Reason #1,001,000 not to donate to the RNC

From Peter Flaherty at NLPC:
Are Republican National Committee Donors Now Bankrolling Sharpton?
It’s race-hustle-palooza at the RNC.
My reader RNC rejected solicitation form files are going to burst.
Guess this means they’re going to pander even harder: Steele falling behind on pledge to woo more minorities to GOP.
***
Details from the Sharpton/Steele lovefest:
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele embraced the Rev. Al Sharpton as a “strong leader” yesterday while comparing some in his own party to an elephant’s rear end.
Steele so far has weathered a recent controversy over RNC spending, including a $2,000 tab at a bondage-themed club in California, which upset fellow Republicans.
But his speech to a midtown gathering of Sharpton’s National Action Network could set off a new round of GOP head-scratching.
Though Sharpton has long been vilified by Republicans, Steele hailed him as a “friend.”
“We have spent time at various events together and at all times, we have talked about how do we move forward,” Steele said.
Steele, the RNC’s first African-American chairman, said he wanted to correct the party’s past missteps with the black community.
“I work every day in this job, as I like to put it, to turn the elephant,” he said, referring to the party’s iconic symbol.
“Now, I don’t know if you ever had to turn an elephant, but the end you have to start with is not necessarily the best place to start.”
Aides later stressed that Steele was not referring to anyone in particular and was only talking about his efforts to better position his party.
Here’s a picture of the happy couple.

» Barack Obama: Can we call him a Socialist now?

Don’t know if this has been mentioned previously, but another snarky rejection reason would be: “…I refuse to fund your strip club visits!…”
YOU have got to be kidding me!!! The rnc is giving money to sharpton? Not one single penny will the rnc EVER get from our house, period! This steele is going bonkers!
L
Sharpton knows what’s coming in November…he’s looking for new friends.
Exactly what direction are you trying to turn it?
Sure, it’s easy, all you gotta do is turn your face towards the cliff and keep walking. Things will kinda sort themselves out after that.
You mean this position?
Playing kissy-face with an unrepentant liar, racist and enabler to murder isn’t the way to “build bridges” with the “black community.”
Steele has got to go. Do that to “correct the party’s mis-steps” with its base, and maybe the RNC can get itself unstuck from reverse-gear in time to be of some use in November.
Otherwise… for Republicans some “by-pass surgery” is going to be the order of the day.
To the left of course.
Elephant, Donkey, either way someone has to shovel what they leave behind…
Perhaps Mssr. Steele is leading the elephant by the wrong appendage.
Oh, that’s easy — left.
I recently saw an undated You-tube of Sharpton. When asked a question about Obama, Sharpton said, “Whan America voted for Obama, they voted for Socialism”. Nice to know that Steele is his good buddy. Since that’s the case, who would support the Republican party for any reason?
Will the last conservative in the RNC please turn off the lights.
Well, the McCain campaign had democrats and democrat-sympathizers working for it, all Steele is doing is nuancing the GOP situation by his reverse racism and hsi sweetness toward Sharpton.
My only question is: WHEN WILL THE GOP GET SOME BALLS AS WELL AS BRAINS AND FIRE THIS PIG.
If there is a Stupidity 2010 Award then Steele just won it hands down.
You almost have to start to wonder if his actions are deliberate and calculated to hurt the Republican Party.
Republicanlite
*That the GOP has for the past 45 years contributed to the liberal plantation created and espoused by the Democrat Party should be front and center as to past missteps Mr. Steele should go about correcting; That is why the country is at the breaking point; We have abandoned personal responsibility for a welfare state; Tell it like it is Mr. Steele, that Rev. Sharpton is the race pimp face of our now national, deeply rooted, welfare state; If he is your friend, then you are no constitutional conservative!
I liked Steele much better when he was known by libs as a racist Uncle Tom.
RNC: no money for you!
My money is going to candidates like Marco Rubio, what little money I have during this socialist take-over, that is.
Great job Steele. That ignorant statement praising a race hustling criminal just cost teh RNC a TON of money.
Steele has to go. They need a leader with a clue. Not this buffoon.
Give directly to the candidates of your Choice.
DO NOT GIVE A DIME TO THE RNC!!!!!
Here’s a picture of Steele in action.
Old political parties don’t die, they just fade into irrelevance. Goodbye GOP.
Ewwww!
Maybe someone should photochop a picture of an elephant giving birth to a donkey, with Steele as the midwife.
Sounds like its high time to clean out the RNC and RINO congresscritters. Defeat the leftists, rid the government of RINOs and make conservatism stronger and better. It would benefit the country. Libs would disagree but then again they are the true “party of no” when it comes to what is best for the country.
Add Steele to the list of those that must depart the GOP. We, Conservative Republicans, must force the issue rather than simply talk amoungst ourselves.
Will MM never take responsibitily for being a major booster of Michael Steele’s career?
Oh, c’mon, ya gotta love Steele’s self-depreciating humor!
Oh, wait, he wasn’t refering to himself.
Well, it appears Steele is doing his best to make the “past missteps” pale in comparison to the “current missteps.”
Oops. Can I say “pale?”
Nope, just being chairman of the Stoopid Party National Committee disqualifies him from the award as a perpetual shoe in.
By the way, Sharpton was seen standing next to Steele, wearing a “I’m with Stupid” t-shirt with an arrow underneath pointing in Steele’s direction, and at the same time patting Steele on the back while a affixing a post-it note on Steele’s backside with the words “kick me” on it.
Did Steele join Sharpton in the race hustle rap?
I’m a pragmatist. If the Sharpton plan was working, I’d say fine, whatever. But since its oviously not, let’s be done with both of them.
What part of
* D * U * M * P *
Steele
does the RNC not understand?!?
…just bein’ “streetwise”…
Well, I would like to see both GOP leaders, MITCH MCCONNELL and JOHN BOEHNER
come out and denounce Steele publicly.
What a surprise. Let me give you a clue Steele. Even if you were able to recruit that race hustling Sharpton, you would lose 1M conservatives in the process. Maybe even those nose holders who fail to see the party is lost. I wish we could turn it around, but I see little to no hope of that. At least as long as they have the current leadership in place. And frankly, I don’t give a rats b*tt if the race hustlers start yelling “see the gop is a bunch of racists” for firing steele. Who cares. It’s not like the GOP is going to ever seriously challenge the dems in minority membership without promising more handouts anyway. So why waste your time and money. They will come if they want.
DUH, Steele……..you don’t have to prove you’re not racist against blacks.
I was listening to Sean Hannity a few minutes ago and he was once again offering a defense of Michael Steele. And yesterday, he was once again pitching Newt on his TV show.
Here’s the root problem with Hannity. He is a sneaky phony. He is always quick to point out that he is not a Republican but rather a Conservative. This is supposed to establish that he is a Conservative (not conservative) first and Republican second. Sorry Hannity, you are a Republican first and I don’t know what it means to be a Conservative who backs liberal Republicans over conservatives of any stripe.
Second, he is loath to criticized Republicans because of Reagan’s rule of never criticizing a fellow Republican. But Hannity, like me, is not a Republican.
Lame, lame, lame.
And now he seems to be presenting himself as THE LEADER of the Tea Party movement. I am going to puke.
GOP leadership has obviously become an oxymoron.
My once-high opinion of Steele has been sliding downward for a time. It just hit zero and is heading lower. No right-thinking man would have anything to do with trash like Sharpton. Ergo, Steele is not a right-thinking man.
Here’s the typical Hannity shtick-
Conservative principles….my new book….Reagan….my tour….book…Newt…Sharpton…my new book…my tour…Newt’s new book…Reagan…Steele is great…RNC Yeah!!…new book…
“I didn’t want to, but the crowd made me go up on stage to sing ‘Devil Went Down to Georgia’ with Charlie Daniels………..”
Ditto. These idiots will never see a dime of my money. I got a letter from the RNC last week and I filled the page with my black marker (uh does that make me a racist?) and told them when they could expect a check.
Every time I think that the GOP is getting it, they do something stupid. Does anyone in the party have a spine????We need a better choice at the polls than GOP whimps and DNC progressive bullies.
What is it with these guys?
Some kind of “bros before xxxx’s” kinship?
Color me tired of it. No pun intended.
Steele, the RNC’s first African-American chairman, said he wanted to correct the party’s past missteps with the black community.
Negative, Mr. Steele, the blacks need to correct past missteps with the rest of the world, namely us. It’s called: work hard, be responsible and self-reliant, and step off the dependency plantation your socialist owners have convinced you to place yourself upon for mostly their, and some of your, benefit.
I remember sometime last year I had C-Span2 on. I really wasn’t watching it, actually just walking in and out of the room, when I heard someone speaking. This man was addressing an elementary school class of African-American children, and he was telling them, “People like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Maxine Waters are responsible for my being where I am today. But my personal hero will always be Malcom X.”
At this point, I looked back at the screen, wondering, “Who is this lefty moron?”
Then I saw it written on the C-Span2 screen: Michael Steele, RNC Chairman. And I thought, man, what idiots put this guy in charge… oh, wait…
Well…and slightly off topic… it seems Sen. Jim Bunning has just endorsed Rand Paul, son of Ron Paul, to replace Sen. Bunning’s soon-to-be vacated seat….interesting …
I can not bear to listen to Hannity on the radio. If I ever get out of the office before he is off the air I tune in an oldies station.
I agree Hannity is GOP first even as he maintains otherwise on an hourly basis. “The lady doth protest too much…”
I was a supporter of Steele and it had nothing to do with race/education/or appearance. Actually thought he might be nomination material once he got a few speeches under his belt. Well, now I’m insulted and want him out of there. This past year and his utter non-performance for the people that are paying him, and now a slutty street comment? His shock at the porn evening’s bill was nothing but tripe because that’s exactly where he fits and seems most at home. Spends money like he has some. Oh wait, it’s our $$$…
Oh, and Steele really needs to go. I had high hopes for him several years ago but his “leadership” and behavior in general is just strange and getting stranger!
Of course, there may not be anyone in the GOP any more qualified for this position…
GOP=WHIG
It’s time to face facts, folks, the GOP is just as much an obstacle as the Commun… uh Democrats.
The Republican Party under GWB seemed intent on political suicide. Pandering to citizens of other countries illegally in our country while telling us we must be vigilantes if we object to illegal aliens ignoring our borders and laws. Mel Martinez was RNC Chairman to ensure an open borders candidate in ’08. How did that work out? They plan to do it again. The cheap labor express will be kept running, regardless of the consequences, to party or country.
GOP-RIP
Well, I would suppose that your points are why the Tea Party Movement is forming its own ‘Contract with America’ as opposed to trusting GOP leadership or anyone else for that matter.
On April 15th, 2010 at 8:16 pm,
That isn’t good enough anymore either. The Tea Party movement is being usurped by national “Tea Party” groups like the Tea Party Express who are charging money to attend their “national conventions” and then organize Republican-candidate-only events like those featuring Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann.
Yesterday, Red State’s Erick Erickson posted Tea Party Movement 2.0 that suggests that we should focus on remaining local while casting a wary eye on those who seek to corral the local groups under the umbrella of one national leader.
I don’t completely understand Erick’s argument but you can see why that is important. Suddenly, every time you see a Tea Party event, there’s Palin, or Hannity, or Bachmann, or some other Republican. We cannot afford to be corralled into the Republican Party.
A “Contract with America” sounds nice but that is a Hannity device so that he can be seen leading our cause constructively. The problem is that the list will very like become the problem quickly as we argue over the points to be included.
We don’t need a national umbrella, at least not in 2010. We are fighting BOTH parties this year and I don’t see Hannity, Palin or Bachmann making good on their pledge to support CONSERVATIVES regardless of party affiliation. We cannot afford to go into November being used as stooges for the GOP but that is where we are heading.
Locally, I couldn’t find a single Tea Party rally that was not organized by a lame Republican candidate by a Republican Club. So I didn’t bother.
Let’s be careful. We are being slowly usurped by our many enemies.
Let me rephrase one of my last statements:
Locally, I couldn’t find a single Tea Party rally that was not organized by a Republican Club featuring a lame Republican candidate as the main speaker. So I didn’t bother.
The plain truth is the same type of statists run both parties. They agree on the same “big picture”. Amnesty, carbon taxes, more government.
If we want to keep the Republic, the Republican Parry must die.
What the hell is the Party doing, fire this bastard before it’s too late.
Just move Ken Blackwell up a rung and we’re set.
IMHO – when the Tea Party participants organize into a party is the day we’ll lose half, or more, of the group. I know as many Demwits and Independents as I do Repubs that have been with us. They need to know that it isn’t controlled nor sponsored by the Repubs.
In it’s own way, if handled properly, will send shockwaves throughout the Dems and Independents because they’ll remain registered as such and vote conservatively. They may even influence their friends and neighbors to do the same. What a novel idea…
I think any group political or other wise needs attention getting spokes people to promote the message, I have trouble with Hannity, he’s too Grand Old Pals kinda guy, old country club type. He’d give you Romney or Gingrich right now and both would lose. Palin is campaigning with Juan McAmnesty and don’t believe I’ve ever heard her voice her opinion on illegal aliens and their entitlements and take a hard conservative stand…course is it all for the families.
Agreed, notice how their coming out of the wood work now to grab a piece of the Tea Party movement, not party, movement? Dick Armey is tying to tie the two together, like he’s been behind the TP all along.
The Tea Party Movement must remain independent of both parties and NOT allow itself to be absorbed UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
Agreed, Pasadena Phil. Going back to the Conservative-Republican status quo will do us no good;look at Sen. Tom Coburn’s and Michael Steele’s weird behavior this year;that’s what we have to look forward to all the time if the Tea Party doesn’t remain independent
BTW-is there anyone running against Tom Coburn (who is also a conservative)?
Really. Nice.
Gee Newt, since Steele came from your PAC, I WILL REMEMBER THIS!
I was disappointed in Steele’s performance in the past, was a little puzzled by some of his actions, but am downright disgusted with this crap.
I REFUSE TO DONATE TO THE RNC/GINGRICH UNTIL STEELE IS GONE!
It’s obvious Steele and the RNC have either forgotten or never heard of a guy named Pagonis…the one smeared in the Tawana Brawley case who was assisted by Sharpton.
Sharpton’s comment “this ain’t my suit” came from the lawsuit Pagonis filed against Sharpton, and Sharpton was allowed to claim he was penniless to get away with paying him nothing.
This is worse than Newt sucking up to Hillary and Bela Pelosi.
Heckuva job RNC! You had a chance to put someone serious in charge and failed miserably. How do you feel now about letting Steele off the hook?
Hannity is a liar if he claims to be conservative yet backs Steele and Newt. There is no rational defense one can give of Steele’s sucking up to Sharpton, or Newts sucking up to Bela Pelosi and Hillary and claim to be conservative.
Gingrich is a populist, and his timing has been off quite a bit lately. When he sat down with Hillary, when he sat down with Pelosi, when he claimed we needed to do something about Gorebal Warmongering, he was lost.
His buddy Steele has just been a little more overt in how badly off the mark Newt has been.
Hannity defending them shows a considerable amount of what Hannity thinks of conservatives.
…and don’t forget, “and what we have coming up next…” is why I find him too annoying to listen to.
To be fair, the Newt the Amazing couldn’t get enough of the loathsome Sharpton either.
Okay, fairness moment over.
Steele knows the Republicans will never fire him no matter what he does. And if you were in a job you could not be fired from, how well do you think you would perform? The life of the Party, our man Steele, which makes me really wonder how well the Republicans will do in November.
Steele came close to getting whacked when big donors were cranky over the strip club costs. When the big donors hear what he did with Sharpton, will that be round II? It might be.
Too bad it takes many more thousands of voters to get someone elected. Without that, Steele, the RNC and Newt would never listen to anyone other than their big donors.
Hmmmm. We have “Steele remorse” while the Democrats have “Obama remorse”.
Neither is good, but I know which is worse.
Just the opposite.
Why do you guys have so much difficulty comprehending that if we do not even have the political muscle to take the GOP and oust the likes of Steele, we don’t have a chance in Hell of taking the general elections and saving the Republic???
Most Republican voters are solidly with us. All but a few completely clueless Democrat voters who don’t understand what the Democrat politicians really are are dead set against us.
This is not complicated at all.
Nominate and elect conservatives. Remake the RNC and eject Steele.
Steele should be an object lesson to conservatives who thought he would be okay as Chair. Guys from extreme leftwing states should never be in leadership positions in the Party.
Now Steele has to be fired, and being the kind of guy he is, he’s going to go out screaming, “RAAAAACISTS!!!”
Roland,
Why do you not get that the country club types who run the GOP have no intention of letting conservatives have control of their party?
They agree with the Democrats more than with conservatives. They were willing to lose the last election to a Marxist by running McAmnesty. The next nominee will be an amnesty guy, too, count on it. We have been played for years and until we realize it and form a party that WILL represent conservatives, we will continue to get played.
GOP-RIP
They run the GOP because we elect Republicans who let them run the Party.
Steele isn’t Chair against the wishes of the majority of the Republicans in Congress.
If you cannot even wrest the GOP away from the country club type Republicans when the GOP already has tens of millions of conservative voters registered with it and thousands of conservative officeholders across the land, how on Earth are you going to take the whole country??
With the “conservative Democrat” ??????
Do you still believe in that unicorn?
Tens of millions of conservatives (like me) have given up on the GOP and no longer consider ourselves Republicans.
You are right, Steele is Chairman with the blessing of the majority of congressional Republicans. They are idiots pandering to a mythical middle.
Proves my point.
Run a conservative and win big, run a McCain and lose…..
Just the opposite. If all we need to do is nominate and elect conservative Republicans in order to oust the current the RNC, then there is no need to go third party, an impossible path of total desperation that really only has the practical effect of dividing those with conservative views and electing America bashers and demagogues throwing cake to the fools.
However, I realize I’m wasting my breath. You determined third partiers aren’t interested in rational arguments. You know you’ll never have a seat at the Republican table no matter how conservative it becomes, so you’d rather have a seat at a tiny third party table where you can feel like a big shot.
You’re more like Anarchists than Conservatives.
Keep voting for McCain, Graham, etc and calling them conservative, and then wonder why they keep stabbing you in the back.
Look at who the party apparatus has pushed this year, Scozzafava, Crist, Grayson, McCain. They DO NOT WANT YOU TO HAVE THE CHOICE OF A CONSERVATIVE!
I’ve felt the same for a few years now, stopped watching at the same time. This is what gets me, I believe Mark Levin is as solid conservative as you’ll find, yet him and Hannity are best of bud’s, something smells there. ..anyone else smell it?
