Endless “Time for talk is over” tour hits Cleveland, Ohio on Monday; Update: More signs of No-mentum

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 11, 2010 11:01 AM

Calling all Tea Party activists: Make sure to make your voices heard in Cleveland, Ohio, on Monday when President Obama comes to town.

They’re piggy-backing Democrat fundraisers onto the Demcare salvation road show — just as they did in St. Louis, Missouri.

Will Dems flee from the Reverse Midas White House touch like they did yesterday?

At least one Democrat is taking the risk: Ohio Dem. Gov. Ted Strickland:

…in Ohio, Gov. Ted Strickland is making sure his schedule is cleared for next week’s visit by the president. Strickland, who is facing a tough challenge in his re-election bid from Republican John Kasich, will join Obama in northeast Ohio on Monday to promote his health care plan, a Strickland aide said.

The first-term Democrat, saddled with a difficult economy and a state jobless rate nearing 11 percent, led Kasich by five points in a mid-February poll by Quinnipiac University.

Strickland will get some political help from the administration on the same day as the president’s visit. Vice President Biden is headlining a fundraiser for the governor on Monday night in Cleveland.

With a tip of the hat to Doc Zero, who cracked on Twitter that “Democrats love Obama campaign visits like the citizens of Tokyo rush to have their pictures taken with Godzilla,” run for your lives!

Update: More signs of No-mentum…

More than two dozen Democrats are expected to vote against the healthcare reform bill that will hit the House floor in the coming weeks.

At least 25 House Democrats will reject the healthcare reform legislation, according to a survey by The Hill, a review of other media reports and interviews with lawmakers, aides and lobbyists. Dozens of House Democrats are undecided or won’t comment on their position on the measure.

And more:

A group of Hispanic lawmakers on Thursday will tell President Barack Obama that they may not vote for healthcare reform unless changes are made to the bill’s immigration provisions.

The scheduled meeting comes as Democratic leaders and the White House are struggling to craft a final bill that will attract 216 votes in the lower chamber.

I am employed as a civil engineer and deal with the strings of Federal Transportation funding throughout my career. Back in the mid 90s, when a new Federal transportation bill was being considered, Kasich suggested that the Federal gas tax of $0.18 a gallon be reduced to $0.02, and that the individual states then determine how much gas tax to levy. It was a sensible solution then (of course, it never passed muster with Congress), and since that time, I have held Kasich in high regard. He’s exactly the kind of governor that Ohio needs at this time.

To be of a leftist persuasion is to live a lie.

    - You have to lie to yourself all the time to avoid having to confront the fact that not only have you not staved off the 7 Major Negative Emotions, you’ve embraced them — and just like the tar baby, they’ve embraced you back.

    - You have to parrot the lies your peer group clings to, to preserve your acceptance among them — lest any of you have to enter the “Here be Dragons” terra incognita of thinking for yourselves, and have to pick up the mental tools you’ve long since let slip from your feeble grasp: logic, intellectual consistency, evidence and reasoned discourse.

    - And you have to lie to everybody else, lest they find out what you really are and what you really want.

She also knew about Mark Foley and sat on the information until it was too late to put another Republican on the ballot to replace him.

Astroturfing and Talking Points for Trolls:

…since millions of folks turn to talk radio as a trusted source of news and opinions, we need to make sure OFA [Obama Organizing For America] supporters are calling in with a pro-reform message.

    DISCUSSION POINTS

These points are only to provide extra information and suggestions. Your personal story will make the most compelling message.

    * For most Americans, their health care plan covers too little and costs too much. Far too many people delay or even skip the care they need because they simply can’t afford it.

    * The plan the President laid out includes the largest health care tax cut for middle class families in history and makes coverage more affordable for tens of millions of families and small business owners and expands coverage to over 31 million Americans who are currently uninsured.

    * This plan will give millions of Americans new choices in health insurance by making coverage more affordable, ending the denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions, putting power in the hands of consumers instead of insurance companies and providing one of the largest tax cuts in history while also reducing our national deficit.

    * Reform couldn’t be more urgent – just this month consumers in California were told their premiums could go up as much as 39 percent.

    * Too many in Washington are now saying that we should delay or give up on reform entirely, but Americans understand the stakes for our economy and our lives, and we want action.

Expect to hear these regurgitated talking points by callers to talk radio programs: Sean Hannity’s, Glenn Beck’s, Rush Limbaugh’s, etc.

Obama Organizing For America even wants their O-bots to “Report Your Call” back to O-bot headquarters!

We do understand the stakes for our economy and our lives,
and that is why the action we want is for this bill to die!

I know that Pelosi won’t bring the bill to a floor vote until she knows she has the votes for it. But I wouldn’t mind an up or down vote tomorrow, so that it can fail and be finally put to rest.

The last thing I would want would be for lame-duck Democrats, as one parting jab after losing the November elections and knowing that their power ends in early January, to pass the bill in December.

They are convinced they have to pass something. You can bet they’re all making deals with the devil to pass anything that is mired in doublespeak and rhetoric. Their comprehension levels are threatened because they simply don’t understand the American public not wanting this monstrosity and promising to get even at the polls 2010 and 2012. They all must be on sleep medication at this point.

    24Klady,

The may not be making deals directly with the devil, but it would appear they ARE making deals with “the son of the devil’s spawn.” ;)

P.S. Thanks for the kind words above.

Democratic leaders and the White House are struggling to craft a final bill that will attract 216 votes in the lower chamber.

I can only hope that the American voter remembers the last 14 months and chooses to delete as many demonrats from office as possible. We don’t want an improved healthcare bill…we want a dead Obamacare bill. Not more laws…but less government so the free market can work its magic.

That’s the Godzilla I remember. People talking out of sync with their lip movement, and a guy dressed in a cheesy rubber dinosaur suit crushing tramploing a plastic model of Tokyo. Awesome!

Carter and Clinton pollster Pat Cadell writing in the WaPo today.

Nothing has been more disconcerting than to watch Democratic politicians and their media supporters deceive themselves into believing that the public favors the Democrats’ current health-care plan.

Never in our experience as pollsters can we recall such self-deluding misconstruction of survey data.

CNN found last month that 56 percent of Americans believe that the government has become so powerful it constitutes an immediate threat to the freedom and rights of citizens. When only 21 percent of Americans say that Washington operates with the consent of the governed, as was also reported last month, we face an alarming crisis.

Maybe Americans are finally ready to rebel against our one-party system? The cultural elites are at war with us and 2010 will be the last year we can fight and win without violence. Once the Constitution has been swept away, we will have no reason to hope that elections and courts can help us.

Vote out ALL incumbents. Don’t think about it. Just do it.

WOW! You MUST watch this clip of Senator Byrd when he Single-Handedly Stopped President Clinton From Using Reconciliation!

Regardless of what Byrd says today, we should be playing over, and over, and over again the clip of what he said then.
