Two Can Play the Immigration Bracelet Game
**Written by guest-blogger Doug Powers
At the end of last month, California Rep. Joe Baca was urging his House colleagues to “wear bracelets proclaiming their opposition to Arizona’s strict new immigration law.”
The bracelet he came up with looks like this:

Most confused at first was Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, because the anti-Arizona bracelet clashed with his SEIU bracelet — but he figured that God didn’t give him two hands just for jerkin’ around the press.
Baca’s district is just east of Los Angeles, so if Arizona gets angry enough, I hope his bracelet glows in the dark, because it could be “lights out” soon.
The bracelets have caught on among those politicians who believe that Treason Chic is in this season.
I’ve seen what appear to be some color variations of the bracelet (just because you’re anti-America doesn’t mean you should have to clash with your outfit), but here’s Nancy Pelosi wearing one, with Biden’s in front of him, while adoring their new hero, Arizona-basher, and ergo America-basher, Felipe Calderon:

Video here:
Steny Hoyer certainly is proud of his bracelet.
Nobody’s been able to ask President Obama if he wears one, because they’ll need to pass at least a half-dozen more “Freedom of the Press Acts” before a reporter will be allowed to ask him a question. The increasingly frustrated CBS reporter Chip Reid’s only chance to have his questions answered is to disguise himself as a Univision journalist and hope for the best.
If Chip ever does manage to get to ask Obama a question, hopefully he can ask him why he’s bashing Arizona when overall deportations have risen during this administration vs. the Bush years. It’s possible the extra deportations are unwanted Tea Partiers, but still, it’s a question worth asking.
In any case, I figure that two can play the “awareness bracelet” game.
Here are a couple that I suggest we send to the office of any Democrat we see wearing one of Baca’s bracelets — Republicans can wear ‘em too:

And one just for Baca:

A blank template is here. Create your own if you like, print it and forward it to your member of Congress. If you can fit the Oath of Office on one as a much needed reminder, even better.
Update: In comments, Opus suggest a proper “bracelet” for politicians who support not following and enforcing immigration laws:

I’m old enough to remember the POW bracelets, too. Many years later we moved nearby a former POW. I will always appreciate the kindness of the Capt. M. and his lovely family in Monument, Colorado.
So these amnesty bracelets are appalling. It seems they are trying to piggyback on the goodwill of the former. Shameful.
