Bernie Sanders: Reconciliation-mania!

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 22, 2010 10:10 AM

Make sure you listen to this whole screed. Socialist Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders lays out how the Left plans to use reconciliation not just to achieve the government health care takeover, but several other big-ticket, big government items including child care and education.

I’ve transcribed a key passage:

(1:01) Host: To do all those things by majority rule in the Senate with 51 votes, do they have to be broken out as individual pieces of legislation?

Sanders: No, no, no, no. I think, to the best of my knowledge, you have lawyers working on this, you can put it all in one reconciliation bill, which at this point can only cover health care and education.

Host: Right. Fascinating.

Sanders: Now, the other thing is, once you do that, you can go through another reconciliation package, and so long as instructions are given to the relevant committees, you can include a lot more.

So the next time around, after you pass health care and education, you could do, for example, creating millions of jobs, transforming our energy system…you can start investing in jobs in rebuilding our infrastructure…et cetera, et cetera.

Bernie Sanders and Maxine Waters may be the most honest of the Fascist in our Congress. They have the power and now is the time to use it-Oaths and Constitution be damned. All Power to the Soviet? Bernie Sanders is no George Washington is he? Apologies to Glenn Beck but Revolution may indeed be unavoidable.

George Washington: “Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people’s liberty teeth (and) keystone… the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable… more than 99% of them [guns] by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference [crime]. When firearms go, all goes, we need them every hour.” (Address to 1st session of Congress)

George Mason: “To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them.” (3 Elliot, Debates at 380)

Technically yes, but it depends on the ruling of the Senate parliamentarian. He is supposed to be non-partisan, but serves at the pleasure of the Senate Majority Leader, so who knows how that will play out.

What’s the point of a constitutional republic when committed Stalinists can destroy it at will via legislative and executive fiat? The founders never envisioned treason on such a massive scale. We need to address this as a direct assault on the Republic itself. We are indeed in a war and need to come to grips with the reality of that fact.

The enemy is exposed and in plain view.

Having been inspired by flyman’s Battle of the Bulge metaphor – Dear Leader’s “Operation Overreach” is as insane as Hitler advancing on the Soviets in the east and declaring war on the US in the same month. And the results will ultimately be the same.

Reconciliation is a last resort desperation play that will annihilate them. Again, I say bring it.

It’s amazing how fast commies like Sanders can talk about ‘affordability’ in terms of reigning in those greedy rich doctors, (trying to pay their staggering tuition loan payments and malpractice insurance premiums while staying up late trying to figure out insurance forms), then get awfully quiet about the greedy rich universities who get to GOUGE us on taxpayer backed loans. Making the loans cheaper will only make the problem WORSE. Easier money = even higher tuition!

Let’s enact a program to make gasoline ‘affordable’ by allowing us take out cheap government backed loans to pay for it. Yeah – that’ll make gas prices go down too…/sarc

The socialists don’t understand that nothing the government does is free. The money they use has to come from somewhere.

They hear horror stories about local governments running out of money. . . have to fire teachers, policemen, state parks, etc because they control them.

They don’t understand that if the government controls it, when the government runs out of money, you can’t afford it. That means HOSPITALS AND DOCTORS.

Why would you look at police, firefighters, and teachers and conclude that we need to be in a position to fire doctors and close hospitals if the government runs out of money.

It doesn’t pass because it is a bad idea. If Obama comes up with a good idea, I’ll cheer and champion it. But if his idea is to pay for insurance (that people may not even need) for everyone for the rest of the life of this country, I’ll wonder why you got to the powerful position and how long until you are gone.

Just like that non-sense plan to weatherize homes. Cost per home at this point????

    $57,000

That’s right. $57K to insulate a home. One home.

Why?………. in part Gov’t administrative overhead. Not to mention all the middlemen getting their piece of the tax payer money pie.

And this health care plan farce will be no different.

To all those who think this idiot is a true Vermonter, please understand…he was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He moved to Vermont after college in 1964 and ran for Congress in 1971. It’s gone downhill ever since.

I was born and raised in Vermont. I have never, nor will ever, vote for this trash. Unfortunately, he “brings home the bacon” for many milk farmers, and so people keep voting him in. People also hate conservatives up here, so they keep voting him in.

Sad. I guarantee you, you will continue to see liberals elected in Vermont for years to come. We have too many liberal flat-landers moving in, and too many people sucking at the teet of the government for them to vote otherwise.

And to show how stupid they are…our state government is voting on whether to shut down our only nuclear power plant today. Despite not having any plans to replace the energy source. They even state “We have to do this, and we recognize that your power bills will go up. But it’s for the environment.” And most likely, it’s going to be shut down.

    Un-freakin’-believable.
