Pining for his own 9/11

Doug Powers skewered Obama’s odious 9/11-BP oil spill analogy the other day — setting the Soros-bots at Media Matters into a fit over “right-wing media misrepresentation” of the remarks.
But it isn’t just “right-wing media” in America taking offense.
From the London Daily Mail:
British families of 9/11 victims described Barack Obama as ‘cruel’ yesterday for comparing the terrorist outrage to the BP oil spill.
The U.S. president said there were ‘echoes’ between the Gulf of Mexico disaster and the Al Qaeda suicide attacks which killed 2,995 people, including 67 Britons.
He said that just as the events of September 11, 2001, had profoundly shaped ‘our view of our vulnerabilities and our foreign policy’, so the oil disaster would shape thinking on the environment and energy for years to come.
Those who lost loved ones when terrorists flew hijacked planes into the Twin Towers of New York’s World Trade Centre said Mr Obama’s remarks were yet another attempt to slur the UK.
Joy Bennett, 66, a mother of two from Amersham in Buckinghamshire whose son Oli, a 29-year-old financial journalist, died, said: ‘It is an unfair parallel and is really a cruel thing to say.
John Podhoretz digs deeper and probes Obama’s 9/11 envy in the NYPost today:
So what on earth could the president have been thinking?
The first possibility is that there is some kind of perverse wish being expressed in these words. They have a wistful quality, as though the president wished he had a different crisis, a more popular crisis, on his hands.
… What the deployment of the 9/11 analogy suggests is that Obama would like to treat BP as though it were al Qaeda, at least rhetorically — a villain for him to confront on behalf of the wounded American people.
That may seem politically shrewd to Obama and his team, but it will have parlous consequences. The analogy muddies and obfuscates.
By comparing an unwanted disaster to a conscious act of war, Obama is adding an improper moral dimension to the effort to clean up the Gulf — a moral reckoning that will make it harder rather than easier to focus on the task of actually plugging the damn hole.
By likening the murder of 3,000 people and the efforts to take out the US government to a series of mistakes that added up to a catastrophe, Obama has defined evil down in a fashion that does immense violence to good sense, good taste and good leadership.
Flashback: Obama in crisis.

May the Farce be with you.
Gore probably would have followed the Clinton example, a harshly worded UN resolution, a few key al Qaeda masterminds indicted in the district court in Manhattan, a few cruise missiles into empty al Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan, and then business as usual until the next big terror attack.
But if Gore had gone the Bush route after September 11th, or after March 22nd or June 17th or whenever the following al Qaeda attack would have certainly happened, instead of a couple of months of the Dems and the media pretending to show solidarity with the Commander in Chief and the Troops, it would have been like FDRs World War 2 again, the Good War.
Sure, a few Code Pink fringo-whacks would have still been out protesting, but CBS and the New York Times would fawn over Gore’s alpha-male toughness in battling al Qaeda, and the enemy would have known Americans were committed to victory, and would have lost hope much sooner.

I wouldn’t touch that with someone else’s pole.
I actually see the connection.
9/11 was our fault because of our foreign policy and we deserved it.
The oil spill is our fault because of our dependence on oil and we deserve it.
Excellent link Michelle.
Obama is an incompetent ideologue committed to an utterly failed ideology! It doesn’t get any more frustrating than that.
As Victor Davis Hanson said recently, Obama seems committed to a race with Europe to see which nation races off the cliff into financial oblivion first.
The great irony is that just as Europe seems to have suddenly discovered that socialism has led them to the brink of economic disaster, Obama is accelerating our pace toward socialism!

I still think Obama has allowed this “incident” to linger in order to CREATE the “crisis” his administration needs to push their progressive agenda further down our throats.
Looks like it may be backfiring on them!

Anyone else think that it’s not “just coincidence” that the
9/11/2001 issue of the NEW YORK Times
included an interview of Bill Ayers saying that he didn’t regret setting bombs, but rather he though that they
What you choose to name your children says a lot about you. Bill Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn named their two children Zayd and Malik.
Zayd is an Arabic name meaning “one who progresses and makes other people progress.” The most famous person in Islam named Zayd is Zayd ibn Harithah, who was the orphan boy fostered by the Muslim Prophet Muhammad.
Malik is an Arabic word meaning “king”. Malik is one of the names of Allah, “King” in the absolute sense.
I think the evidence is fairly strong that Bill Ayers is a Muslim. Combined with his self-acknowledged revolutionary Communist terrorism, in my opinion he appears to also be a jihadist.
Does anyone else think that Obama’s mentor, Bill Ayers, was involved in the planning of the last 9/11?
I do.
Al Gore and Larry David’s (Seinfeld creator) ex-wife.
Why is Tipper divorcing al Ghour? It couldn’t be avoided.
/
No, I don’t think Bill Ayers was involved in 9-11, although I suspect he cheered the attacks, and almost certainly was of like mind of fellow treasonous ‘college professor’ Ward Churchill about “Little Eichmanns”.
I don’t think BP and The Fresh Prince of Bill Ayers conspired to cause the big Gulf oil spill, but I do think Obama and Waxman and company are following the not so old Rahm Emmanuel adage, about not letting a good crisis go to waste.
So Al Gore was mowing her grass? (nudge nudge wink wink say no more!)

Let me guess, Obozo will blame everyone but himself for his failure to suspend the Jones Act to allow other countries to help, his failure to meet with BPs CEO, etc.
It does rather regurgitate the imagination, doesn’t it? The science may be settled – the stomach is not!
Yeah, the forensic evidence pretty well proved that Mary Jo Kopechne suffocated in the back seat of Teddy’s car while he was running around trying to dream up an alibi.
I have no sympathy for Teddy. Maybe the Lord will have mercy on him but he got better than he deserved in this life…

Ted Kennedy, the DWI Killer, didn’t deserve to be hung. He committed negligent homicide, or manslaughter, depending on how the actual Massachusetts law reads. Probably a prison term under ten years. Leaving the scene might have added a year or two, and any resulting false statements to law enforcement.
If Fat Teddy had spent the 70s in prison, instead of partying with his drinking and women sandwich buddy Dodd, I’d have been satisfied.

PPP poll shows Louisiana gives Bush higher marks for Katrina than Obama for his “Bay of Rigs” fiasco.
but Rags, c’mon. We all know Bush caused Katrina. And Obama had nothing to do with an oil rig hitting a gas pocket…or whatever the kids are calling it these days.
For that matter, a brain tumor isn’t the most pleasant way to die, but everybody has to die from something, eventually, and that chunk of human excrement enjoyed the good life in the Senate for fifty years.
Just saying, negligent homicide and leaving the scene, most places that is about five or ten years in the slammer. Which would have been justice.
An octogenarian dying of natural causes, not much justice in that.
I read the account a while ago. He walked past two occupied cottages, one only 50 yards from the accident site, to get back to the party where his lawyer buds were still partying. When they returned to the site 2 hours after the accident, Teddy sat on the bridge and rocked back and forth moaning about his flushed political career while his drunken buds tried to get to Mary Jo. These days we call it DUI Manslaughter, (not to mention leaving the scene of a fatal accident, failure to render assistance, failure to report a fatal accident, reckless endangerment…) Thanks to MADD DUI Murder carries mandatory prison time, restitution and suspension of driving privilidges for life. The irony to me has always been Teddy came to and held power only on his brother’s coat tails.
Jack swam four miles with two disabled sailors in tow and he had a broken back. Teddy couldn’t (or wouldn’t) save a girl he drowned in five feet of water. That he had a Senate seat for even 50 minutes, leave alone 50 years is obscene. His seat should have been a stainless steel head in a 6×9 cell.
Al Gore caused the oil rig fiasco. Manufacturers concerned about increased global warming, took steps to reduce their footprint by short cutting the production process when manufacturing the blow out valves.
Special note: Al Gore declined the honor of having these new “green” valves named after him…they were tentively named “Blow-hard anal orifices.”

Ah, most of my friends moved from Rhodesia to South Africa with a few emigrating to the US. They were mostly from around Bulawayo but a few were big city types from Salisbury.
In the 1980s I gave serious thought to retiring to Rhodesia when it fell apart. My friend and former foe Dr. Zingoni (sp?) left his research here to go back. He was a former Terr from Mozambique. I’ve no friends who stayed after Mugabe started letting anyone who wanted take over the farms in the countryside. Many people lost a lot, but nothing worth their lives. One friend’s 90 year old granny held off a group with her uzi till they killed her. One of the few that wouldn’t leave.
Sad state of affairs there.
Some folks lost everything.
And that’s an understatement. The one amazing thing is that SA hasn’t fallen apart the way the others have. It’s on the brink ‘though. Namibia & Botswana are holding their own too.
But everyone should see how beautiful Cape Town is…and sample wine from Stellenbosch & Paarl. Ag, man.
Even the lefties are seeing the Obama is ill-prepared to be President of the United States. He’s still just an angry marxist activist through and through.
Sounds to me like a back handed way of a liberal once again blaming the 9-11 attacks on our foreign policy: we brought it on ourselves. You can’t teach stupid.

I couldn’t agree more.
Everything this man has said and done since coming on the national scene has shown that these are his sentiments regarding American foreign policy and American energy policy.
In light of that, the connection to what he said is clear to me.
I should have put the sarc/tag I guess.
