Senator Don’t Call Me Ma’am is in trouble

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 16, 2010 10:44 AM

Maybe, finally, the grating arrogance of Babs Boxer is getting on Californians’ nerves.

Top of the Ticket reports:

For the second straight month the three-term senator is unable to break the 50% mark against any potential Republican opponents, the historical measuring mark of vulnerability for an incumbent nine months before an election.

For a Democrat in a Democrat state that gave Barack Obama 61% of its votes in 2008 (and still likes him more than many other places) to be mired in the mid-40′s is a sign of real trouble. This is especially so given the fact that disgruntled voters gave Democrats control of the House, Senate and White House in 2008, expecting something to….

…happen beyond another congressional payraise. Voters appear to be looking at a the stubborn ineffectiveness of the much-vaunted economic stimulation bill, continued high unemployment and waning Obama approval. It’s not like they don’t know Boxer after all her years in the state’s public life. To help with the warmth of money, Boxer has Al Gore’s headline help fundraising.

Yes, sure, incumbents retain huge powers and money advantages over challengers and it’s a long time until November, when the five-term ex-representative Boxer will turn 70. But nationally, indications are growing that 2010 could be a tidal wave election beyond the usual midterm swing with voters believing in a different kind of change to believe in.

Is it possible they could dump out a Democrat even in California?

Yes, you can!

Back in 1934 (I think that was the year), Dems were in power and people were ticked off. Everyone thought that the GOP was going to have a stellar year. However, the dems had an Ace up their sleeve. They took left over New Deal money, and funneled it to the districts of vulnerable dems in the final 2 weeks of the election. The Dems ended up gaining seats in both the House and Senate.

Flash forward to 2010. The porkulous money is only partially spent. What do you want to bet that the rest of the money gets spent right before these elections. Even Barney Frank was quoted as saying that the most “benefit” will be seen right around the mid-term elections.

Whether 2010 will be 1994 all over again is impossible to say. As I recall 1994 led to considerable disappointment and the dangers to the Republic are far greater now than then. Maybe this time will be different and we will get something more than GBII out of the deal. One can hope.

The Tea Party people need to support DeVore now in the primaries, and beat Fiorina. A three way race will put Boxer back in.

Take back the Republican Party from the squishes, because there won’t be free elections in the Zimbabwe of North America by the time the Tea Party could win as a separate political party.

Back in the day when third parties arose and established parties died off, America hating Marxists who detest small r republican (indirect representative democracy) government with a limited central government weren’t in office.

Obama is an existential threat to this country, and the longer he has majorities in the Senate, and especially if he wins election again in 2012, the greater the chance this country ceases to exist as a free nation.

We need at least one state to put in strict requirements for proving Constitutional eligibility to hold office before being allowed on the ballot. Those requirements should include a definition of “Natural Born Citizen” in the context of Article II, Section 1. A lawsuit over being declared ineligible would get everything out in the open. Which means, Obummer would decide not to run.

Oh, I’m fully aware of de Vattel’s “Laws…”. However, I think the definition needs to be set in black and white in legislation so that there is no doubt about it being law. For example, how much weight do the Federalist Papers carry in court? Maybe a lot… I don’t know. But relying on unofficial sources for what the Founders ‘meant’ is probably not as good as spelling it out in law.

Virginia Patriot: Not quite true. Kids born overseas of two American parents (military brats, like John McCain or children of State Department personnel) are American citizens and eligible to be POTUS. The US determines citizenship by a combination of jus sanguis (rights by blood) and jus soli (rights by where born).

There is a State Department document one must obtain when born to a US citizen overseas and that helps determine your citizenship. Although I have one stating I was born to an American father, I am ineligible to be POTUS because my Mom was not yet a US citizen when I was born — she had the five years of residency necessary and had passed all the tests, she just hadn’t been before the judge and been sworn in as a citizen when she returned to England where I was born. At my majority I had to declare whether I was a US or UK citizen (I had dual citizenship) and I have a US Certificate of Citizenship (not a Certificate of Naturalization, like my Mom) to show how I chose.

My older brother (by 18 months) was born in the US and, although our Mom was definitely not a citizen at the time, he IS eligible to be POTUS.

No question; best line in the movie.

My other favorite is General Ripper’s Message to the Pentagon that includes the phrase, “My boy’s will get this off to the best possible start; 1,400 megatons worth.”

Any learned legal scholars care to answer a nagging question I have? If ‘Bambi runs again and the issue of the dreaded COLB comes up, could he be forced to produce it to re-qualify to run for a second term? His comment about being a great one term prez vs. a mediocre 2 term prez is odd at best, strange at least.

Oh, back on topic – I can only pray they sink an offshore drilling rig right off Santa Barbara just to irritate every single day of her retirement..

*The emphasis for Tea Party activists should be to get DeVore past Fiorina in the primary, then let the chips fall where they may; Death by RINO may not be as painful as death by Democrat, but the country will still be taking a dirt nap, so we must continue to target the rat bastard RINO’s for removal from office on a parallel path with ALL the Democrats being targeted!

    Barbara Boxer Quotes:

“So when you go up against the Far Right you go up against the big financial special interests like the Halliburtons of the world, the big oil companies, the big energy companies who work so hard to rip us off.” — Barbara Boxer

Please don’t call us “the Far Right”, Senator. Call us “Taxpayers”. I think we’ve earned that title.

“Those who survived the San Francisco earthquake said, ‘Thank God, I’m still alive.’ But, of course, those who died, their lives will never be the same again.” — Barbara Boxer

Hmm, has anyone seen Barbara Boxer and Joe Biden in the same room at the same time?

“I would not run for president. I really like what I’m doing now. People say I’m giving them energy and hope.” — Barbara Boxer

Yes you are Senator. You’re giving Californians the energy to get out and vote this November while they hope for change. And I, for one, will be happy to address you as “Former Senator Boxer”. That’s a title you really have earned.

    Conservative response:

“So when you go up against the far left you go up against the big special interests like Government, public interests, labor unions, United Nations supporters, Global Warming nuts, Earth worshipers, Gay lobbyists, shady investment corporations, mainstream media, left wing judges and ACLU lawyers who work so hard to rip us off.”

If they don’t dump the state government and congressmen/senators, there isn’t any sympathy. They’re digging their own grave. Let them lie in it.

Never doubt the ability of the plurality of California voters to do the wrong thing. These are the people who voted in one spending initiative after another making it almost impossible for any future legislature to reign in spending, mandates and truly wacky Green Themes.
While California does have a large-not large enough-Conservative base voter approved Election Reforms and Gerrymandering have isolated and marginalized them to the point of impotence. They flood their state with more and more illegals to push out jobs and productive citizens for a few lousy votes. This is the land of Mayors Antonio Villaraigosa and Gavin Newsom.

I repeat:Never doubt the ability of the plurality of California voters to do the wrong thing. But if “Don’t call me ma’am my husband paid big bucks for this seat” is defeated that would be a good thing.

it will happen. our terminator governor ran as a conservative/republican and ousted a hard core liberal. who knows why the weather or the wife caused him to lose his way?
the ma’am pretends to be senator got her first term by allowing a rumor – circulated by her staff – that her opponent had sex issues. of course she admitted the rumor was false and apologized – after she won election. i hope the dims nominate her to run again. she will be soundly defeated.
