I will say this, he is being honest about how both parties behave. This is not a Democrat or Republican problem….it is a US Congress problem.

When they- Medicare and Social Security were set up “Ponzi” Scheme, you were not expected to live long enough to use the entitlement you paid into…and that didn’t stop any of us from stealing from you anyway – Demon Speak.
Looking at this again and not knowing his history, I believe he thinks he is trying to do the right thing but is condemned to working in and submitting to a corrupt system. Given the ethical challenge, he could at least make an effort to stand and work on his character and principles.
But it’s hard to hammer Perriello’s answer too hard when complicit and complacent Republicans also helped to make our present crisis possible. I have no love for Lott, Armey or the Hastert’s of the Party. The siren call of Washington took them all.

My FAVORITE Congressman. Periello the pide piper of porkulous. At least he just voted against the Slaughter rule. He will vote in the affirmative in end even though he says he is undecided.
Since the Dems seem to favor their Muslim brethren, perhaps we can apply a little Sharia law to these thieves.
Of course, not like any of the donks would understand or restrict their activities to a law…
Pffft. They’re like Harry Houdini when it comes to untying their own hands. They’re phony deficit hawk who use the deficit as an excuse not to cut spending, but to raise taxes, and only apply “PayGo” to G.O.P. initiatives (such as tax cuts). Any time a Dem wants to spend money it’s an “emergency” and therefore exempt from the rules. Presto Majico – hands untied and the stealing continues.
Hearing this, seeing what’s happening, makes my heart ache. While I can be a temperamental person, these days stuff like this puts me on the edge of tears. I’m in handwringing mode.
I mean, MM, everybody, what are we gonna do? What can we do? What’s in it for those of us with consciences who hate this crap on both sides? I definitely know I’ll never hold myself a hostage to the Republican party because they’re just as bad as Dems.
I know I mentioned this on the other thread but, what are those like my husband (who’s in the military) and I to do who planned to buy a house one day and have a baby? We were just talking about getting ready to start trying for a baby the other day. These repugnant people are just ruining whatever’s left of the American Dream. Why invest in something that’s become a blighted nightmare?
These people (Repubs and Dems) only care about their fave donors and the constituents who buy their BS. What about the rest of us? Where’s our representation? Who’s our representation? Who’s our voice?
I feel so betrayed on so many levels, economically, socially, and politically. All levels of American society are corrupt, self-indulgent pin-heads who wouldn’t know their conscience from a hole in the ground. It just seems so overwhelmingly hopeless right now, whether we reverse such perversion of our Constitution and founding principles or not.

We have let so much slide by for years, and years. Being asleep to politics, and how deep into losing our rights we have been going a little at a time, our morals, our judgements have all been going a little at a time, until now, as we are on the brink, a president and Congress that became so blantently Marxest, that we are finally beginning to wake up.
Now we need to drop to our knees, and beg for help.
Neal Cavuto just reported that the “student loan” bill is imbedded in the middle of the health care bill. Another take over by stealth.
Haven’t seen the video (can’t get youtube at work), but I believe he’s making a broader point about Congress and this may be a case of shooting the messenger. Perriello has hosted more townhall meetings than about any Congressman that I am aware of (my rep, Minority Whip Cantor, has had almost no meetings). He is still a weasel and a liberal, but I’m not going to flog him on this one.

I’d love to try and answer your plea, if I had an answer. None of us do yet we’re headed off a cliff driving 90mph blind without a seatbelt.
You very simply outlined in the most honest profound way what the entire nation is feeling though. It’s ripping out the hearts of anyone that has dreams and hopes for a better tomorrow. All we can do is pray to the Father to watch over us and embrace the resolve to change what we can/as soon as we can. It will take solidarity and a good deal of work to find the candidates we need to elect in Nov..
Babies seldom show up when you think the time is right. They’re sneaky little critters that seem to only appear when you’re dead broke!
emjem24: Hang tough and go ahead and have that baby (and maybe some more) and buy that house just to spite these evil-doers. Don’t let the abortion lobby claim they have prevented another life because you refuse to try and have a child!
Kids have a way of enriching your lives in so many ways — and grandkids are the whipped cream and cherry on the top! Just think, your bringing a child (or 2, or 3) into this world is acknowledging God’s reasoning that the world is still OK.
Show your little one(s) what hard work and determination can do to better their lives and make them proud of you and your husband for standing by your convictions. Make sure you override the garbage from the gubmint schools so they grow up with minds of their own and can think for themselves!
Many times the world has looked pretty crummy (The Great Depression, World Wars, the Carter years) but we emerged to the Reagan era and that was worth the wait!
There are many more good times to come once we get rid of the current crop of Congresscritters — and your kids wil be the future voters to help keep things in line!

Rep. Perriello (D-VA) is listed as a probable YES vote on the health reform bill on Hannity.com
Rep. Perriello is a freshman Congressman who barely won his seat in 2008 by 727 votes (50.08%). And that was before the Republican win in the Virginia Governor race.
It looks like there are several Republican and Independent candidates lined up to run against him in 2010.
I want to see all of those candidates applying pressure on Rep. Perriello in the local and national media between now and the vote!
The candidate who makes the best case against this health care bill and the “Slaughter solution”, should get lots of campaign contributions before the upcoming 3/31 FEC reporting deadline.
We need to make this a national effort to vote any “Deemocrat” who votes in favor of this health care bill out of office in 2010!
In the meantime,call Rep. Perriello’s office to remind him how vulenerable his seat is.

Explain good from bad and ethics.
When he/she is old enough give them the constitution and have them write down what it means.

The voters of that district threw out one of the few Republicans that actually wanted to do something about the illegal alien invasion. Virgil Goode was one of the good guys in the GOP, as few as they are. Charlottesville is full of overeducated idiots.

Thank you all for your advice and words of wisdom and I really do appreciate it. My husband is caught up with the economics of kids and is reticent to have a child during this recession. I’m nervous for both myself, my husband, and any potential child and what our future will be.
It’s been a tough year and it just feels like what’s happening to our country is one more piece of stress we don’t need. Our military members work hard and I see it every day when my husband comes home from work. Things aren’t a dream right now in the military where budgets are tight and people are stressed, both personally and professionally.
For every health care story that Obeyme exploits there’s stories like mine of people workin’ hard, and plannin’ a future that now seems very iffy. There are real people that will be affected deleteriously by this sham of a health care bill who never did anything to deserve this except work hard, raise their kids, and pay their taxes. When do we get to hear the stories of people who have health care, pay out-of-pocket expenses, and don’t expect anything from the government except to be LEFT ALONE?
Anybody not crying over this or feeling heartache for our once great nation either has their head in the sand or is a conspirator to this nonsense. There’s gotta be a way to defeat this bill and these Dems. There has to be.
I’ll tell you one thing… we now know who voted for the bill and who will suffer the consequences. How dare these people think that they can sacrifice the 93% of US citizens for the 7% of uninsured and illegals who need health care? It doesn’t make sense.

While I appreciate the support you’ve shown for military members on your blog, I’ve seen the rabid anti-military, mischaracterizations of the ROE (doesn’t protect civilians it protects the federal government), and general misanthropic attitude for the US military. My family has displayed it. Former friends have displayed it. I trust neither and I do not trust random strangers to understand when they can use me as a political prop instead (what Michelle Obeyme does now with military spouses/families). The only reason Michelle Obeyme cares about the military is that she can find some useful military stage props for her political sideshow act.
While your heart is in the right place, perhaps you should just advise people to contribute to the Wounded Warrior Project and other similar military organizations who don’t have the misanthropic, attitudinal tendencies that a sampling of your more rabid critics have shown. Their beef is with former Pres. Bush and the military is the more convenient target. These people don’t care about the military with their “bring the troops home” chants, they want to downsize the military, further degrade morale, and overall free up some cash for intrusive government.
I like you Red Pill, and I know you get hit around a lot like a pinata by some posters on MM but I do appreciate your work. However, I’ve made it a general rule to no longer participate in blogs which have nasty, misanthropic diatribes about the troops like I just saw on your blog. It’s not your fault, you’re not responsible for their views, it’s just the way the statist/liberal mind works.

Perriello is the NY lawyer that replaced our fine conservative Congressman, Virgil Goode. Goode was hammered mercilessly by the local press for his unkind remarks about Islam (a strong selling point in my book) and the voters took him out in a wave of anti-Republican sentiment. Even then it was close, with V. Goode ahead until the inevitable recount with a (tada!!) Democrat winner.
Make no mistake, he is a Democrat through and through and will support whatever his masters tell him to support.

Folks, our congress isn’t stealing much, they are just giving us, their constituents, what we want. Free this, free that, free everything! And unfortunately 50% of us don’t pay taxes, so it is free. Until everyone in America pays the same tax rate under a national sales tax, and until everyone in America Lives under the same retirement rules, healthcare rules, and pension rules the system will collapse. Our tax code is one page long, the other million pages are exemptions to our tax code given to friends of Charlie Rangel. Our Social Security is looted because our Politicians and gubmint workers don’t care about it as they aren’t in the system. Our medical care and pension systems are totally irrelevant to the gubmint as they have their own cushy deal. This is why socialism works great only if you are in the politburo. the rest of the peasants eat gruel and drink to forget their miserable life.

One of the objectives of the Immigration overhaul of 1965 that Ted Kennedy ushered through was to dilute the voting power of American citizen through mass immigration from third world countries. It has been successful.
