Obama Announces Dad Fund: Because Some Things You Can’t Put a Price Tag On, But Fatherhood Ain’t One of ‘Em
**Written by guest-blogger Doug Powers
Nothing’s more inspiring to a child than a dad who’s only sticking around for some Obama bucks:
President Barack Obama announced a new fatherhood and families fund at an event in Washington, D.C., on Monday to celebrate Fathers Day.
The fund is part of a nationwide fatherhood initiative that the president said is designed to raise awareness about the importance of fatherhood and help absent fathers re-engage with their families.
[...]
“Nothing in life compares” to being Sasha and Malia’s father, he said. “You don’t need a fancy degree for that. You don’t need a lot of money for that.”
You may not need a fancy degree or a lot of money to be a good father, but you do need a lot of money for Obama’s new fatherhood and families fund. How much? Oh, about $500 million:
The Budget also includes $500 million for a new Fatherhood, Marriage, and Families Innovation Fund. The fund will provide competitive grants to States to conduct and rigorously evaluate comprehensive responsible fatherhood programs, including those that incorporate healthy marriage components and demonstrations geared towards improving child outcomes by improving outcomes for custodial parents with serious barriers to self sufficiency as a mechanism for improving outcomes for children in these families.
What!? I don’t trust a sentence that uses the word “outcomes” three times. The more they distribute “outcome,” the more they redistribute “income.”
And of course, with any new wonderful government flush-fund comes the inevitable dot-gov website: Fatherhood.gov — the “National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse.” Are we promoting fatherhood or selling fly swatters & yo-yos? We can also be reasonably certain that the SEIU has graciously stepped forward to accept part of this funding in order to organize a dad’s union.
I’m assuming that Obama changing his pro-abortion stance so more people have a crack at being a dad is not an option.
There’s a good reason politicians should stay out of the father mentoring business — because before long the average dad would be opening credit cards in his daughter’s name, racking up insurmountable debt to teach fiscal responsibility, teaching the kids how to cheat on taxes, blaming Bush for his son’s inability to catch a baseball and resigning from fatherhood in disgrace after getting caught boinking Junior’s babysitter.
Hopefully this fund does have some impact in helping at least one man hear the seven sweetest words a father can hear from his child: Have you plugged the hole yet, daddy?

NO!vember
If the objective is to encourage individuals to be good fathers, the government could best do this by declaring a “war on good fathers”.
Back in the 70′s, I made a living, (of sorts) by going into people’s homes & taking their babies away from them. None had any sort of positive father figure in the home, or in the lives of the kids. Even in those days, we didn’t need a fund to know that a (decent) man in the house is essential. This fund is just another sample of government sticking it’s bloated & empty rules ever deeper into our lives.
How about a meaningful fatherhood initiative like, say, REAL welfare reform?
Nah, I can’t see that happening anytime soon. I guess I must be thinking about a world with common sense, not the one I’m living in now.
Maybe next the gubbamint can come up with a set of 10 basic rules for living, stuff like not lying, murdering, cheating on your wife, or being greedy.
Uh… doesn’t this guy realize that the Government is broke?
Kid: “Who cares who my Daddy is, I gots me sum munny!”
Didn’t we see this movie long long long ago — like the Making of Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn and Far Rockaway NY and Newburg NY??
Responsibility doesn’t cost a cent. Irresponsibility costs a fortune.

aka, the “whooz ya daddy initiative”.
Why do I see this intiative encouraging these “fathers” coming around there kids one day a month….you know the day the check shows up in the mail.
Obama = HISTORIC EPIC FAIL
Dittos.
I fell asleep watching George Orwell’s “1984″ last night. When I woke up, the movie was still going, but I thought I was watching the news.
Obeyme has now gone from the ridiculous to the sublime. Stop–I want to get off!
The tyranny of the left just makes me more radical with each passing day.
If the far left were removed from influence I would probably be a moderate.
Ma Ma
Where’s my Pa?
Statesville Prison
Ha Ha Ha
And now Fatherhood is a gubmint program-like there isn’t a shortage already. Damn Bambi-just play golf or basketball and stop doing things. If I were to suggest that gays and lesbians as parents sucks would I be guilty of homophobia?
Of course he does. But the liberal way is to the economically productives’ money and shove it in the bottomless pit of social problems that can’t be solved economically thus creating and continuing further dependency on the government masters, which too many people are getting comfortably accustomed to.
The overall goal is to quickly drive the nation so far into debt it will implode, we loose all of our savings and investments and, having nothing left, become subservient to our government lords and masters as well.
MMMmmmm….MMMMmmmm…MMMMmmmm
Obama going to write me a check
MMMmmmm….MMMMmmmm…MMMMmmmm
So Obama wants money for new useless programs while also demanding billions for continuation of state labor union giveaway programs.
Obama is the little 2yr old child that simply needs to be told, no.
Also in this into the link to part of the HHS budget
$500 million:
Is a program to redistribute money, 5.3 billion or so, to people to pay for heating and cooling.
Is it any wonder that people simply quit working and suck money up from all of these absurd government handout programs? Why would ANYONE with limited skills bother to do anything more than fill out government paperwork?
WELFARE, WELFARE, WELFARE! Why them women get all dat gubmint cheese? We needs some o dat obama stash too.
No, he wants money for a new campaign slush fund to buy voters.
Welfare reform will be the best thing for Fatherhood because…….
A single mother gets more money.
Boyfriend lives off the mother’s government money.
Need more money, crank out another kid.
If the boyfriend needs more money, get more girlfriends on welfare.
How about giving father’s a fair shake in divorce and custody battles?
Also why does Obama have a FATHER penalty in his definition of “RICH”? 250K for a TWO earner family, and 400K for TWO one earner families. He is thus penalizing married FATHERS up to 150K of income for his TAX increases.
The roller coaster from hell. Hopefully November will put the skids on the insanity.
Is there a double bonus for two-father families?
Obama needed more cash for his stash. So, he is putting another 900 billion in US Treasuries out and just printing more. We are so screwed and unfortunately NO!vember (like that one) isn’t going to change much. I haven’t seen that many Repubs with enough guts to stand up to Obama and the press.
This whole thing is going to crash and when it does it won’t be pretty. Obama’s minions aren’t going to get their fair share of his stash and they will rampage.
Lessee…
whem you subsidize something, you get more of it…
So, is Obama subsidizing fatherhood, or baby-making….
Yo! Toilet…catch!
And without fathers – where would Planned Parenthood be?
Big Brother…get out of my daddy’s face!!
Is there NOTHING that the government will just leave the hell alone??? These people disgust me to the core.
Sorry, Barry, a government program wouldn’t have kept your no-good pops around.
Hmmm me thinks that this program will result in much outcome, mostly from our wallets
And he was sort of a drunk one man government womanizing program on one leg.
BTW, is this over-the-top around here?
Who determines what a good father is?
Can men in prison have thems girlsfriends bring in da brats and get em a check?
Is there an income limit to a “good father”?
How much money will find its way to Chicago? Harry Reid? Al Gore? (Harry Reid? Sure, why not?)
When it is all said and done, will the outcome show minorities are better fathers because they received more money?
I don’t see that Fathers get this money. The people that get the money are just community organizers. They organize Father promoting things and advise people in the community how to be good fathers.
Tell me again why government has to do this? Especially when the government doesn’t have the money to do so.
Did you see where California violated their constitution by not giving the governator a budget by the deadline? They can’t cut any more programs like these. They need to raise more revenue to pay for these silly programs and more. Now Obama want to follow the failed model. Idiots.
Give deadbeat dads gubmint money, and watch the street value of nose candy and ice skyrocket.
Isn’t that called welfare?
Yeah, they originally tried ‘financially challenged’.
I am waiting for the Obama Intercourse Encouragement Fund to be introduced.
The tax-paying wealth producers are the looting-moochers’ baby’s daddy.
Hey Barry! Why don’t you jusr kinda rethink AFDC? (Aid to Families with Dependent Children) You genius democrats made it available only to housholds with no father – and the more babys the poor ladies make the bigger the jackpot they cash in! Incentivizing unwed motherhood. How very progressive. Idiots.
And for IEF Czar Obama has the perfect cadidate, one who would be delighted to make a quick a career change.
Great, another pot of money to be administered by a lot of fabricated and useless inner-city non-profit organization that will be formed to profit from this nonsense.
My guess is that each state will end up having an organization operating out of its capital or the largest city in the state, with satellite offices in each of the state’s major cities.
My proposal for names: BABYDADDY-CORN (CA) (California), BABYDADDY-CORN (IL) (Illinois), BABYDADDY-CORN (MI) (Michigan), and so on.
Can Indiana be HOOSIER DADDY?
aren’t some of these kids better off with absent fathers, then dead beat present dads that could be abusive and are only around for a handout from uncle sam?
This is just sad.
Its SNL parody as policy.
Liberals are always about raising awareness for a problem. That usually means they expect to do the heavy lifting to solve the problem while they do the managerial tasks (like raising awareness, taxing and spending). If Obama really wanted to raise awareness and motivate people he could have done so without spending a cent. Just get on his bully pulpit and harangue deadbeat dads and and the inner city welfare culture in no uncertain terms. This would not be very popular with his deadbeat voters or create a new govt program but just might actually make a difference. Which is why it will never happen
Money isn’t the problem. The problem is that we need more males to act like men in this country of ours. If there were more men, we wouldn’t have girls out fighting our wars. If there were more men, we wouldn’t have the leadership void we currently have among the political parties. If there were more men, we wouldn’t have the education problems we have, because they would take ownership of the education of their children away from the state. If there were more men, we would not have the problems we do in the church, for they would be their own family’s shepherd first and foremost. If there were more men, we wouldn’t have such a screwed up culture, for they are the guardians of it. If there were more men, we wouldn’t have as many broken homes and marriages, for they take responsibility for them. If there were more men, we wouldn’t have so many derelict children, for they would truly be fathers. People want to celebrate fatherhood? Fine. Start by exhorting more men to act like men.
Any question as to who he’s addressing this message to? Hint: Most of them are into misogynistic rap and hip-hop.
From Clinton’s proclamation for Fathers Day 2000: “This year, in recognition of Father’s Day, I am directing the Department of Health and Human Services, along with certain other Federal agencies, to develop guidance for State and local governments, community providers, and families on Federal resources that are available to promote responsible fatherhood.”
No idea how much was spent on that. Liberals only know one solution to every problem: a combination of money and government.
Send_Me #53: Your point is well taken and meaningful. I blame many a woman for where men find themselves today. Women have emasculated men, they have demeaned and degraded them. Just look at TV and you will see that all women are in charge. Yeah, like just. Ladies, there are certain jobs men just are better at doing, whether you like or agree or not. Men have always done the heavy lifting and you know it. So, climb down off your high horse and start appreciating their strengths.
You want men in women’s lives, then get the government out women’s lives.
Ever since the great society of LBJ, the federal government has been out to destroy the nuclear family and get men out of womens lives.
Why do we reward women that have babies out of wedlock?
Why do we classify women as a minority group when they comprise 58% of the population?
Why does the Federal Government discriminate against white males in its hiring policies?
Why does the Federal Government discriminate against men in College education programs?
There is a war against men in this country especially white males. Until the Feds stop this illegal discrimination, do not think that marriage will make a come back the US Government is doing every thing it can to destroy the traditional nuclear family.
I urge everyone that doubts me to look at the statistics at adversity.net
Are you serious? It is all the men in the worlds fault?
