Code Pink mob shuts down Rove book event
They’re baaaaaack in full force. The speech-stifling, original angry mob of Code Pinkos shouted down Karl Rove during a book tour event in Beverly Hills tonight — forcing him to cut his remarks short and leave before attendees could get their books signed. Code Pink co-founder/terror-coddler/Obama funder Jodie Evans pulled her old “citizens’ arrest” prank and stormed right up to Rove with handcuffs. She and other members tried to incite the crowd with shouts of “war criminal.”

The Code Pink mobsters have been waging these in-your-face attacks for years without so much as a peep of outrage from the selective NYTimes/MSNBC/Democrat civility police. See, for example:

Given how regularly conservative authors are tomato-ed, salad dressing-ed, pied and physically intimidated at speaking events, what’s shocking is not the Code Pinkos’ behavior or the silence of the liberal civility police, but the utter lack of preparation and security by the organizers of the Rove event as demonstrated in the CBS 2 video. As Dave Bryan reported:
KCAL 9′s Dave Bryan was there and said Rove “was shouted down and forced to leave the stage.”
Another woman screamed at Rove, “The only comfort I take is that…you’re going to rot in hell.”
Rove, meanwhile, charged that the people shouting him down were an example of the “totalitarianism of the left…they don’t believe in dialog…they don’t believe in courtesy. They don’t believe in first Amendment rights for anyone but themselves.”
There were several heated exchanges between Rove and his critics before he decided he had enough and he left the stage.
He called one detractor a “lunatic.” He told several others repeatedly to “get the heck out of here.”
Bryan reported that security was apparently lacking and Rove was “left to fend for himself.”
What the hell? Rove is not being served well.

By failing to provide adequate security the owners of the venue put Mr Rove and their other customers at risk. Could they be sued? Mr Rove would not want to do so because if he does other vendors will refuse to allow him to appear. Another customer who felt threatened or who feels that Code Pink infringed on their Civil Rights might have a case. Are there any practitioners of the Black Arts here?
There wasn’t any name-calling was there – otherwise the MSM will have to take the Tea Party movement to task for inciting Code Pink.
My guess is that the bookstore has a copy of Huckleberry Finn, and Rove chose this venue so that the N word – while unspoken – would be present to show his racist disdain for the Obama Administration.
If the vendors had any brains in the first place, they would recognize Mr. Rove is not some unkown fool trying to hustle a book about nothing, but that his appearance for better or worse is an Act of History. The Vendors, unless Rove signed off for the need for security, have liability in this. The question is: how much liability?
This is just plain disgusting! The media in this country is NOT doing their job! These people definitely don’t believe in free speech unless it’s their own!
Another day, another example of “free speech means you are free to agree with me”. Otherwise, shut up.
Code Pink is another example of how the Left has lost any credibility. Now that Teh Won has been acclaimed, their antics against the ongoing “Overseas Contingency Operations” have ceased.
Why in the hell don’t conservatives give it back to them?!?!?
There should be a contingency of conservatives at each event that unloads with their own tomatoes, pies, shouts, etc. on the leftwing a-holes.
Who gives a rat’s rear what the media propagandists will say? They make up stuff anyway. Give them something that they don’t have to lie about!

These are not the acts of “Civilized people”. All I can really say to Mr. Rove is, it may have been bad, but thank God every day that they left their shirts on, it’s really hard to defend yourself while vomiting.
I know it’s wistful, but since there’re hundreds of cases of specious and inane lawsuits making their way to court, hasn’t anyone ever tried an “biased/unbalanced” or wanton malicious neglect lawsuit against the MSM? I don’t blame the security here half as much as the MSM’s tacit willful neglect about covering pernicious acts perpetuated on conservatives. It sounds crazy, yes, but no less crazy than Greens becoming self-appointed legal reps for trees and insects. Surely conservative views are worth more!

Beyond ridiculous. I recall seeing a photo of a Code Pink protester with their hand painted red waving it in the face of Sec Rice. Code Pink protested at Pres Bush home in Texas, disturbing everyone. They have crossed the line repeatedly and this is one more time.
There has to be a better way.

Conservatives always underestimate the effectiveness of riots as a form of social protest. About 50 fairly large people confronting those noisy cows could have settled them down nicely.

Dialogue has long since past been an option with most of the left, and ever more so with “moderates.” Really, we are at a state of largely nonviolent civil war. That said, we have conditioned ourselves to not seizing opportunities when they arise to simple good old-fashioned butt kickings that are clearly in store for those that are essentially pressing the line of actual assault.
Code Pink epitomizes the behavior of the left which they then project as conservative behavior.
They do serve to accentuate the hypocrisy of the left, particularly the journalistically dead MSM.
What do you find after a liberal rally? Filth, garbage, vandalism, and arrests.
What do you find after a Tea Party gathering? An area that is as clean as when they arrive, litter free, no vandalism, and no arrests. You’d think the Boy Scouts had just had a Jamboree.
I disagree. What they wanted was to freely disrupt Rove’s book signing, and they were successful. That will only encourage more of the same. On the other hand, a dozen or so pink cows in the hospital might have a more… restraining effect.
Actually, had they just been barely touched, they would have squealed like stuck pigs and demanded the perpetrator’s be arrested. They like to bait their antagonists.
What you do is wait for them to leave and give them a sound beating in a quiet alley.
And all of the people who gathered to hear Rove speak and get their books autographed are left congratulating themselves on how peaceful and neat they were while somebody else was stealing their rights. It’s past time to stop being nice, to misquote Dalton (Roadhouse)

I admire people like Rove and Coulter for going into the lion’s den of our universities, however I think that they’re falling into the same trap every time they do it. I think that the administrations of those universities purposefully hang back with security and let the chaos happen.
The good news is that whenever those events get publicity, it always shows the leftists to be the unhinged lunatics that they are. Sometimes I think that is exactly the response Coulter is looking for.
Maybe next time he could take some lib like Frank Rich with him to immunize himself against hatred and violence. After all, we know it’s the right wingers that engage in these tactics, don’t we?

I think the best answer for things like this is one that the Patriot Guard uses at funerals where Phelps and his dirtbags are at. A wall of vets, just standing in the way. Don’t yell back, don’t push them, just stand there blocking their way. Once one of THEM touches you, that’s grounds for assault and battery charges. And very obvious contrast between us and them.

Because we (and I use that as a general statement, because the right has morons too, sometimes)…are better than that. There are those of us who believe that even if we vehemently disagree with what someone has to say…we believe they still have the right to say it. They may be completely backwards and incorrect, but it’s still their right to say and think as they choose.
I don’t, however, believe that them being given a blank check to run amok and basically do whatever they want, such as in this case, is anywhere near correct. Sure, have your demonstration outside where he is holding the event. Gather peaceably and protest or whatever…but acting like this shows the lack of decency or even basic home training that these nanny-state loving banshees possess. While I can’t say I’d love to see someone give it back to them in spades…I also know that going that low means we’re no different than they are…and personally, I don’t look good in pink.
We know this is classic liberalism, ad nauseum, with their behavior. People like Code Pink don’t believe in civil discourse. They know if they do exactly -this- (shout you down, cause a scene in front of the cameras, and generally be a PITA), that it will get media coverage and cause the person involved to react as Rove did (and rightly so I believe) in this case.
It goes without saying…when the left wants to preach tolerance, acceptance, and discussion of ideals…well, that’s only if you’re a card carrying leftist schill. Otherwise, if you have any conservative values at all…well, then you’re just dirt.

having attended many conventions you normally can not gain entrance to speech events like this one you need to be registered. Security won’t let you in without a valid badge. So my question is did the protester have a convention badge, and if so how did she get it? If not how did she get past security?

It’s difficult, but possible to be professional in defense of your client (Mr. Rove in this case). He should have professional safeguards set up to prevent recurrance, it can end very badly if not managed.

There are several reasons why conservatives don’t flatten these attackers: 1.)The smell. Ever get near to one of these “things?” I’ve worked at sewer plants in August and it was a breath of fresh air compared to these people. 2.)Touching them. There could be an accidential exchange of bodily fluids if I connected my right fist with their face. Ewwww. 3.)I have a job and a family that I support. Being in prison does not improve my income; it would help boost the numbers of people on assistance, however. Sooner, rather than later, people will begin to violate these rules. Boy, I miss Tom Lantos, who took down one of the Pinkies during Secretary Rice’s testimony a few years back….
