Bart Stupak Still Waiting for the Great Pumpkin

Sorry to overdose on Charlie Brown references, but those were the first things that came to mind when I read about Bart Stupak’s “deal” with President Obama that exposed Stupak as such a giant sucker that the Tootsie Pops people are considering suing him for copyright infringement.
Via HotAirPundit — Stupak might end up waiting longer for Obama to sign that executive order on abortion (or more importantly for it to actually mean anything) than the average American will be waiting to see a doctor in a few years:
President Obama signed the Senate health care bill into law Tuesday. He did not sign the executive order on abortion negotiated with Michigan Democratic Congressman Bart Stupak in an 11th-hour arrangement that may well have saved the entire health care reform effort.
A White House official told Fox, Obama will not sign the Executive Order Tuesday and has set no specific date to do so. Stupak predicted Obama would sign the order later this week. The White House said only that Obama would sign the order “soon.”
In two celebratory speeches Tuesday – one at the bill’s signing, the other at the Interior Department with health care advocates – Obama said nothing about the abortion issue or the executive order.
And really, why would Obama stick to any such executive order and anger what’s left of his base for a gullible member of congress who is going to be voted out of office in less than eight months?
Update: Apparently Stupak was planning to have all the unborn children he thought he was saving flown to northern Michigan for babysitting purposes, which is why he coincidentally announced these little airport enhancements.
Details from NRCC.
Update II: The White House is saying Obama will sign the executive order in private Wednesday — and no doubt rescind it the same way. Either way, Planned Parenthood isn’t too concerned.

Or like Homer Simpson.
“DOH”
Stupak isn’t gullible, just evil.
SUCKER!!!!!!!!
Stupak never expected it to be signed.
He traded the lives of children for new carpet at the airport. But then he can be comforted by the fact that some women would not be “punished with a baby.”
Maybe Peppermint Patti will give him the time of day.
SUCKA!

I consider Stupak a traitor. From the long view, it looks like this was the plan the entire time.
*P-BO and the lie du jous; I’m guessing Stupak has never spent any time in Chicago!
*Hey Stupak: “You lie, Baby killer!”.
I don’t think Bart Stupack ever thought Obama, the great liar, would ever sign that EO in the first place.
And he also knew if Obama DID (by some wierd stretch of the imagination) keep his word, it wasn’t worth the paper it was written on. Probably would have been inked onto Charmin, or Great Northern, so at least someone would get some use out of it for SOMETHING!!
I said it on another thread – Stupid is as Stupak does.
They announced a couple of hours ago that he’s signing it tomorrow in the Oval Office.
Even Biden is walking around thinking “They couldn’t have fooled me…”
The whole thing was a fig leaf for an issue that needed a fig leaf. Rep Stupak’s objection to the healthcare bill was based on something that did not exist.
The legislation did not overturn the Hyde Amendment. You’d have to bend yourself into a pretzel to believe that it did.
Rep Stupak wanted language added to the bill that would prevent individuals from paying for insurance with their own money that would cover abortion. That is the current problem with this bill, telling citizens what they can, or can not do, with their own money. Mandates.
Rep Stupak took a leap, realized the ridiculousness of the tenuous position he took and needed the fig leaf for cover. Whether the Executive Order is signed or not, Rep Stupak got what he needed, an out for being misguided and mischaracterizing the facts.
That EO will never be written or signed.
What kind of person would actually believe anything a megalomaniacal scumbag told him?
Gee, I wonder why Obama didn’t sign the meaningless piece of paper on “Praise Be to Barrack Day”? Could it be he didn’t want the hint of anything pro-life to mar his otherwise perfect, perfect day? Or will he discover some reason why he just doesn’t need to sign it? And what could StoogePack do about it…nada.
Do you like grape or cherry? If you can sell that you could be a sales executive at government Motors.
For that matter, even if Obama did sign an EO it would mean absoulutely nothing as the President can not legally order Congress to do anything when it comes to purse strings of the budget.
That was an interesting analysis, Zyzyg…thought provoking.
BABYKILLER!
Grape or cherry what? Soda? Ice cream?
Yet again you chose not to take issue with any of the specifics of my argument.
Rep Stupak needed a fig leaf for his idiotcy. He got it.
Yes it was. What are your thoughts?
Right. That’s why the dems in the Senate refused to include such “useless” language in their bill.
He can scrub, and he can scrub, but he will never get the taste of Obama’s hindquarters off his lips.
Stupak made a deal with the Devil and can suffer the consequences. No sympathy here.
This is the part that is ‘thought provoking’, Zyzyg: that Stupak signed out for Obamacare (for lack of a better name) over emabarassment that the Hyde Law was not superceded by his oposition to Obamacare, in your view. I would argue that since the Hyde ‘Amendment’ is not a Constitutional Amendment but rather a law (as a guide) for Congress to interpret implementation of funding options under Roe v. Wade, that this portion of Obamacare is in effect a nullification of the Hyde ‘Amendment’(if not an attempt at doing so), and thus legal (but offensive to me at least).
The bottom line to me is that if he really believed his cave-in would give him political cover with a President who is not only for abortion, but infanticide via partial birth abortion, he is either a fool, nuts like Massa, or just plain evil (in that he already intended to sign on but went with this extra soap opera until Sunday for backroom deals). All he got-other than another misuse of the taxpayer’s money- was a ‘promise’ of an Executive Order prohibiting funding for abortion (some time in the future) which isn’t going to happen-Obama doesn’t need to do it now and he is not going to piss off his pro-abortion base.
From now on, anytime I refer to or address a democrat, it will be as a baby killer.
They don’t call him Bart Stoogepak for no reason at all.
“The people of America believe it makes sense not to sign this order at this time…”
Like when the Liar in Chief said the people of America thought it made sense to use the 51-vote rule…
What a liar obama is. Liar, liar.
Socialist also works.
Somebody watch Stu. He might be turning blue holding his breath waiting.
Stupak’s whole purpose was face time for his presidential bid. He never intended to vote ‘No’.
When Stupak found the head of a horse on his bed he caved. People who think otherwise do not understand Chicago politics.
Thre is NO such thing as a moderate democrat as Stupak stupidly less us know. Consider All dems as having voted for this bill. Drive all the Dems out of office as soon as possible.
“And really, why would Obama stick to any such executive order and anger what’s left of his base for a gullible member of congress who is going to be voted out of office in less than eight months?”
Because it’s a worthless piece of paper. Stupak knows it. Obama knows it and only the morons who voted for Stupak don’t
The only reason Stupid held out was to see if their were enough votes to pass this garbage and once their was, he could not be accused of casting a deciding vote. It was all shadow boxing and play acting. There is no such animal called a Moderate DemocRAT.
If the democrats believe the studies they were touting before the bill was passed(Families USA, found that without reform, 275,000 American adults will die prematurely over the next ten years because they lack insurance), then Obama should be charged with murder for not making it effective immediately. The other alternative would be to admit they are liars. I wouldn’t count on the media to ask for an explanation.
The man is so stupid, so naive, so utterly dense, at least in one interpretation of his actions, perhaps it is time for him to switch parties. We can always use another RINO.
Benedict Stupak wasn’t fooled, he fooled the people of Michigan by pretending to be for their values.
The mask is off.
Support Dr. Dan Benishek, Benedict Stupak’s Republican challenger.
Dr. Benishek may not be a polished, PR-savvy politician. He may not have a well-oiled campaign machine (his wife is answering the interview phonecalls).
But, as I argued with Marvin the manic pundit (Allahpundit), isn’t that exactly what we want?
How’s that worked out for us, getting the slickmeisters elected, again?
Mr. Stupak, dealing with the corrupt gets you nothing but letters asking you to change your name from Stupak to Stupid.
There is no dem alive that has truly heartfelt “convictions” that aren’t up for sale somehow. Morally bankrupt people all.
When the truth gets out, stupak will be gone. If you are going to stand on principle, then you must stand on it. It is obvious that he caved and now it is obvious that he caved for thirty pieces of silver.
The real issue is that people like stupak and obama have been given far too much power thanks to the growth of the federal government. The founders knew what could happen, warned us, and we ignored their warning to our peril.
One final point, freedom is not free and every generation must not only learn that lesson but fight to remain free. This is going to be tough because the barbarians who hate freedom are with the walls not across the pond.
Hey! mrcakes has one of those & I’m positive he didn’t pay $85,000 for it.
+1000 … I’m in total agreement!
Where did you receive your doctorate on the abortion issue? After yammering, you should at least cite or link to an expert opinion.
Even if Odrama Queen signs it, the healthcare portion kicks in at what – 4 years..? ‘Bambi made a real sacrifice on that one. Haha, wonder if ‘Bambi will still respect in the morning for that little private signing?
I like that. It’s too bad no one in the media will ask your question at an Obama press conference.
“Mr. President, you and Democratic members of Congress said that tens of thousand of Americans die each year because they do not have health care insurance. Why are you forcing these people to die by waiting 4 years to kick in the provisions of your bill?”
I think President Obama will sign the EO (quietly – don’t want the base to get the wrong idea). Stupak is off the hook (in his mind) and hey, he can’t help it when the President rescinds the EO sometime in the next 4 years. After all, he stood firm for the unborn, he stood for his principles, yada, yada, yada. There is so much evil in all of this.
Ah, the audacity of courage – Obama supports abortion. PP knows it and that’s why they’re not upset: they know the EO was a ruse for Stupak and his band of merry tricksters … um, pro-life Democrats … to jolly-up the folks back home while coming out in support of health care, and that the bill’s original intent of providing a circuitous route for funding abortions with taxpayer money will remain in tact.
See how Progressives treat Democrats…like dirt. One day the great American Democratic party will realize they have been stuped by the clever commies.
Reality is a b!tch!
Obowmao: “Psyche!”
This is nothing more than a charade folks. Obama and the ‘Stupaks’ on Capitol Hill knew exactly what they were doing when they released the smoke screen of rescinding abortion finding through an EO. It will most likely be signed as promised. Then let the federal lawsuits begin. A liberal (or maybe even not-so-liberal) judge will place a stay on with-holding federal funding until writs, motions and other forms of legal gobbledygook can be proffered by PP lawyers and other advocacy groups. The lawsuit will course through the court system and eventually be struck down. In the meanwhile, nothing will have changed. Until November 2010.
I pity Bart Stupak. He had an historic opportunity to rise to the level of a great statesman and American leader. Instead, he failed to be a man and stand on principle. He is now forever cast as one of those sad and pitiful wretches who sold their birthright for a bowl of stew.
When Marines are down they adapt, improvise and overcome. Failure is not an option. In this illustration Bart dropped his rifle and ran. Too bad for him too bad for America.
Nothing that this administration does is “by chance”. They knew all along what they were going to do and how they were going to do it. Stupak, in the words of Rush, is ” a glittering jewel of colossal ignorance” to have sold his integrity (assuming he really had any) for his birthright.
FartStupak wasn’t fooled, he’s part of Dem deception. Just another cog in the lie machine.

STUPAK was never going to vote NO, O-BOZO was never going to sign an EXECUTIVE ORDER… The LOSERS, the people in Michigan that voted for this MORON…
Schroeder is playing Stupaks swan song.
Authority figures are telling him “Blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah.
What’s this about an airport deal for Stupak? Was he unable to resist the lure of Barry’s wide stance?
I did not know there was such a doctorate program, but alas, I do not have have such a degree.
I stand by my opinion that Rep Stupak advanced a non-issue. The Hyde Amendment was not threatened in the Healthcare Bill. You’d have to twist yourself into a pretzel to prove that was the case. Rep Stupak was tilting at windmills.
Any government mandate is a bad thing. Mandating what an individual can, or can not, do with their money is wrong. Mandating that your private resources can not pay for the coverage you want is wrong. Do you agree or disagree?
You don’t need any kind of expert to answer that question.
Stupak LIED to his supporters all along! Here’s a video of when they finally found out.
Oh, he’s soooo brave huh? /sarc
Repeat after me – LIBERALS ARE LIARS.
