Back in the saddle
Just returned to Colorado this evening after a fun-and-sun-filled vacation with my family. As wonderful as the trip was, I’m glad to be back in the Springs. California is still a fiscal basket case. Big Labor and the Open-Borders Lobby still rule the collapsing roost. I still have 1994 Northridge earthquake PTSD. And the traffic still sucks. Anyway, we did our part to stimulate the tarnished Golden State economy by taking the kids to Disney Land/Disney California Adventure and Universal Studios, where my daughter and I successfully fought off Jaws (sorry to disappoint the libs, but I didn’t lose any limbs):

Also got to squeeze in a few days of fishing. While we still can, LOL. We tried our luck at Balboa Pier and Dana Point Harbor Pier. Lots of nibbles, but alas, we got skunked on both outings. Perfected my improved clinch knots to pass the time:

Our home away from home was a lovely rental in Laguna Beach. Here’s a view from the deck. Ahhhh:

Many thanks to Doug Powers, La Shawn Barber and Val Prieto for holding down the fort while I weaned myself away from work as much as possible. Please go visit their terrific blogs and tell your friends and family to do the same:
Doug is at The Powers That Be and he’s on Twitter here.
La Shawn Barber’s blog is here and she’s on Twitter here.
Val Prieto runs Babalu Blog and he’s on Twitter here.
Be sure to follow them all.
I’m back in the saddle tomorrow — tanned, rested, and ready to do battle anew.

That’s not “Jaws”…
That’s a healthcare bill!…
Welcome back, Michelle! Glad to see your trip was wonderful. I hope your batteries are recharged. We’re gonna need ‘em…

Welcome back, MM!
Glad you enjoyed your fun in da sun.
Enjoyed the pics that you posted — we used to live in quarters at San Onofre in San Clemente. I miss SoCal (the weather, the beaches, Orange County shopping) but not the crazies
Your little girl is big fast!
From the way you’re dressed in the fishing pic, looks like it’s a good thing global warming kept ya’ll from freezing out there.
Thanks for the pics! Looks like you had fun.
Welcome back Michelle! Thanks for the cool pix! Makes me a little jealous because the weather looked awesome there but it will be summer soon enough.
I wish we could give you a longer vacation, but welcome back such as it is, Michelle.
Oooooh I so envy that trip….sounds SOOoooooo relaxing.
Welcome back. I hope you all had good fun.
…and fishing? Hey, even if you don’t catch any, the WORST day fishing is still better than the BEST day working.
C’mon up to Wisconsin and fish for some Salmon on Lake Michigan. Good times and big fish.
…or if you are REALLY into fishing, go with us on one of our ice fishing trips to Devils Lake, ND. Now that is truly fishing.
Michelle, I get a little bummed every time you mention Colorado Springs…I was stationed at Ft. Carson back in the 80′s, have visited there a couple time since, and miss it terribly. Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods…Royal Gorge….I hope to make it back.
I forgot to mention, your relief crew, LaShawn, Val and Doug ALL did a very bang up job while you were absent.
A VERY good pick for relief.
This is, of course, is Fisherman’s Kata…
No matter how great the trip, it’s always good to be back in your own bed.
Its nice to get away and de-stress.
Glad you had a great time. That sunset photo is awesome!
….that sunset, in the temperature of California….I’m picturing a lawn chair, the other half nearby, after a barbeque, maybe something tasty to drink….serenity.
Only reason to come back to reality is to realize it’s in California.
Yaaaay! Welcome back!
Welcome back, looks like you had a super time and that mebbe your internal clock might be a bit off due the traveling.
Anytime my mom could find a stick, string, bent nail and a few worms it was fishing time.
I never caught that bug, but loved the fried results of her “gone fishin’” days.
Welcome back!
Welcome back Michelle,
Hope you are rested and ready to continue fighting the good fight.
God Bless you and yours
Doug, La Shawn and Val did great, they have very different writing styles, very interesting takes on various events. They fit in very well here.
That said, we missed you but are happy you are a family person through and through. As my late grandmother would preach, we should work to support our families meaning don’t be a workaholic at the expense of family!
Happy Passover to all our Jewish friends. May God the Father Almighty continue to bless you.
Seeking A “Boiling Frog” Logo for Political Rallies
Friends:
Because I fear the American public will forgive and and forget and feast on Obamacare by Nov. I’m looking for a politically devoted artist among you who’d be willing to create a “boiling frog” logo that one can freely download and printed out as a T-shirt or flag iron-on for use at rallies or street clothing. As inspiration, one could be of a sweating frog in a pot where the flames below might be labeled “socialism” or “communism”, or on the side a kind of “temperature gauge” showing where we are socially. If you’ve interest or know someone who might be please contact me at jimwg1@gmail.com

While MSNBC is pounding nails on conservative coffins with serious related issues on its morning shows, “Fox & Friends” is mostly serving us mindless silly features.
Add:
Make that a sweating smiling frog.

You mention improved clinch knots.
You live in Colorado.
If you ain’t fly fishing yet, it’s time to start!

Welcome Home … We missed you …
Welcome back MM…family vacations are more and more priceless as time goes on. Believe me, my son is nineteen and in college and family time is precious. Take the time to recharge the batteries and love those around you. The future is today.
Welcome back, Michelle.
I’d say I missed you, but I had some stuff to celebrate this weekend myself, and wasn’t around to notice.

Welcome back Michelle, that pic requires some Quint.
~ Y’all know me. Know how I earn a livin’. I’ll catch this bird for you, but it ain’t gonna be easy. Bad fish! Not like going down to the pond and chasing bluegills and tommycod. This shark, swallow ya whole. Little shakin’, little tenderizin’, down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that’ll bring back the tourists, that’ll put all your businesses on a payin’ basis. But it’s not gonna be pleasant! I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I’ll find him for three, but I’ll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you’ve gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don’t want no volunteers, I don’t want no mates, there’s too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.~ Quint
Welcome back Michelle.
I’m wondering if while you are on vacation you are recognized and “bothered” by many people? I know if I saw you I could not resist saying hi, telling you I post at your blog and maybe asking for an autograph.
Michelle nonchalantly blows the smoke of the end of the Tazer, while poor Bob flops around writhing in agony.
Welcome back, Michelle! You were missed very much.
No wonder you got skunked, you can’t go fishing without beer!
Glad to see you back, Michelle! More vacation pics, please.
Glad you are back in the saddle where a friend is still a friend and the long horn cattle lowe.
Glad your back, Michelle. We missed you.
It was good to hear you had a wonderful vacation with your family, Michelle. Keep us informed on things the msm won’t.

Michelle, you were in CA and didn’t autograph my book? @!$%&!*^#!!!

Now git to work! j/k
Loved the pictures and glad you were able to take the time off.
You big, grown-up kid, you! Disneyland is a great vacation!! We went to Disney in Orlando and it truly was magical. A great way to forget the cares of the world for a while. Glad you had a great time and glad you are back! Your guest bloggers were terrific and I will definitely check out their websites daily. Now, back to the grind!
Good to have you back Michelle, hope you had a great time off with your lovely family, after all that is what it’s all about…family.
Bless you and yours.
MIchelle ~
All three subs were good. While I have read Babalu before and heard of and visited The Powers That Be, this is the first time I learned of La Shawn Barber and her blog. Her writing is commendable. Now I have three more stopping points when I log into my trusty laptop.
Welcome back!
Glad you’re back, MM, and thanks for including the pictures! My family and I get our best vacation ideas from the photos of others; they’re like personalized brochures.
OK, OK, I’ll pretend I didn’t see her! LOL

Welcome back, Michelle–you missed the snow event in the Denver area.
***
And–now that you are all rested up–I think I hear the sound of a distant trumpet–and the sounds of a SHAMNESTY ARMY and their American Pravda supporters coming.

Like the defenders of the Alamo when the first of General Santa Ana’s soldiers appeared on the horizon. To the walls!

Well, I was close with my guess about Wally World. Welcome back.
Welcome back, Michelle. Thanks for contributing to the California economy! You’ve helped the state to stave off bankruptcy for a couple of minutes!!
Per the link below, it appears that even Colorado may be susceptible to a significant shaker. When it comes to mother nature, you can run, but you can’t hide.

MM, I suggest you email that shark photo “with love” to Keith OlberEichmann and company. They’ll be so hopping mad that the shark wasn’t real!
I was betting it was San Diego so wasn’t off much – yep, I was living in LA during that quake and I’ll take that over an ice storm in TX where you can’t stand up long enough to get to your car.
Glad you and yours had a wonderful time. Please thank your guest contributors for their patiance with us. We tried to be good…

*I’m guessing that’s a tax free tan you gave yourself; The best kind; Great to have you back, but it’s important to have balance in life to stay balanced, if you know what I mean.
*The 3 amigos did well in your absence; Good stuff all around.
And you didn’t swing by The Valley to say hi?
Bummer ; )
Yeah, I suppose if you’re going to spend a week at one of our many lovely, sewage-polluted SoCal beaches, Laguna or Newport would probably be your best bet.
Glad you and the fam had a good time.
Thanks to Doug, La Shawn and Val for keeping the shop open.
Glad you’re back and rested, MM. We need you more than ever. While you were gone, they deified Obama!
The link is a rendering of Obama’s head as Christ – you will freak out (as I did).
