Obama’s war on fishing?!?!?!

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 9, 2010 05:00 PM

Longtime readers know I love to fish and have been at war with the anti-fishing nuts at PETA for years.

JWF flags a story today from ESPN about Obama regulatory maneuvers that look to limit fishing access:

The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation’s oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters.

This announcement comes at the time when the situation supposedly still is “fluid” and the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force still hasn’t issued its final report on zoning uses of these waters.

That’s a disappointment, but not really a surprise for fishing industry insiders who have negotiated for months with officials at the Council on Environmental Quality and bureaucrats on the task force. These angling advocates have come to suspect that public input into the process was a charade from the beginning.

“When the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) completed their successful campaign to convince the Ontario government to end one of the best scientifically managed big game hunts in North America (spring bear), the results of their agenda had severe economic impacts on small family businesses and the tourism economy of communities across northern and central Ontario,” said Phil Morlock, director of environmental affairs for Shimano.

“Now we see NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and the administration planning the future of recreational fishing access in America based on a similar agenda of these same groups and other Big Green anti-use organizations, through an Executive Order by the President. The current U.S. direction with fishing is a direct parallel to what happened in Canada with hunting: The negative economic impacts on hard working American families and small businesses are being ignored.

Sacrificing jobs for the green agenda. Conducting Kabuki theater on public input. Business as usual for the Obama White House.

Ok, I’ll admit it — I looked up the word conjoogal. Cheddar, can you please supply a definition (I wanna make sure it is legal in Colorado before I stop fishing).

This could start a new baby boom.

All the fishermen staying in bed and conjoogaling with the little woman.

    Lots on new future taxpayers!

Ha Plymouth — I know what conjugal means — I was more concerned with conjoogal because sometimes Rogue Cheddar can be a little “Rogue”.

Read the interim report, and then make comments.

Me, not so big on having ‘climate change’ mentioned, but knowledge is power, and speculating to reach conclusions is lunacy.

OH, and the bottomline line is that President Obama is not having a ‘war on fishing’. Though you might want to check your home State’s laws which do far more to circumvent your fishing activities.

Ooooh “bears are not fish…” Thanks zzygy, we didn’ know!

(Hint zzygy: sometimes a thread is started because it’s fun to speculate and the posters know its speculation but its fun to play along.)

Maybe you knew, but the author of the exceprt is suggesting the agenda used to deal with bears is the same agenda used to deal with fish. Not to mention, the bears in the excerpt are in Canada, and the fish are in the US.

    “Fun to play along.”

I suppose, but when does the truth become important? People are saying things (making conclusions) based on speculation (guesses).

When do facts matter? Why spin yourself into a tizzy based on misinformation (not reading the actual report or seeing the referenced agendas)?

Moreover, individual States have greater oversight with regard to fishing and hunting. States and municipalities have more rules and regulations concerning time (when), weight, licensing and size of what you hunt or fish.

Lastly, you would do well to speak for yourself and not to the motives of other posters and why they do what they do. They are an independant lot and can speak for themselves.

So, has anyone made the leap to “controlling the passive food supply” yet?

Imagine a day when WALMART is shuttered because there is no food to sell because banks didn’t loan money to farmers to grow it, and $6 gas would make trucking it in cost prohibitive anyway…..

SOoooooooooo….enter a father trying to feed his starving kids, but….OOOOOPS! Law dawg says NO FISHING!

HUNGRY CITIZENS WILL BE FORCED INTO BREAD LINES with the First Lady handing out soy burgers and “mushroom risotto” at the Washington DC homeless shelter….

HUNGER + FEAR = SUBJECTS, not citizens

This throw away regulation has much, MUCH DEEPER implications.
