The patient as government pawn
We watched Team Obama and the Demcare mob grab any kiddie human shields they could find to help them pass the government health care takeover. They put medical professionals in lab coat costumes to shill for the plan. They peddled junk science statistics to scare the pants off voters. They bullied the non-partisan CBO number-crunchers over budget estimates that didn’t go their way. They created an Internet snitch brigade to intimidate citizen dissenters.
They wouldn’t use the law now to gather patient data and exploit it for political lobbying purposes like the Leftists are doing now in Britain, would they?
Personalised cards were sent to 250,000 women saying that the Tories would scrap a Labour guarantee that all suspected breast cancer patients would be seen by a specialist within two weeks of GP referral.
Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister, was under pressure from the Tories to investigate the mailings, although Labour said it was “categorically untrue” to suggest the party had targeted the patients.
The mailshots, which featured a message from a breast cancer survivor praising Labour’s policy, referred to the addressee’s name several times.
The cards ask specifically: “Are the Tories a change you can afford? Many of those who received the cards had undergone scans or treatment within the past five years.
In one instance a card was sent to a woman who had died of breast cancer. Another card was sent to a television producer who had a potentially cancerous lump that turne dout to be a cyst.
Diane Dwelly, a 48-year-old woman whose photograph was used in the mailing, said she thought she had “probably been used by Labour”. She said she thought her picture was being taken to be used in a magazine for the National Health Service, not as part of Labour’s election campaign.
The Sunday Times said the cards were sent last month before the date of the General Election was announced by a private company which has won accounts for sending mail on behalf of the Department of Health and Cancer Research UK.
They are part of a strategy which has so far seen 600,000 cards sent out. Some are aimed at parents whose children attend Sure Start centres. In all Labour is hoping to distribute 4.5million of the cards during the election campaign.
David Axelrod and David Plouffe’s legs are tingling.

Perhaps you should send the order form back marked up like most of us have sent the GOP’s fund raising letter back. You think they’d get that message?
I didn’t think so, either.
…and into the toilet of history.
Some of us never get a good nights sleep-in my case from finishing off the potato salad. But I will click right over to the Foundry and get my daily dose of “Side Effects of Obamacare”. It is like potato salad-keeps me up at night.
But these mailshots and cards are what these leftist scum- Brit, Yank or other do-play on the fear of the desperate and use government data and resources to do so. So much for medical confidentiality when der Reichs Fuhrer is in charge. But then confidentiality and individual autonomy are not conducive to the collective and will not be allowed.
If a British women with suspected breast cancer patients would be seen by a specialist within two weeks of GP referral I do not know. I do know Brits, personally know, who come to the United States for cataract surgery because they were on indefinite waiting list. I do know that if my cancer treatment had been under either the British or Canadian HealthCare I would be a bed ridden slug my now, bones eaten away by hormone suppressants. But let the weak and sick die for the good of the collective as you were told by former Senate Leader Tom Daschle: Progressive Solutions to America’s Health-Care …. Old Tom would not be cruel-keep pumping the morphine and when the breathing gets shallow………all for the good of the collective.
The Brits are a bit ahead of us cynicism and misuse of state power but only by a little and we are closing the gap. Jonah Goldberg’s book Liberal Fascism a few years ago had the left al upset “We are good people just trying to do the right thing”. Mussolini, Stalin and Hitler all thought they were good people just trying to do the right thing. They wanted a better state and a better world. And like Tom Daschle they didn’t how many innocents they had to kill to get there.
Jonah Goldberg does not feel American Fascism will be as barbaric as Germany due to the basic decency of the American people: Really? Germany had the finest mental and physically handicapped “havens” in Europe. They were the models for American and British reforms. When the NAZIs declared these poor souls Lebensunwertens Lebens German doctors insisted that Himler’s plan of mobile gassing vans was cruel. The doctors used sedatives and barbiturates to eliminate these drains on society: Death with Dignity? But those doctors were employees of the State as it were.
I will not walk meekly into the camps.
what a joke…it isn’t worth 2 cents let alone $50…
I hope you ordered a couple Michelle, they appear to be great gifts for regifting!
Of Webster? No thanks. I see he still hasn’t got a black family. Really, what’s up with that?
I believe that whenever a non-politico goes to DC, they would be well-advised to keep one hand on their wallet and one on their zipper.
Which brings me to the picture of the “historic” signing…does anyone know where Biden’s other hand is?
Shills, stooges and props. The Obama way.
I have a friend who is a doctor. He’s in research, and spent a few years in a London facility. When his child got strep throat, he considered himself lucky that he happened to be on this side of the pond when his wife called with the news. She couldn’t get the antibiotics they needed – he had to bring them from the US.
Anyone who follows Britain’s healthcare, know how horrible it is. I would rather fly back to the U.S., than to be treated there. As with any industry, if there is no incentive, the workers just do their job, and no more. If our own healthcare ends up like that, I’d rather quit the field, than shuffle patients and paperwork, and act like I care, when I could be reprimanded for being so. Patients die, waiting for a specialist or surgery. Nurses and other medical workers are overwhelmed and have reached the point of “doing the job” and no more. Hospital induced infections are at a crisis. Yet, PC is the rule, and government control the law.
Obamacare, the Final Solution?
Kind of off topic but did anyone see that Fox is running a documentary on April 18, 9:00 pm Eastern about our radical Nitwit in Chief? I received an email alerting me to set my recorder or watch:
This Sunday Fox news, is going to air a very important documentary about Barack Obama, Sunday night at 9 P M Eastern. The report will go back to Obama’s earlier days, showing even then his close ties to radical Marxist professors, friends, spiritual advisers, etc. It will also reveal details about his ties to Rev. Wright for 20+ years, i.e., how he was participating with this man, and not for the reasons he stated. The report has uncovered more of Obama’s radical past and we will see things that no one in the media is willing to put out there. It will be a segment to remember. Mark your calendar and pass this on to everyone you know: Sunday night, 8 PM CT; 9 PM ET. Democrat or Republican, this report will open your eyes to how YOUR country is being sold down the road to Totalitarian Socialism. If you care about the direction of our country, pass this notice on to everyone you know.
When the Left is willing to debate issues on the merits and not by manipulation, then I will start listening.
Until then – not so much.
Hopefully, if we get enough tea party support, we’ll render Obama impotent in November. Then in 2012, send him back to the Chicago slums, where he can preach his hatred to his supporters there.
I’m really scared of anyone who would want a piece of sh!t like that.
It does make you wonder if we’ve all fallen into the rabbit hole. Put a witch’s peaked hat on OBambi and look out!
Yeah. So much for “reasoned debate”. Leftists dispise debate because they are immediately exposed in their lies, exaggerations, and sleights of hand. Had the Tea Parties and Conservatives not stuck a broomstick in their spokes, the Marxists would have had “heath care reform” a year ago – with no one having analyzed, studied or debated the topic.
Hey, they still have not analyzed, studied or debated the topic.
* No One read the Bill
* No One knows what’s in it yet
* No One knows what the price tag is
* No One knows how They will pay for it
* The Majority of America did NOT want it
Speaking of breast cancer, fortunately Obamacare hasn’t kicked in yet, to stop researchers in finding that PARP inhibitors block a tumor cell’s ability to repair itself, so the cell dies. Looks very promising. However, expect the government to ration it, or not allow it, in the near future.
Kind of like the stickers I see on cars in my town that say “Yes We Did”. Nothing like advertising your stupidity.
Eat your veggies and get a comfortable chair-you are in for a looooong wait. Membership in the Rip Van Winkle Society opens in February, year to be determined. Or in the vernacular: liberal don’t do that.
A day without insulting liberals is like a day without sunshine.
On April 12th, 2010 at 10:25 am, old trooper said:
Not true…San Fran Nan’s refrigerator knows the way…just open the door and the light will come on…
Yep. Just lost a couple of perfectly good bacon cheeseburgers. Can’t say you didn’t warn me.
As I live in Seattle, I just so happen to be friends with a guy who works for Washington CAN group that has exploited Marcelas Owens. The other night we were out, enjoying a social hour together, and this topic came up.
My friend told me that even he was uncomfortable with this tactic of exploitation of a young child who lost his mother. In fact, my friend was so uncomfortable with it that he went to his boss and expressed his reservations. His boss replied, “Yeah, but it works so we’re going to keep doing it.”
It’s proably expensive so unless you have the Congressional health plan, we’ll have to abandon it in favor leeches, and a dead chicken at midnight.
Between Nan and the Fridge, it’s the only light that is on.
I looked too quickly at Michelle’s title for this column & thought it read
“Be as patient as government prawn”
and if you’ve seen ‘District 9′, it makes it funnier.
So now we have yet-another thing to worry about ObamaCare…once all of the agencies are created, they will become a political force unto themselves.
Amen, brother! And it is one incredibly low wattage bulb at that!
Has anyone found a link about this young cancer patient in Florida who has been denied medical treatment because of her son’s Social Security payments? Rush mentioned it but I can’t find a link on the web.
Talk about “patient as government pawn”…
You mean like a Congressional district was a burr under the saddle they might cut back that districts funds, hospitals and such? Now what kind of people would do that?
Kulaks or prawns, with or without tartar sauce?
Hey, I’ll buy that picture for $50.
Now, where did I put my Monopoly game…it’s around here somewhere…
Good movie! After Obowmaocare takes us over we’ll all be spitting Penzoil!
or doing ‘doggy style with a demon!’
I’d want to use them in lieu of clay pigeons at the next skeet shoot, but at $50 a pop I’ll have to pass.
From the WSJ. People actually think that there wouldn’t be a shortage? Just look at other national healthcare nations. Not only can they get enough new docs trained, but the ones with years of experience are heading out the door.
