The Right Pro-Life Ladies

By La Shawn Barber  •  June 10, 2010 09:48 AM

Feminists of the world, rejoice!

On Tuesday, California’s Carly Fiorina won the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate, beating Tom Campbell and Chuck Devore. The breast cancer survivor will go head-to-head with Democrat Barbara “don’t call me ma’am” Boxer in November.

Nevada’s Sharron Angle (pictured) won the Republican nomination, and will face Democrat Harry Reid. She sounds like my kind of pro-life woman. Check it out:

“Angle is an anti-tax crusader and an uncompromising conservative. She favors abolishing the Departments of Education and Energy, phasing out Social Security and Medicare, and removing the United States from the United Nations.”

Wow. What’s not to love?

Tea Party-endorsed Nikki Haley, from my home state South Carolina, received a majority of the votes in the primary for the governor’s race, but will face a run-off.

Feminists are usually liberals, but one would think these strong female candidates would merit some praise. After all, if feminism is “the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men,” don’t these women qualify, even if they’re conservative?

What disqualifies these ladies from feminist adulation is their stance on unborn life: they want to protect it, not destroy it. And feminists don’t dig that.

    Wow. What’s not to love?

Indeed, she’s hit a number of my buttons.

Add Jan Brewer to the list. The conservative women are rising quickly. Our new leaders are surfacing. Good luck to all of them. It’s high time we stopped the selfish act of abortion because of too many drinks, or too low of an IQ. Feminism is maturing.

I pray the two California girls don’t revert to RINOism…the current political climate has forced at least one of them to run to the right. I hope this was an epiphany, and not simply a political calculation.

Conservatives need to hold their feet to the fire…but shouldn’t have to, if the candidates are who they portray themselves to be.

First of all, remember that a Clinton said that. One must understand the meaning of certain words, like ‘is‘. In this case, the word ‘strong’ meant ‘ugly‘ or if you will, ‘fugly.’ I that regard, Hillary was correct.

Can you name one liberal woman in office that would rate above a 3 or 4 on a manly-man rating scale (attractive inside and out, and intelligent to boot?) I seriously doubt it!

La Shawn, IMHO the term “feminist” has been co-opted by the liberals. Therefore, given their definition of the term no conservative woman can ever be a feminist.

    Being a pro-choice, progressive, liberal is a pre-requisite to being a feminist.

And from the obligatory snarky NYT’s 1st paragraph about Angle:

Even among the nation’s most febrile political contests, few choices are as stark as the one Nevada voters will make between a circumspect four-term senator, one of the most visible emblems of Democratic power in Washington, and a largely unknown former state lawmaker with 10 grandchildren, whose fondness for weightlifting and for her .44 Magnum won the ardor of the Republican Party base.

Oohhh, that .44 Magnum! Sheesh, get a life NYT. Nevada is a big gun state. Get over yourselves.

Here is just one more reason to get more pro-lifers into Congress. it appears that Congress is also trying to lift the ban on abortions in the military overseas:

Three months after abortion nearly derailed President Obama’s health care bill, the hot-button issue is back before Congress with an amendment to the Senate’s defense policy bill that would end the military’s long-established ban on allowing abortions in its overseas hospitals.

The change was sponsored by Sen. Roland W. Burris, Illinois Democrat, and passed by the Senate Armed Services Committee in late May. It would require women to pay for abortions upfront and without government funds, but would allow doctors at military hospitals to perform the procedures if those conditions are met.

The amendment would overturn a policy put into place by congressional Republicans in the mid-1990s that restricted abortions at military hospitals only to cases of rape, incest, or when the woman’s life is in danger.

But wait! Those are the only reasons abortionists ever give as rationales for legal abortion!

But wait! Republicans you say?! They are the ones who are supposed to be against abortion, even for those very listed reasons!

    You some kind of trouble-maker?

“Pro-life feminist”? Such a contradiction of terms deserves a response. Sure, feminists can be pro-life insofar as they believe that no choice exists, that life begins at conception, but it ends here. Feminism, by definition, is anti-family, which is why it’s laughable to call feminists “pro-life”. Philosophically speaking, their concern for life ends with the birth of the child. But hey, I’m a man, what would I know? Instead, I’ll let these women talk.

THIS IS EXACTLY CORRECT! No real conservative pro-life woman would allow anyone to call her a feminist. I abhor the word…there is absolutely no relationship between conservative women and feminists – they are polar opposites.

While having her makeup done for an appearance on KXTV in Sacramento, Fiorina scrolled through her BlackBerry, yawned and chatted with the folks in the studio about cheeseburgers, Sean Hannity — and Sen. Barbara Boxer’s hair. She said of her Democratic opponent’s style: “God, what is that hair?” She laughed and touched her own hair, adding, “So yesterday.”
She also volunteered her view that “it’s really surprising” that Meg Whitman, the GOP candidate for governor, was going on Hannity’s show on her first day as nominee. “I think it’s a very bad choice actually,” Fiorina said. “You know how he is.”

I’ll take Fiorina over Boxer any day. Carly isn’t my ideal candidate, but “Call me Senator” Boxer thinks that manmade “climate change” is the number one national security issue facing our country. Boxer also thinks that all blacks should engage in “group think” when it comes to politics. Remember when she talked down to that man representing the US Black Chamber of Commerce when he appeared before her committee, and raked him over the coals for not being “honored” to be able to talk to her? Fiorina’s made some mistakes in her life, but Barbara Boxer she ain’t!!

Excuse me? We’re letting the liberals have the word “feminist” now without even a fight? When did feminism drift from just meaning an attitude that women are equal?
A feminist manifesto I would write would involve breast-feeding in public, the defense of gun rights-especially for smaller guns- a rejection of state-enforced hover parenting, and a total rejection of the patriarchy’s idea that women should have to “choose” between a family and a life outside the house so that no man ever has to go grocery shopping or do dishes! Abortion is a horrific sellout to the patriarchy and the status quo, not an expression of feminism. I find it questionable that anybody “pro-choice” would call themselves a feminist, and am not ready to cede the terms used to describe Susan B. Anthony and her group to such a warped patriarchal philosophy.
