Helen Thomas Retires
Ciao.
Helen Thomas’s comments that Jews should leave Israel and go back to Poland and Germany were especially weighty for me, as I’ve spent the last couple of weeks reading and watching documentaries about WWII and the Holocaust. I guess she forgot that Jews fled Poland and Germany to escape Nazi death camps, and suggesting they “go back” invoked Holocaust images.
I was sad and enraged when I saw a photo of naked Jewish women walking to a mass grave to be shot, and one carried a newborn. I’ve seen lots of Holocaust photos, but that one in particular brought the tragedy into focus. According to a book on the subject, Nazi’s sometimes buried the babies alive with their dead mothers, instead of shooting them.

When did journalism become …I’ll take the facts and spin them until the results align with my philosophies? I remember the day I stopped watching the network news. I was home watching the Clarence Thomas hearings (it was live so I think it was C-span). I remember he said something profound to a question that I thought was more of an attack than anything else. I wanted to see the question/response on the news that night and watched as the late Peter Jennings spun the truth 180 degrees. I was stunned (couldnt’ believe he would lie) and never watched another broadcast.
Wow. I sent an email asking for her resignation but I thought this old dinosaur would be on camera forever.
Helen, now that you have some free time, I can suggest some fine reading. John 3:16 for a start. Then start at the beginning and read about the history of God’s people.
If only we could get rid of O-bow-mao that easily.
What’s nice to know is that when they talk about her historic 57 year career, the last thing they’ll mention is the bigotry that she accidentally spoke out loud.
Apparently nobody ever told her that joke about “you screw one chicken”.
What bugs me is that the only way Jews get any kind of “sympathy”, “tolerance”, or “understanding” is as victims of the Holocaust. Jews of the Holocaust are the only “good Jews”. Everything else about Jews is the usual hatred. Jewish success stories are condemned. Jewish culture is ignored. There’s more to Judaism than the Holocaust.
I give kudos to “Touch By An Angel” and “Babylon 5″ for positive Jewish-centered programs that have nothing whatsoever to do with the Holocaust.
She has been a PLO supporter for a long time. Her comments were truthful feelings.
Note her statement didn’t say her hateful comments were wrong. She only regretted saying them which doesn’t mean they were wrong. Then she switched the subject, that her “heartfelt belief” is that peace will come to the Middle East when there is “mutual respect” and “tolerance”. Neither of which she exhibited in her hateful comments. Not really an apology of what she said but that she had said it out loud.
This was a test which the progs failed. Thomas floated her remarks and the dinosaur media stood back without comment to see what the reaction would be. Had she been able to survive after making such odious remarks, it would have been one more example that this country is at the point of no return on its excursion to hell. That she failed is no guarantee that we won’t eventually get there, but at least for the immediate time being, the rate of travel has slowed. Thomas and Hearst can call it a retirement if they want to, but we all know what this was. Thomas stepped in the excrement so deeply this time that Hearst was unwilling to spend the capital to clean her up. Live with your legacy, Helen. You surely earned it.

I’m familiar with the joke. In Thomas’ case, she’s been screwing chickens for decades. This time she screwed the pooch.
I thought it was only fitting that she was also stopped from speaking to high school graduates in the DC area in the upcoming week or two. No telling what vile sputum she would have directed toward young, impressionable minds. Maybe they can line up a Maoist from the White House instead.

It is probably very difficult to be a conservative Christian, much less conservative Catholic, in Hollywood without lashing out at your persecutors, pre-dominantly Leftist Jews.

Mel Gibson’s father Hutto Gibson left the Roman Catholic church after Vatican 2, perhaps because of a document Nostra Aetate, in which the Church recognized it had at least indirectly encouraged the antisemitism that led to the Holocaust. The document stated all mankind shared responsibility, in Christian theology, for Christ’s death, because all men were sinners, and that the Jews were chosen as the original people of the covenant.
So Mel’s dad joined a schismatic “Catholic” church that claims Pope John, and all Popes since him, are impostors. When the Church renounced any theological basis for antisemitism, the Gibsons renounced the Church.
Mel grew up with Jew hatred all his life.
I suspect Helen Thomas was, from watching the video, tipsy herself. She is an American of Arab ethnicity.
