Arizona: Doing the job the feds won’t do

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 23, 2010 05:06 PM

Open-borders lobby in a frenzy

It’s official: GOP Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed the nation’s toughest immigration enforcement bill. They’re doing the job the feds won’t do — taking the law and our borders seriously to protect the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens first.

Cue the ACLU lawyers, the open-borders lobby, and the race-card players. And watch the Left show you what intolerance is really all about.

For his part, Cardinal Roger Mahony is at it again — likening pro-enforcement advocates to Nazis.

My previous blogging on Mahoney’s open-borders zealotry is here.

And no surprise: Obama’s DOJ is ready to pounce.

We don’t need election season converts like John McCain leading the opposition to the Democrats’ shamnesty response. We need trustworthy conservative stalwarts who can withstand the relentless smear campaign against supporters of strict, consistent, effective immigration and entrance enforcement.

It must be a very interesting time to be an appellate lawyer for the federal courts. Between this and socialized medicine, such attorneys will surely get to know the Supreme Court Justices on a first-name basis.

I’ve read the statute. There isn’t a conflict of law here. AZ is not contemplating deporting these people in lieu of having the Feds do it. They are going to incarcerate illegals and fine them. That is within their right.

Plus, the statute expressly incorporates the federal statutes that OBAMA is ignoring.

From Karen Winfield, Assistant to Senator Karen S. Johnson, on the riot at the Capitol-sorry but I do not know how to post photos.

Hi — The street in front of the capitol has been lined with double rows
of media vans since 7 a.m. There are snipers on the roof of both the
House and Senate. A police helicopter is hovering above the grounds.
The House and Senate have been locked down since this morning.

As you probably have heard on the radio or TV, the governor signed the
immigration bill (SB1070) shortly after 1:30 this afternoon. There have
been approximately 1,000 to 1,500 protestors here most of the day, and a
small group of hearty patriots as a counter protest. It was pretty
peaceful until after the governor signed the bill. Shortly after the
signing, a riot broke out. Masses of people started runing and throwing
water bottles at the police. They stopped right underneath Senator
Allen’s window, so we had a front-row seat. I’m not sure what started
it, but it seems to have settled down now. The riot police are still
lined up outside, but the crowd has stopped throwing water bottles and I
believe they have arrested a few protestors.

We are hearing “talk” that the riot was started by a tea party member.
I don’t believe that. The media is eager to characterize the Tea Party
people as violent racists. That is just too convenient. There are
other types of political groups who specialize in posing as members of a
group with the sole purpose of provoking trouble. I’m betting on that
scenario — a provocateur posing as a tea party member. The photo of
the fellow with the “Local to Global Justice” might give some hints.
He’s one of the few adults at this event. 99 percent are high school
students who walked out of their classes today.

I’m attaching some more photos from today’s events. You should see a
lot of coverage on the news tonight. Fox News (national) is reporting
    right now, in fact.

There WILL be a organized effort from illegal (criminal) supporters to test the law in order to get lawsuit(s) going. To be honest I see this as an effort to force the fed. govt. into doing something about the problem, or rather force them to reveal their plan to do nothing beyond pushing comprehensive reform. I applaud its signing because I feel that anything that forces the governments to reveal their plans is a good thing. The fight was coming sooner or later and I for one would prefer it be now.

Let’s enforce the immigration laws that are already on the books, like the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

All employees, citizens and noncitizens, hired after November 6, 1986 and working in the United States must complete a Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.

This is not a “birther” issue, it is a law enforcement issue.

Everyone who has started a new job after November 6, 1986 has been legally required to present hardcopy documentation.

You could not meet this legal requirement by saying, “Here is a URL link to a web page with images of my Certification of Live Birth.”

So, regardless of where you think Obama was born, why does anyone who respects the Rule of Law think that Obama should be allowed to present to his employers (We the People) a web URL instead of a hardcopy Birth Certificate?

If a URL is not good enough to meet the legal requirements to work a minimum wage job, why does anyone accept it for the job of President and Commander in Chief?

My dtr’s boyfriend is first generation American citizen from Mexican legal immigrants. Great kid. Great family. They are 100% behind this bill. The legal immigrants in AZ are not a monolithic group who support open borders. That coming out is also going to be a good thing.

I can just see it now; the police forced to participate in the farce that caucasion or Japanese people have crossed the Mexican border into the US. This is moronic, and useless. Is there a politician in Arizona with the GUTS to state that of course we have to profile Mexican people, since Mexican people are the only ones trying to get into the US from Mexico??? We need to get someone, somewhere to file a lawsuit demanding that the federal government enforce the immigration laws on the books.

Certainly this is something the ACLJ or Landmark Foundation or one of the states could look into. It would be helpful if Gov. Perry in Texas and Gov. McDonnell in VA could get the same law introduced there. That would keep the discussion going through the summer and really get people motivated. Maybe we should contact NumbersUSA and get them to launch a campaign in certain states to get people to demand these laws be enacted.

Write your governors and state legislators and demand they enact similar laws in our states! Write NumbersUSA to suggest this. Open those checkbooks. I just paid over $2000 more in taxes but this would be worth a few bucks to get rolling!

It might have to go all the way to SCOTUS and that might take years so we had better be praying for the health of the conservatives on the bench.

They are globalists, not Americans. They are allied with the wealthy globalists and the Islamic globalists to bring down the last real nation states in the developed world (America, Australia and Japan, although they don’t bother to focus on Japan because the culture is more resistant to their evil, and Japan is dying, anyway).

That is why they see us as “Nazi.” We still believe in the importance of national sovereignty in stabilizing cultures so they aren’t constantly at eachother’s throats.

Without nations, there can be no democracy, only tyranny or chaos, but the leftists are okay with that, just as long as they get rid of the nations.

To the leftist the evil thing about the National Socialist Worker’s Party is the “National” part, not the “Socialist” part.
