The threat of illegal alien amnesty-by-executive order

NumbersUSA posted a letter on Monday from GOP Sen. Grassley and seven other Republican Senators challenging the White House on rumors of illegal alien-amnesty-by-executive order. The gist of it:
We understand that there’s a push for your Administration to develop a plan to unilaterally extend either deferred action or parole to millions of illegal aliens in the United States. We understand that the Administration may include aliens who have willfully overstayed their visas or filed for benefits knowing that they will not be eligible for a status for years to come. We understand that deferred action and parole are discretionary actions reserved for individual cases that present unusual, emergent or humanitarian circumstances. Deferred action and parole were not intended to be used to confer a status or offer protection to large groups of illegal aliens, even if the agency claims that they look at each case on a “case-by-case” basis.
While we agree our immigration laws need to be fixed, we are deeply concerned about the potential expansion of deferred action or parole for a large illegal alien population. While deferred action and parole are Executive Branch authorities, they should not be used to circumvent Congress’ constitutional authority to legislate immigration policy, particularly as it relates to the illegal population in the United States.
This administration has accomplished its major policy agenda items through force, fiat, and fraud. Immigration will be no different.
More to the point, as I’ve reported many times and in-depth in my blog posts, colum ns, and books, open-borders activists and open-borders politicians have accomplished illegal alien amnesty-by-special order with almost no grass-roots resistance for years.
Both the Bush and Obama administrations support non-enforcement orders on deportation.
Both Republicans and Democrats have sponsored “special relief” bills to grant amnesty to illegal alien criminals. Remember:
How Congress gives special relief to convicted murderers, smugglers, and other alien law-breakers
By Michelle Malkin • June 11, 2007 01:00 PMAre you aware that deportable aliens can circumvent immigration laws with the help of your member of Congress? Are you aware that more than 50 bills have been introduced in Congress this year that would grant special, private relief to individual immigrants fighting deportation? It’s instant amnesty through special legislation. And it’s been happening for years under the radar. Past and present beneficiaries have included smugglers, illegal aliens, and now a convicted murderer wanted in his home country for engaging in terrorist activity and participating in an assassination plot that left a prime minister and dozens of his family members dead.
Both political parties remain clueless or indifferent to the deportation abyss that affords illegal aliens countless appeals and de facto, endless amnesty.
As I first pointed out in Invasion eight years ago, comprehensive immigration ENFORCEMENT reform won’t come from Washington until Americans outside the Beltway start doing it themselves.
The revolt is well underway.

As Naked Emperor News highlights in 2004 video, Obama has openly advocated trading border security for amnesty. He’s not the only one in Washington to embrace this feckless trade-off:

@ 24Klady
I see it as 5-to-4(“lefty”).
Or, do you disagree?
Totally agree with you Lockstein…
Not going to improve any time soon either.
I’m trying to think of any policy or agenda accomplishment that this Administration has achieved through honest and open debate.
However, I can think of two accomplishments that Obama achieved by simply unsealing the divorce files belonging to his political opponents in Chicago.
Whatta’ guy.
I said at the time of his inauguration that he would use foreign nationals to make himself President For Life.
What about the 22nd Amendment?
If Article II sec. 1 does not apply to him, why should the 22nd?
When you do not uphold the Constitution, you forfeit it.
Swearing in an ineligible man wasn’t such a great idea, now was it?
By the way. I believe that when Obama and Emanuel see letters like this from Congress or governors, they are both laughing their a$$es off as they read it.
Really. What in these letters could possibly make Obama rethink any grand plan he may have.
We know he is hell bent on amnesty and open borders and if he can’t get it passed through both houses, he WILL use whatever tricks or schemes he has to in order to get his hispanic voting bloc registered by November. Certainly, before 2012. It’s precisely what he did with Obama Care…. that would be strong arm the CBO with Orszag’s (sp) help so he could lie about the deficit element of his bill. And he WILL do whatever he has to the ram this down America’s throat. ObamaCare proved to him that he can do whatever he wants.
And to add fuel to the fire, read this…
Obama’s machine intended to destroy America is running on all cylinders. And he’s using our money to get it done.
Yes, Barry could try it, but he’ll have a hell of constitutional fight on his hands. Executive Orders are there to enforce the constitutional laws of this Land, not create new laws at Obama’s whim…
)5:25 PDT. Just watched a news clip of Mayor Blumberg and Ruphert Murdock trying to sell amnesty to the U.S. public. Pathetic display of birds of a feataher; the leader of a failed city and a failed news organization.
I think this is the fourth amnesty I have seen in my life-all with the promise that this will be the last one and NOW they can secure the border-and every one of those promises was broken-one of their constant arguments: who will cut your lawn, clean your house and build your homes?
I venture a guess that millions of Americans use to make a living cutting lawns, cleaning houses and in construction before the low wage whores got so clever. Think Lindsay Graham. Obama is big on the Executive Orders but other Presidents did nearly as much by refusing to enforce the laws. That would be presidents more than willing to put us is jail for challenging laws they favor. The GOP may be in shock but all too many of them are Whores.
Many millions of those who voted for Big Ears will be the very people whose wages are further driven down by this new wave of illegals, and entirely too blind to see it.
And I repeat myself – What CAN we do about it???????
Lots of talk about impeachment – it ain’t gonna happen. Revolution – read what the Gov did to the Indians. Wait till November? It will be too late.
So what can we do? Anyone?
I would expect Obama to try it since doing things this way is his nature.
What would be disappointing to me – if it hadn’t become GOP biz as usual – is the self-titled “conservatives” suddenly show concern about foreign nationals violating our laws. e.g. Kyl making a little noise now hoping people will forget he was a leader of the McCain-Kennedy Amnesty 2007 gang.
There is absolutely no objective justification for amnesty. Every argument in favor of the presence of illegal aliens is bunk
Babbledabble #118: What we can do for now (emphasis for now) is to scream like banshees to anyone who will listen. Get involved in a Tea Party, go out and protest, flood email and faxes to your reps (I know, their not really interested). We have been too silent, too long and it has cost us dearly. The anti-war protestors of the Vietnam era were influential (I realize they had a lot of help from the commie liberal media)and changed the mood of the country. But politicians are nothing, if not greedy power hungry b-strds-they will hear the noise and maybe, just maybe, do the right thing. Keep yelling!
