Report: Who are the “Fort Jackson Five?”

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 18, 2010 07:37 PM

Erick Stackelbeck has the exclusive on a disturbing news development at Fort Jackson in South Carolina:

CBN News has learned exclusively that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson in South Carolina were arrested just before Christmas. It is unclear whether the men are still in custody. The five were part of the Arabic Translation program at the base.

The men are suspected of trying to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson.

A source with intimate knowledge of the investigation, which is ongoing, told CBN News investigators suspect the “Fort Jackson Five” may have been in contact with the group of five Washington, DC area Muslims that traveled to Pakistan to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That group was arrested by Pakistani authorities, also just before Christmas.

I get the /sarc, but the truth, of course, is that many of the adherents of the Koran believe that it instructs them to make war, not peace, and it has always been that way.

In 1784, Congress authorized American diplomats John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson to negotiate with the Muslim terrorists. [18] Negotiations proceeded, and in 1786, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson candidly asked the Ambassador from Tripoli the motivation behind their unprovoked attacks against Americans. What was the response?

The Ambassador answered us that it was founded on the laws of their Prophet [Mohammed] – that it was written in their Koran that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners; that is was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners; and that every Musselman [Muslim] who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise. [19]

Would to Heaven we had a navy able to reform those enemies to mankind – or crush them into non-existence.

    - George Washington, Writings, Vol. 28, p. 521, to Marquis de Lafayette, August 15, 1786.

Often the results are public, but not much details are published outside the gate. Of course, the higher-profile cases that “get out early” are followed by gaggles of reporters, for example the Abu-Garib trials held up at Ft. Meade a few years back.

Good local military beat reporters just outside the gates often track these things down first. Not sure how this one came to light.

I know you guys all want this story to be true, but …

    From the Army Times:

The Army is investigating allegations that four or five soldiers training to be translators and interpreters were trying to poison the food supply for Fort Jackson, S.C., officials said.

However, there is no credible evidence to support the allegations, said Patrick Jones, a spokesman for Fort Jackson.

“Allegations were made and the command took it very seriously,” Jones said, adding that Army Criminal Investigation Command was conducting the investigation, which is still ongoing.

“Two months of investigation, there has been no credible evidence to support the allegations,” Jones said.

Jones did not know who reported the allegations or how they came to light.

The soldiers being investigated are not being detained, Jones said, but he did not know if they were still at Fort Jackson or whether they completed their training.

Army Investigates Alleged Attempt by Soldiers to Poison Food at Fort Jackson

The U.S. Army is investigating allegations that soldiers were attempting to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson in South Carolina.

The ongoing probe began two months ago, Chris Grey, a spokesman for the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division, told Fox News.

The Army is taking the allegations “extremely seriously,” Grey said, but so far, “there is no credible information to support the allegations.”

Five suspects, detained in December, were part of an Arabic translation program called “09 Lima” and use Arabic as their first language, two sources told Fox News. Another military source said they were Muslim. It wasn’t clear whether they were still being held.

Grey would not confirm or deny the sources’ information.

Actually, I DON’T CARE if the allegations are true or not. Devout Muslims cannot swear an oath to defend OUR Constitution and remain devoted to Islam–they are mutually exclusive. We just cannot allow practicing Islamists to serve and maintain good order and discipline. They will not serve two masters–they believe they have a DIVINE mandate to kill ALL non-believing people because the Koran tells them to. I smell military cover-up for several reasons, one of them being the time-delay before any of this information got outside the Army. We cannot allow practicing Muslims to serve.

May I ask why you think CBN is the only outlet with the facts in this case? CBN hasn’t exactly been a model of factual reporting. The reaction you got from people has nothing to do with the facts in this case. And the few details we know about this case right now does not support the CBN report in any way.

CBN pulled its report and is now reporting what the Army Times is reporting. No correction. They just deleted the previous report. You guys consider this a news outlet?!? Pathetic.

Fox did mention the story but failed to say it centered around muslims…you just had to use your imagination. Aww, they were just translators. When I got all p@#sy sideways he wanted to know how I knew it was muslims? Well, from what I’ve read the only other group that would speak many of these languages are Jews and our military isn’t real keen on using them for translators. Stupid, stupid policy. We are our own worst enemy.

Greyhawk, over at Mudville Gazette, posts about this, noting two things, the first being:

The words “food poisoning” and DFAC” have been used in the same sentence by soldiers of all (or no) religious persuasions for years.

For his second observation he links to Donald Sensing’s take on it, noting that:

    Donald Sensing is nobody’s fool.

Both links are worth your attention.

I just hope the US Army is watching nuclear ordnance specialists with a bit more scrutiny than they are watching cooks…

I wonder what they will say when a few nuclear warheads go missing or detonate in a US city? My guess is Obama already has a “blue ribbon committee” working that that statement now!

There ought to be a fairly simple way of checking the loyalty of the Jackson 5 and that is by having their translations checked. As bad as the food poisoning incident is, imagine for a moment that the translations are a fabrication that will lead our troops into the teeth of the enemy oversees. The Army is rightfully cautious here but there is a great difference between exoneration and “no credible evidence so far”.
