Is Global Warming Causing the Tea Parties?
The authors of this National Geographic story don’t come out and say it, but the timing of the publication of this bit of “news” is interesting given recent events (or, more precisely stated, how those events have been reported), especially because this same theory has been around since Al Gore was just a twinkle in Charles Ponzi’s eye:
Global Warming Making People More Aggressive?
Global warming could make the world a more violent place, because higher temperatures increase human aggression and create volatile situations, a new study says.
The report combined government data about average yearly temperatures with statistics on the number of violent crimes committed between 1950 and 2008.
Based on those records, the authors estimate that if the average temperature in the U.S. increases by 8 degrees Fahrenheit (4.4 degrees Celsius), the country’s murder and assault rate will jump by about a hundred thousand cases a year.
A 2007 report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change projected that global surface temperatures could rise by 2 to 11.5 degrees Fahrenheit (1.1 to 6.4 degrees Celsius) by 2100 if no mitigating steps are taken.
Higher temperatures can increase human aggression in myriad ways, said study co-author Matthew DeLisi, a sociologist at Iowa State University.
Brad Bushman, a psychologist at the University of Michigan who specializes in human aggression, agreed.
“Hot temperatures make people cranky and irritable,” said Bushman, who did not participate in the new research. “Cranky, irritable people are prone to aggression.”
When I read the story it occurred to me that if the Gorebots haven’t thought to link the “angry” health care protests to global warming and use that as justification to quickly ram through Cap and Trade, immigration “reform” and any other number of grand schemes that are in the works before somebody gets hurt, N.G.’s revelation might prompt them to do this very thing. Just something to be on the lookout for.
How long will it be until Al Gore sees this story and thinks to link global warming and tea parties? Put me down for three days — two if it’s warm this weekend.
As a side note, it’s amazing that National Geographic is still referencing the discredited 2007 IPCC report. Does NG not stay up to date on science news (ignorance of the flaw is no excuse)? If that’s the case, there are Japanese soldiers living in caves on remote South Pacific islands who haven’t heard that the war is over who are more up to speed on current events. Or it could be that N.G. refuses to question the report’s legitimacy because they have some vested interest in continuing to perpetuate the hoax? Either way, these people are getting to be like Dan Rather still running around showing everybody the Bush National Guard documents.

NATGEO used to be a great publication. It has been taken over by the fringe LIBTARDS and is basiclly crap anymore. I stopped subscribing years ago and I was not wrong to do so.
Sooo, are you saying people from warmer climates are more violent? Say, like… Africa?!
RACIST!!!
/looks at the Middle East…
Well… does kinda make ya go… hmmmmmmm….
OT
Obama will order banks to write down the principal of millions of ‘troubled’ mortgages. Some financial incentives (ie, our money) to the banks.
Well, my 2 year old son is going to be paying taxes either for the interest on the debt, or the debt itself, for the financial incentives to banks to accept write-downs on the mortgage.
Ditto the other 3.
Their children will probably still be paying interest on this debt, that probably just gets rolled over and over again.
And todays teenagers and college students, and young people in apartments, may discover home prices have taken a tumble, but will find few lenders that want to lend money at anything approaching reasonable rates when goverment diktat may also wipe out those loans.
That may be part of the plan, along with the Dodd rules. Eventual nationalization of the banks. So besides Obama and his chosen successors choosing which businesses get credit, and which are starved, loyal party members may have access to home loans, and others will have to stock money under the mattress until they have enough to buy a home with cash.
And with effective taxes on the few left working in the private sector well over 50%, probably considerably higher, it’ll be rather hard to save any money at all.
Hat Tip:
The Jawa Report
Back on Topic- those Vikings, the Nazis, the Huns. Must be double plus ungood hot in Northern Europe.
Does this mean the Costa Ricans and Barbadans are the most violent people in the World?
Funny, I say the same thing about watching the History Channel and Discovery Channel.
The theory is BS. Margaret Mead proved that Samoans are the most fun-loving, peaceable people on earth.
Hangfire said:
A couple of years back while watching the History Channel I was watching an advert about an upcoming series or show, I cannot remember which, and it flashed pictures of Hitler, Mao, Mussolini, some others and then President Bush. I thought I was seeing things till my wife pointed out the same thing and both said WTF. At that point I stopped watching it.
From the article:
Gee, I thought I was cranky and irritable because of what some euphemistically call ‘the change of life’ – though come to think of it, what Congress and Obama have done will definitely bring on a ‘change of life’.
And that makes me really cranky and irritable!
Hot temps make me cranky.
That’s why I have A/C in the old LTD. Right above the 8-track.
The Ice Age was likely caused by Global Warming.
Here is the complete list in case you want to astound your friends.

Dangerous, dishonest idiots….
And, if I remember right, some “study” years ago supposedly showed that watching TV caused cancer, or some such nonsense….
More like it.
Since “global warming” is a colossal hoax of epic proportions (Just read the list Flyoverman posted of the myths of GW – if you have an extra hour to spare, anything that spews from the editors of Natl Geographic is suspect.
They, along with other mags: Natural History, The Smithsonion, etc. have been trying to convince humanity that we all climbed trees and liked swinging on vines millions of years ago. My question is: What happened to all the apes and monkeys found in the wild today? Why didn’t they evolve?
Oh, could some evolved into the editors and pervayors of so-called intellectually based scientific myths in publications eg. Nat’l Geo, etc.? Hummmmm…..?

Listen, I have been feeling “agressive” all winter, and we have had the most snow EVER. Last Monday, I had 14 inches of snow in my yard.. I was NOT a happy camper.
I did not enjoy wading through all that global warming to try and find a spot for my Chihuahua to have her toilette.
And as I set and look out at all the sunshine, and no more snow, I personally am feeling much better.
I think these Gorebots better find something else to fixate on. The weather will always be here, changing as it has done for a few thousand years. Warm at times when it’s needed, and cold at others for the same reason.
So there is Nobody living near the equator because it was so hot, they all turned aggressive and killed each other….why do these dopes writing junk urban myths, make it into the public discourse?
There was an ongoing joke while I was in Iraq that if we just built a dome over hte middle east and pumped in A/C everyone would just lay down there arms and bask in the cool air.
I remember way back when, when National Geographic better served the public by supplying prepubescent boys naughty pictures of topless natives, not spewing this global warming garbage. Come on N.G., how about a retrospective for us deprived (depraved?) boys?!
Okay, I’m a little nervous about the 100,000/year number – especially since they can’t even convert Celsius to Fahrenheit.
Here’s a start…

To this day, I get “excited” every time I see a woman with gold neck-rings and a two-foot high neck. True, not very often……..
……not to mention lip-plates.
Whoops! strike #19.
I already saw this episode on the Twilight Zone.
I inherited a complete 1916-1957 National Geographic collection from my late mother-in-law and have maintained my own subscription since then.
It is interesting to read the old issues but I too am troubled by NGs recent liberal bias.
Errah I don’t know about that tea party angle but it is responsible for me sitting on the beach in my thong eating krispy cremes and drinking skaaatch while smoking a pack of chesterfields . . . .
I only viewed the NG African pictorials for the cultural and scientific enlightenment. No, REALLY. (Mom bought it!)
Re global warming and tea party – They need a research project to determine this? In July you sit on the porch with your iced tea. I’m not even a scientist and I know that much. Sheesh.
Given this logic Polar Eskimos should be complete pacificts. I guess they assume mammals are cold blooded.
Errah that must be why there no one left standing on the sun during the day but maybe at night. SCIENCE BE PRAISED!

Dyam! Is it getting hot in here or is it just me?
How racist! They’re called !Kung, Khoi or Khoi-San people. No one calls them ‘bushmen’.
The only interesting thing about old back issues of NG are the advertisements for cars of yesteryear.
So how many times per day would you thus enlighten yourself? Not prying mind you, purely for research.
My question is how much of my tax dollars were spent on this stupid study?
Maybe we should just cancel government funding for idiotic scientific studies and use the savings to pay down the debt.
Whoa – idiots! It’s College Degrees, which have increased from about 6% of the population in 1950 to what – 25% today? The increase in crime caused by an increase in College Degrees would have been even worse if it weren’t for the fact that College Degrees also cause Global Warming which has a dampening effect on crime. Besides, everyone knows it’s really Booooshes fault.
This is a cover/excuse prompting Cap & Trade. I hope people are sharp enough to see that. The Greens (and PETA-types) are VERY emboldened now.
Myself, I’m (paper) mailing National Geo for their LACK of counter-global warming and fair nuclear power programming. I’d do Discover/Science/Green/Animal Planet series as well, but everyone should get on top of this because these folks feed our kids’ brains every day.

Hahahahahahahahahahahah!
(or vice versa in this case…but excellent)
Down South (yes, capitalized), you are offered ice tea or Sweet Tea to drink at lunch time. Yummmmmmmy Sweet Tea!
Actually, the NG’s were in the family room and we couldn’t take them to our rooms. Kind of like the reference library. Hey, maybe mom was more shrewd than we thought. Ya think?
Be careful walter, divergent thinking like that could get you elected in November.
It only makes us unwashed, lesser educated people more aggressive. The educated elite upper class that rules us is much civilized and so, immune. But it does scream for a need for our betters to protect themselves from the rest of us. If you are in government, the rest of us are all terrorists now.
Those who can be lead vs. those who resist.
In similar news, Carly Simon’s classic hit, “I bet you think this song is about you,” is also about the tea party movement.
NONSENSE! Only Brits drink tea when it is getting hotter!
And Englishmen go out in the noonday sun.
Better that than getting caught in the bathroom with a Glamour magazine.
Don’t forget the Mad Dogs …and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun.
The song is called “You’re So Vain.” Also, when attempting to be condescending, one should use correct capitalization. One should also use a correct quote from the song in their supposed title.
“You’re so vain, you probably think this song is about you.”
Did you follow the link to the NG article? Picture of an Australian railroad worker sweating and downing a beer. Maybe its the beer that makes him aggressive? Or a pesky photographer?
Clean up on aisle gene-pool!
What are you…a Harvard man?
I beg to differ WE82. Americans have the sense to put some ice in it. The bloody Brits will give you a piping hot cup of tea when its 90 degrees outside. I can’t help but wonder how their rigid traditionalism hasn’t killed them.
No, he’s CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!
“..tune in next week, boys and girls, for another episode of Captainnnnn Obbbbvioussssss…..!!!!
Yes, they deserve a good spanking. And so do I.
Speaking of which, I should mention I rather like McCain. He calls us his “friends” and it makes me feel welcome – like we belong.
Don’t bite. It’s a joke!
The numbers are skewed because they included executions by Pol Pot and Che Guevara, both operating in hotter climates.
I actually did ski that once (After the military I spent 2 years contracting in Iraq and Dubai was the point of entry).
As long as there is money to be made on global warming, you’ll continue to see lots of “studies” concluding that we’re all doomed. I remember the UFO craze and bigfoot; lots of studies and lots of sightings. All to make money. Nat. Geo. was a magazine I enjoyed since being a kid. I let it expire last year.
No. I am good at impressions, though. I was actually hoping he would come back and try to hit me for hypocrisy…which was the whole joke. Good to see somebody here shares my weird sense of humour.
Weird is the best kind, around here at least.
one has to scrutinize what one watches on any channel, most are owned by left wingers such as G.E., Discover Communications and of course News Corp.
NGEO and the Discovery Communications channels are the biggest supporters of climate change/global warming programing.
But the climate has been cooling while the Tea Parties have appeared. But then, people like a warm beverage in the cold.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if NG magazine likes IPCC 2007, because I suspect NG is used as a source by the IPCC. NG’s green running mates certainly are in there.
National Geographic should change it’s name to Global Green.
I ain’t convinced…show me some I.D.!
Don’t forget Disney.
Global Stupidity is what’s causing the TEA parties.
We’ve had a pretty warm March in Virginia this year, except for today. I haven’t felt aggressive. It’s been more of thankfulness and cheerfulness.
The warmists had to retract their much touted caw farts cause global warming …
But this is almost as funny as that was.
very curious as to what report says that “mitigating steps” will effect global surface temperatures.
This is why Obama wants to take over the insurance industry – he heard they have very large unbrella policies…
The National Geographic article totally explains the Cold War! If Russians lived in a warmer climate, then they would’ve been more aggressive (because Russians are always so docile), and the Cold War wouldn’t have been cold! Thank goodness for all the snow in Russia that kept them from setting off the nukes.
Does this mean we should all move to Alaska and Canada in order to enable World Peace?
Definitely explains why Germany invaded Poland, though.
it’s not the weather.
it’s because we’re RAAAAACISTS LOLOLOLOLOL
oh and how about the black congressmen going out of their way to poke the tiger with the stick through the bars by for some reason walking outside the capitol buildings in front of the citizens who are demanding their rights back?
talk about a sickening and fraudulent race-baiting set-up, a manufactured stage act to be able to suckerpunch american citizens with this awful grab of our rights and then feign fear and outrage when we’re angry, what total swine these subhumans who call themselves democrat really are.
I cannot think of a derogatory term strong enough for this kind of filth, that would deliberately spit in citizens’ faces with this awful anti-american freedom grab, and mouth off all year long about how they’ll “punch back twice as hard” and “bring the fight” and all that violent language, and then they fake all these bogus accusations against us. what total scum. cowards. cretins. creeps. just the worst kind of subhuman swine on the planet, no one else would do this.
Yeah. I can make up phony statistics too and even make it sound like “science.” As long as I use those proven “liberal scientific” words like estimate, if, about, projected, and could.
Typical. Liberal. Pseudo-scientific. Garbage.
Zhe National Geographic article would have been well served by accompanying it with photos of violent protesters from 2000-2008.
Oh, right. That doesn’t fit their lie.
Nevermind.
One of the ten principals I worked for offered that theory as to why students fought in school.
Bogus. They fought because they were encouraged, taught at home and not punished for it because of quotas from Atlanta, Georgia.
Well, to show you just how “funny” this topic is, on Queens Public Cable TV last night, Alley Pond Park (aligned with Queens Botanical Garden – think Worlds Fair site), is airing a kid-friendly PSA “A Green Earth Is A Peaceful Place ” to prompt schoolchildren to push all “green” cleaning and lawn products and zero paper bags and bottles as well as “eat green” (would you believe them “suggesting” a punitive beef “sin-tax”?). If it got this far, then it’ll certainly be the motto for the NYC Parks Dept and EPA (so goes all the schools) . That’s why I don’t joke about anything the Green crowd does. They’re serious about changing your lifestyle, and last election they just got the keys to drive it.

They only think they’ve seen angry. Just wait…
In kindergarden when we got angry we had to go stand in the corner until we could be nice. Apparently about 70% of the country today needs to stand in the corner.
Truth be told – when I had to stand in the corner (frequently enough), I spent the time thinking about how I was going to nail the creep that made me angry. Still a good strategy!
We ended our subscription to the National Geographic about 7 years ago and renamed it the National Geopolitical.
