Adam Kokesh: An anti-war smear merchant in “Republican” clothing

Before there was a nationwide, grass-roots Tea Party movement, there was another nationwide, grass-roots movement that brought thousands of Americans to Washington, D.C. They called themselves the “Gathering of Eagles.” I covered two massive, GoE rallies against the Soros-funded, anti-war Left in March 2007 and September 2007. GOE activists continue to expose the transnational progressives, anti-military bullies, and phonies who operate under the “peace” banner.
One of the groups that GOE dogged was Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) — whose members have included bomb-threat bullies and death-threat nutballs who threatened to assassinate me, fake Army vet Jesse MacBeth, and another prominent member who smeared the Young America’s Foundation by faking an anti-Muslim hate flyer and smeared David Horowitz with similar race-card playing flyers, then weaseled out of the attacks by claiming they were “satire.”
The last two incidents involved an IVAW member named Adam Kokesh. He marched in uniform in mock patrols for the anti-war movement, paraded around holding an upside-down American flag (see Jonn Lilyea for more), was arrested for defacing signs, and traveled to Germany to urge soldiers to abandon their posts and seek aid and comfort with his anti-war minions.
Kokesh, believe it or not, is now running as a Republican candidate for Congress in New Mexico. And, believe it or not, he is getting positive exposure on at least one Fox News show. He has the backing of Ron Paul, the Republican Liberty Caucus, and the 9/12 Project.
The New Mexico Republican Party has its head in the sand. If you have friends and family in New Mexico, make sure they know who the real Adam Kokesh is.
He is an anti-war smear merchant in GOP clothing. Spread the word.

This guy is a dirtbag. He claims to be an honorably discharged Sergeant. Problem is he was busted to LCpl for smuggling a gun back from Iraq (he was civil affairs) and then later had his discharge downgraded for the above mentioned “mock patrol”. It would have to be a mock patrol because he never went on any real ones and wouldn’t know what to do anyways….
This is not a coincidence any more than DeDe Scuzzy throwing her supporters behind the Democratic candidate after being supported by the GOP. When your ideology sucks, rely on dirty tricks. (See feature story)
Both political parties need to stand down, we reshuffle, and start over. All those middle-of-the-road Dems who can’t understand what happened to their party can join with Conservatives, and RINOs can join the Socialist/Marxists, and then we do battle again…
No respectable American/conservative would dare hold an American flag upside down.
I need no more evidence. He’s a liar.
As I pointed out (Michelle linked over within the above post), the Washington Post reported Kokesh was nearing routine discharge from the inactive Reserves when he was photographed (by WaPo and others) on that mock patrol. Yet what got him a general discharge was emailing a Marine officer “an obscene recommendation about what” he “should go do.” That’s actually was earned him an ‘under general conditions’ discharge instead of an honorable one.
Must see himself as they next clone in the Murtha-Kerry lineage of ________ (fill in the blank) …
GRRRRR!!!!
This guy sounds like the media gal we had here in TX running for R governor. People in NM needs to get this guys information out for voters to see.
L
New Mexico is pretty heavily Democratic. His anti-war rhetoric could actually win the GOP a seat there.
We took Scott Brown’s flimsy GOP credentials. I’m more worried about his big government and big spending tendencies than I am some soldier who smuggled a gun home, partially because almost all my male relatives did exactly the same thing.
Glenn Beck was right when he said that the GOP still hasn’t had it’s “Come to Jesus!” moment yet.
I agree with everything Michelle says about this jackass in sheep’s clothing.
The only point I would disagree with is in accepting the liberal-framing in citing him as “anti-war”. The correct term is “anti-America”. (Not always interchangeable with “anti-American”.)
Though Michelle kinda went there with “anti-military”. I would amend that to “anti-America military”; these types are usually fine with Iran (and other totalitarian) military buildup & actions.
“Head in the sand?” I am not sure I would be so kind when speaking of the GOP. But, come on, this is the party of McCain, Graham and Steele. This kook appears to be right at home with this bunch of losers.
Just another reason I am NOT a Republican any longer.
Sergeant Tim,
I stand corrected, although the e-mail from the officer was an inquiry into the “mock patrol”
All the GOP needs is another trojan horse candidate. Half the population of N.M. moved there from California within the last ten years. Worse than western Washington state.
Few things in political demonstrations brings my blood to a boil like improper respect for the flag.
How many other posers will try to paint themselves in GOP colors?

What…???
Manna’s replacement…
ALREADY????
http://hindenblog1.blogspot.com/
You mean besides McCain, Graham, Collins, Snowe, Specter and Voinovich. (Technically Specter was never really a Republican but they paid for his campaigns anyway…)
Man, it used to get my step-father hacked off when, back in high school, I would wear un-pressed and un-starched fatigues. I just thought they were comfortable…
Wow…how easily taken in we are!! Even the 9/12 people? Scary. “Trojan Horse” is the perfect description of these tactics. If the GOP keeps getting sucked in by these imposters, we need to TAKE DOWN the GOP. They are really not getting it, are they?? I will be waiting for them to disavow this man as a legitimate repubican.
This form of political cross-dressing cuts both ways. For years, fascist Lyndon Larouche ran as a Democrat despite rigorous disclaimers and disownings by that party. Once again, Michelle has headed off another phony at the pass.
Thanks, Michelle, for spreading the word on this “progressive” Republican. I followed his story sometime back and did not know he was running in New Mexico. I will try to find the link, but I believe this guy has some real anti-war/anti-American buddies he hangs with….I’ll research it.
Off-topic. I just went over to Drudge and it looks like someone is messing with it. I know they spread the rumor that Drudge gives you a virus. Could someone be trying to hack in and put a virus in there? This would not surprise me! Some very evil people are trying to destroy us, and a good way to do it is to silence our voices!
When did you disengage? Did it entail changing voter registration or the like?
No particular reason for asking, WE82, just being a nosy “enquiring” mind.
But it isn’t just the GOP, Scrappy.
Anybody can be fooled, including “the Tea Party”.
Eternal vigilance, and all that…
That’s why folks like Michelle are so valuable in our time.
Agree. We are not dealing with rational people here and they will try everything by any means necessary. We are fighting pure evil.
Man, that guy looks just like pitcher John Smoltz.
Can’t the GOP trademark the label “Republican” as applied to a candidate for office, then sue those that use it without authorization? I mean, to quote our illustrious Sophomore in Chief “you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig”.
I worry about the Tea Party. They grew so fast. I worry they will think they are invincible. They are not!! They have to be really really careful as they fight the same evil we are all fighting. Their intent is honorable, but they are being infiltrated more and more every day by those who want to bring them down.
My step-father, back in the olden days (when I was in high school), would make sure I stood up and placed my hand over my heart when watching a baseball game on TV and they played the National Anthem. Didn’t bother me much, but my dates would be a little taken aback.
Then I joined the US Navy, where the flag is a symbol to be respected. I always have, and always will, respect the flag and pledge my allegiance to the flag, and the USA.
My oldest bro was a USA lifer, babiesgrandma, he always stood up and saluted for Old Glory & the anthem when there was football game on the telly. We followed his lead, with hands over hearts (we younger siblings were civilians). Great, great lesson.
Amen!
Correct, Scrappy. WE have to understand how power works. This is all totally predictable and to be expected.
Notice that Dirty Harry Reid is (kind of) endorsing the Tea Party candidate in his own re-election? How could that be, when we are just a bunch of crazy astro-turfers?!?!?!
Didn’t Morticia Pelosi recently try pretty much the same tack, Rags? The “they’re like us” routine? (I think it was on Newsbusters.)
No surprise there. Paul is a fraud.
I grew up on military bases, and always used the base theater to see movies. The movie would ALWAYS start with the National Anthem.
I was so shocked, and disappointed, when I saw that the civilian theaters didn’t do likewise after the ol’ man retired.
I felt foolish standing up, the first time, for an anthem that never came.
I quit calling myself a Republican in early 2008. In Virginia you don’t register by party so that doesn’t apply. But I had been busting the chops of the local GOP party for years letting them know that candidates like Tom Davis and his ilk were going to drive me out. If they did respond it was always a form letter. The GOP just doesn’t care. So I since 2008 I have been a “Conservative.”
Highly related–
We didn’t stand up at home for the TV but we always stood up at movies on post where the national anthem was played before every movie. The music would play and we would snap to our feet and put our hands over our hearts.
And if you were on post when the colors were lowered at the end of the day, you stopped, got out your car, if you were in one, and saluted too. We were Americans and proud of it! Still am!
I wander what flag Barry and Rahm salute, if any? It sure isn’t “Old Glory!”
Peeps, I hadn’t picked up on that. I don’t see Pelosi needing to split her opposition, as I consider her district chock-a-block with nuts. Choc-full-O-Nuts, as it were…
Ragspierre,
Could this ashjian be funded by seiu to see that dingy splits the votes and keep him in? Please NV vote this slug dingy out in Nov.!
L
I see. In Minnesota it’s the same, you don’t register as a voter by party affiliation, you just vote. I’m independent (not to be confused with “an Independent”), if the Dems could manage to come up with a good candidate I’d go with him/her. But they just ain’t many Zell Miller types left. Common sense is in short supply in the entire political spectrum.
He is trying to split the vote and take away from the republican.
Dunno, really. Read the CNN piece, and it is all a mystery from that.
I wrote a blurb about this yesterday…
http://hindenblog1.blogspot.com/2010/03/crash-dirty-harry-endorses-astroturf.html
Lemme know what you think. Comments are welcome.
The strategy is proven. It worked when H. Ross Perot assured Clinton of a victory against Milquetoast Bush in 1992.
Hangfire,
I have to admit I voted for perot against Bush. I feel to this day that is why clinton got in! We split the party. I WILL never do that again! We can not think third party, the d’s are the ones who will stay in, IMO.
L
Letget,
What really sucks is that Perot was the better man, and better candidate.
Correct this land lubber if I’m wrong, salty sea-dogs, but an upside-down flag is a distress signal?
Could be very apropro’s for the dem party…

I served in the U.S. Army–and was required to take one Class A (dress) uniform home in case I was recalled to active duty. Only a person on active duty or in National Guard or Army Reserves should wear the uniform. It is unpatriotic to wear it at a protest or political event.
***
I stand and put my hand over my heart when the National Anthem is played. The only time I give a military salute is when I am at the funeral of a military person being buried–the last salute of respect to a friend who served our country–as Taps sounds and the rifle salute is fired.

Bravo Zulu to you, rocketman, and thanks for your service, even if it was as a gravel-agitator.
One’s chances of victory are always enhanced when before battle the enemy divides his forces into factions that can’t or won’t support each other. Better still if those divisions lead to the enemy’s divisions spending more time taking pot-shots at one another instead of concentrating against the common enemy.
Can’t blame the libs for trying to play the tea partiers off against the Republicans. They know damn well that’s their only chance of survival in November. If the situation was reversed — if a populist movement emerged among liberals, with many of its members hating “moderate” donks and “blue dogs” at least as much as they despise Republicans — conservatives would be foolish not to want to help that split to fester, and then to rupture.
If I were a donk, reading some of the comments on this blog which take every individual bad example and extrapolate it to lambaste the entire Republican Party, I’d certainly be encouraged to try to take advantage by playing the fears and suspicions of tea partiers and Republicans against one another.
Wouldn’t you?
Were I a donk, yes, of course. It’s one thing when a party collapses from within and splits, yet another when the other party implants trojan horse candidates of their own choosing.
McCain was/is a Trojan Horse. Grahamnesty….
Is the decision re:when/what to salute left to individual active duty personnel, rocketman? I could be wrong, but my impression is there are some specific protocols.
For example, this page at the United States Corps of Chaplains would seem to indicate there are guidelines (if not outright requirements).
The Hand Salute
The third district is the bluest part of the state. I doubt any R candidate can unseat Lujan.
He is an ignorant, foul punk. Throw the spotlight on this scum. Decent people need to know.
Thanks Michelle for getting on this. We needed the massive distribution your site provides. One minor correction, though, the 912Candidates website that has Kokesh’s page posted is not affiliated with Glenn Beck’s 9/12 Project. I’ve exchanged emails with the owner of that site. Also, Oathkeepers has fallen in love with Kokesh, but since Rhodes is a Paulbot, I wasn’t surprised.
Thank You, Hon. Big hug next time I see you.
Why would Dem bother to run as a Republican in a district already held by a Dem? Methinks that is the larger question.
Are the Dems trying to put heat on members in “safe” districts, in order to keep them toeing the Party Line in the health sham vote?
This is a MUCH BIGGER ISSUE than just Adam Kokesh!
Ron Paul is using the money that was left over from his Presidential campaign to fund “Liberty Republican” candidates around the country.
Here is the video where Ron Paul describes his nationwide strategy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlqXq8YxQFQ
If candidates highlight code words like:
- Liberty Republican
- Campaign for Liberty
- Liberty Caucus
- Liberty Slate
- Constitution
then the candidate is most likely part of Ron Paul’s movement.
They are using the term “liberty” because they are really Libertarians.
These candidates will sound like Republicans in the Primary election, but if they win the Primary they will then take a sudden turn to the left for the General Election in November.
These “Liberty Republicans” are “non-interventionists.” So in addition to getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan, they want to close all of the U.S. military bases around the world.
They also want to “End the Fed” because they think that ending the Federal Reserve system will drain the government of the money is uses to fund “endless wars.”
They are against “warrentless wiretaps,” which are used to protect us against terrorists.
They are against using “extra-judicial systems to deal with enemy combatants” which means they would prefer to have Terrorists tried in civilian courts in the U.S. rather than in military tribunals at Gitmo.
They are against waterboarding and other forms of “torture”
They are most likely in favor of legalizing marijuana.
They want to repeal the 17th amendment to the Constition which means they would prefer to have state legislatures select our U.S. Senators rather than letting the American people elect their Senators.
Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty is extremely well organized as we all saw at the CPAC convention.
These candidates need to be exposed before the Republican Primaries!
They are simply using the Republican Party because they know they can’t get elected if they run as Libertarians.
The Republican Party needs to wake up!
You can keep an eye on The Daily Paul web site
http://www.dailypaul.com/
to find other candidates who are part of Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty.
Read Ron Paul’s endorsement of Adam Kokesh to see how the word Liberty is used on the Daily Paul site and in the comments that follow.
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/122477
Note that the Adam Kokesh banner ad was recently removed from the Daily Paul web site.

Demonrat plant?
Certainly isn’t a Republican.
McCain and Graham…
Both Democrats who got out of the military a decade or two too late. There used to be a place for military heroes like John Glenn in the party.
But it has been an increasingly anti-military and anti-patriotic party, forcing some people who chose politics after the service who might have been a better fit in the old Democrat party to be Republicans.
I think John McCain and Lindsay Graham, in their own minds, think reaching across the aisle in a one way only bipartisanship is somehow good for America.
McCain was recently amazed he couldn’t put together a new “Gang of 14″ to block the reconcilation tactic on hell care.
Umm, Michelle….
I’ll let you borrow my copy of Gray’s Anatomy.
It’s almost 36 years old, but human anatomy hasn’t changed all that much.
I know you’re a lady, and that this is a family blog; but, I think you might want to review where the New Mexico Republican Party actually has its head.
I am glad this imposter of a veteran has been exposed. His discharge alone should tell the story and displaying the American Flag upside down tells me everything else I need to know. Republicans need to do a little more research on candidates before even pretending to support them. Ron Paul needs to just become a libertarian and come up with a set up beliefs rather than trying the Trojan Horse from within. BTW – I consider myself basically Libertarian but I do not sacrifice national defense so I am neolibertarian or something like that. And, I view drugs as an internal threat as defined by the Constitution. Ron Paul is catering to many in the movement who I see as very dangerous to our country.
God bless you, Michelle!
For shining the light on these cockroaches.
IVAW members are human garbage – at least 40% of their membership have been proven to be frauds who were never in the military. Nearly 20% of their membership is composed of people who were removed from the military due to inappropriate circumstances.
In my opinion, even the IVAW members who did serve are a disgrace to their nation – their dissent, whether it was publically displayed or simply in their minds and hearts, put all of their brothers-in-arms in mortal danger.
Veterans for Freedom and Gathering of Eagles need to counter these bastards at every step – drive them into oblivion.
On this note, people need to realize that the infamous George Soros has established a “veteran aid” front group called Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America IAVA (hmmm, it even sounds similar). The legitimacy of their membership is already under question, and much of their funds have gone to liberal youth indoctrination programs, not “veteran aid.”
These people are filthy frauds
furthermore, I couldn’t imagine anyone embracing an endorsement from the racist, conspiracy theorist, sophomoric politician, Ron Paul

HI PURPLEPEEP–#60. Yes–that is the correct list for saluting when one is on active duty service. Our President also salutes and receives salutes in civilian clothing since he is the Commander in Chief.
***
Since I left the Army 43 years ago and am a civilian now–my salute at a funeral is a personal choice only–usually the person being buried and I am both long removed from active duty, and we are both in civilian clothes.
***
Thanks to the vets of all services who did a “full tour” of 20 to 35+ years defending and protecting our country. I was a 2 year draftee–short timer help–and I have the highest respect for the professional service “lifers”. They are the backbone of our military and of our country’s defense and liberty.

I’m a bit of a libertarian, not registered as such (not registered as anything, in Georgia, you do not have to). So let me offer my two cents worth.
I’d never advocate for that, but I do think we are spending way too much money, and sending way too many of our military around the globe to be the “world police”. I realize that there are some real necessities in keeping folks in certain places, but I think we’ve gone beyond that.
Nutty, but that is sort of Ron Paul-style nutty.
Not a simple black-and-white issue, but I do worry about giving up individual liberties so that we all can be safe. I’m sure Orwell’s world in “1984″ was super safe, but there are limits, and slippery slopes. I also do not subscribe to the mindset that “Well, if you have nothing to hide, you shouldn’t mind” (some do believe that)
Definitely try them at Gitmo, and no issues with torture.
I’ve never touched marijuana, and don’t ever plan to, but I have no issue with the legalization of it. If we’re going to ban potentially harmful substances, then we need to ban alcohol too. How about neither.
Liberal slurs aside, you mean a guy who won his GOP primary with 80% of the vote in that liberal bastion, Texas?
The guy who received more in primary donations from members of the military than all the other GOP candidates combined?
Yeah, who’d want that?
Majorken, I agree with rooting out Trojan Horses from the GOP. I would like to start with the neoconservatives.
Can anyone confirm or deny this with legitimate sources? I have heard Paul’s supporters make this claim, but did not know if it was true.
Michelle Malkin is a hateful Bill O’Reilly wanna be. She is a full fleged NWO conspirator who will gladly shred any one who stands for liberty and the US Constitution. Michelle Malkin represents the wosrt form of media bias for the NWO. You are an evil woman malkin
As far as the flag goes: First our governments use them to blindfold us, then they use them to bury us.
I wish the sheeples would wake up and let us not forget who Michelle Malkin works for…Rupert Murdoch. King of thieves and liars.
