Another outrageous Obama DHS appointment
Here we go again. I’ve long reported on the danger of illegal alien sanctuary city policies embraced by woefully misguided (at best) and criminally reckless public officials seeking to appease the open borders lobby. One of the countless casualties of this deadly pandering was Houston PD officer Rodney Johnson, who shot and killed during a traffic stop in 2006 by an previously deported illegal alien protected by Houston’s sanctuary law. His widow, Josyln, continues to speak out against continued non-enforcement policies — and she is livid that the Houston police chief will now be joining the Obama administration:
The widow of a Houston police officer killed by an illegal immigrant said Sunday that the policies left in place in her city by a top immigration official in the Obama administration continue to put officers in danger.
That official, former Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt, is taking a job to oversee partnerships between federal and local officials with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. However, during his tenure in Houston he resisted enforcing immigration law and criticized ICE’s key program that draws on local law enforcement’s support. Hurtt is now facing a lawsuit over those policies filed by Joslyn Johnson, whose husband, Rodney, was killed in 2006 by a once-deported illegal immigrant who had been arrested three times.
Joslyn Johnson, herself a sergeant in the Houston force, told Fox News that the policies that kept local officers from checking the immigration status of suspects remain in place and pose a risk to her and her colleagues.
“It has remained the same. It has not changed,” Johnson said.
Johnson is suing to seek a change in policy so that federal immigration databases are widely available to local departments. Johnson’s original court petition — naming Hurtt as well as the city and the police department — claimed that the department’s failure to discover the gunman’s immigration status and report him to federal authorities enabled him to stay “at large” in the country.
These open-borders sympathizers endanger us all — and it will only prompt more of an Arizona-style backlash in other states and cities across the country.
“Illegal alien sanctuary” or rule of law community: It’s your choice.

I lived in Houston during the referenced shooting, and it was clear the both (then) Mayor Bill White and Chief Harold Hurtt resisted enforcing immigration law and criticized ICE’s key program that draws on local law enforcement’s support, thus embracing the sanctuary city concept that allowed the perpetrator to be back in this country illegally again. Chief Hurtt was not respected by the rank and file.
It seems the SC has agreed to hear AZ immigration law. Foxnews.com says. From the article dear sis is really in the hot seat with this. Please do not cave Gov. Brewer. A vast majority of Americans are with you.

Just another note on Hurtt, {we live ~ 30 miles outside Houston} – it took him the better part of a YEAR to pass Texas law enforcement exams, during which time, while he was the de facto Chief of the HPD, he couldn’t wear the uniform ………………….. he’s an idiot, and unrepentant apologist for illegal immigrant criminals ………………..

Michelle, please pardon my Naiveté, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out how cities, etc. can legally flaunt the rule of law and selectively decide which laws to enforce and which to ignore. How is that not a criminal action? Doesn’t such a designation amount to a local “law” or proclamation trumping a state/federal law? Why aren’t Attorneys General filing suit?
Any elected official left or right, who refuses to enforce a law pass by their legislature or the Congress should be removed from office.
If a law is bad, change it, or abolish it. I find nothing good in ignoring or refusing to enforce any law. Doing so lets things snowball into this mess.
Organize locally. Demand the local police enforce ALL laws- ask them how they can possibly justify not doing so and ask why you should pay your taxes since we can pick and choose which laws we recognize.
Start locally, move to the national government.

The Arizona law SCOTUS is going to hear the case against is the employer law against knowingly hiring illegals … NOT the current illegal immigration enforcement law in the news regarding it being against Arizona state law to be in the USA, and therefore Arizona, illegally …
The employer law was passed in 2007 and even stood the test of the Clowns at the 9th Circus of Appeals in CA on its way to SCOTUS … it has been upheld at every level thus far …

Right now it is out of the hands of the Obami and in the hands of the greater evil Supreme Court. Activist Jurists can ignore/ rewrite the Constitution at will as there is no check and balance to correct their illegal activist actions.
Al we can hope for is by the grace of God that they make the correct Constitutional decision rather than the political one.
Should be a good test case for John “Born Again” McCain to demonstrate his new pro-enforcement credentials. Pay attention closely, folks.
It will be no test at all. McCain’s vote wiil not be needed, so he can lie with his vote the same way he always lies with his votes whenever it is politically expedient.

The good news, though, is that even if they do strike down Arizona’s law, it wouldn’t necessarily take a constitutional amendment to undo the ruling. The most likely basis they would have for striking it down is merely that it conflicts with the power of Congress. But Congress would then have the power, on its own, to explicitly allow states to exercise such power, as they currently do when it comes to minimum wage laws.
Now of course the current Democrat-controlled Congress would never pass such a bill. But if there’s a ruling against the Arizona law, that would create all the more pressure to elect new members in November who would turn things around.
It is simply amazing to me that police departments from city, county, and state jurisdictions are given instructions to have a “hands off” policy when it comes to illegal immigration. They are expected to arrest and hold people when they are suspected of committing other federal crimes of murder, armed robbery, and a myriad of other offenses even if committed in other states. Why would this illegal activity be any different?
BTW, since Mexico is filing suit against Arizona for its immigration law, if I were Gov Brewer, I’d send a bill to Mexico for all of the social services, healthcare, schooling and everything else Arizona taxpayers have had to pay for illegal immigrants from Mexico. Two can play that game.

So this guy is facing a lawsuit for his sanctuary policies; yet Obama hires the guy anyway? You would think that the administration would stay away from someone who has legal problems, but then again it may have been a resume booster.
As a Houstonian I have seen directly what has resulted from Hurtt’s policies. Between he and Bill “Elmer Fudd” White, they turned Houston into a one stop truckstop for illegal aliens infiltrating our country, moving in drugs, and trafficking in people.
Not surprised Obama is considering Hurtt. He meets Obama’s main criteria: he’s black, he’s a Dem, and he’s screwed up a major city.
Not strange at all once you realize the ultimate goal of the anti-American leftists who’ve infiltrated and have secured high-level decision making positions in government at every level.
Using this criteria, TEH WON has a huge pool of potential candidates to draw from for future appointments.

I don’t think the timing’s too good for Bill White and his run for Governor of Texas. But, maybe the timing’s just right for Gov. Rick Perry. I hope Perry jumps all over this issue.

As many know, Bill White is running for Texas governor. I heard him speak at a TEA Party town hall meeting, and that is part one of my report.
White & Hurtt hove to the theory that effective immigration enforcement hurts police work.

What’s even better is an illegal does not need “no stinking seat belt” either. Since he likely speaks no English, has no driver’s license, or insurance when pulled over, he can’t be ticketed.

This is no surprise. Obama chooses only people who endorse his progressive/marxist agenda. The WH is teeming with them, running around and multiplying like human cockroaches. We live in S TX and can not believe that white is in a tie with Perry the last Rasmussen poll. Our home will not vote for white. Perry has problems, but not like white!

Just think of the cost savings if the police would stop responding to domestic abuse, robbery and child abductions. Then they could respond to real issues-the a fore mentioned seat-belt laws and parking violations. Do not enforce DWI or speeding laws–that might take some effort from from easier revenue actions.
Take Hurtt at his word and Houston doesn’t need a police department at all. But I am sure he would lie about that too.

I live next to a sanctuary town. When the economy soured, the illegals started leaving. Business closed, for rent signs went out and landscape trucks disappeared. The economy did more to get rid of the illegals than the police ever did. I don’t hear spanish spoken as much. It is refreshing. Building an economy based upon a work force here illegally was a house of cards and not a plan for success.
Is that town actively trying to recruit black Americans — even those on welfare/workfare into its job rolls?

The Obama freak show just keeps getting freakier. I can only conclude that big-ears gets off on sticking it to America. I guess that’s why he always appears so emotionally dead in public. Better yet, not only will there be no ticket issued, but there are other advantages to illegals. You can avoid paying taxes (just list exempt on you tax paperwork after all who is going to audit you)and you can guarnatee that you will get to vote and it will actually get counted.
I am starting to wonder if we should all just become illegals so that we can actually get our Constituional rights.

So if Harold Hurtt, who has made clear his opposition to state or local law enforcement cooperation with ICE as Phoenix and Houston police chief, is now in charge of monitoring and overseeing all state and local entities with 287(g) agreements nationwide – what does this mean for Maricopa County’s highly successful 287g program, (or any of the successful 287g programs) which the radical illegal alien activists and advocates and furious opponents of Sheriff Joe have been demanding be terminated?
My guess is this is the Administration’s guy that will carry out the demands by the radical illegal alien lawyers and advocates to either restrict or end Maricopa County’s participation in the 287g program, and any other agreement the advocates hate for its success in identifying illegal aliens who commit a crime and are booked into jail.
Is this the beginning of the end to the thousands of illegal aliens who get caught, identified and deported once they are booked into the Maricopa County Jail, whether for violent or nonviolent crimes, whether convicted or not, including the Arizona state human smuggling laws and employer sanctions laws?
Never mind how many criminals are identified and caught, and expelled to no longer victimize Arizona citizens. The Administration considers many of the crimes, especially those who commit nonviolent crimes, too petty to count them as criminals, since they believe these same illegals deserve amnesty, and deserve to live freely within our communities without inconvenience or fear. Would not surprise me one bit.
Hah! In many of the communities surrounding Los Angeles, along the route of my commute, this comes closer to fact than rumor already.
I do not understand why anyone would be surprised – the Obama administration is comprised of nothing but criminals and incompetents
