We’ve had the Summer of Love and the Summer of the Shark. Now, are you ready for the Summer of Corruption? On Thursday, jury selection begins in the federal trial of disgraced former Democrat Gov. Rod Blagojevich of Illinois. The timing couldn’t be worse for Blago’s old Chicago pals in the White House. Just as Team Obama tries to bury one job-trading scandal, another one resurfaces.
It’s a useful reminder that Washington didn’t turn Obama into a business-as-usual politician. He was born and bred among the slimiest in their class.
At the center of the Blago trial is the convergence of the Chicago political machine – the corrupt Democratic Party establishment, Big Labor heavies at the Services Employees International Union, and Team Obama.
In December 2008, the political ties that bind them all came under national scrutiny when federal prosecutors publicly released their criminal complaint against Blagojevich. SEIU figured prominently in Blago’s secretly taped musings on how to profit from his power to appoint Obama’s Senate replacement. So did a larger union umbrella federation, Change to Win, led by SEIU secretary-treasurer Anna Burger. Blago hatched a plan to snag a $300,000-a-year job as head of Change to Win in exchange for appointing a union-friendly successor to Obama.
Like Obama, Blago enjoyed massive campaign donations and on-the-ground support from the SEIU’s Purple Army. Like Obama, Blago repaid his Big Labor backers with labor-friendly executive orders and legislative largesse to facilitate union organizing and carve out major portions of the health care industry for them. At the time of his arrest, Blago was preparing another executive order to expand the union power grab over an even larger portion of home health care workers targeted by the SEIU.
Blagojevich did the country an extraordinary unintended favor. As health care analyst David Catron wrote: “He has made it clear to the meanest intelligence that Obama emerged from a hopelessly corrupt political culture. Barack Obama oozed from the same stinking Chicago swamp that produced Blagojevich, and a man whose formative years were spent wallowing in the muck with such creatures isn’t likely to be long in White House before the stench of pay-to-play politics begins to pervade the place.”
Fast-forward. Nearly two years later, Obama’s legal fixers can’t mask the Chicago-esque odor of Sestak-gate. The president’s legal team, led by chief fixer and legal counsel Bob Bauer, orchestrated a Memorial Day weekend document dump intended to squash mounting public criticism of the administration’s alleged government job offer to Pennsylvania Democrat senatorial candidate Joe Sestak. Bauer’s memo acknowledged that “options for Executive Branch service were raised with him” through former President Bill Clinton, whom White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel enlisted to woo Sestak.
Blago knows all about working with Team Obama through intermediaries to explore, ahem, “options.” Blago’s then-chief of staff, John Harris, allegedly mapped out “three-way deal” to give the White House a “buffer” obscuring the obvious quid pro quo. SEIU would assist Obama with Blago’s appointment of a union-friendly candidate; Blago would get his cushy union job; and SEIU would be rewarded down the road with favors from the White House. Team Blago reached out to the SEIU. An unnamed SEIU official agreed to float their plan and “see where it goes.”
The Senate candidate Blago allegedly approached was top Obama adviser and Chicago political godmother Valerie Jarrett, who removed herself from the running when she took a top White House adviser post instead. Who was the “SEIU official” Team Blago spoke with and met? Internal communications in December 2008 fingered President Obama’s longtime Chicago pal, SEIU Local 1 president Tom Balanoff. Balanoff, not coincidentally had been appointed by Blago to the llinois Health Facilities Planning Board.
Two days before Christmas 2008, legal counsel Greg Craig released an official, self-exonerating report outlining contacts between Team Obama and Team Blago. Balanoff, it turns out, had indeed spoken with Jarrett. The Obama defense? Despite her much-touted political brilliance, the legal team argued, Jarrett “did not understand the conversation to suggest that the Governor wanted the cabinet seat as a quid pro quo for selecting any specific candidate to be the President-Elect’s replacement.” The Blago subpoena of the president filed last month begs to differ – and directly implicates Obama:
“…despite President Obama stating that no representatives of his had any part of any deals, labor union president [presumably SEIU’s Andy Stern] told the FBI and the United States Attorneys that he spoke to labor union official on November 3, 2008 who received a phone message from Obama that evening. After labor union official listened to the message labor union official told labor union president “I’m the one”. Labor union president took that to mean that labor union official was to be the one to deliver the message on behalf of Obama that Senate Candidate B was his pick.”
It’s going to be a long, hot summer of Chicago corruption.

So many indictments, so little time.
And yesterday Holder declared that the DOJ will target global corruption. I think he meant that Team Obama wants their cut of that pie too.
Which rat will come out on top of this heap? Who can tell the most believable lie?

I’d say Jarrett is doing most of the touting herself.

These days you can’t tell the corrupt politicians in Washington without a scorecard. One conviction with real prison time for these sleazoids would cure a hell of a lot of this. Pattycake with Bubba the father raper for a few years would give these jerks something to think about.
zero and his criminal enterprise administration are sewer dwellers. the stench coming from the wh must be unbearable. the corruption this joke of an administration brings to the wh is truly amazing. zero isn’t even good enough to be used as butt wipe as the toxic rash he’d leave would be lethal.
If Holder would investigate the Obama and Chicago political machines he’d have enough to keep him busy for a long time. Forget world corruption, there’s plenty of it here.
I do not understand why this bho will not testify in this case? He is knee deep in this mess, so how the heck is getting out of this? My guess, he would be lying under oath. If this bho keep up his corruption in almost every thing he is doing, I just pray he will someday have to testify in something!

Unfortunately, the corruption will continue as long as Holder is AG. AND, if he leaves, another corruptocrat will take his place. That is all Obama knows…he has no friends or cronies who aren’t corrupt. That is the pool he is pulling his administration out of. It is not going to stop until Obama is toast. Hopefully in November, we can at least slow him down!
There will come a day when Obama will be completely “outed” and the whole world will see everything about him, tied up in one neat package and irrefutable. Even then, some idiots will STILL deny his corruption. The veil over some eyes is too thick to penetrate and those are the lost.

The thing that irks me the most about all this political corruption is the absolute GALL that the president shows EVERY TIME he chastises a profitable American company.
Obama spends his time chastising others in an environment that Obama could NEVER succeed. . . The corporate world is full of winners and losers. Winners work very hard for whatever profit they might be so fortunate to get.
The government doesn’t operate that way (neither do unions). Obama’s government operates in a ‘we always have money’ sort of way. Nobody in Wall Street could run a business like that. In the real world, efficiency and cherishing every single dollar of revenue is the main priority. You have to please your customers or you go out of business.
We can vote politicians out, but they still get paid.
What I don’t understand is why they have the authority to question and chastise American businesses for the practices that may have been questionable. . . but they don’t feel they need to answer questions for political situations that are borderline criminal at minimum.
Obama is a crook. But he is enabled by the crooks that put him in place. Obama doesn’t think the government can run out of money. After all, there will always be ‘some rich guy’ to demonize who ‘owes’ the government for allowing him to make so much money by working hard.
I am so sick of DC. They provide nothing of value, but they take whatever they want.
The ONLY way to rid the District of Corruption of that corrpution is to STOP voting for corruption. In both parties.
In the last election we had a choice of TWO Soros owned candidates, both of whom offered: amnesty, bailouts, debt beyond our wildest imaginations.

We’re looking very good to win at least 2 seats back in Georgia. How about your state? Help me out here…how will they be able to rig the elections? They will play with the census to try to reassign more electoral votes to Dem districts. From what I’ve read, if they could actually pull it off, they might swing a few percent that way. Not the margins they’ll need.
So how many folks do you suppose will be willing to actually take up arms against the government? My guess; maybe a couple hundred, a thousand? Who’s your commander? Where are you going to strike or are you just going to hold out? I hear there’s some property for sale near Waco. Some of the evidence you presented as “irrefutable proof” turned out to be false. I could see that even without the real expert analysis linked. Could be why your comments were deleted, but I don’t know. I’d rather discuss things than have opposing ideas rejected.
It is not smearing you to request some verifyable evidence of your claim. That is all I ask. You may notice I am the only skeptic here that will even discuss it. That is because I would like to see anything take Barry down. I don’t believe the birth issue will. Prove me wrong. Please. Wishing something to be true doesn’t make it true. It’s too late now. Let’s try putting in place a system that requires all candidates to be certified as eligiblle by the Supreme Court prior to the election.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Stung by a series of inquiries, nearly half the members of the Congressional Black Caucus want to scale back the aggressive ethics procedures that Democrats trumpeted after gaining control of Congress.
Now why would that be? I would think THE MOST ETHICAL CONGRESS EVER would welcome aggressive ethics procedures. Perhaps I am mistaken.

I’m not sure if its the times we live in with its 24 hour news cycle, but I do not remember a time where it seemed that the Congress was almost 100% filled with self-interested slobs who were devoid of ethics; caring only about lining their pockets during public service, and after. Corruption seems now to be the norm.

Has anyone asked whether Hillary Clinton was offered the Secreatary of State job in return for conceding the Democratic Presidential primary?!?
I fully believe that she was prepared to launch a floor fight at the Democratic National Convention, and only backed off when:
1) Obama offered he the SoS job, and
2) She realized that she did not have the numbers to win a floor fight.
Remember, that because no one knew for sure how the superdelegates were going to vote, the outcome was not certain until Hillary conceded. And remember, too, that a Clinton-supporting superdelegate, the Arkansas Democratic chairman, was shot and killed shortly before the convention. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. To me, it feels like mob wars between two crime families – the Clinton crime family and the Obama crime family.

Not a single one of them questioned whether having had foreign subjecthood/citizenship disqualifies someone from being considered a “natural born citizen” of the United States, and therefore disqualified from holding the office of President.

There is not presently in place a system that requires a candidate to be certified as eligible by the Supreme Court before his name can appear on the ballot.
What we have now is that one needs to object in order for qualifications to be tested after the fact. The situation we’re in now could be avoided by verifying before any votes are cast. The present system is obviously not functional because this wouldn’t still be an issue, would it?
I remember reading something about a bill in AZ requiring such proof before a candidate could appear on the ballot. I don’t know what if anything became of it, but it would only cover future ballots.

It’ll take a GOP win of at least one chamber of Congress so they can call hearings and subpoena witnesses. Even then the hearings will be ignored by the drive by media, but getting Sestak, or Blags, or Rahm, or the people in the Walpin firing case asserting 5th Amendment priviledge (or risk perjury indictments if the GOP gains the White House and the Department of Justice) might be enough to force even the Lamestream Media to pay attention.

This looks like it is starting to unravel. A lot of people are implicated in this and I don’t know how it will play out but Hillary must be furious at Bill yet again for getting dragged into this insanity.
This may well be the thing that ties up Obama between now and 2012. With more and more job offers popping up it is going to be difficult to shove it aside.
If conservatives do well in 2010 and appear to be headed to even bigger wins in 2012 I can see this turning in to a Watergate-like scandal with Obama resigning and Biden stepping in, issuing a pardon and Hillary running in 2012 after she divorces schlemiel-in-chief Bill.
The cover up is worse than the crime and this could tie up Obama and his agenda for the next three years if we are lucky.
If Hillary runs in 2012, she’d better get a new hairdresser and stop looking like a talking robot. That woman puts me to sleep just by looking at her!
Hillary will be a tough sell nationally but I suspect she will take a little time off for some “enhancements” prior to 2012. I don’t know who among the Dim-o-crats could challenge her.
I expect she makes some deal with Obama to pay off her campaign debts and then skewers Obama anyway. She will have one of those “moments of conscience” and resign over some feigned indignation when she discovers what Obama has done…

I fully believe that she was prepared to launch a floor fight at the Democratic National Convention, and only backed off when:
