Farewell Friday trifecta: WH withdraws radical law prof Dawn Johnsen’s DOJ nomination

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 9, 2010 07:16 PM

Wow, what a day. Three makes a Farewell Friday trifecta.

Via WSJ:

Dawn Johnsen withdrew her nomination to lead the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel, after becoming a lightning rod for Republican opposition and languishing more than a year in the Senate confirmation process.

Ms. Johnsen, an Indiana University professor, was a strident critic of the Bush administration’s counterterrorism policies and the legal theories used to create them.

Those views and her past work for a group that supports abortion rights led stiff opposition from Republicans and some Democrats. The opponents made sure she never got a final Senate confirmation vote, although she was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The legal counsel’s office provides advice to the president and executive branch agencies on the constitutionality of their policies. Ms. Johnsen worked in the office during the Clinton administration, which gave her a platform to opine on the moves made by President George W. Bush to claim broad security powers relating to interrogation, detention of terror suspects, and government eavesdropping after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The office has become the subject of partisan dispute because the Obama administration staffed it with some lawyers who were critics of Bush policies. Unlike Ms. Johnsen, the staff lawyers didn’t require Senate confirmation.

More.

And so we end the day like we started it: DLTDHYOTWO!

    That Scott Brown election sure works magic for the confirmation process. If McConnell holds the line we may be able to keep a radical from getting onto the Supreme Court as well. Until the next Congress it will be ‘hold that line’. Then if Republicans get a majority in the Senate we may be able to increase the margin of Constitutionalists on the bench.

    =====

    Saturday morning we are going to see Glenn Beck’s American Revival. The DLTDHYOTWO libs are furious with him so I just have to support the man. It is in Glendale, Arizona where ever that is. I have heard rumors about Glendale but do not know anyone who has actually been there. If there are any Glendalites out there send up a flare about 9:15 so I can find it.

    Democrat Obama nominates professors for every constitutionally mandated and artificially created government position. He would nominate a Marxist professor for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

    Remember, Democrats believe in a Utopian society. A people controlled by a select few. Everyone created equal and all are satisfied with the bare necessities to survive. The real world has traitors, back stabbers, jealous and greedy colleagues. All of Barrack’s comrades are prepared to undermine the Obama Regime for their own benefit.

    These professors love to talk talk talk. They talk themselves into a suicidal Check Mate. We freeze their movements. The American people are showing signs they are sick and tired of the games. They will not tolerate left wing professors on the Big Gov stage. It’s up to us to keep the spotlight on each one of them.
