The Crashers: They came, they saw, they failed

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 15, 2010 09:56 PM

You were ready for the Tea Party saboteurs. And boy, did they fail epically. Saul Alinsky would be ashamed.

Grass-roots activists smoked out the infiltrators — and tagged them immediately.

Reader Celeste in Columbus, Ohio, sends photos of a great comeuppance. Check out the Captain Obvious crasher getting called out for attempting to paint their peaceful protest as an incitement to violence and faking a vile sign:

***

More members of the Crasher Corps in Sacramento via reader Rob. The red guerilla mask and sunglasses are really ingenious:

This fine fellow literally crashed the stage and was whisked away:

***
As for that Crash the Party loser Jason Levin, he’s been put on paid leave from his middle-school teaching job in Beaverton, Oregon, and the state education board continues to investigate:

A state board will investigate whether a Beaverton teacher was on his own time or using state resources while he organized liberals to crash Oregon tea parties.

On Thursday, Jason Levin was put on paid leave by the Beaverton School District.

Levin has gotten national attention for a “Crash the Tea Party” Web site that called for opponents to infiltrate the events and behave outlandishly. That raised suspicion he was doing political work during schools hours.

Beaverton School District spokeswoman Maureen Wheeler confirmed Levin was placed on paid administrative leave as of Thursday while they conduct an internal investigation into his actions during work time.

Behold: Self-sabotage.

***

Ed Frank sends video of Tea Party folks confronting an ignorant heckler trying to disrupt the D.C. Tea Party with his fantasy land chant that “no one’s raising taxes right now!” Reality check:

***

Save those “INFILTRATOR” signs. These people aren’t going to give up.

Ummm, ridicule is not about accuracy, it is about making fun of your opponent. Exagerration and sarcasm are crucial. Yes, an element of the truth should exist, yet when the ridicule goes over the top and over the line it is what it is and serves to diminish the opponent, which is the objective of ridicule and not accuracy.

Crashers were abundant at the downtown Chicago rally. People just surrounded them with their own signs and flags and crowded them out. One Tea Partier walked around with an “I’m a Plant” sign and put it above any crashers he encountered. Two female crashers allegedly stated they were part of the Coffee Party. All in all very nonviolent on our part. I’m very impressed by the maturity and restraint of my fellow Tea Party people. Big crowd with a LOT more black people and young people than last year. Word is spreading. We are making history one day at a time. Keep up the fight.

I don’t have any Rioja, Contador or otherwise, to offer right now. But I do have a charming Georges DuBouef Morgon Domaine Mont Chavy. Don’t let anyone tell you Beaujolais can’t make good wine. And don’t judge the entire region by that swill known as Beaujolais Nuveau. I buy exactly one bottle of that every year, and invariably end up regretting it.

What year is best? Also… are we talking with a little chill or room temp?

I’ll be here all night. I’m a little depressed this evening. I had to do some layoffs today. My industry has been hit hard. It hurts me deeply to let good people go. I know their families. I am going to bed, but I do want to address one thing. What we consider “room temperature” is too warm for reds. This is about 72 degrees. At this temp, any bitterness and acidity will be pronounced. Most reds will taste much better at around 63-68. The lighter the red, the cooler on that scale. You don’t need to whip out a thermometer. Just stick it in the fridge for about 15-20 minutes. I actually like to go a bit cooler on that scale and then see how the wine develops as it warms a bit.

Same thing with whites. If they are served right out of the fridge, they will be so cold so as to kill any nuance. So take them out of the fridge about 15 minutes before serving. And I like to keep then out of a chiller for the same reason as I said above. It is interesting to track the flavor as it gradually warms a bit.

Oh, and sorry about your day. That, no doubt, sucks.

If you want to explore Beaujolais, which is a very approachable red wine for people that don’t think they like reds, skip the basic stuff (which tends to be gamey and uninteresting) and spend a couple dollars more on a Beaujolais-Villages, which is blended from the grapes of the 10 or so best villages in the region. And, for a few dollars more, you can get a Cru Villages, which means it is from one specific village. Morgon (which is what I was drinking) is one. Moulin a Vent is another great one.

Naw, you’re taking Chappy wrong, happy – think of the title of documentary on the “global warming” scam; “Not Evil, Just Wrong”. And on non-political topics that don’t involve taking the Left’s party line, his 2 cents can sometimes actually be pretty good.

Oh nooooos! Someone thinks I am a wine snob! Never mind the fact that I rarely, if ever, discuss wines with a price point of over 25 or so dollars (because what is the point? Most people don’t ever spend that much on a bottle outside of a restaurant. And if you think that stupid thing between WarEagle and I over Barbera d’Asti has anything to do with snobbery, I can assure you, it does not. It has everything to do with my genuine animosity toward that empty shell of an individual and his rudeness and dismissiveness of advice he himself solicited.

Anyway, the real wine snob here is WarEagle’s BFF, YTZGal, who said she would never be bothered with a wine that scores ONLY an 87 from Wine Spectator. Never mind that that is a very very good score that probably less than 10% of their reviewed wines achieve.

At least I give solid, approachable advice. Ask her for a wine pairing and she will give some silly, rambling lecture about how you clearly are a pseudo-intellectual because you have some notion that some wines generally actually do taste better with certain foods, and that you can never truly know a good wine pairing until you have made sweet sweet love with the vintner in the actual soil from whence the wine came.

Funny thing. I used to detest wines that even hinted of sweetness. But my tastes have definitely changed in that regard. I can thank German Reislings for that. But unfortunately, I am still woefully uninformed about what is good out there in semi-sweet land.

But I will say this about local wines. I don’t know where you live, misscheryl, but the quality of stuff from outside Cali/Oregon/Washington is actually pretty good, and getting better. About a decade ago, I went on a tour of some Virginia wineries and walked away relatively unimpressed, especially for what seemed to be consistently $18-$25 a bottle. But even in just that short time I have noticed the quality increasing. And just a few weeks ago I tried some wines from a local vineyard in MD and was pretty impressed. Maybe I had low expectations.

I still do think you pay a bit of a premium for local wines, but if the vineyard is careful about what grape they use and what style they make (i.e., don’t try to be California) there certainly is some quality out there in unexpected locations. Last high end restaurant I went to here in MD, actually had a Rhode Island wine on the list (Sakonnet Vineyards, which I have visited. Very pretty, OK wines).

Who knows, when Oklahoma seceedes you probably won’t want to live up north anymore knowing how conservative you are. Oh wait….

Was that the one where I said was that it is pretty hypocritical for posters to condemn someone for apparently finding some wisdom in a person who was also a member of NABLA, when plenty here find a slave owner inspiring.

And then, as I recalled, everyone scrambled to justify Jefferson’s behavior, and thus their contradictory position on his worthiness of admiration, through a moral relativist argument (“It was legal at the time!”).

    Is that the one?

Well, that’s what folks are BSing about here – wine. Happy, I think if you leave your grievances about something that a commenter said in “Thread Z” in Thread Z, you’ll be much “happier”.

I suspect everyone here has had a disagreement with everyone else here at one time or another. But it’s not a healthy thing to pack such things in an emotional suitcase and carry it around forever.

Besides, why would you want to give Chappy (or anyone) your goat to keep on a personal basis? When you do that then they win and you lose.

So what I’m sayin’ is while getting steamed happens to most all of us, letting go is a wise thing to practice.

Case in point, this blog. MM allows folks who vehemently disagree with her to comment with impunity here but yet you can’t truly find the same of the left without finding yourself banned.

I think it’s really pretty simple, Major. Liberals are driven by emotion, whereas conservatives prefer reason and logic. Emotional-based arguments do not tend to fare very well at all against rational, reason based ones.

You’ll find the very rare exception to that rule (i.e. a conservative who argues from emotion or a liberal who can keep his emotions in check long enough for a sentence or two). But such would be the case of the “exception that proves the rule.”.

Making sure the trains arrive on time was a byproduct of his oppression and subjugation. Not a good in and of itself. Therefore, not an appropriate analogy. That would be like pointing out that Hitler eradicated Alzheimer’s Disease among the Jews. Well yeah…but only because he killed them all.

What we are talking about is whether you can compartmentalize two separate aspects of a person, to ignore the evil in favor of an independent good.

While the dinosaur media might not ignore such a story, they would spin it their way regardless of the evidence. They are in control of the cameras that provide the footage they report on. They can make the pictures look exactly like they want them to. There are still millions of useful idiots in this country that believe that what the dinosaur media reports is what actually happened.
