Sarah Palin E-Mail Hacker Convicted on Two Charges

By Doug Powers  •  April 30, 2010 03:31 PM

Today’s news is mostly being dominated by Arizona immigration law and the oil slick (don’t worry, the Department of Justice has dispatched a team of attorneys to the Gulf… whew!), but there is some other news just in

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The 22-year-old son of a Democratic Tennessee lawmaker has been convicted on two charges in the hacking of Sarah Palin’s e-mail account while she campaigned on the Republican presidential ticket in 2008.

The federal court jury reached its verdict Friday against David Kernell after four days of deliberation. He was found guilty of obstruction of justice and unauthorized access to a computer, but was acquitted on a charge of wire fraud.

The jury was deadlocked on a charge of identify theft. Prosecutors reserve the right to have a new trial on that charge. The charge of obstructing an investigation has a maximum 20-year prison sentence.

And the outrage should come from all sides. Some young college kid thinks he can out-smart real geeks and break someone’s privacy? “I don’t think so, Tim.”

Lock him up and never let him near a computerized device ever again.

Yeah right. My guess – he gets probation and maybe some community service – working for his dad.

10 – 20 your honor. He’ll be out in 6 with good behavior.

Yea right, probation. Can’t destroy the kid’s life. Even if he did attack a Governor/VPOTUS candidate it was a conservative candidate, so it’s not that big a deal. /sarc

He was able to bring down the republicans in the last election and helped Obama get elected. He is a hero. Because of him, we have free health care for everyone, and soon will clear up our air and water, and allow hard working illegal immigrants to be legal.

We will be able to cut the excessive pay of male CEOS and transfer that money to female CEOS so they can contribute more to the Democrat party.

Your political jihad has done wonders for this country. More than even the beer summit did.

We are on our way to a country where all wealth is distributed evenly so everything is finally fair. All those rich people will get their comeuppance. Its about time. I hate that they get all that stuff and I don’t.

Sarah is so dumb anyway. A community organizer knows more about stuff than she does. Community organizers always know more than elected Governors. Everybody knows that.

Don’t worry kid, we have been able to put judges in high places over the years that support the Democrat party. We will work it so you won’t have to pay a price. Even if you get some jail time, how does Ambassador to France sound? Do you like Paris? No not Hilton.

/sarc choking me. can’t breathe now.

This is what the lady had to say:

    The Hacker Case Verdict
    Fri at 12:27pm

My family and I are thankful that the jury thoroughly and carefully weighed the evidence and issued a just verdict. Besides the obvious invasion of privacy and security concerns surrounding this issue, many of us are concerned about the integrity of our country’s political elections. America’s elections depend upon fair competition. Violating the law, or simply invading someone’s privacy for political gain, has long been repugnant to Americans’ sense of fair play. As Watergate taught us, we rightfully reject illegally breaking into candidates’ private communications for political intrigue in an attempt to derail an election.

I want to thank the public servants who worked so hard on this case, particularly the jurors who gave up precious time from their jobs and families to listen to the evidence and reach a decision.

My family and I appreciate the good people of Knoxville, Tennessee, who showed us true Southern hospitality. We can’t wait to visit again – but without having a subpoena in hand.

    Classy and thoughtful.

    So unlike her adversaries.
