Next open-borders/DOJ target: Fremont, Nebraska; Update: Holder to file AZ suit next week

Scroll for updates…

The lawsuits are already in the works. Every town, every state that rises up against immigration chaos and takes enforcement into its own hands must be punished, if the open-borders lobby and White House have their way.

Fremont, Nebraska, here they come:

This small Nebraska meatpacking town has joined Arizona at the center of a national debate about illegal immigration after voters approved a ban on hiring or renting property to illegal immigrants, but an expected court challenge could keep the measure from ever taking effect.

The American Civil Liberties Union already has promised to file a lawsuit to block enforcement of the proposal roughly 57 percent of Fremont voters supported Monday.

“In a community of 25,000, it’s going to be hard to take on the whole country, and it will be costly to do so,” said Fremont City Councilman Scott Getzschman, who opposed the measure but said city leaders would support the results.

Fremont’s vote is the latest chapter in the tumult over illegal immigration across the country, including a recently passed Arizona law that will require police investigating another incident or crime to ask people about their immigration status if there’s a “reasonable suspicion” they are in the country illegally.

The Fremont measure will require would-be renters to apply for a license from the city. Officials must refuse to issue a license to applicants found to be in the country illegally. The ordinance also requires businesses to use the federal E-Verify database to ensure employees are allowed to work.

Citizens in Washington state are collecting signatures to put E-Verify on the ballot there.

The revolt continues.

I also hope towns and cities across America pass ordanances like this. Will the politicians take note, listen, and get tough on illegal immigration? Of course they won’t. They don’t listen on anything else.

However, if hundreds of cities and towns pass local ordanances like Freemont’s it can force the ACLU and DOJ to fight them all. Overwhelm THEIR system for a change. Bleed them white.

Its like a form of “civil disobedience” that has worked in the past.

I’m still trying to figure out why it’s my job as an employer to ensure (at not trivial cost) the person is here legally. Further, if I hire them, we can determine by the severity of the penalties handed down, it appears that my offense is worse then the original offense of them coming here illegally in the first place. If the feds did their job, the person wouldn’t be here and I wouldn’t be potentially always in trouble. (Everybody who works here is here legally). Further, it’s my job as an employer to make sure every one of the employees has the proper amount of taxes withheld at zero compensation to me for doing the government’s job. I’m responsible to make sure that any materials we use are also here legally. So what I conclude – the government is only good at forcing to get me to do their work. If I fail, I’m liable, but if they fail – well just ask them, they don’t fail.

    I don’t know about that.

In the case of Crandell vs Nevada (73 US 35), Mr. Crandell owned a stagecoach line. Nevada taxed each person leaving the state 1 dollar. Crandell sued and won his case in front of the Supreme Court. However, Mr. Crandell never appeared. His claim was that he couldn’t afford to pay the tax!

Brilliant strategy. Maybe these cities and other localities should take the same course when the ACLU Nazis sue them. Have a lawyer show up, but never a representative of the city/locality and claim the ACLU suit has cost them too much.

In some form, it may work.

White House officials declined to comment publicly Tuesday morning, but the latest public relations blunder by McChrystal was viewed as sure to further strain his relationship with a president who puts a premium on message discipline and loyalty.

The timing of the piece could hardly be worse. Amid a flurry of bad news in Afghanistan and a jump in NATO casualties, U.S. lawmakers and senior officials from NATO allied countries are asking increasingly sharp questions about the U.S.-led war strategy.

Dutch and Canadian troops are scheduled to pull out within the next year. And the White House has said it will start drawing down U.S. forces next July.

(Photos of recent troop activities in Kandahar, Afghanistan)

The magazine story shows that McChrystal is also facing criticism from some of his own troops, who have grown frustrated with new rules that force commanders be extraordinarily judicious in using lethal force.

A few weeks ago, according to the magazine, the general traveled to a small outpost in Kandahar province, in southern Afghanistan, to meet with a unit of soldiers reeling from the loss of a comrade, 23-year-old Cpl. Michael Ingram.

The corporal was killed in a booby-trapped house that some of the unit’s commanders had unsuccessfully sought permission to blow up.

One soldier at the outpost showed Hastings, who was traveling with the general, a written directive instructing troops to “patrol only in areas that you are reasonably certain that you will not have to defend yourself with lethal force.”

During a tense meeting with Ingram’s platoon, one sergeant tells McChrystal: “Sir, some of the guys here, sir, think we’re losing, sir.”

Obama/Biden: Si se pueda! Cut and run losers. Giving away Iraq and Afghanistan, and now the entire SW United States. Lovely. Leave the defense of America to Arizona, Texas, and small townships in Nebraska. Losers.

There is no right to cheap labor in the US. There is a requirement — already in Federal law — that requires non-nationals to acquire permission before being able to hold a job here.

If a business owner builds a business upon dubious or questionable labor, shouldn’t they be required to suffer for the lack of foresight or carelessness? And… by tolerating illegal employment this places law abiding employers at a competitive disadvantage.

The ordinance also requires businesses to use the federal E-Verify database to ensure employees are allowed to work.

The last time Amnesty was passed, in 1986, it came along with a new law:

All employees, citizens and noncitizens, hired after November 6, 1986 and working in the United States must complete a Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.

Anyone who has started a new job in the last 23+ years has been legally required, by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, to fill out an I-9 form and supply the necessary hardcopy documentation.

How about enforcing current Federal Immigration Law that has been on the books for over 23 years?

You will note that that law does not make any exception for any employee. There is no exception for President.

Where is Obama’s I-9 Form? If he has not submitted an I-9, along with the necessary hardcopy documentation, then he is violation of Federal Immigration Law.

The ordinance also requires businesses to use the federal E-Verify database to ensure employees are allowed to work.

I stand corrected. You are right, we need to demand this and tell the elected this is a major point for our voting for them. These illegal aliens are costing us billions a year for them to be here in welfare, housing, schools, food, and health care.

And what do the owners of the meat packing companies think of this ordinance? In all likelihood they will loose a fair amount of their inexpensive workforce.

Wasn’t that Simon Legree’s argument? Yes indeed this “inexpensive workforce” drives down all blue collar wages, ads to crime, welfare and school expenses but your hero Simon Legree did well for awhile-keep off the ice ;)

If Obumbo’s debt commission recommends and Obumbo and the congress pass into law a VAT sometime after the November elections, all tax consumers will suddenly become tax payers. I don’t like the idea of a VAT, but we can sure use more people pushing the wagon instead of sitting on it.

This defies logic. The gov has ignored its responsibility outlined by the Constitution to protect the American public to pander for votes to maintain the current power grab. Holder wants to win a court case by violating the Constitution again. At what point can we prosecute the members of this administration for crimes against the American public? Where is the line that gets crossed? Voting them out of office just isn’t enough.

Megyn Kelly/Fox News just broke the story that Mexico is going to sue our gubmint over the AZ law. That is more b#lls than I’ve ever seen before. With a nutty judge who can imagine where this thing could go?

I swear on my Bible – I will not ever step foot again in Mexico, nor will I ever purchase another item from Mexico, I will do everything I can to discourage others from doing so, and any commercial business I walk into where there is an employee with an accent I’m leaving. Could some of those be legal immigrants. Heck yea, and too bad. I’m done with Mexico’s push/shove against my country and it’s citizens.

Turnabout is fair play. Howz about the states suing Mexico for the cost of the welfare, healthcare, other state benefits & the costs of imprisoning Mexican citizens who are in the country illegally?

Unlikely the states will do that. However, what about a group of U.S. tax payers filing a similar suit against Mexico as a class action suit? Anyone with a legal background care to let me know if that is possible?

MSM = State Run Media – The new American Pravda.

By the way has anyone heard about the possible endrun TEH WON may do? If Congress fails to get amnesty through, TEH WONE may issue an executive order granting blanket amnesty for 15-20 million new Democrat voters and then deal with the fallout.

I worry about our president sometimes. He dances close to the line where some may decide that constitutional government must be restored by any means necessary.
