Reports: An executive order to pay off pro-life Democrats?

Both Left and Right are hearing rumors that the Dems are drafting an executive order to quell pro-life Democrat opposition to the government health care takeover plan.
Daniel Foster reports the buzz at NRO. Marc Ambinder at The Atlantic tweets it here.
If Democrat Rep. Bart Stupak and his pro-life colleagues are feckless enough to sign on to the nationalization of 1/6 of the American economy and the bottomless generational debt it will incur for another worthless Obama promise and empty scrap of paper, God help us all.
President Obama meets with Democrats on the Hill at 3pm Eastern.
Work that reverse Midas Touch, Mr. President.

Steven Ertelt at LifeNews reports:
- It appears Rep. Bart Stupak has no deal with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on a last-minute attempt to stop the massive abortion funding in the Senate health care bill. As a result, Pelosi is moving forward with a Sunday vote on the bill and is meeting today with top lieutenants to see if she has enough votes.
According to The Hill, Pelosi made it clear at mid-day today that there will be “no separate votes” on any single issue, including abortion funding.
Conversations are reportedly still ongoing and there may be some attempt to accommodate Stupak and his coalition of pro-life Democrats, but Pelosi appears to be ready to see if she has enough votes for Sunday afternoon.
House Republican Leader John Boenher says she doesn’t and several different whip counts say she would need all of about 12 undecided members and a few of the Stupak group to get to the 216 votes needed for the bill. The numbers make it appear Pelosi is about 10 votes away form that magic number.
Rep. Dan Lipinski of Illinois told PRI radio that, “There’s still time” for Pelosi to change her mind about a deal and that “they still need the votes.”
But pro-abortion Illinois Rep. Jan Schakowsky says there will be “no vote” on a Stupak deal.
“There’s not going to be any deal made with Mr. Stupak…there’s been no deal whatsoever. He’s been told that his language is not going to be added to the legislation,” she told TPM. “We think we have the votes regardless, and we’re going to be moving forward. Yes. We do think we have the votes without him.”
Key undecided or leaning lawmakers right now, according to whip counts LifeNews.com has seen, include: Reps. Matheson, Carney, Dahlkemper, Nye, Schrader, Pomeroy, Space, Driehaus, Kanjorski, Kaptur, Lipinski, Mollohan, Tanner, Lynch, Rahall, and Baird.

Why in hell would Stupak trust anything Obama says or does? Obama could sign this executive order, let the vote happen, and then a week or a month from now reverse it.
Don’t be stupid, Stupak.
And after the bill passses and he signs it, another executive order to reverse it???
Talk about Charlie Brown kicking a football held by Lucy!!
Christians, please fast and pray.
He will cave. All politicians do.
The President has not learned one damn thing
This bho thinks his little golden eo pen is the way he wants to get things done in dc. Well, this bho, every eo a president signs can be un-done by the next president. If stupak is such an idiot to trust this bho he would cave, you are sol guy!

May God protect this country as our leaders have forgotten how (the majority party, that is).
God will be with us, no matter what happens this weekend.
The Democrats on Demon Pass will do anything to claim victory: the killing of the unborn, the collapse of our economy, the desertion of our elderly on Medicare, the destruction of our health care system, etc. and, in the end, it will lead to their failure and downfall.
Everything about this Obamacare push is criminal – the entire administration should be arrested
Perriello said he was uncommitted untill he saw two things (1) assurances from the Sentate in the form of a letter that the Senate would change the language on abortion funding and (2) a CBO report that showed that the health care bill would not be deficit producing. He announced that he would vote yes after Reid produced a letter without signitures and the CBO issued their initial/not final findings.
Perriello was just looking for cover. He is spineless and if he thinks he will get my vote he is wrong.
” with true penitence of heart, and the most reverent devotion, publickly to acknowledge the over ruling providence of God”
Amen
C,mon. Look deeply into the face of the man on the left. Then tell me you believe he is going to hang tough.
Anyone relying on Stupak to be an 11th hour saviour from this excrement sandwich is in for a huge disappointment. He’s enjoyed his 15 minutes of fame and is now ready to fall meekly into line.
No sense in getting upset at the various rumors and trial balloons the Dems keep throwing out there. Just keep up the heat and see if those waxen fools melt.
since when does an executive order trump legislation?
this doesn’t even make sense.
*A smiling P-BO will be a distant memory after tomorrow; This war against Obama will rage on regardless of how the vote turns out; He will not let up on his purposeful destruction of our beloved country, and we will not let up in our revolt to reclaim it; We have many lawful tools at our disposal; Let’s Roll!
The POTUSA is going to Congress at 3 pm ET to speak to the DEMS. He most likely will usher all of them into a room, lock the door and “put all of them into an hypnotic trance” – and they will emerge ready to “Fundamentally change” America for all time…..He will promise anything over and over and over until all COMPLY!
Our POTUSA is a pathalogical(sp!)LIAR and smooth operator!
He has found a way to “fundamentally” usurp the Congress’ effectiveness to represent the American citizens.
The “DEEM” procedure will be used for passing the “job-killing Cap & Trade”, the “job-killing Amnesty for Illegals” proposal, and anything else he and his socialists/communists Advisers decide to push through Congress.
As Charlie Brown says, “We’re doomed!”
What is the next step for the American citizens? jb
He’s a Democrat, how can he be anything else but?
How much is an executive order signed by an ineligible President worth?
Oh, that’s right, we decided to believe an image posted on the internet and just take his word for it……….
After all, upholding the Constitution isn’t worth getting made fun of.
Alinsky triumphs!
I’m praying that they will take the most illegal means to pass this thing (because the sharp knives are going to make sure it does) – at that point the entire Demwit party, including the WH, will be guilty by association. We won’t have to worry about the 1 or 2 renegades of the Repubs will cave and vote for it. It will then be a free for all in November.
” . . . stop the massive abortion funding . . . ” Huh?
This bill is bad enough without having to misrepresent what is in it.
First we were counting on the Blue Dog demoncrats to save us, then it was the Anti-Abortion demoncrats. Get a clue, American people. If abortion was that big of a deal to the Stupakites, they would be Republicans. They aren’t (by definition) so a reasonable person would conclude abortion is just one more bargaining chip. And so it is. Demoncrats would sell their families into slavery for a better office. Their soul belongs to the Party. And that means you too, Leiberman.
Personally, I am with Rush on this. By pinning our hopes on the abortion aspects of DemDeath, the opponents committed a huge tactical blunder. By focusing on that one item, we left ourselves wide open to having the rug pulled out from under us. Surprise! Guess what has happened?
Everything about this bill is wrong. Everything.
If Stupak got any kind of deal, “executive order” or otherwise, the pro-abortion caucus would bolt.
Pelosi has a problem. She can’t get anti-abortion and pro-abortion Dems together at the same time to pass this bill.
The only way to “pay off” a pro-life Democrat is to end the killing of innocent unborn babies.
Pro-life accepts no compromise.
So much for, All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States.
It’s time to discard executive orders and all procedural tricks that violate the Constitution.

Some of us (you and I included) are fighting for ALL of the constitution, including Article II Section 1.
I was going to make this same comment. This is all a game to them.
O-bow-mao even said it. He doesn’t care how it gets done, as long as it does. Go ahead Duh Won, tell us more lies.
I still think that the “fix is in” but who knows what the cost of buying enough votes to pass this monstrosity will be. I hope it is less than the stimulus.
Abortion enthusiasts like Obama, Pelosi and Reid will never bend to the likes of those with consciences and respect for human lives.
I live in Stupak’s district. He’s a liberal. He flip-flopped on the House bill at the last moment after telling me he would vote against it. His ADA voting record is 90%. All he needs to flip-flop on this is a “promise” or “reason” that will allow him to claim later that he was lied to, misled, hornswoggled, bamboozled or whatever will let him blame it on someone else, salve his conscience and fool enough voters to get him re-elected. If Pelosi needs his vote, he’ll give it to her when he gets a “reason” to do so.
Repeating myself from an earlier thread on this subject: Don’t anyone think this Stupak is anything but a sellout, traitor, Marxist. He’s for the health care bill, all but givernment paid for abortions. What a phony bastard he is, but he is a democrat.
That only works well with real people who vote. It’s not as effective with liberal lemmings, unfortunately.
Matheson (D-UT)was able to slip under the radar and vote no last time because there were enough yeas to pass the bill. This time he is waiting to see if he can fool the voters again by waiting till the last minute and pretend that he is against the bill.
He has fooled the voters in Utah time and time again by such strategic votes. His great ambition is to follow his daddy’s footsteps and be governor.
He is a calculating little crap weasel.
Driehaus was reported tonight to be a ‘no’ vote.
The section in the bill that will force citizens to buy insurance or go to jail must be immediately challenged in court.
Is any group getting ready to challenge this provision before the Supreme Court?
An “Executive Order” here seems like a handy “don’t blame me, it ain’t my fault” dodge:

After this is all over anyone who lives in a district represented by a Democrat, even if that Democrat votes against this travesty, needs to remember that person is still a Democrat. As long as people like that are returned to Congress people like The One, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid will be in charge in Washington. There is no such thing as a moderate or conservative Democrat. The party that included people like that ceased to exist a long time ago.
Payoffs?
With what?
The Treasury is BROKE!
You can only write so many Bad Checks before the Nation collapses under the weight of Debt, the Chinese cash in
their chips and start repossession of
assets.
Stupak has sold out. No surprise.
That crowd outside the capitol building should rush the place after the vote.
Now THAT would send a message!

How sad! I thought at least Stupak had some scruples but I guess not. I see my Rep, Chris Carney was right behind him for a few minutes. That jerk is history! I truly despise these people!
Bart Stupid, you murderous traitor. Why not just go all in and open up your own abortion clinic?
You are just as guilty now as if you had your hand on the vacuum.
You are a tool and I will hear a thousand unborn babies cry in my dreams tonight because of it.
