Star Parker Running for Congress?
I’ll admit my bias up front: I really dig Star Parker.
When I first met the former “welfare queen” back in 2004, it was like meeting a rock star. I shared a panel with her at a conservative student conference. I was so nervous, my voice shook. She was relaxed, funny, and informative.
In this month’s issue of World magazine, editor Marvin Olasky says Parker is running for U.S. Congress against Rep. Laura Richardson. It’s about time.
In her autobiography and in the article, Parker admits to some hard things. She’s had several abortions. She did drugs, cheated the welfare system, and committed crimes. The rough road led to a dramatic change of lifestyle and beliefs. She surrendered her life to Christ, became pro-life, and sounded the alarm against government dependency. Parker encourages those living on handouts to break the chains of poverty and find purpose and meaning in their lives.
In Uncle Sam’s Plantation: How Big Government Enslaves America’s Poor and What We Can Do About It, Parker traced the shift in America’s attitude from a belief in strong families and hard work to the flawed idea that the government’s role is to solve social problems.
“Social engineers of the late 1960s told Americans that black people could not take control over the poverty in their lives due to centuries of racism and segregation,” Parker writes. The onus was now on society to “fix” poverty, and taxpayers are still pouring money into it. But poverty can’t be fixed with money, Parker asserts. Moral bankruptcy, caused by the scourge of relativism, must be overcome. Government safety nets allow people to escape the consequences of personal behavior. As a result, there is little incentive to learn from bad behavior.

I also love Star! Good luck to her if she does indeed run. I imagine all things in her past will be brought up daily by richardson. Star will get the Sarah treatment by the d’s! I have a feeling Star will be as strong as Sarah is dealing with crud against her.

The first time I saw her on Hannity I was worried about what she might say, I feared she was a liberal. Boy was I surprised.
I like her. I hope she can win. I’ll be supporting her.

I read Star religiously and she is going to be a huge threat to their agenda.A sense of purpose and morals or the 2 things they hate the most.The fact she found God and turned her life around is out of the realm of possiblity to them. What if they find out she mentors many children you just might get to see the socialists head explode. They forgot to instill in her no matter how hard they tried that she couldn’t succeed and we are the better for it.

Star would be great! Laura Richardson is one of those “who in the world would vote for her?” candidates who needs to go now! Embarrassing for her district, and voting on issues she obviously doesn’t understand as evidenced by the financial irresponsibility in her own life.
Of course, you realize that if she does, she will be subjected to vile Sarah Palin-like smears and attacks by the left-media hive.
Doubtless with a fundamental theme of ‘traitor- to- her- race’.

This is awesome news! I was wondering if Star would eventually make this move because she has such a dynamic personal story and her story is a tale of caution regarding Federal dependency.

Star Parker is awesome. I got to hear her speak at a pro-life event a few years back. She has passion and conviction, that’s for sure.
join her FB page, build the momentum early. that’s how we did in in MA and it worked. No need to stay upset about Obamacare, its time to get to work and not to let our guard down for a moment. too many cliches, i know, but its true.
She’d be great in congress. I hope she is ready for the racist and misogynist attacks that the “tolerant” liberals will throw her way. I suspect she is.

I highly recommend her first book, “Pimps, Whores and Welfare Brats: From Welfare Cheat to Conservative Messenger”… a fantastic read.

Star is a star, a bright and shining one and I’ve enjoyed so many of her articles. What an inspiration and roll model for young women, especially those caught up in the problems of inner city kids that have just been abandoned and see no way back to a productive life.
zzzz – I’m starting to wonder if you were not abandoned at a Greyhound bus station – I would imagine that if there are any valid criminal charges against Ms. Parker that is a law enforcement matter and you know they’d be all over it.

Why wonder when you can ask a question? That is what I did in reference to Star Parker. Maybe there is someone out there who could actually answer the questions. Are you afraid of questions?
No, I do not know that law enforcement would be all over that. The Justice Department is not pursuing the Philadelphia voter intimidation case and they have dropped their investigation of the WV Congressman who had his feet in the fire. Law enforcement does not always do what we expect them to do.
Could it be that the satute of limitations have expired on any crimes she has committed? I don’t know and am not afraid of saying so. Therefore, I ask questions. In fact it is something that should have been addressed in the blurb about her.
I addressed and congratulated her on her conversion, but one line could have made it clear that her conversion included making things right.
That is a possibility, but I am more likely to use the socialist publicly funded utility recommended by Glenn Beck to educate myself, as he did . . . the public library.

Nothing against New York Public libraries or those who voluntarily gave their money to it. However, there are many government funded libraries across our Nation. Is that socialism? Are libraries in the Constitution?

It was already suggested that I buy her book however I am more likely to go to the publicly funded (socialist) libraries as suggested by Glenn Beck to learn more.

In other words the social engineers and the black pundits like Jesse Jackson are simply speaking racists, people who think blacks are inherently inferior and must be taken care of in a neat slave owner’s cocoon. They just pushed the slave ownership up to the level of government. They still worked to keep blacks relegated to a neat tidy slavery of victimhood.
