Update on Arizona rancher Robert Krentz murder case

A “person of interest” possibly linked to the murder of longtime Arizona rancher Robert Krentz has been identified by Douglas-area police.
The Arizona Daily Star reports:
The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a person of interest in several burglaries this year in the Portal area in southeastern Arizona.
It is looking for Alejandro Chavez-Vasquez, who has given authorities various birth dates and lives in Agua Prieta, Mexico. Officials say he has a criminal history with convictions that include sex crimes, auto theft and being in and returning the the U.S. after being deported, according to a news release.
The news release doesn’t identify Chavez-Vasquez as a person of interest in the killing of longtime rancher Robert Krentz on March 27, but a news release of this type is unusual for the department, and the Portal area is just north of where Krentz was found dead on his ranch.
Chavez-Vasquez is currently only a person of interest in the burglaries.
But Cochise County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Carol Capas said she didn’t dismiss the possibility that Chavez-Vasquez could provide useful information in the Krentz investigation. “It would depend on what he would be able to tell us about other burglaries or other open cases we have,” Capas said.
Just a reminder that Smart Girl Politics’ Arizona chapter is holding a border clean-up event in Krentz’s honor on April 24 in Bisbee. Be sure to click the link for details.

» Barack Obama: Can we call him a Socialist now?

Sex crimes? Is that what we used to call rape, or is it something else? Do we not call anything what it is anymore?
He’s just a poor undocumented sex criminal. Cheez.
“Person of interest” is the politically correct term for “suspect”.
He is a suspect because I am not interested in him at all as anything but a suspect!!
I thought we had a “3 strikes and you’re out” policy? Maybe that just applies to “documented” workers such as US Citizens.
It seems invaders get a free pass.
Maybe we should start invading Mexico and taking over communities by mass groups and demanding that they print everything in English, provide free housing, provide free health services and free food while at the same time taking the jobs away from the Mexican citizens who will be forced to pay for all of this “free” stuff. /sarc
This guy is should be our poster boy of the “seal the border” movement.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Juan McCain the one that was mad that the people wanted the border sealed BEFORE any legislation was done to deal with the 20 million illegals already here? Seems to me the Congressional switchboard was overloaded when the Senate was going to vote on the Grahamnesty bill, and Juan said something about sealing the G.D. border.
I’ll have to do a search I guess.
And a fine Irish lad he be! What Dad wouldn’t want to introduce this upstanding boy to his daughter?
Not a bad idea JamieD. Maybe we could send some of our illegals down there. Oh wait, I guess that won’t work. Oh I know, how about unemployed auto workers?
The Dems have empathy for this cretin because he only comes to the US to find work, don’t ya know?!
Watched Fox Special Report last night. All 3 “conservative” pundits do not get how bad the border issue is here in Arizona. Nina needs to go to the border and spend some time trying not to get kidnapped and raped before she mouths off again about Arizona’s plan to deal with the problem.
Only person who seemed to have a clue was Bret Baier.
He looks like a fine training aid for a scout sniper team.
Sending unemployed auto workers would have the result of redistributing the wealth to Mexico; a trend we are trying to reverse, not encourage.
Our border counties are under siege from such persons of interest who even with convictions return after deportation to rob, steal and burglarize almost at will. The people in the out county areas can NEVER leave their homes and ranches unattended even for a day-they know they will be burglarized. The Robert Krentz murder is just one of many-why it caught attention I do not know but am glad it did.
During the Amnesty uproar John McCain sluffed off the Border War as a non issue–no Important People were being hurt and his sister in amnesty, Lindsay Graham, wanted lower greens fees I guess. The Cheap Labor Whores and Open Border Traitors are up in arms over Arizona’s Immigration Legislation-if the Governor signs I do not know- but they tell us the crime is a non-issue.
John McCain has until August 24 to be a conservative and tough on the border issue-we’ll see how it goes. Senator: Éste no es México.
Let’s add (or substitute) nonessential federal, state, and local government workers, especially those who belong to unions.
Don’t forget to demand Mexican citizenship for yourself and your children. Oh, and stage huge rallies where you fly the Mexican flag upside down to disrespect the country you have invaded. That works well.
… And sue the Mexican government and employers because they insist on speaking their native language and refuse to speak mine.
I assume the ranchers on the border have armed themselves. They need to keep their guns on them at all times. And shoot to kill. Seems to be the only way to fight this, since the government has no interest in doing so.
Time to take military out of S.Korea, Japan, germany and put them the border with M-16′s
Is he from the Galwey or Cork county branch of the Chavez-Vasquez family?
I saw that too. I was stunned. Nina must have an illegal cleaning her house. I usually like her, but not on this issue. Even Dr. K said that he and “most Americans” (I think I heard him correctly) want a general amnesty. Says who? I don’t know the right answer, but across-the-board general amnesty is not it. Round ‘em up, any criminal activity–deport. Then, maybe, look at the continuous length of time in country. Over 10 years, okay, put them on a path to citizenship–including the language skill. Under 10 years, fill out an application, we’ll get back to you.
This is just scratching the surface. Of course, secure the border and end the automatic citizenship nonsense.
I seem to remember Bush calling the MinuteMen “vigilantes” when they were only passive observers. But what we really need is for our Government to protect us instead of attacking those who are (Remember Ramos & Compos?).
“Nina must have an illegal cleaning her house.”
Her husband worked for and may still work for John McCain.
Absolutely.
We have a dire need to lock down the border and to stop “anchor baby” and “wet foot dry foot” nonsense.
Buck…
You should read the reaction and comments on Fox about it.
http://specialreport.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/04/21/behind-the-scenes-with-bret-42110/
If you fly the Swiss flag upside down, the Swiss do not get upset.
I also heard Krauthammer say “most everyone wants amnesty”. I yelled at the TV. What the…??? He is usually right on, but that really pissed me off. I yell at the TV a lot these days. So many so-called “conservatives” are disappointing me. Are there any TRUE conservative commentators left?? Seems like every one of them ends up saying something stupid.
I also heard Krauthammer say “most everyone wants amnesty”.
This is where those in Washington and those that consider themselves insiders display the same elitism that we see from the left and Obama.
Define “most everyone”…
That is not you and I in fly over country. That is the folks in the beltway, other elitist be they left or right.
This is the kind of thinking and a clear display of that thinking that got Republicans in trouble in recent elections. A clearly an out of touch comment with the majority of Americans on all three panelist parts.
It is elitist and condescending. “Draconian”? So we Arizona’s want draconian laws? I guess we’re dragging our knuckles in the dirt and keeping our women folk bare foot and pregnant too!
Quite an amazing segment of discussion for being “fair and balanced”.
Count me in with the flyover group…..obviously.
So do I. I do not want you prosecuted if you will go back to your countries of origin and get in line for official authorization to emigrate.
Is that what he meant?
What amnesty will mean to the USA.
http://oneoldvet.com/?p=18658
Great site for REAL info on the border .
“Amnesty awaits you in Mexico”
That sounds like a great motto!
Wait, that is Sven Svensen, SSN 123-45-6789, and he sits in the office just down the hall from me! He told me he was Swedish but from the southern part of the country. There must be a mistake…
Which one, they got two of them? I understand which National Language to use might be an issue also.
The man is nothing if not inconsistent. Now he is a border control zealot!
Amazing how the prospect of losing an election effects your “convictions”.
Give the guy a break. He was probably molested as a child by one of Cardinal Roger Phony Baloney Don Corleone Mahoney’s priests.
I’m ashamed to be a Catholic these days.
Some estimated numbers:
450,000 illegals in Arizona.
17% of illegals in Arizona have commited crimes in the U.S.
That means there are roughly 75,000 illegal criminals in Arizona.
Multiply that by the average number of crimes each illegal criminal commits each year and….well…..the United States government just doesn’t care.
I also presume the check is in the mail and I’ll still be respected in the morning as well, correct?
SouthPaw,
If there are 450,000 illegals in Arizona then there are 450,000 illegal criminals in Arizona…
I predict McCain will become a lot more “mavericky” should he win the AZ primary. His bout of “Sudden Conservative Syndrome” certainly won’t last much past election day…
Thank you; that was interesting. I’ve never bothered to go to that blog before.
OT: Fred Barnes is a decent enough guy, but geez it takes him forever to spit stuff out. It occurred to me last night that his speech mannterisms (even the sound of his voice) remind me of the voice of the guy they had play George Steinbrenner on Seinfeld. Listen to Fred the next time he’s on.
I think he is also a suspect in the beatings of the Republican couple in New Orleans. Well, he just might as well be for all the news coming out of the NO investigation. Take back America from the socialists.
I don’t think so. I do believe most of the amnesty people want then to just get amnesty here, stay here, and pay some kind of fine and learn English, etc. I don’t think they want all the illegals to return to their countries and then get in line. That would be the proper way to do it, but it isn’t going to happen, especially with the progressives in power. Also, it would be unrealistic to expect anyone who has been here a while, has a job and has settled in, to voluntarily return to their country. They would just stay under the radar and not accept the amnesy, thus remaining illegal. Am I wrong on my assumptions?
Since the focus of Congress is now turning towards a “comprehensive immigration bill”, I got a great idea the tax-happy folks in D.C. should love. All money sent to Mexico via Western Union or other such services will have a 4-5% tax levied. The proceeds should go to all the border states’ hospitals to pay for all the “emergency” services that illegals use.
In their rarefied world “Most Americans” do not include most Americans.
I wish Dr. K would return to Canada.
No legal expert here, but I heard that Oklahoma was trying to impose a 1% tax on ANY funds sent Western Union/wired to ANY country, and the Mexicans are up in arms against it, saying, wait for it …., wait……. Discrimination!
Surprise!
Excellente! The border states need to raise their own armies, target any natural resource-rich areas and then start annexing them bit by bit. Viva La Republica de Texas! Viva La Republica de Arizona!
You’ve got them all right. Krauthammer is not completely wrong.
Americans are compassionate. If we could let the people who have come here illegally but have proven themselves to be good members of the society stay without our leaving the door wide open to further invasion, or by cheating those who have been following our rules regarding immigration, then we would do that. In a heartbeat.
What Krauthammer and most of the other conservatives inside the beltway do not understand is there is absolutely no reason for us to trust the government on this issue.
This is what happens when just about everyone in government betrays the public trust. There is no possibly compassionate solution left.
Anyone with a double digit IQ can figure out we are getting played by the Democrats who want more votes and businesspeople who want cheap labor.
No amnesty that comes out of Washington will be acceptable because it will be Washington that will have to enforce whatever rules they’ve made to get us to go along with a functionally open border.
Once they’ve got the amnesty, we know they won’t enforce the rules.
And apparently to also vote democrat.
Here’s the story you referred to (for the benefit of other onlookers here):
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=10356705
In recent history, remittances (by illegal aliens and immigrants) sent ‘home’ totaled about $40-$50 billion annually. Not all those funds were earned through legal means of course too. Since much of this money is effectively ‘mined’ illegally from our economy, why not place a tax on the outflow?
What, there’s nobody in Mexico for him to rob or molest?
My husband and I were on a road trip two years ago and travelled down through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, etc. While in Albuquerque, my husband got very ill and I took him to a hospital emergency dept. We sat and waited for over four hours while dozens of Mexican families were called in. The waiting room was full of coughing kids, large families, and pregnant Mexican women. I finally went up to the desk and told the woman that my husband’s pain just went from a 5 to a 9 and they’d better see him NOW. I also told her we had insurance. That finally got him in. We ended up in another emergency ward in Arizona and had basically the same experience. I saw first-hand what the immigrants, illegal or not, are doing to this country. We not only need to seal the border, but we need to limit the amount of immigration for ALL countries until we can get a better handle on our ecomony and take care of the citizens who already live here! The only immigration we should be allowing right now are people who have jobs waiting, skills that we need, and the ability to take care of themselves!
By the way, we ended up flying my husband home first class and flying my daughter down to Arizona to help me drive home! My husband had three surgeries and three weeks in the hospital. So ours was a TRUE emergency, not the sniffles!
Happy I am running for congress in the 2nd district NJ and one of the bills I plan to sponsor is to stop ALL immigration into this country for 5 yrs until we can see whose here and deport the ones that don’t belong.
That should piss the liberals off LOL!
Roger that. He might follow Bin Laden to the gates of hell – but no further.
I will agree he looks pretty interesting…
The last time I sent money to relatives in Colorado, I noticed the fee is higher to send money there than it is to Mexico.
Insulting.
Meanwhile, over in California, this is what the Vagos gang (affiliated with the Mexican Mafia is up to:
“On March 17, 2010, amid allegations that Vagos members have been attempting to use home-made booby traps to maim and kill police detectives in Hemet, California police arrested at least 31 Vagos members in a multistate raid which took place in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and California and involved some 400 police officers from 60 law enforcement agencies. As many as 73 locations were hit in Southern California, where police seized weapons and drugs and discovered a methamphetamine lab. On December 31, 2009 the unmarked headquarters of the Hemet Gang Task Force was filled up by natural gas which had been rerouted into the building through a hole drilled in the roof. Two task force members entering the office smelled gas and backed away before flipping the light switch and possibly causing the building to explode. The day before that attack, a Vagos funeral was held at a church next to the office. On February 23, 2010 a task force member at the Hemet headquarters opened a security gate outside the building, which launched a homemade zip gun attached to the gate. The weapon fired but missed the officer’s head by inches. On March 5, 2010 a task force member who had parked an unmarked police car in front of a convenience store in Hemet found a homemade pipe bomb hidden underneath the vehicle. A $200,000 reward has been announced by California and federal authorities for information on these cases. California Attorney General Jerry Brown called the attempts “urban terrorism.” Riverside County District Attorney Rod Pacheco said that Vagos members posed an “extreme threat” to law enforcement officers and were notorious for trying to “infiltrate” public safety agencies, either by getting sworn or non-sworn positions, working undercover to obstruct and dismantle police investigations.”
They are also suspected of burning down the building at the police firing range.
They are allies with the Sureños:

But, you know, never mind all of that, it is so important that Congress pass Cap and Trade, right now.
Good luck to you in your campaign! I’d send you a donation if I knew who you were! Are you Linda or Donna?
I am Linda we haven’t figured out why Donna is running other than to fracture the vote. I have been the one most visual to the the press.
Here is my website http://www.biamonteforcongress.com
Thank you for your help!
Fox is on board the cheap labor express. Like the rest of the media they are propaganda agents trying to convince Americans to abandon the rule of law and surrender our country with another amnesty.
Illegal aliens are not immigrants. Immigrants seek our permission first by applying for a visa. They keep their documents in order and comply with our laws. Illegal aliens do not. They sneak across the border and acquire fraudulent I.D. They break many laws to continue their illegal presence in the U.S.
The open borders crowd know that most Americans are predisposed to favor legal immigration. By purposely confusing illegal aliens with (legal) immigrants (really the only kind), the left and the media hope to marginalize those of us who are speaking out against amnesty as being xenophobic, nativist, racist, restrictionist, anti-immigrant bigots. I am not any of those. I am an American citizen whose citizenship means something to him. I like immigrants. I know people from all over the world. I am totally opposed to amnesty for illegal aliens, regardless of where they are from. I am for retaining our rule of law and sovereignty. The debate must center on the willful disregard for the laws of this country. Americans have been a welcoming people. We just want people to respect us, our country, our history, our culture, our language and our laws.
I am for consistantly enforcing these as well.
in the white house new order he has more rights than you and me so be nice you think i’m joking ask a NAVY SEAL
You’re welcome! And I will be watching your race. Good luck!
I like your website except for one thing. The print is really small!! I wear trifocals and have trouble with small print. I can read it. But it is like trying to read the phone book. That is just me. I’m sure most people can read it just fine. Anyway, you go girl!
xler8bmw, I just tried to donate to your campaign, but the site asked so many “personal” questions, I didn’t want to answer them. And, it says those blanks MUST be filled in. I don’t want to put down my home address, my phone number, my e-mail address, etc. Why does it ask for that? My name, fine. But the rest of it seems unnecessary.
I was about to puke reading HuffPo’s take on all of this. There were people posting about the Arizona law, one asking when white Christians wearing crucifixes were going to be questioned…. How about when they start killing ranchers on the border, moron. Another highly intelligent woman asks, what would the price for fruits and vegetables be without this labor force? How about what would the price of health care, the cost to support the welfare system through taxes, the damage it has done to wages in this country be without this labor force? Are liberals for real?
The idea is out there, pay Mexico to house their own citizens in prison when they are found guilty here. I am sure they would accept 1/3 the cost of what we would have to pay and we promise to end the program if a single one of those imprisoned are found in the U.S. without having served their full sentences. Mexicans would rather die than spend time in Mexican prisons, but don’t give a hoot about spending time in prison here. Think maybe that is why they cross the border to commit crimes? Hmmm.
There you go again, bringing racism into it! What? Oops my bad.
“Another highly intelligent woman asks, what would the price for fruits and vegetables be without this labor force?”
Let’s consider that mindset for a moment.
So she is in favor of keeping a system in place that allows farmers to pay dirt cheap salaries and near inhumane conditions so SHE doesn’t have to pay more for tomatoes?
Oh really?
A perfect example of why the left is the racist oppressive party in this country.
Because I am under FEC and IRS regulation and we have to have those questions. All candidates who file with the FEC must have these on their donation page. If you don’t plan to make over 10,000 you don’t have to file with FEC for an election. You can send a check if you would like to:

americans are richer and healthier i.e. better game for the hunter.
I called Senator Browns office and the aid said his position against amnesty has NOT changed. Also that reports he agreed to meet with illegal alien students wanting the dream act is NOT true.
He better stick to it or his name will be mud!
You got it!
good point js. I’m sure slave owners asked, what would the price of cotton be without this labor force? The democrats sure have cornered the market on making racism sound compassionate.
Sign up for the email alerts and you will get the press releases everytime frank LoBiondo says something stupid!
Oh, goodie. I love those! Is he kinda like a Joey Biden type?
THANK YOU We have a good chance of taking this RINO out!
*PRESS RELEASE*
Ultra Liberal Group Ranks LoBiondo High in Their Rankings
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey –
THIS LAST YEAR Frank LoBiondo as voted for: Cash for Clunkers, Cap and Trade, asked for 122 MILLION in special projects (some of which didn’t even go to the district!!), encouraged Obama to NOT give up on health care reform, AND his refusing to allow over 2 TRILLION dollars to be added to the economy through drilling and oil exploration…but that isn’t all!
In spring of 2009, The Americans for Democratic Action rated LoBiondo as supporting their positions 60% of the time! This normally wouldn’t be a bad thing except that the ADA is a self-described ultra Progressive/Liberal organization! The most amazing thing about all of this is…all of his votes listed above…happened AFTER the RATING!!
Linda Biamonte said:
This isn’t moderation…this is progressive thinking that leads to progressive votes!
We have heard everything from my opponent and his allies as they have tried to malign our efforts, THE NUMBER ONE THING THEY SAY is that we only disagree with 10% of what my opponent has done. When such Congressmen like Mike Pence (5%), Majority Leader Boehner (0%), and Paul Ryan (15%) are rated so LOW by the ADA, I have to say that it looks like my opponent only agrees with his district’s values 40% of the time!
I feel that it is time that we find a fresh voice in DC who represents our values against Cap and Trade, Card Check, for Energy, and someone who has made a commitment to repeal Obamacare and to reform ear-marks.
Linda Biamonte works in the Advertising Technology field as a Vice President of Sales.
Linda is running for the Republican nomination in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District as the conservative alternative to a 15 year incumbent who has proven through his record and deeds out of touch with the citizens of New Jersey.
Not that bad but, MM had the video where he didn’t know the constitution when asked by a voter.
Nice idea…displace the mexican auto workers…surely the cars would be better made.
“good point js. I’m sure slave owners asked, what would the price of cotton be without this labor force?”
What end slavery? How much will my designer ball gown cost me?!
Looks like the blog for Special Report’s show from last night has gotten sanitized and they aren’t posting any more new negative comments about the panel’s comments.
Now that is very difficult to understand.
Once they get amnesty the country
is FINSHED!
How many more decent Americans have to die at the hands of these criminal illegals before we stand up and stop this madness? Liberal immigration policies aren’t just stupid, they’re lethal.
There’s no doubt about it. It was the price of cotton, and that is precisely the argument the slaveowners made.
The Democrats still make the same argument today with regard to slavery. It is the basis for reparations. They claim labor was cheap because of slavery, and that was what Early American success was built on, so “white America” owes black people everything. America even owes the black people who are recent immigrants or only 1/7th black like our President.
It was a racist crock then, and it’s a racist crock now. Average working Americans and small entrepreneurs (the ones who pay taxes) always get net screwed by cheap imported slave labor.
Don’t worry–most silk comes from China.
Poor little boiled worms.
Heard him say as much during the last amnesty try headed by those RINO’s Juan McShame and Leslie Gramnesty. He said he’d do the same in order to feed his family, That was about the time I stopped watching that phoney OH! Really!
What the hell does time in the country have to do with it? You want to reward the ones that have been able to break the laws the longest with a fast track to citizenship. Looks like you found that “conservative compassion”, by all means don’t make anyone responsible for the their actions.
Why don’t these illegals that demonstrate all over the country for their so called rights here, go home and demonstrate or even revolt. Is that not how we got where we are(were).
Enforce the laws they’ll self-deport…that means do away with entitlements also.
southpaw, local news aka los angeles times is saying attacks on hemet police are from fat white guys with tatoos. local news tv has no mention of either, just pictures of hemet and no people in the pictures. there was an article where a hemet cop was asked about “background” of those arrested, the cop declined to answer. some say both are fighting each other. of course it’s confusing without a reliable source.
xler8bmw, best of luck in your race to congress, I’ve read numerous of your posts here and remember on a few occasions sending a posting to you in the affirm. I like the way you politically think.
Your idea of 5 year moratorium is a great idea…something I’ve seen that closely resembles things I’ve read on Numbers USA. We need to stop all immigration for a period of time, when we do open up immigration it cannot exceed what has traditionally been known as traditional numbers, 250,000 a year maximum.
Once again, best of luck in the election.
Thxs Right is Right!!!!!
I’ve seen a few individuals that look just like this guy at the corner of Ft. Worth drive, and Elm.
What do you expect from the LA Times, they are pro illegal alien 27/7. I read the articles they have been writing and they are trying to say it is the White supremacists that are behind it. Never mind that are over 20,000 members in hispanic gangs in LA.
Most of the attacks have been on the Hemet Gang Taskforce.
