“Arlington”
From reader S., a YouTube Memorial Day video tribute set to “Arlington,” by Trace Adkins:
***
President Obama, as you know, is enjoying basketball and barbecue this Memorial Day weekend in Chicago.
Let’s hope his staff has straightened him out on the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day by now.

I have absolutely no problem with Barry Soetoro not going to Arlington. It is a sacred place.
Dang you Michelle!
That’s twice in one night you brought tears to my eyes.
Once in humble gratitude and the second in disgust!
Rest In Peace fallen heros.
Like Hangfire said, I have no problem with Obama not going to Arlington, or for that matter any other place where brave American Hero’s are resting. Any words he said would be an insult for we all know it would only be said to advance some further take down of America.
I seriously doubt Obama believes this country is worth dying for. Looking at Arlington, his appology tours and national self loathing are a damnable obscenity. Cheap talk about public service from a guy who doesn’t have a clue what real service and sacrifice is.
I hope this fraud of a President stays far away from Arlington. For him to show his stupid face there would be an insult.
Stay in Chicago, odumbo, you worthless socialist fraud of a joke of a liar of a disgrace of a President….
YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY AND THE MEN WHO DIED FOR IT!
Idiot odumbo!
My humblest thanks for the people who rest at Arlington, and my deepest sympathy/empathy and prayers for the families of those who rest.
as far as our socialist CIC, “STAY AWAY YOU WORTHLESS POS!!! Do not dirty the hallowed grounds of this place with your filthy shoes!”
That’s because he, like far too many in this country, does not have an effing clue about what Memorial Day is.
I wonder what kind of ceremony he will participate in on Labor Day?
Marxist b@st@rd!
I agree! The most respectful thing Obama could do is stay away from a military cemetery on Memorial Day.
The last thing I want to see is the “Pretender-in-Chief” pretending to respect the military and our fallen warriors.
Obama will probably spend this Memorial Day with a real domestic terrorist, his buddy Bill Ayers, laughing at the damage they have done to this great nation.
Don’t be so hard on Obama -he is who he is -which isn’t saying much.
Thanks MM…can’t sleep and came onto the site and I find you’re up late like me. I agree twice in one morning you’ve brought tears to our eyes! It’s too bad that not all Americans remember what Memorial Day really is about. For many it’s just a weekend at the lake or a 3-day weekend. For without those that sacrificed they would probably not be living in the greatest country on the planet! God bless our troops and bring them home safely.
Here is my tribute:
http://vimeo.com/10863699
Ronald Reagan visited Arlington on Memorial Day 4 times in 8 years.
George H W Bush (41) never visited Arlington on Memorial Day.
Obama visited Arlington on Memorial Day last year.
Just saying …
Visiting a place where so many who have given so much for this great nation. Walking among the spirits of those who have endured and sacrificed for our way of life. It just brings a person to one’s knees in prayer. Thankful to God that such men and women have lived among us.
I have been blessed to be able to visit Arlington three times in my life.
The first time was a week before I left for Vietnam. The Second and third were when I went to Washington D.C. to pay my respects on the Marine Corps Birthday, and Veteran’s Day.
May God Bless America, and may we never forget those buried at Arlington National Cemetery, and all other National Cemeteries across out nation! … Amen
If Obama did go to Arlington, he might weep uncontrollably. Not out of sympathy for American heros, but out of sadness for America’s enemies. You see, when America takes a hit, Obama smiles, but when America succeeds, as it has so often in the past, nothing saddens the con-man-in-chief more.
<blockquoteLet’s hope his staff has straightened him out on the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day by now.
MM none of them know or care, of that I am certain.
I agree with the other commenters, it is best he stay away hallowed ground.
Rest in Peace my comrades in arms. You kept the faith to the bitter end. I salute you.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
A salute to all my brothers and sisters in arms.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”
Let the Man Child go to Chicago and avoid Arlington every year he holds office-Arlington and all other such cemeteries and memorials are better off without weaklings, cowards and fools playing silly games.
We do not need this man going there and apologizing for the sacrifice of heroes. That shameful appearance of William Jefferson Clinton at the Vietnam Memorial with his phony Prayer Visual Supreme says all that needs to be said about such cowards.
Bless our sacred dead, our veterans and their families.
Mr Obama can stay in Chicago with all his entrepreneurs. He has no business at Arlington. Joey B. can go to the shore today. He has no business there either.
Maybe peebho can invite stretch, dingy harry, ellison, stuart smalley and all the rest can eat some arugula and waygu while sipping on whatever they sip on while clebrating the destruction of our nation….
I think of the words of “La Marsiellaies”:
Arise children of the fatherland
The day of glory has arrived
Against us tyranny’s
Bloody standard is raised
Listen to the sound in the fields
The howling of these fearsome soldiers
They are coming into our midst
To cut the throats of your sons and consorts
To arms citizens
Form your battalions
March, march
Let impure blood
Water our furrows
What do they want this horde of slaves
Of traitors and conspiratorial kings?
For whom these vile chains
These long-prepared irons?
Frenchmen, for us, ah! What outrage
What methods must be taken?
It is us they dare plan
To return to the old slavery!
What! These foreign cohorts!
They would make laws in our courts!
What! These mercenary phalanxes
Would cut down our warrior sons
Good Lord! By chained hands
Our brow would yield under the yoke
The vile despots would have themselves be
The masters of destiny
Tremble, tyrants and traitors
The shame of all good men
Tremble! Your parricidal schemes
Will receive their just reward
Against you we are all soldiers
If they fall, our young heros
France will bear new ones
Ready to join the fight against you
Frenchmen, as magnanimous warriors
Bear or hold back your blows
Spare these sad victims
That they regret taking up arms against us
But not these bloody despots
These accomplices of Bouillé
All these tigers who pitilessly
Ripped out their mothers’ wombs
We shall enter into the pit
When our elders will no longer be there
There we shall find their ashes
And the mark of their virtues
We are much less jealous of surviving them
Than of sharing their coffins
We shall have the sublime pride
Of avenging or joining them
Drive on sacred patriotism
Support our avenging arms
Liberty, cherished liberty
Join the struggle with your defenders
Under our flags, let victory
Hurry to your manly tone
So that in death your enemies
See your triumph and our glory!
*Rest in peace to all that made the ultimate sacrifice for our beloved country; We will restore honor and integrity to the office of the CiC, Lord willing; Just allow us about two and a half years to get the job done; It is time for the citizenry to get results, not give excuses!
If you listen carefully, up in Heaven, you can hear General George Washington leading our vets in rememberance ceremonies.
Thank you to all our vets.
I’m glad this president won’t be at Arlington. I don’t want to hear a word from him. My father fought the Japanese in the Pacific and would have been part of the invasion of Japan had we not used the A-bomb to end the war. Millions of Japanese and thousands of Americans would have died in the invasion no doubt. This president uses snide remarks about our treatment of the Japanese and our use of the ultimate weapon to show his contempt for America. I don’t want to hear a word from him about sacrifice, or duty, or honor, or love of country, or anything else. Not this week-end. Not one word.
Obama’s absence at Memorial Day services is appropriate. He does not merit being in the presence of the dead in those hallowed places.
Frankly, he’s not welcome.
Roger that.
Yes, we wouldn’t want him pointing out the fallen heroes in the crowd.
Like others here, I agree. Mr. Obama is like an outsider; it seems he has not one drop of Patriot blood flowing through him.
When were you over there? I was with Radio Relay, H&S, 1st Marines 70-71.
I have two friends in section 60, others buried in other National Cemetaries or plots in their hometowns.
They gave the “last full measure of their devotion”. It is they whose stories I tell my boys and their friends. It is they who placed themselves voluntarily in a thin green line between chaos and all they loved. Their sacrifice, their devotion, their loyalty and duty is what we must remember and celebrate.
To absent comrades.
I’m glad little Barry isn’t going to Arlington. A cowardly traitor should never stand on hallowed ground.
God grant we never forget what we owe to those who died in the sacred cause of Freedom.
I join those who agree Obama is unworthy to set foot – or basketball sneaker – on the sacred ground of Arlington. For those with an interest in history, I am about finished reading a spectacular book on the history of Arlington National Cemetery named “On Hallowed Ground – the story of Arlington National Cemetery”, by Robert M. Poole.
Lastly, in my one and only plug for my blog, I just added a special post in honor of those brave men who gave everything for our freedom. Read it HERE
To them it dredged up bad memories of fallen comrades……mr obama just doesn’t care or at least has no memories to comprehend what he is seeing….
just sayin…..
Rather than suffer the embarrassment of not knowing the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day our ‘fearless’ leader (the One they have to clean off beaches so his ‘holeyness’ can walk on water) he’ll just pick up his toys and go play somewhere else. Works for me…. Sadly, he’ll have another opportunity to flub up come Armed Forces Day!
Being prez is hard, hard I tell ya.

I guess it’s just one of those things you don’t pick up in Harvard or while being a community organizer.
I’m glad BHO stayed away from Arlington.
How much heart felt feelings can you give when reading a telepromter?
Nothing personal TOTUS.
This is the guy who at 18 was the youngest pilot in the Navy, flew 58 combat missions, was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross and three airmedals right? Not the guy who at 18 was snorting Coke, and as an adult wouldn’t put his hand over his heart for the Pkedge of Allegiance? I often get them confused. No wait – I don’t.
To be fair, the least qualified commander in chief in history is also doing something for veterans at a Chicago cemetery. Of course he’s also set to deliver on killing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell in the military while he’s at it, and disarming the country by reducing any testing of our nuclear stockpile. Man, it’s tough keeping up with your agenda when you’re Barack Hussein Obama! Transforming America is tough business.
Chicago
That really made the news.

May you, Michelle, be honored for your support and caring for the troops who fought and will fight. How can I, a Marine that fought in Vietnam, ever thank you for the yeoman’s work you have done for all of us and for the country. May I just say this, God Bless You!
I’m glad the little man child is on vacation and not pretending to care about the military. The more he is on vacation the less he is doing to further destroy the US.
I humbly and wholeheartedly agree!
O-Bow-Mao is a traitor. God bless the many troops who never came home.
IMPEACH OBAMA
Humans were created with a survival instinct that comes in quite handy most of the time. What, then, drives a person to move toward deadly danger rather that fleeing it. Courage comes when someone embraces a cause higher than themselves – defence and protection of family, friends, freedom, nation…
This is why Barry and Arlington are a contradiction of terms. If you are enamored with yourself, your quest will be self preservation and aggrandizement. Community organizing is a nice thing I suppose, but I don’t ever recall a community organizer laying down their life for the cause.
Bush and Reagan get a pass from me. Just sayin’. Having said that, I believe the place of the CINC on Memorial day is at Arlington. I dont know why Reagan and Bush didnt go, it certainly was NOT from lack of respect for the military and their sacrifices or from lack of regard for their country. Unlike some other President I could name. Obama goes because he has to. No doubt in my mind he’d rather be someplace else.
Nor is there any doubt for me. He doesn’t go to honor American Heros, he goes because he knows the public will hold it against him if he doesn’t. That’s the ONLY reason.
