Although jobless claims are still rising — “unexpectedly” of course (which is always to be expected) — Joe Biden is going to come to a city near you this summer to give you the good news that an economy crippled in part by too many public sector jobs is being saved by cranking up the number of public sector jobs, and you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

BREAKING — OBAMA, BIDEN DECLARE “RECOVERY SUMMER”: Vice President Biden today will kick off “Recovery Summer,” a six-week-long push designed to highlight the jobs accompanying a surge in stimulus-funded projects to improve highways, parks, drinking water and other public works. Biden will present President Obama with a report laying out a spike in stimulus activity this summer, and how it will contribute to a steady climb to a total of 3.5 million Recovery Act jobs by the end of the year. Biden, Obama and other administration officials will travel to more than two dozen Recovery Act project sites in coming weeks. Tomorrow, the president will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to mark the groundbreaking of the 10,000th Recovery Act road project, around Nationwide Children’s Hospital. On Monday, Biden will travel to Midland, Mich., for the groundbreaking of the new Dow Kokam advanced battery manufacturing facility.

Every circus needs a clown. But at least Biden’s “Recovery Summer” travel will be a job creator all by itself, because the GAO estimates are that Biden’s tour will require the hiring of 150-200 full-time “bos taurus removal technicians and disposal specialists” (bulls*#t scoopers).

Biden is also expected to unveil a new stimulus sign to better reflect the Recovery Act:

Here in Michigan, the crowd at Biden’s appearance in Midland is expected to be huge — it’s not like the people living in the state governed by the genius of one of Obama’s economic advisors has anything better to do.

That’s the beauty of being unemployed — plenty of time to go hear a proud politician say how much better off you are now.

Update: Hopefully the Veep stops by Connecticut to see how $54 million in taxpayer money given to the Mohegan Sun Casino has helped restore a troubled casino industry that had been left for Dodd…I mean dead!.

That’s the beauty of being an American right now — you don’t even have to go to a casino to have your money gambled away for you.
