Just When You Thought You Couldn’t Be Prouder of Detroit…

You might remember Detroit School Board President Otis Mathis as the one with a severe problem with literacy (see: Detroyt Skool Bored Prezzident cant reed, rite or spel goode), but it never occurred to me to think that the reason Mathis’ emails were misspelled so badly might have been because he was typing with one hand:
DPS police were investigating allegations by schools Superintendent Teresa Gueyser that during a meeting at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, Mathis touched himself for 20 minutes, then unzipped his pants.
Gueyser, in a memorandum to the board, said she ended the meeting.
“I told him that there was no reason for us to continue the meeting with that behavior,” she said.
Gueyser said the incident was the culmination of a long history of inappropriate behavior.
“This situation is now untenable and intolerable,” she said.
Mathis resigned following the incident, effective immediately. In his resignation letter, he cited health issues as the reason for his resignation. However, he is seeking to rescind his resignation.
Naturally, the “medical issues” fallback is in play:
He said medical issues may have contributed to the incident. “I need to pursue treatment … I want to make sure what happened doesn’t ever happen again.”
So if Mathis gets treatment and is allowed to have his job back, it’s entirely possible he’ll have a “cone of shame” on his pants to prevent him from doing that again. Say nothing, act casual.
On the upside, a glance at Mathis’ resignation letter (PDF) is evidence that he was at least smart enough this time to get somebody to proofread for him.

Just like a first date, it’s always good to ‘take care of business’ before you leave the house. Same thing applies here. He should do that in the morning before work everyday, and then, like every other guy, he will be able to effectively interact with the opposite sex without being distracted.
Alernatively, he could just get married, have his sex drive destroyed by a wife from hell and then he would be fine going forward.

The stories of teachers having student “lovers” looks like a cutey burb, but their asses outtas beamed right out of school no questions asked! Maybe the Detroit Public School Board couldn’t afford to provide exercise equipment and a work-out room for staff employees, so in order to keep costs low and increase efficiency, he decided to exercise with his own equipment while at work during a meeting.
Now that would be a reasonable explanation to me.

This may sound racist, but I am going to state facts, not just opinion here. My daughters both went to a very nice suburban high school. My oldest daughter sailed through just fine. My youngest daughter is 7 years younger, and by the time she got into that school, they had just started a busing program from the inner city. By the time she was a senior, she was becoming increasingly fearful in the hallways. She said that there were gangs of black and asians who gathered in the halls and wouldn’t let anyone pass, making them late for class. They also made implied threats. She was on the dance team and practiced after school. When I would pick her up, I had to sit and wait while gangs of minorities wandered around my car, some throwing basketballs at it. There were no adults outside policing the activities and I always felt pretty vulnerable.
I did call the school…numerous times, and they always assured me they were disciplining those kids. Well, if so, it didn’t work.
I NEVER encountered this stuff when I was in school, nor did my oldest daughter. So there is only once conclusion we can draw. These gangs were bused in and then allowed to run wild. Discipline went out the window and the decent, hard-working students suffered for it.
This is just NOT acceptable in this country. If people can’t be held accountable for their actions, we are sunk. These gangs should have been broken up, some arrests made, and perhaps the busing stopped until the students were told the rules and the rules would be enforced!!
Sorry for the rant, but every time I think about my daughter’s last year of H.S., I just see red!! Were the teachers and school board intimidated by these people? Of course. And political correctness didn’t allow them to discipline anyone.
This is going to get worse, folks. Much worse…until we stand up for WHAT IS RIGHT!! We must stop allowing these cretins to get a pass on disgusting behavior.
Hold them accountable, lock them in cages if we have to, but we must take back our schools, our cities and our country.

I do so agree with you. so many of our cities are being taken over by gangs.
They are treated like children that have been a little “naughty”. These kids are ADULT, they are old enough to threaten, to rape, to steal, and kill. They need to be treated as an invading army.

I live in Northern California, and I don’t. With the recent spate of local daytime home invasion robberies (yet unsolved), and mandatory prison releases, I don’t answer the door anymore, without having my .45 Auto in hand.

Mr. Mathis is part of the protected class. It seems while the Dems/Libs were screaming about this country becoming like “Big Brother” in Orwell’s 1984 under “Boosh”, they seem to have no problem with Obama wanting to do the same and add in the some “pigs” are more equal than others syndrome in “Animal Farm”.
Happysrapper is basically correct, but it’s the enablers who allow the behavior to be ignored or exempted because of “disadvantages”,which in turn is giving us the kaos in many urban and now suburban settings. Because there is no punishment for bad behavior, because of perceived disadvantages, many inner city neighborhoods are becoming little anarchies.
In Baltimore there are roving gangs of inner city youths on dirtbikes breaking traffic laws and causing accidents. To the point the dirtbikers have beat up the drivers that him them or one of their own when they were the cause of the accident. The city is trying to “accomodate” the youths. The Balto. City Police’s answer is a no chase policy and they leave them alone.
This is only one problem of many and we wonder why a school board president is pleasuring himself in in the middle of a meeting. No one ever taught this ignoramus manners and proper behavior. He has a need or want and decides to take care of it, because he is entitled.
Ironically. in the DC area several years back, there was a judge who would pleasure himself during court proceedings. He was removed from the bench eventually.

Not sure I have the connection to viscous lidocaine. The cause can indeed be neurological. And it can be a symptom of that life threatening neurological feed back loop folks with spinal cord injuries can experience, autonomic dysreflexia.
BUT the emergency is needing to relieve the pressure so blood can flow through the organ.
And by the way matty, did you make it into recovery or just detox?

Don’t know. Worked on spinal cord injury floor and would do all the normal stuff looking for stimulus that could be part of the problem, foley cath if needed, meds, etc., don’t recall ever doing any kind of spinal stimulation.
Regardless of the cause if the thing is stuck on high, removing the blood or surgery is common response. Can be any number of causes. The emergency however is the circulation being cut off.

Me too. Not all who were in the military during the Vietnam War went to Vietnam. Could have, would have, didn’t.
