Waxman Inquisition cancelled

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 14, 2010 01:20 PM

Victory! Democrat Chief Inquisitor Henry Waxman has retreated from his attempt to intimidate companies who dare speak out about the costs and consequences of Obamacare.

His April 21 witch hunt session has been cancelled, according to left-wingers. (Update: Fox also reporting same.) The event is still listed on the House Energy and Commerce with the press release from last month, but no further information.

Cancellation confirmed by House GOP here.

Perhaps Waxman and Company thought better of it while contemplating the prospect of a nationwide revolt by all businesses who are simply complying with disclosure laws and accounting principles, and telling the truth about the burden of the Dems’ crushing mandates.

Never fear, though. Waxman has moved on to his next jihad: He’s calling for a ban on chewing tobacco in Major League Baseball.

Hey, Torquemada, whaddya say?

I’ve got a few questions myself (for Waxman). Ron Paul actually touched on my concerns in his questioning of Bernanke earlier today. Since Paul didn’t say anything ‘outrageous’ nobody will carry it.

Essentially Ron Paul got around to talking about the IMF and the bailout for Greece. He asked where that money was going to come from as the new bailout will increase US involvement in Greece’s bailout through the IMF to over 100B dollars.

Paul asked, where is that money coming from? He asked if we are going to do the same if California turns into Greece or will we help foreign countries and not US states? Where is the money coming from that Congress continues to spend?

Some is coming from these companies that are losing their write down. Ron Paul is right and dead on about domestic fiscal issues. This country is at far greater threat from overspending in the next 10 years than any foreign military threat. We don’t need a military expert to be president, we need someone to stand up and say ‘STOP SPENDING MONEY THAT WE DON’T HAVE!’.

Ron Paul asked why we are spending 100B to bail out Greece when we are broke. Bernanke said it wasn’t a Federal Reserve decision. But the point remains.

She can afford to be the public face of her party in the House, because her seat is very, very safe. Worst outcome, like I said, into the minority and lose the government sky limo with fine inflight meals and booze.

It should be remembered that the Inquisition was a response to mob persecutions, intended to impose Church law over the lawlessness of the mob, and that a great deal of the horror attributed to the Inquisition was Protestant propaganda.

That said, you do old Torqi a great disservice by comparing him to the poster boy for “Short Man’s Disease”, Henry “Nostrildomis” Waxman.

If a company is required to do these writedowns, then they should have no trouble supporting it. They should already have the docs to support it for the SEC so no extra work is even needed.
