Sunday night open thread

Gearing up for a new week after being blissfully unplugged with family this weekend. I’ve got jury duty in the morning. What’s on your minds?

Pelosi was quoted today as saying “It’s possible to have a bipartisan bill without bipartisan votes.”

    By that reasoning:

“The public wants Obamacare even though they don’t want Obamacare.”

    And

“Massive Democratic party losses this November mean a landslide Democratic party victory.”

People aren’t talking about this health care thing appropriately. They need to be specifically asked how this bill will help Medicare.

Their only answer is going to be ‘taxes’.

But the REALITY is that even if they pass all the bill that the D’s want (they will pass the senate bill), they are going to have to pass more dramatic health care legislation to deal with Medicare soon. Point being, this bill does nothing to fix the problem that exists.

Some people think Kent Conrad said he wouldn’t pass it through reconcilliation so that means it is dead. What Conrad said was that pieces would be passed through reconcilliation. . .

It is Conrad’s understanding that the Senate has already passed the bill. If they vote on reconcilliation it will be about provisions in the bill they have already passed. The House will have to pass the Senate bill.

Conrad was saying that they won’t be able to change things like insurance laws or abortion things. They can only change tax and spending of the bill they have already passed.

It’s far from dead. And it is much more dangerous for the fiscal health of this country than anything in history.

As usual, since you asked, I’m angry.

This is a special announcement for Michelle Malkin directly! BEEP BEEP BEEEEEP!

I believe that the Democrats are counting on Michelle Malkin and other anti-illegal immigration hawks to cost the Republicans some seats.

Just a heads up but you can prepare. They are going to take their time on health care because they are going to go for broke on their next program once the primaries are done. . . amnesty for illegals.

They’ll put something up that the squishy R’s won’t be able to resist. They’ll vote likely in the summer and hope that outrage from Michelle and others will cause R incumbents their seats for being pro-immigration.

I’m not giving you solutions to this issue. I’m just saying it really is something you should be prepared to deal with. If you are prepared you can deal with it better. You can hammer R’s, but that’s what the D’s are going to expect you to do.

Just be aware of the likelihood (I’d do it to them if I could). . .Carry on BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEP!

Every single republican running will say this year on the campaign trail that if elected he will oppose putting any more money on America’s credit card. Jim Bunning just taught all these youngsters what it feels like to catch that car after you’ve chased it.

You can bark and make noise, or you can bite and take the beating, and not let go. Unless you are not paying attention, today Jim Bunning has been under a relentless attack.

He’s right. Bunning isn’t even insisting we need to end unemployment benefits – he’s just saying that we should figure out how to pay for the extension. Sadly, he’s standing alone.

I don’t care if our president prays or not. That’s between him and his maker. What burns my hide is that it is likely the biggest argument between speechwriters about the speech our president was to deliver regarding Chile was not about how we might extend our helping hand to those in need, but how to remove any reference to religion in his teleprompter. I’m embarrassed for my country. And yes, I’ve prayed and will continue to pray for those affected in Chile.

San Fran Nan, however, does not have her own seat on the line. In other words, other Dems need to fall on their swords for the noble cause of socialized medicine. Will these fearless foes of currupt capitolism and financial conservatism cry out, “I regret that I have but one [political] life to give for my country?!” Or slink away whining “He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day.” If anyone wants to wager, I’ll go with the latter and give you 10 congresscritter votes.

The interview is chock full of other reality challenged revelations from dragon lady which I find very encouraging. A “new morning in America” is coming. Watch for it. Fight for it!

I have been following the discussion on the credit card industry. The common thread is that this industry will find a way to continue to scam card users. After much thought, I came up with a solution, “Make any interest over 10% subject to the usery law”. That puts the onerus on the credit card industry to clean up their own mess. They will not be able to support dead-heads and the rest of us will not have to support the industry for their mistakes.
