What are the rules? Do you not get to answer questions? Are you allowed the time to formulate your thoughts? Are you allowed to change the subject, redirect and avoid? Is this how you treat your guests?
Both of these guys need a time out.
Ratigan threw fire bombs and the premise of his questions were offensive and were meant to solicit an emotional response. This serves no one.
What are Ratigan’s expectations? To hear only ‘yes’ and ‘no’ answers?
What are William’s expectations? To go on tangents?
A higher level of sophistication is required of both individuals. They should share their expectations with one another before appearing on the air. It makes flamboyant TeeVee and is more heat than light, and it does not advance the conversation.
I’m not a big fan of news personalities screaming over people. This is why I don’t like guys like Bill O. and Chris Matthews. But at the same time, why didn’t the guy just say, “No, we don’t accept them in the Tea Party.” Maybe it was a stupid question, but at the same time, the answer was simple.
Don’t think Williams will return to MSNBC but surly he had to have known he’d be throttled.
Maybe MSNBC paid him big $$ for the appearance and I hope he’ll put it toward Tea Party causes. That’s healthy revenge.

Dude, it takes absolutely zip, zero, nada talent to shout down a guest. And please, where is the evidence that members of Tea Party organizations want to shoot black people? I have seen black people at Tea Parties. Not one of them ever got shot. The worst thing I’ve read about is a black man who got beat up by … no, not a Tea Partier … but rather, one of your comrades in arms, an SEIU thug. I think there some projection on your part going on here.

The detail might have escaped some, but before the interview with Williams begins, it appears as though, they have just finished an earlier segment with Mark Potok (the curly haired dude shown on the right, but does not speak) of the lived-way-beyond-it’s-usefulness, and quite irrelevant SPLC. The race/ethnicity/grievance lobby just doesn’t know when to stop I guess.
Re: MSNBC…it’s so darn popular where I live, that my cable provider bumped it from the basic cable package all the way out to channel number 15,396 – or something real close.

Another illustrated reason why I ‘never’ turn the ‘mote to MSNBC, even by accident. I don’t care for venom delivered by any media outlet and simply refuse to participate. Just stupid enough to turn on your television reflexively when you walk in the door, to fill your space with the sound of tv-people telling you what’s what. Years of this behavior, this auto-brainwashing (think about it, in Clockwork Orange, they had to strap the dude to a chair….we willingly undergo the treatment in our country, and we call it entertainment) is enough to make anyone’s mind just “open” enough to soak it up and believe it.

Watching the hosts on MSNBC, all you get is a group of humorless, dour, angry men and women. Take your pick, Olbermann, Maddow, Matthews, whomever. They are all so angry all the time. Don’t these people ever have a beer and just chill?
Regarding the posts on MM and Ann Coulter, I find Ann Coulter too much like Obermann for my liking. She is always sneeringly contemptuous of whoever she is arguing with and shouting down. It makes the conservative cause look hysterical. In contrast, I recently watched an old tape of Ronald Reagan and Booby Kennedy from 1968. Then Governor Reagan was humorous, convincing and sunny as ever. That was the measure of Ronald Reagan: Not an ounce of meanness in his body.
Here is the good thing about watching Michelle Malkin on television. Even if the sound on your TV is not working (as mine was not a few nights ago), she is still quite easy on the eyes.
I am willing to bet that Dylan Ratigan is one of the reasons they are coming out with the new version of the DSM-IV. Why, he is probably featured in a good percentage of the manual.

One thing that is disappointing with this offensive behavior of that “host” is that there are likely many people who viewed that who are stupid enough to buy into that host’s rant as face, when clearly he was bullying the guest and spewing his own hate filled pabulum, without allowing a response from the guest.

You can’t win with MSNBC. First, Olbermann calls out tea partiers for not being diverse enough. Then Dylan Ratigan calls them out for being too diverse. Make up your mind, MSNBC. Is the Tea Party supposed to be more inclusive or more exclusive?
The problem with doing what MSNBC wants is that no one officially runs the tea party. So, who decides who goes and who stays? If someone at a Tea Party violates the law, local law enforcement should remove them. If they are not violating any law, it becomes a free speech issue. Is Mr. Ratigan calling for an end to free speech or just an end to speech he doesn’t like?
If the Tea Party included only those MSNBC likes and excluded everyone else, it would become identical to the left-most wing of the Democratic Party.
I think we can now conclude that MSNBC intends to do their best to destroy the tea party movement, or anything that represents a conservative threat. They are the Liberal’s Hunting Club.

This should be a lesson to anyone in the Tea Party. DO NOT go on MSNBC!! I think it is still safe to go on CNN and of course, FOX News. But…MSNBC??? Don’t be sucked into that again. I think the Tea Party members have already figured that out! PMSNBC is not the proper forum for our cause. They are deranged, and their few listeners are lost causes anyway.

This rant is beyond reason! Editorial yesterday’s morning by Leonard Pitts again classifies tea partiers as racists. I’m so over this. My wife holds back from tea party support because she fears this racist label. I will show her this red faced rant to help her get a true picture of tea party opposition.
My last point made at our local tea party meeting was to encourage all members to bring as many of their black conservative friends to the next tea party demonstration as they can find. Is that racist? I guess it is, in a way ,but we must find a way to fight back.
Williams made three points very clear. His first point was that there are nutjobs and normal people, CLEARLY answering labeling racists as nutjobs. When you label someone as a nutjob are you aligning with them or not? CLEARLY not.
When pressed Williams gave the analogy that someone in NBC had gone on an anti-semetic rant but was promoted. The point is nutjobs exist within organizations, that doesn’t mean the entire organization is like said nutjob.
When pressed further Williams said, OF COURSE we do not condone racism.
If you that is the wrong thing to do or somehow anything close to what Ratigan did, we all need to pray for this country because we’re screwed. Rational thought is gone.

I agree with your first premise, but Williams wasn’t anywhere near “off on a tangent”. Seriously. Does a complete sentence count as a tangent? Count the number of words he was allowed to speak.
