”

In other words Nanny is out in front assisting Haiti by:

    1. Calling on banks to give away investor’s money.

    2. Generously supplying taxpayer’s money.

    3. Bringing a load of politicians there on the taxparer’s dime to…?

    4. Of Pelosi’s net worth of $12.5 Mil*, Pelosi will generously…

call on others to sacrifice. Inspiring. Silly me – always thought leadership was by example.

*Pelosi has a vinyard in in northern CA. Reported value – $5 Mil to $25 Mil. If their net worth is $12.5 Mil, they obviously report the 5 Mil figure for taxes. I wish my county would hire her tax assessor.
