Obama: Gulf Spill Echoes 9/11 — FORE!
**Written by guest-blogger Doug Powers
You wouldn’t think it would be difficult for President Obama to understand why his response to the Gulf oil spill leaves many of us more baffled than Joe Biden in a Dunkin Donuts with no Indians behind the counter.
Obama skipped the memorial service of those killed in the Deepwater Horizon explosion to attend a fundraiser for Barbara Boxer. This morning, Obama compared the spill to 9/11, and right after comparing the oil spill to the most deadly attack on American soil, he went golfing for four hours.
“Not one man on this force will rest for one minute until the people who did this are behind bars! Now let’s go grab a bite to eat…”
–Lt. Frank Drebin
9/11 — you remember that day, when people died in an accident caused by airliners taking maintenance short-cuts combined with government environmental regulations that made buildings taller than they should be followed by the president using the tragedy as justification to pass Cap & Trade. The similarities to the Gulf spill are uncanny!
In any case, BP’s 48 hour deadline is up, and, as promised, Obama plans to lead a dramatic return to the Gulf tomorrow:

And, on this topic, here’s the quote of the day. These weasels must snicker when they write this stuff:
Fifty-four Democratic senators wrote to BP’s chief executive, Tony Hayward, demanding that BP put an initial $20bn into a ring-fenced fund. Although BP has pledged to pay clean-up costs and damages, “history has taught us that corporations often fail to live up to their initial promises”, the lawmakers wrote. They demanded a response by Friday.
Corporations don’t come through on their promises nearly as often as politicians — luckily the Democrats are on it. We’re in good hands here.

Didn’t the Democrats have a problem with the Bush admin politicizing 9/11? I seem to remember hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth on the left any time 9/11 was brought up, be it in a commercial, a speech, talking about Iraq, etc.
I’m sure we can expect the same outrage now, yes?
Um, under what law, or authority, will either Congress or the President seize 20 billion from BP?
Current law says $75 million plus cleanup costs… and even if they pass somthing today, that would not affect the origional spill as it would be either an Ex post facto law, or a Bill of Attainder…
Now, threatening someone with an action if they don’t GIVE you money, is Extortion, and against the law…
So this becomes a very interesting Legal/Political issue.
(Understatement of the year to follow): Yes, I seem to remember something about that.
Since this is just like 9-11 all over again, why don’t we secure the border this time? Isn’t that the first thing you do when the country is under attack?

NOT if you are using the laws and rules that are Chicago based.
His show of concern is contrived…as is his pathetic attempt at showing emotion. The man does not act presidential. And, lately, he doesn’t act or talk presidential. The more I see and hear this man, the less American he seems.
I initially dismissed his arrogance as narcissism, and lack of understanding as simple incompetence, but I’m beginning to question the man’s allegence.
His demeanor, and thin-skinned responses to criticism are troubling…He is acting like a man with something to hide. Why does he so vigorously avoid unscripted moments? Methinks it goes beyond just controlling the message.
This is one of many, Doug.
I never thought I would see an administration more inept than Carter’s. I stand corrected. Even Carter would have figured things out by now.
Obama’s team literally has no idea what to do. They are lost, totally lost.
Has anybody spotted the Killer Rabbit yet?
What they said to Obama: “You’d better do something about the Gulf.”
What Obama heard: “You’d better play some Golf”.
Enchanting.
I weep, every day…
I bet they are wondering how to work him into a picture like this as we speak.
OT, but Meanchelle talked to the Marines at Pendleton today telling us America is not doing enough to support our troops.
My response:
Oh great, according to this dizzy broad, Americans have just been sitting around doing nothing in support of our troops since 9/11.
Are there grown-ups in this administration that might want to step up and read some of the comments these nitwits make prior to making them? Perhaps they wouldn’t look so stupid making them if they were vetted first.
Hey, Meanchelle, have a look at your own party and tell them to start supporting the troops.
I guess it’s a little late for Murtha. Were there any family members there at Pendleton whose loved one was railroaded by him?
How about John Efing Kerry suggesting our soldiers were terrorizing women and children in Af’stan?
Or Little Dick Durbin suggesting our soldiers were similar to Nazi’s, who ran Gulag’s, etc?
Or Boxer herself? Did she ever step up when Code Stink was harassing recruiters in her district? H.e.l.l, her entire state?
How about supporting the troops rather than declaring their war effort was lost prior to the surge even getting to Iraq like Dingy Harry Reid?
Did Tom Harkin support the troops when he falsely claimed combat duty?
How about any member of your party who has played politics for years with soldiers used as your pawns?
Where were you during the Clinton years when many families had to resort to Food Stamps?
Oh yeah, making big bucks and dumping patients while hubby was agitating and meeting with a known domestic terrorist whose group actually bombed the Pentagon.
Wasn’t it that same buddy of yours who had a NY Times interview, released on 911 in which he said he didn’t go far enough in his bombing? Didn’t that interview include a picture of him standing on the American Flag?
Wasn’t it your preacher of 20 years who declared we were hit on 911 because of our military?
Last, but not least and the biggest of all, talk to that raving nitwit in the White House. You know, the one with the big ears. He was the one who suggested those of us wounded in service should pay for our own care.
I see the Associated w/ terrorists Press is blogging again. They changed the story I linked above so as to not look like such a naked campaign event for Boxer by now saying she was accompanied by another Dem.
The new story also spells out how much money Boxer got for Pendleton.
They also included how Meanchelle has been helping troops since the ’08 campaign. Gee, how nice.
…and added a little human touch by including comments from a single Marine mother.
Good of AP to be so helpful to the ‘Crats. /sarc
Then again…Iran Hostage Crisis? Jimmeh sat in the White House for a year scratching his peanut head over that one. Iran finally released them when Reagan was elected. They knew Reagan would kick some butt.
Oh Swede I hear you….. I lived all 444 days of it and you are so right.
But also remember Three Mile Island.
The oil disaster is more like that. Carter was a Navy officer and a nuclear engineer. In this crisis he would have at least been able to understand the basics, ask some hard questions, and understand the answers. Obama, can’t even do that. He has no understanding, background or point of reference.
His diliema is he cannot vote “Present.” You can tell by his actions he desparately wants to.
Ok, so on 9/11, Bush thought for 6 minutes – and the Dems thought he was slow – then KICKED SERIOUS A$$.
Obama’s had how many weeks – and then went golfing.
BTW, the photo is choice.
Bho needs some new speech writers because he’s spewing gibberish. Being POTUS is turning out to be above his pay grade.
I am proud to be an American Vet but I am ashamed to acknowledge this nitwit as our president. That is the biggest insult I can think of. I could add some profanity but why bother. I don’t think the guy really cares. He is just so totally detached from reality, it is downright scary. When I see pictures of him walking on the beaches (I grew up in Pensacola), I actually would prefer that he not even step on the sand. The only answer this idiot has for any problem is to throw $$$ at it. I have seldom seen someone so lacking of leadership ability elevated to such a lofty position. I hope that intelligent Americans will join me in an effort to vote this man out of office.
And Teh Won will give a national address Tues. night on the spill.
Great to see how successful all those other speeches and statements have been in stopping this.
If the comparisons of the BP Oil Spill to 9/11 were true:
Where’s the liberal soul-searching about why those poor muslims (susbtitute BP for ‘muslims’) hate us?
Let me ask, which is more important for BP to spend their last dime on, the cleanup or compensation because I’d wager they don’t have money to cover both and probably not even enough to cover a single one fully.
I note Fannie and Freddie are still gushing …
It is obvious that the ‘new plan’ will be pushing crap and tax, using the mis-handled oil spill as the crisis not to be wasted. I really don’t want to think that this administration is dragging it’s feet on purpose to advance legislation, but at the same time, given it’s history, what else can I believe? An executive order would be all that is needed to waive the Jones Act so that foreign oil spill vessels can work in US territorial waters, but then that would entirely hack off the unions. FYI – the Jones Act simply stated says that only US flagged, US crewed, US owned vessels can operate… Can anyone list the number of US flagged vessels? Hint – during the Gulf War we had to contract foreign flagged vessels to lift our military because there weren’t any US flagged vessels – the maritime unions ended our commercial dominance of the sea after WWII. The EPA’s mission needs to be under Sunset review – it is another case of a bureaucracy self justifying it’s existence. It’s original purpose was well intended, but now it has become a self serving monster that this administration is using to bypass legislative authority. Many ideas and processes to clean up the spill have been brought forth, only to earn the dreaded ‘That hasn’t been approved by the EPA’ kiss of death. What ever happened with the oil eating nematodes invented by Texas A&M over a decade ago? Those were EPA approved, we used them to clean up our manholes that were around the refineries.
Now the Sock Puppet is equating 9/11 – with an oil rig explosion? Is this dolt saying the Oil Rig Explosion is a terrorist act? WTF is this idiot talking about or does he even know?
EPA has been under poor management for decades, so no surprise that the current director is inept.
We have come a long way from the Bush is stupid – we can lead better days, to arrive at the – we haven’t a clue what to do here days. Didn’t Saul Alnisky have anything in his play book for oil spills?
It seem one can’t fix a disaster with a disaster for a “leader”. Just how far will this administration drive the country into the ground while Bho plays golf?
Carter had executive experience and his past was an open book.
It’s sad to say, but Barack Obama is no Jimmy Carter.
Geeez. When conservatives are saying this, we are really in trouble.
The good old days of Jimmah Carter. Wow.
It’s like 9-11 times a thousand.
You mean…?
Yes. 911,000.
I will not abide any mention of September 11, 2001 coming out of this one’s mouth.
Jimmah wanted us to take cold showers, Bambi doesn’t want us to shower at all. They both have wives with big mouths. How is Miss Rosalynn’s butt doing? I miss old Jimmah like I miss a root canal–feels so good when it’s over.
But let Big Ears attend the fund raisers-take Salazar with him- and let adults handle the oil spill.
So, Muslim terrorists flew an airliner into an oil rig? How did I miss this on the MSM? Oh that’s right, Lindsay Lohan was getting her ankle bracelet that day.
Rogue,
I’m just waiting for the first contestant on Dancing With The Stars that’s currently wearing one of those.

As soon as money is set aside, the Chicago Mafia will get busy trying to steal it. It’s just a crying shame to leave a pile of money that big un-stolen.
I was going to post a sarcastic comment here. . .but it appears Mr. Powers has used up the entire national sarcasm reserve for this article.
Obama wants to make comparisons to 9/11?
Really?
Perhaps he should address these truths about himself and Bill Ayers.
Gridlock #18: You are so perceptive – let no money go unstolen!
YASHMAK #39: ditto!
Jimmy made some money at age 7 by buying cotton, storing it until the price went up, then selling it for a tidy profit. Then bought some real estate. Yes, I said age 7. He was still collecting rent off the property when he went off to the Naval Academy.
After someone ran his blind trust into negative territory while he was President – to the tune of several million dollars – he buuilt it back up.
For all his craziness, and previous record as worst president of my lifetime – he had skills and achievements that dwarf anything Obama can muster.
Screw all this hate and Nazi teabagging nonsense, what America really wants to know is how did Opie fare on the par 5′s yesterday!!!!
I know that Obama has a great many faults, but I have to give him credit. . .he is an absolute ace at going up and down the stairs on Air Force One. Reading teleprompters and going up and down stairs, great attributes of a president. Oh, I forgot golf.
The National Disaster is speaking tomorrow on the national disaster.
It will amount to “Let them eat cake”
I love the General Obama picture. That is funny.
Speaking of Obama and 9/11… here’s today’s news from Kenya…
You are killin’ me – I’m laughin’ so hard at SILLYGATBOY#45 ‘ “the National disaster is speaking on the national disaster…” Lord, that’s funny.
