NJ voter exposes GOP Cap&Tax 8-er Frank LoBiondo’s constitutional ignorance; Updated: Truther questioner is no Tea Party activist

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 7, 2010 07:05 PM

A cringe-inducing moment for GOP Rep. Frank LoBiondo, who confuses the 1st Amendment with Article 1, Section 1 of the Constitution when confronted by a voter at a town hall meeting.

Next time, spare yourself the added embarrassment and just say: “I don’t know.”

Hat tip: The Hill (which hat tips Paul Mulshine of the Newark Star Ledger):

Republican Rep. Frank LoBiondo (N.J.) received heavy criticism from a Tea Party activist at a recent town hall meeting in his district.

In a YouTube video, the eighth-term congressman is grilled on his knowledge of the Constitution after he misstates the content of Article I Section I of the document.

The man who criticizes LoBiondo’s knowledge of the document is donning a “Don’t Tread on Me” t-shirt, a Revolutionary War slogan popular among Tea Party activists.

The lawmaker represents what is considered a safe seat but the video is an illustration of a recent poll that shows four in ten Tea Party activists are Democrats or independents, suggesting that Republicans may not receive their full support in the fall.

I remind you that LoBiondo is one of the notorious GOP Cap & Tax 8′ers — all of whom would do well to brush up on their constitutional knowledge. Here.

Update: The questioner, unfortunately, is a 9/11 Truther. Sigh. Well, even Truthers can expose real truths once in a blue moon…

Twitter reader Paul Stagg quips: “…so a crazy 9/11 truther has a better understanding of the Constitution than a congressman? I’m not really surprised.”

This is a cap-and-tax vote. The Republicans are voting against it because it interferes with their ability to exploit capitalism to fund their own illegal socialist schemes.

Until the socialists in both parties are booted out of Washington, neither party should be allowed re-election of its candidates.

It is really easy for someone to study a subject to be ready to ask or answer a particular question, but how many people know exactly what each and every section of the constitution says, without going back to read it. Not many, and certainly very few with the public education I received.

It is insane to expect politicians to know the constitution, they took the oath to get the power and money, not because they believe in anything.I believe this is the root of the problem, take away the power and money incentives and maybe we can get people who believe in doing what is best for the country, not their offshore bank account.

I would love to see the new “Duke Rape Rules” applied to the Kennedys! Tell me that wouldn’t be justice, if they weren’t too powerful to convict.

47% pay no tax. If you are a family of 4 making $50k or less, you pay no fed tax. In fact, many of these people get checks back from the fed gov’t because their tax credits exceed what they pay.

Where’s that free money come from?

    The other 53%.

The other stat was if I recall correctly, that 10% of Americans pay 76% of all income taxes.
