Democrat Rep. Corrine Brown gets a taste of her own sandbagging medicine

You’ll love this. Remember back in August 2008, when Democrat Rep. Corrine Brown commanded Jacksonville FL city officials to deliver sandbags to her home to protect her from rising floodwaters caused by Tropical Storm Fay? I blogged about the Jacksonville Times-Union story at the time:
U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown’s office asked Mayor John Peyton’s chief of staff to help protect her Jacksonville home from rising floodwater Friday.
Adam Hollingsworth, who once worked for Brown, told city workers to deliver sandbags to her home, something he now says was a judgment error. No one else would get such preferential treatment, he said when contacted by the Times-Union, and Brown will be billed by the city for reimbursement.
Hollingsworth also told city workers to deliver sandbags to City Councilwoman Denise Lee, this time unsolicited.
Peyton did not condemn Hollingworth’s actions, saying Friday he was “delighted our public works employees were able to help save these homes.”
Ronnie Simmons, Brown’s chief of staff, said the congresswoman’s area director called the city’s Public Works Office and asked for help. He said he thought the city offered sandbags to residents whose homes were being flooded.
…About a dozen white sandbags were stacked in front of Brown’s garage Friday night. A man outside the house Friday night told the Times-Union the bags were not delivered by the city. He was wearing a dark blue Emergency Operations Center shirt but said he didn’t work for the city.
Well, residents there have not forgotten her arrogance and abuse of office. And neither has her GOP challenger, Dean Black. He has launched a humorous “Stop the Sandbagging” campaign to remind voters of Brown’s hubris. She’s not laughing:
One day after her political opponent launched a tongue-in-cheek campaign to unseat her, Rep. Corrine Brown fired back.
Dean Black launched a campaign Monday called “Stop the Sandbagging.” It’s a campaign that reminded voters of an August 2008 controversy when Brown requested sand bags be brought to her home during Tropical Storm Fay. Though she denied receiving special treatment from the city, her neighbors said similar requests from them had no response.
Black said that when his supporters contribute $24.95 to his campaign, he will have sand bags delivered to Brown’s home. However, Brown said Tuesday that she will seek prosecution if Black follows through on his pledge.
“Because this is not no game,” Brown said. “Don’t bring no trash to my yard!”
She said if the sand bags come, she is prepared to call the police.
Black is not backing down. Two thumbs up for this clever and inspired campaigning.
Congresswoman Sandbag has gotten a taste of her own medicine.

Great move on Black’s part! I’m not sure sending sandbags is a good idea though.
L
I don’t know…won’t too many sandbags on one lot cause it to tip over and capsize into the ocean?
Sounds like Brown likes playing games and for some reason wants trash on her yard? Psycho!
Holy moley. No wonder they don’t read the laws they pass: they can’t.
Doesn’t that happen any time she comes home…???
FruNobulux nailed it…
“Don’t bring no”?? Is she kidding?
Instead of sandbags, somebody send the representative to Remedial English class.
Sooo…this IS a game and we CAN bring trash to her home? I’m taking her at her word, after all.
This is not no game??? Good grief. Maybe there should be an intelligence test required for public office. I mean, minimally, the equivalent of a fifth grade education…from a decent school that doesn’t pass everyone.
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet
By the way, we’re all RACISTS.
I lived in Jax for 20 years and remember this incident well. Entitlement whores Lee and Brown are well known for their outlandish behaviour and Sharpton-esque shakedowns. I’m still amazed she suffered no repercussions from $50,000+ in gratuities she and her daughter received from an African businessman. BTW, young Peyton is a classic RINO Republican.
Hey man, that ain’t not nothing. There are many minority teachers in DuVal county (Jax) who are functionally illiterate. One I know of in particular was a 30-year veteran who literally could not read or write and had friends take certification exams for her. If it happens there, can you imagine places like Philly, Chicago and NYC?
Easy for him to avoid prosecution just send them via the USPS.
Public school education?
How about we send her an English book instead and send the sand bags to the Gulf Coast, where Obummer is blocking states efforts to protect themselves from the oil slick.
Ditto the above. A fine example of our public school edumacashun, and a fine example of our black citizenry and their choice in elected officials. You be black, I’s be votin fo you. Now gimme some o dat gubmint cheese.
What about Hank Johnson and his fear that Guam will flip over? This isn’t really funny. We have people in public office who aren’t smart enough to find their way our of an open paper bag with a flashlight and a map.
Affirmative action and PC politics will be our death.
Interesting news:
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/105013-pelosi-asks-for-donations-to-fend-off-gop-investigations
How did she manage to fill out the form to run for office? Doesn’t the position require at least a working understanding of the English language? It looks like the people in her district have bigger problems than preferential sand bag treatment. Good grief.
Oh yes it are!
Or maybe, Oh yes it be!
Not so much interesting as loathsome.
HAHAHAHAHA….. Stop it. I can’t see for all the tears….
If only some conservative activists would start a billboard campaign with these quotes, maybe Democrats would get their first taste of edjewmacashun and actually vote for an intelligent representative.
But not if you be a Rethuglican ,only if you be a DEMONcrat handin’ out Uncle Suga’s or Brotha’ Barack’s stash in da hood.
And it’s not just public school edumacashun, its stupidifyin’ indoctranashun.
OK, stop it right now! Don’t you bigots know that standardized tests are just another way for the man to keep minorities down? You all should be ashamed of yourselves, expecting a congressperson to speak a foreign language. How many of you can speak Ebonics, for Pete’s sake?
Find the least educated Districts in Congress.
Find the highest crime rate, districts in Congress.
Find the highest teen pregnancy districts in Congress.
Find the highest high school drop out rates in Congress.
District is Blue, sucking from the taxpayer and likely to stay blue forever.
This is what uneducated dependent people vote for.
Let me guess, she went to school in Detroit.
If she was a capitalist she could put a sign in her yard – “Sand Bags – CHEAP!”
Or yodafied “It be, oh yes!”
A long time ago in a race for a state legislature, the challenger ran ads showing correction officers with bloodhounds, looking for the incumbent. They went everywhere, even into the state assembly chambers, with the dogs sniffing around. But they never found him.
You see, the incumbent was absent so often and rarely voted. Great ads and the challenger won.
This is more of the same. Just keep hammering and eventually the nail gets driven down all the way.
Are you kidding? She’s too stupid to figure that out. Besides, she’d probably charge $1,000 for each one thinking it would be a good way to raise funds.
What Black should do is to cut the bottom out of the bags first. Brown would still try to sell them, though. She’d claim they’re better than regular sandbags because you can fill them from either side!
Rogue Chedder and Granite! You three jus’ ain’t got no idea! Yer RAAAACIST!
I can’t speak a word of it. Can’t even understand a word of it.

- Curly (SO LONG, MR. CHUMPS, 1941)
off topic but interesting:
I wonder how many people in the district in question will mistakenly “vote for the Black guy”…???
I love irony…
So… this IS a game and she WANTS trash in her yard.
Well, for the former all she has to do is go stand in front of her house…
This woman won the race, not because of her intelligence (duh!), but because of the color of her skin.
Her opponent has a chance to take advantage of the intelligence level of the electorate by creating campaign signs that say,
“Vote for me…because I’m Black!”
A simple message for simple minds…and it would be the truth!
Rags, it seems we’re on the same page.
It’s pretty humorous that Black is running against Brown. The folks that continue to vote for Sandbag probably think that she’s well spoken – heh!
“Great minds…” and all that…
I may think my rep (Boxer) is stupid, but at least she can form a proper sentence.
Am I the only one thinking about Suess’ Hop on Pop?
“Where is Brown? There is Brown! Mr. Brown is out of town.”
“Back, Black, Brown came back. Brown came back with Mr. Black.”
OT (slightly) — my wife went to a local opthamologist yesterday. She thanked him for having his waiting room TV on the Fox News Channel (which we watch all the time). He admitted he was very conservative and told her two things about his practice:
First, FNC on his waiting room TV has cost him more than a few patients. He handles protests about his preference for FNC by gladly handing the protestor a list of local opthamologists kept at the receptionist’s desk for just that purpose. One patient who wants to keep him as her doctor chooses to wait outside in her car letting the receptionist call her to come inside when it is her turn to be taken into an examining room.
Second, he reported many recent phone calls for appointments where the caller said, “Obama be payin’ my insurance.” (his exact words). He doesn’t turn those patients away, but makes plain they must provide proof of other insurance.
This is not about race. This is about grammar. I know plenty of Caucasians who have the same or even lower level of articulation. Let’s keep our focus, please.
…and that we have people (no matter their race, sex, birthplace or creed) who can’t articulate well (whether written or spoken).
How can we expect them to pass proper laws for our country, teach our children (not mine — Christian school!), police our streets, fight our wars, etc.?
“Stupid is as stupid does.”
— Forrest Gump
Vickisoup,
I appreciate that point. There are times when, as a black conservative, I get the uneasy feeling folks are sliding into the “they’re all that way” trap.
That said, black Americans give way too much support to that idea by the way they behave and the Democrat party is especially egregious in this regard. They specialize in putting people forward whose only accomplishments are that they are black, and that they possess an inordinate sense of victimhood (Obama being the most polished exemplar).
Re: Hank Johnson’s comment…word is he has Hepatitis C and his bizarre comments are probably not evidence of a low IQ so much as a descent into literal, Hepatitis-induced insanity.
So in a word, Yo! Lissen, we ain’t all like dat!
Sorry. Could.not.resist.
I tinhk yuo are asobeutly rhgit bcuesae I dnot eevn konw how to slepl msylef but ploepe uerndsantd waht I wirte jsut fnie aywany!
He can’t turn them away, why, that’d be downright racist, and it’s plain that actually requiring proof of other insurance is racist too. Just wait till TEH WON finds out about this!
No thanks to the popularity of promoting “Ghetto Speak” in media, and deliberate avoidance of teaching proper grammar in school, where radical liberal indoctrination is so much more important than, you know, actually teaching readin’, writin’, an’ ‘rithmatic!
“Whereas many individuals ain’t got no health insurance, …”

Ah, bygone disciplinary measures. A fine topic for a discussion thread all on its own.
Hep C destroys your brain? Anyone with a brain disease has my sympathy. My sister died of a glioblastoma. Is his condition common knowledge on the hill?
Maybe he is more affected by his political associations there than by the virus. If not, there are medications to help him.
BTW. I know you ain’t all like dat. Most of the pop culture language is put on for bluster, but it still annoys the he** out of me anyway.
I think this is a case where she shows the same lack of respect for the rules of language as she does for the rules barring elected officials from using their office to obtain preferential treatment.
Now that’s funny.
Especially now that we are experiencing heat indexes (indices?) of 100+ every afternoon!

This reminds me – vouchers, so parents can send their kids to good schools. For example, the black kids who may not be able to go to Sidwell Friends because DC wants control over everyone and everything. Keeping kids ignorant drives me crazy.
My guess, she’s got the engine on to run her air conditioner and the exhaust fumes are covering up the windmill bumper sticker on her Volvo.
Major O:
I know that; and, I would hope that all of us here know that.
Slackjawness likely depends far more often, and to a far greater degree, on “culture”, than on other factors.
We are individuals here, not members of groups…except that we are all Americans.
You and I are thus related, as the black guy told us last fall with the sign he was holding that went something like, “Joe the plumber and I are related; we’re both Americans!”
God Bless America!

Good one!
Rim shot, please!

Okay, I’ll say it…the woman waiting in the car is stupid. No political correctness for me!
How could we have forgotten?
Doesn’t Moe say, “No sandbagging, now!”, in the bridge game episode, just before folks drink the punch that Curly spilled the alum into?
Those dang racist Republicans again.
Takes one to know one.
So in a word, Yo! Lissen, we ain’t all like dat!
Major O: Naughty, naughty.
But, you’re so right….Lots of people use various regional dialects and terms that may be hard to understand. But, speaking for most posters here: We get what you’re saying.
Dad: “Go get me something to beat you with!”
Boy, did I pay for THAT one! It was on my bed the whole time!
Ah the good ol’ days
Yup, my backside remembers them well : )
I tried newspaper armor (stuffed in the seat of my jeans).
Worked, too…
right up until it didn’t. Apparently something about the change in sound…
and my grin.
Why does Brown talk that way?
Dear Dean Black,
This ain’t no joke! Yo last name be racist!
Paul Revere
My Dad just aimed a little lower when he noticed I didn’t jump and scream with newspaper in there.
Thats when you learn to add the reaction also.
We are all actors and the world is our stage.
Well, there’s the problem!
Oh yeah? Yestaday I cud not spel
repasent…reprasent… repazentativ! Today I ar won!The last time I heard someone talk like this was when I was shopping and observed shopping and a group of blacks in their 20-30′s with baggy pants and oversize shirts was walking around the store trying to keep their pants up.
Brown forgot to say how “why they be hatin’ on us’es.” Another example of our public educations and acceptance of “black culture” as the norm.
You should ax her.

Where or where can we buy mail order sandbags? I ain’t sending no trash, I is sending sandbags.
It is just wonderful: these tolerant, inclusive Liberals trash every black, hispanic and women Conservative with the vilest of slurs-racial and otherwise. Mock one of the Chosen Dummies and you are a racist, homophobe or such.
Being a Knuckling Dragging Neanderthal all I can tell our tolerant, inclusive Liberals: sorry lads-you are NOT defining the argument. And I ain’t sending no trash, I is sending sandbags. If the Jacksonville FL officials catered to Missy Brown before others they are negligent in duty.
