Pining for his own 9/11

Doug Powers skewered Obama’s odious 9/11-BP oil spill analogy the other day — setting the Soros-bots at Media Matters into a fit over “right-wing media misrepresentation” of the remarks.
But it isn’t just “right-wing media” in America taking offense.
From the London Daily Mail:
British families of 9/11 victims described Barack Obama as ‘cruel’ yesterday for comparing the terrorist outrage to the BP oil spill.
The U.S. president said there were ‘echoes’ between the Gulf of Mexico disaster and the Al Qaeda suicide attacks which killed 2,995 people, including 67 Britons.
He said that just as the events of September 11, 2001, had profoundly shaped ‘our view of our vulnerabilities and our foreign policy’, so the oil disaster would shape thinking on the environment and energy for years to come.
Those who lost loved ones when terrorists flew hijacked planes into the Twin Towers of New York’s World Trade Centre said Mr Obama’s remarks were yet another attempt to slur the UK.
Joy Bennett, 66, a mother of two from Amersham in Buckinghamshire whose son Oli, a 29-year-old financial journalist, died, said: ‘It is an unfair parallel and is really a cruel thing to say.
John Podhoretz digs deeper and probes Obama’s 9/11 envy in the NYPost today:
So what on earth could the president have been thinking?
The first possibility is that there is some kind of perverse wish being expressed in these words. They have a wistful quality, as though the president wished he had a different crisis, a more popular crisis, on his hands.
… What the deployment of the 9/11 analogy suggests is that Obama would like to treat BP as though it were al Qaeda, at least rhetorically — a villain for him to confront on behalf of the wounded American people.
That may seem politically shrewd to Obama and his team, but it will have parlous consequences. The analogy muddies and obfuscates.
By comparing an unwanted disaster to a conscious act of war, Obama is adding an improper moral dimension to the effort to clean up the Gulf — a moral reckoning that will make it harder rather than easier to focus on the task of actually plugging the damn hole.
By likening the murder of 3,000 people and the efforts to take out the US government to a series of mistakes that added up to a catastrophe, Obama has defined evil down in a fashion that does immense violence to good sense, good taste and good leadership.
Flashback: Obama in crisis.

You need not wonder further…you have answered it yourself, Podhoretz.
Yes. The answer is he is perverse.
If it’s like 9/11 why has the Nit Wit in Chief taken so long to respond? I’m so sick of his lies.
His pathetic pledge to do something rings hollow. He’s a sock puppet.
If he creates an outside enemy…it’s all of us rallied behind him against the evil doers. Yep…he’s dying for a 9/11.
Sad thing is, he’s willing to let a lot of us die so that he can have one too.
In the President’s mind, evil is not found in radical islam. Evil is only found in “capitalist greed”.
I’m half-expecting him to climb on top of his desk and use a bullhorn to address the nation tonight.
Fearless leader will do and say anything to deflect his mishandling of this incident and any comparison with Katrina. The Sock Puppet said everything possible to bash Bush and now that he sits in the same chair must point his finger elsewhere.
Question for the Sock Puppet – two Dutch firms offered their assistance 3 days after the Rig Explosion and your regime turned them down – why????
It certainly doesn’t “echo 9/11″ when comparing the rally of support around Bush after 9/11 vs. Obama after the Gulf spill.
I expect gas prices to rise after tonights speech.
Spilt oil, spilt blood, oh yeah, same difference!
Only cheap politicians like Obama could come up with a stupid analogy like comparing 9/11 to the Gulf oil disaster. How pathetic.
Oh yeah, they’re the same, including pictures of Muslims celebrating in the streets!
BP got the Pan Am 103 terrorist released by Scotland so they could cut a deal with Libya.
That makes them with the terrorists.
So there is a bit of a connection, just not one Obama has in mind.
It is no coincidence the most pc oriented and morally obtuse oil company is the one at the center of this disaster.
The Don Quixote presidency, if Don Quixote were not trying to destroy corporate America. When you only have one community organizer rhetorical tool in your tool box, every problem looks like a windmill.
What next for President Chauncey?
Maybe he should compare it to the great San Francisco earthquake. Or to the Civil War. Maybe the Holocaust – he’s already pissed Israel off in just about every other way possible.
I hear that tonight’s speech is going to be a festival of legal-ese. “We’re going to sue, we’re going to indict, we’re going to litigate!”
We haven’t quite elected a Churchill here, have we? Teddy Roosevelt crapped bigger than this weenie.
When George W. Bush looks BRILLIANT by comparison, that’s when you know you are seriously stupid.
When John F. Kennedy looks like a master-tactician by comparison, that’s when you know that you are a complete toad as a leader.
Barack H. Obama is, without a doubt, the stupidest, most inept POTUS we’ve had since at least Wilson – and probably more like Johnson. The FIRST Johnson.
What a complete failure this man is.
Obama has no comprehension of the role of a president. A real president doesn’t manufacture a crisis from whole cloth or liken an industrial accident to an overt act of war.
You do if you are a socialist looking for some meaning in your life. Now we are all going to have to listen to the press lie about how this is such a catasrophe on the level of…(fill in the wartime analogy blank.)
Once again, what has Obama done in the entire time since this oil spill started? He fired someone. The Republican governors of the affected states are demanding help and getting little, but are doing what they can with what they have.
Republicans – working. Socialists – blaming.
‘Nuff said.
Isn’t it really just an attempt to have us to look upon the oil spill as something other than a Hurricane Katrina type event?
Let’s not forget, this is the president concerned with style over substance.
Obama. What can you say? Once again, a little man who is way out of his league. Embarrassing and dangerous.
We can’t wait until 2012. Impeachment now.
et, you are probably right. And just to put icing on the cake, last night’s news cast was saying how gas prices were low. I wonder how they’re going to spin the rise in prices? Certainly not having anything to do with Obama’s speech!
Let’s look at that comparison:
Bush was criticized for sitting for about 5 minutes in that classroom before he reacted.
Obummer has played golf, gone to Paul McCartney concerts, had dinner dates with his wife, etc. for about 1 1/2 months before he responded.
Bush stood on the rubble with a bull horn and said, “The world will hear from us!” and the world DID.
Obummer said “Plug the @#%&* hole!” and “I want to know whose *&%$ to kick!”
There is no comparison.
Sure there is. In the eyes of the press: Obama is a bad@$$ that’s going to take on the ee-vil corporations, and find an @$$ to kick; Bush just got lucky that 3,000 people died on his watch.
It’s all how the liberal press will spin it for the history books.
Okay, we will soon see the birth of the equivalent of “Godwin’s Law” in regards to 9/11.
What shall we dub this new “law?” How about “Point 8181 Law” (9/11 = 0.81818181818181818181818181818182). Or “Obama Envy Law?” Or the “I Had a Crisis, Too Law?”
Not that Media Matters matters all that much but being insulted by the wimps of the Left must be terribly painful for Doug Powers; here the man sat comfortably thinking he was a mere Bitter Clinger of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy only to discover he was really a “right-wing media misrepresentation(er)”. We feel your pain Doug.
Yes we know Bambi will not let this crisis go to waste. Indeed his EPA and Secretary Salazar hindered local efforts at clean up and containment in the name of Photo Op. Cap and Trade, oil company regulations and seizing of funds and assets are in the works. “This Liberal” Maxine Waters must be thrilled. Bambi and the Chicago mafia are on a roll.
But at the moment Doug’s pain over shadows all-not that Media Matters matters all that much. Anyone know of any BP stations in Maricopa County? Fill up for Doug.
HMMMM, I don’t remember reading much in the history books about Jimmah, and I suspect the only thing I’ll read in the history books about Obozo is that he was our first and last experiment with a black muslim president.
That is merely what the America-haters/socialists/statists/collectivists/elitists/opposite-worldview holders/domestic enemies have been doing in academia, the media, public “education”, the “arts”, and in politics for the past 40-45 years.
OBambi is not difficult to understand, nor is it difficult to determine what he and his pals have in store for us when you are acutely aware of two facts; 1) It’s all about him 2) He is an empty suit.
It all depends on which side one is on.
To the domestic enemies, America-haters, socialists, statists, know-it-all elitists, collectivists, opposite-worldview holders, and domestic jihadist muslim barbarians; and to jihadist muslim barbarians worldwide, B. Hussein Obama likely seems to be just the guy they want.
Wow! That picture at the top of this thread shows what I used to refer to in my arrest reports (regarding DUI’s) as a “slack-faced appearance.”
It was a big indicator of a suspect’s level of intoxication, most often with alcohol, but occasionally with a combination of alcohol and drugs. (Basically, the small muscles of the face become anesthicized.)
I’ve noticed and mentioned to my wife several times over the past year, that Obama looked “high.” Now, a lot of people will blow this off with the excuse that “the President was just tired, because he is working so darn hard.” Yeah…at partying and his golf game!
I heard this excuse alot when some of my cases went to court…and the juries never bought it. (In one 3 month period, I had a 301 to 1 conviction rate.)
If the President IS using drugs, that would explain the necessity of a telepromter, and some of his narrow-sighted “executive” decisions.
Pining for his own 9/11? Yeah, that might give him an excuse to draw attention away from his own incompetence.
We can’t be rid of this vile, odious little man soon enough.
Several here have long remarked that THE ONE is a very broken reed. His several pathologies are not hard to see or to understand, given his background.
Riehl has some news on that front. It seems there may be an awakening.
I was thinking that evil is showing in his face.
Yeah, then there’s that….
But I thought electing democrats would restore favor with our allies! Pffft.
OK, add in “slack-faced” un-pressed empty suit to OBambi’s description.
Obama has said he was in charge from day one.
We know that is NOT true.
But we also know he was responsible from day one. By law.
This picture just shows, to me anyway, a petulant little brat that is not getting his way and is being bothered by issues that he really is not concerned about. He is being made to act and make decisions, which the Sock Puppet is ill equiped to handle. He does not want to do it -
That little blip reminded me of the mental state attributed to Hitler in his final days. The paranoia seems to be replacing the delusions of gradeur.
What I call the bloated face of a drunk. I definitely see what you’re talking about.
Well, I think that they necessarily have to co-exist. Delusions are things we may believe in, but always we know (unless we are insane, and I don’t think Obama is) that reality is different, and will assert itself.
I think all his life, Obama has known…somewhere…that he is deluded.
Yikes! I’m listening to Teh One’s speech in Pensacola and he has declared war against the oil spill. “Unprecedented”, “biggest in history”, etc, etc…. And now he has segued into defeating Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Imagery by juxtaposition. What a buffoon. All populist rhetoric and zero solutions.
This is a broadside against the US economy. Word floating around Congress today is that Obama is going “nuclear” against BP by canceling all of their permits and contracts, essentially putting them out of business. Yet he expects a bankrupt company to pay all costs related to to the oil spill.
There is also growing fears that the drilling moratorium in US Gulf waters only will be extended indefinitely.
In other words, the worst catastrophe unfolding is the government-sponsored catastrophe that will permanently put hundreds of thousands of people out of work. That catastrophe
Riehl wrote exactly what I felt would happen to Bho after election. Bho has never done any job. He is a chain job seeker. His excuse for not doing his present job was that he was going after the next. He has never had to deliver on anything so he has no track record. No wonder he’s feeling insecure. For the first time in his adult life he has had to actually do a job and he can’t do it. He talked a good game, but that’s all there really is to this man. He has no connection to what made this country great. The machine which but him in charge with sell him out to save itself. I expect leakers and whistler blowers to appear in droves. This administration fears the truth more than anything and the truth is coming to get them.
A modest editorial suggestion…
As with others on this board, Riehl surmises that Obama wishes he could just vote “present”. I’d submit that he’s been doing just that for most of his “presidency” – hence the months of delay waiting for somebody else to do something.
If Obama had been in charge of 9/11:
1) Rescue teams would not be allowed to search for survivors until the EPA had completed an environmental survey of each site.
2) American Airlines and United Airlines would be responsible for the cleanup of Towers 1 and the Pentagon. The Shankstown site would have to be returned to its original state by United.
3) The FBI would be dispatched to the Middle East to find and arrest the planners of the attack.
4) Congress would pass a National Property tax to pay for the reinforcement of all private buildings over three stories tall to the new Federal Standard.
5) The President would castigate Israel for fanning the “justifiable hatred” that sparked the attacks.
6) The President would skip meeting with familiy members of the victims, so he could attend a political fund raiser for Chuck Schumer.
I’m with you on that Hitler parallel. Bho could well end up the same way – disgraced and suicidal.

You nailed that perfectly. The Sock Puppet regime let this get out of control deliberately to create a crisis and now all hell is going to break loose on our economy.
I still wonder how his advisors could have let him wait so long to respond to this crisis!! Who the heck is advising him??? He definitely needs keepers, and they are failing him. Are they trying to throw him under the bus??? That is a distinct possibility. He is pretty much a gaffe machine without the TOTUS. Maybe they are afraid he will blow their agenda and are laying the groundwork to get rid of him. I can’t think of any other reason why he is sitting there with his finger up his nose, letting our coastline be destroyed. There is SO MUCH he could have done that would have him looking like a hero right now!! How could he be so freakin’ dumb?? That picture (above) almost makes me feel sorry for him. He looks old, sad and alone. He is heading for a fall.
I’d still like to know what percentage of those out of work now in the Gulf voted for him…
txvet2:
Two things I’d couple to your observation:
1. His eye is turned elsewhere, and that is where his passions all reside…transforming America.
2. He has no leadership experience, and does not understand the processes. Delegation is not something he understands. His only experience comes from power and its exercise, and that is not leadership…something quite foreign to leadership in many cases.
The question I have is, can we survive this man for two more years? Will he so thoroughly destroy America in that time, with the eager cooperation of the Harry Reids and Nancy Pelosis, that it will be nearly impossible to get our country back?
I will back up a bit and say that “Tears of a Clown” is on an endless loop in his head.
…and how many will be stupid enough to vote Democrat in the future?
Glenn Beck pointed out that Soros is the big winner in the oil spill thing because if the rigs move from the Gulf to Brazil, then Soros will have manipulated Bho into expanding the very oil company in which Soros has a huge financial interest.
That BHO might easily “Out-Nixon” Nixon is not hard to imagine. The bloody fool thinks he is King Canute. I can just see him wading into the Gulf tide commanding the oil to stop!
We are in a mess that is not going to get better any time soon. Remember when Clinton was the most radical President we had ever had? Who thought we might look back on that fondly compared to this…
Tonight, Obama will use the oil spill as a pivot point into Cap and Trade. I expect it to contain an amnesty provision.
Off-topic…Rush is back today!!! I have been going through withdrawal for over a week. My husband knows if anyone interrupts my listening pleasure today from 11:00 to 2:00, they will die. Hubby is out mowing the lawn right now between showers…and I told him he’d better be careful because if he has an accident out there, he will have to wait until 2:00 to go to the hospital. Am I a rabid Rush fan? You be the judge!
All you have to do is look at one phrase, “NEVER LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE”!!! Case closed!!!
Not to quibble, War, but King Canute didn’t think he was who his subjects tried to make him. He had to show them in a rather noble display of humility, if I recall the story correctly.
Try to put THE ONE in that story…
9/11 meant nothing to Obama.
Think about what I just said and try, please try to deny it.
Mega Ditto’s Happyscrapper!
typical narcissism and some envy thrown in! I have become completely speechless with this guy. He is much more than a disgrace to this country, but everything this country was never to be!
speaking of EPA, Flyoverman, just where has Jackson been in all of this? I’ll bet all-the-president’s-cronies never thought they’d ever be required to do any work when they got their positions…
You know; just put the ID around the neck & go to the Hill or Georgetown shopping & liquid lunches.
Pasadena Phil said:
Green Economy, Cap and Tax, more taxes, punish the Oil Companies, we must learn a lesson from this gulf crisis and move away from evil oil, more incentives to buy battery cars, the list is endless –
I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Drudge:
He is going around Sir Slow Nobel Salazar? I am liking this Governor Jindal more all the time.
Obamas biggest problem is his ideology. Its unsupportable. Sure, he is intellectual and has thought it out thoroughly. That is why he is able to create a campagn based on those ideals and people buy into it and vote for him, support him, and follow him.
But when the rubber meets the road, those ideological policies fail. They do not work, have never worked, and never will work. Thats when the spin machine goes into high gear. Obama has invested years in creating a very good spin machine. With the help of the main stream media, he has a very effective propaganda machine. Writing his scripts in advance and putting it on the teleprompter to read works great as it keeps him focused and on topic.
When he doesn’t have the pre planning and has to think about all these things off the cuff, he is exposed. He then reverts to his Alynsky training which is to attack the opposition. He tries to turn the tables and accuse the accusers. He has been successful with this strategy and still enjoys some success due to the MSM support but it is beginning to wear thin on regular folks. Unfortunately, he still enjoys a 44% approval. That is incredible to me as he is such a buffoon and truly unqualified for President (of the US).
You can fool some of the people some of the time…
And then there is this:
“Obama to name oil recovery
‘czar’ in first Oval Office address”
What a surprise!!!!
King Canute Bambi ain’t. The Attitude w/ears is just one more Chicago street hustler.
Yes Ragspierre, you are correct. I image King Canute is just one more Dead White European Male in today’s etdukation scam.
I wonder if this will “isolate us from our allies and the world”?
The lack of experience isn’t just showing, it’s screaming for the world to see.
As a comment on the picture of Mr. Obama at the top of this article, he looks like a deer in the headlight or a gemsbock with a lioness upwind and a pack of hyenas behind it. In other words, he looks like prey, meat on the table, shark bait.
It’s obvious that he knows he’s so vastly out of his depth and can’t find a way out.
This strategy works best with those that covet, those who envy.
Mind you, they don’t want to work for it; they want yours.
‘They’ are the lowest class of human being. That’s how he got elected. Did you notice, during the campaign, that the dumbest people liked him? They couldn’t tell you why, in words. They just felt like he was gonna give them some of yours.
oooo, gemsbok.
ssnark, have you ever eaten one?

According to the National Oil And Hazardous Substances Contingency Plan Act Jackson has a MANDATE under law to form, direct, and field the National Response Team.
Again, I doubt she’s ever heard of this, since her priorities are headed by a drive to usurp power.
I heard a couple of them say things like: “Barack is going to pay my mortgage” and “Barack is going to put gas in my car”. Yes, they actually said it and truly believed it. Maybe because Obama told them he would.
And of course, many voted for him because of the color of his skin. In other words, based on his race.
Heres an idea, why doesn’t he tell the coastal folks that he will make BP pay for their gas for the next 5 years? Free gas to all those people affected. That will play upon the hate BP argument, and give away freebies that will garner him votes. Of course, he won’t be able to do it but he will be reelected by then so who cares.
Oh yeah, and blame the Tea Party. He needs his base after all.
I’ve had gemsbok in many forms. The biltong is lovely. I also had kudu the last time I visited. But do you know my favorite dish whilst there? Guinea fowl. I know-I know, I can get that here. But my mother in law cooked it so deliciously!
I stopped paying attention to this clown long ago, the 1st time I heard him talk. I could tell then he was a lying POS…but remember he is a democrat/Marxist, they have to lie, the truth will be their undoing.
Thanks AN! It is indeed traumatic when your job title changes mid-stride, but I’ll muddle through somehow.
The quote they used was a satirical exaggeration to highlight how ridiculous any comparison (even “echoes” about long-term after effects) of 9/11 to the Gulf spill are. I swear, if you told them a “knock knock” joke they’d actually get up to see who was at the door and blame Bush for tricking them after discovering nobody there.
I’m outta here… place to go, issues to misrepresent!
Rags, I think this
is giving her waaaay too much credit. Her drive is to be paid big bucks for a job she’s not qualified for, and doesn’t have to really work in so she can go to the hairdresser, manicurist and Popeye’s.
If Mr. Obama had been President on 9/11 he would have responded with healthcare, taxes, unionization, windmills and regulation of markets and corporations.
and a party in Gaza.
Would that were true, Spacey. She is very actively putting Crap’N Traitor in effect TOTALLY illegally into place.
Damn typing between phone calls….
Word from Fibs Gibbs is that Obama will appoint a czar to handle the Gulf response.
So he plans to do something ILLEGAL…
while ignoring the law already on the books that makes Lisa Jackson the point person here.
Now who do you trust to answer that 3:00 a.m. phone call?
The question that begs almost screams to be asked — This three ring circus of a Gov is going to be in charge of Health Care???? Holy jeez, it may be better off setting myself on fire and flinging myself into the mouth of a killer whale.
Orca smores…???
Seems to me Obeyme is perfectly happy with what’s happening in the Gulf. Someone NOT HIM will be blamed. He hates this country and everything it represents, and he is secretly laughing about the misery he has contributed to in these Southern states. ANY Southerner that votes for him again is a complete fool.

Wow that was brutal…… bought time.
Obama may well not be the Democrat candidate for Potus in 2012…I can’t imagine anyone in the DNC supporting him for the top spot. Let’s not get distracted by crises…that’s all they’ve got at the moment. Who will be the next big threat to American liberty?
We need to identify potential replacements, and take note of what they are saying, and what they are doing. The ammunition, come election time, may prove invaluable.
Can we pay the Russians to take Obama, Waxman and the rest of the Democrats to Siberia where they belong? They would be much happier there.

I’m not too partial to buffalo though I’ve had it. Guinea hen cooked in clay laid under the coals is also mighty good as you say. I wish it were still Rhodesia, I’d go back in a heartbeat.
Thank God he was not President in 2001. He would probably form an action committee to research how to respond (after the polls, of course).
More people at Justice like James Cole as a Deputy Attorney General, who thinks 9-11 was a simple criminal act, and who represented Saudi terrorist backers, and Obama may get another al Qaeda spectacular in America.
But I’d like to think though that a majority of Americans would recognize who, despite all his faults, had a good track record after September 11th, like GWB, and who tore down most of the structure built to prevent a reoccurence.
Donk presidents are always wishing for war, or something they can play-pretend war with.
Jimmy Carter 1.0 called his futile struggle against stagflation “The Moral Equivalent of War.”(TM)
Bubba Clinton wistfully remarked that he wished something like 9/11 had happened on his watch. As it is, he must content himself with the consolation prize of having set us up for it.
And now Jimmy Carter 2.0 — a.k.a., “Captain Kick-Ass” — is posturing in front of the mirror, no doubt doing his Patton-esque “War Face” while he prepares to give his latest “Greatest Speech Since the Gettysburg Address.”(TM)
I feel safer already. Don’t you?
