I hope no one is surprised by Obama’s thinking he might use executive orders. The left’s view of the Presidency is closer to a king than an elected official of and for the people. The idea that he’d use executive orders to force his will on us and the country is totally consistent with his political philosophy. Just one more reason why we need to do every thing we can to keep the left out of power. They will never go away. But we can make sure the danger that their ideas represent to liberty and freedom never have any power to attempt implementation.

Congratulations, Happy Anniversary…and have a wonderful Valentine’s day! I love hearing how people met their spouses and significant others!! If anyone else wants to share, today would be a good day to do it! I will probably not have much time to communicate today, as our daughter and her husband are spending the day together without their two boys…and guess who has the boys!! Ages 3 and 11 months. We will be busy!!

I met my husband 40 years ago when he lived in an apartment down the hall from me. There was a fire in the building and he ran down the halls getting everyone out. We were married 3 months after that wonderful fire.

Twenty five years ago, I met my wife at a Love’s truck stop on Valentine’s Day. I’ll never forget that moment when she came bouncing into my life. It wasn’t love at first sight, took me 8 months to convince her that we were meant to be together for the rest of our lives. I’m truly blessed to be her husband.

At that time, I was trying to get a Chinese lady, I met in KL (Malaysia) to come to the U.S.. She couldn’t so I ended up with an Indonesian. :)

Lol. Good stories. I was married for a LONGGGG time. That relationship ran its course, terrible in the end. I am now engaged to a delightful southern woman who makes Valentines Day fun again. About a year ago, I came home and she took me to a wall in the house that I had accidentally made a hole in. She said “do you notice anything”? I looked and she had repaired the sheet rock herself, flawlessly. I shook my head and said “a woman that repairs sheet rock?…that’s why I love you!”.

I met the Studmuffin when I brought an aircraft down to Long Island over a July 4th weekend and decided to take the US Commercial FAA groundschool course while I waited for the plane to be done. He was on leave and taking the same class. Having no experience with military, I genuinely thought he was a cancer victim because of his “tactical” haircut.

He likes to tell people we met at an airport.

HI HAPPYSCRAPER #7. My ex-Mexican citizen wife (a long time naturalized U.S. Citizen) and I have been married 40 years also. I met her in Juarez, Mexico, when I was an Army draftee. For some strange reason she had always wanted a Gringo husband. She has always been God’s gift to me–and still loves me.

As far as the fire in your case–and the draft in my case–the Lord works in strange ways. And as the saying goes, “It’s an ill wind that blows no good!”.

We never know how things are going to work our in our lives. But I think that the Lord has a plan for us all. Happy Valentine’s day y’all.

True story, offered in good humor.
A few years ago I was with some guy co-workers, all foreign. One was a christian from Nigeria, two were from India, I was the token American white male. At one point we were on the subject of wives and the phrase “american wife” came up. The conversation stopped and we looked at each other silently, sadly, then smiled. We were all thinking the same thought: few things are more terrifying than the American wife. She strikes fear the world over.

I told him years ago that the things he does everyday, and has done for more than 20 years tells me he loves me more than any gift.

We have two beautiful children and he worked hard so that I could be home with them everyday of their lives. They are both college students now, one graduating this spring, one a freshman.

With them gone, I am able to devote full attention to him now and return all the love he has shown us for all these years.

True. We’ve done pretty much what we’ve wanted to do. The bar life isn’t interesting anymore. Sailing, hiking and tennis gets old. There are grandkids now, who love to be with their grandparents. Perhaps we live vicariously through our grandkids. Old friends mean more now. Some, unfortunately, are gone. Never lonely; priorities are different now.

A pothole in the racetrack? Sounds like a Wreckovery.gov shovel ready porkulous project. The race will resume immediately after Pavers Union 503 pothole patchers are flown in directly from Philly in posh private jets. A bi-partisan engineering task force is formulating patching procedures as we speak, and once the proposed pothole procedure is approved by an emergency congressional committee, procurement for the neccessary materials and equipment will procede without delay.

In the end, the Daytona emergency measures will save or create 625,427.6 jobs, save the polar bears and provide healthcare for a millenium or two at a deficit neutral cost of only $3.47 Gazzillion.

    Enjoy the race!

At least Obama didn’t call up Bill France and offer a stimulus package. Then we would have GNascar. Imagine if the drivers and crews were union? They would start the race, but never finish it, giving up half-way through.

To show how memorable that one was, I think Dale Sr. won the year before instead of that year.

I just remember watching it in Denver because I had been on a road trip for a few months (LA, SD (superbowl weekend – Elway if I recall), Las Vegas. . . etc) and after then I was trying to figure out where to go next. I watched the race and decided to come on home when it was over.

It was 1999, but I think Jeff Gordon won. Not too memorable for a ‘most memorable’.

You’re pretty special too, YTZGal. Had to skip breakfast this morning so I could get some work done in the office and be home before the car race.

You’re making me blush, Grayson, but I thank you for the compliment.

I missed all of you during the PCS and love all of you guys, it helps keep me grounded and realize that conservatives are NOT alone.

I’m lucky enough to have the Studmuffin around for a while longer, (although he’s busy studying Pashto) and cherish every morning I get to wake up and have him at home with us.

Studmuffin isn’t big on crowds, and although he loves eating out, hates the big crowds that are typical of V-day, Mother’s Day, etc.

He’s not a big sports fan, so my Valentine’s Day gift to him was to buy him a ticket to hear Admiral Denton (“When Hell Was in Session”) speak at the Marine Corps (that “core”, not “corpse”, lol) Museum yesterday.

Tonight I’m making duck with raspberry-balsamic reduction and I gave a blood orange pot-au-creme a whirl as a dessert. It has a lovely dark red crimson color.

Nascar….my Dad’s a huge fan and we spent many an hour at tracks. Good memories.

At least you’ve got deluxe. My toughest choices today are a) pepperoni or Mexican and b) trim my toenails tonight or put it off until it’s warm enough to wear sandals.

Twenty years together and we still like to talk. I’ve spent the day reading up on what’s new in archaeology and he planted himself in front of the TV and drooled over Pebble Beach and it’s beauty. Roses and a great breakfast. Lovely!

I see so many sitcoms (which young people think is real life) and their role models are parents that physically and verbally abuse each other. In my world it’s so simple….Don’t yell, belittle, criticize, threaten, nor tell someone what to do, and if you violate the trust they have in you it means you must leave. That works in reverse for both parties. Love, nourish, and respect the bond you have with your chosen partner. I still see my husband as he was when we first met. He must be different but I don’t see it.

Had the baptism of the newest granddaughter today and had everyone over for pulled pork sandwiches and homemade potato salad.

Turned out to be a very good day–especially when your entire family is in church.
