Musicians for open borders

Nope, alas, they still haven’t taken Laura Ingraham’s advice to just “shut up and sing.” A bunch of left-wing musicians have banded together to form something called the “Sound Strike” coalition to boycott Arizona.
Here’s the official list of musicians for open borders so far. Let the listener beware:

At least one Arizona concert promoter (who also opposes SB1070) recently responded to the boycotters and noted the consequences for small businesses in the arts and entertainment industry:
The people who will feel the negative effects of the boycott the deepest are local concert venues, including non-profit art-house theatres, independent promoters, fans and the people employed in the local music business. If the boycott continues, it is all but guaranteed that some of these venues will be forced to close their doors.
…The truth is, a boycott is an easy gesture that doesn’t require much more than a statement and removing a date from your tour schedule.
Heck of a job, rock stars.

Aw man, you mean I have to get rid of all my Los Faggots CDs?
The good news is, the vast majority of bands on this list already belong in the trash by virtue of their lousy musicianship and not their misguided politics.
WHO??
I recognized one name on that list.
Does that date me or just say alot more about how “popular” these people really are.
No! Not Los Faggots! Oh, no!
Hmmm. I don’t see the big rock bands named. Guess the almighty dollar still reigns.
I don’t see any country music artists either. Guess they’re just interested in performing for their fans rather than performing for the liberal dog and pony show.
Never heard of any of them except Nine Inch Nails and I wouldn’t go across the street to listen to them. As an AZ resident, I am crying crocodile tears for all the concerts I am going to miss this year (boo hoo)
darn…….
WHO? … I read through the whole list and I saw one name I think I might have heard of …
This list is probably the most exposure some of these people have ever gotten … and I doubt any of them have read SB1070 …
Just jumping on the boycott bandwagon out of la-la-land hoping to promote themselves … they don’t really care either way about SB1070 or the people being hurt in AZ …
go figure.
Only name on on the list that I recognized was Nine Inch Nails. Let them cancel their gigs…I’m sure that there are lots of local bands that would jump at the chance to take a few gigs because Los Faggots or Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine have their collective panties in a wad.
Richard Cheese does an awesome version of ‘Down with the Sickness’ (originally by Disturbd).
That said, he’s still an occasion for ‘who?!’
Not a band I’d want to see. Not even “Los Faggots”…
They’d be more likely to bring Arizona to its knees by threatening to come and put on free shows…
I hear that when los faggots and the bastard fairies get together they put on one hell of a show!!!
Other than Pitbull & Nine Inch Nails… I’ve never heard of any of the others.. which says a whole lot about the “Impact” of their Boycott.
If a douche bag artist is never hear of and they boycott… did they even exist to begin with???
Like everyone else has said it is a list of NO TALENT HACKS. Notice how many of them have Spanish names.
Cry me a river losers,I hope all of them starve because of their actions.
If they all lit themselves on fire I may consider an Arizona boycott.
“Who are these guys?”
I’m sure many of them are “musicians” in the broadest sense of the word. “Noisemakers” is probably more like it.
Is Los Bastardo Cucarochas De La Muerta on the list? I just love them.
Only if they did it live – PPV….and I still wouldn’t consider an AZ boycott. It would just be fun and refreshing to see so-called “musicians” bellow and scream at the top of their lungs for a real good reason.
Proud to say I only recognized a few of the names on the list, which means I don’t listen to any of this garbage.
And this is a prime example of why…
Hmm. Conspicuously missing from the list:
The ICE men
BorderGardZ
Sheriff Joe and the Deputies
The Phence
KeepEmOut
The DePorters
NoAnchorBabies
Alienator
Let’s see…I recognize Nine Inch Nails, Maroon 5 and Rage Against the Machine. The latter is not a big surprise since this is the kind of cause they would want to be attached to.
As for the rest, at least they get free publicity.
Thankfully, have never heard of any of these “musicians.”
Have heard of foul-mouthed Chris-F-Word- Rock, and the stinky fat guy, Michael Moore, always up for a protest against democracy, that’s it. The rest of the hip-hop maroons are unknowns and going no where. Let them be the face of this “movement.”
add to that, artistic decline.
Does that mean “The Meatballs?”
Because if it doesn’t, then I’d have to say that band is guilty of hate speech.
Well, I will hate getting rid of my Ben Harper songs (he’s really quite good) but I tend to boycott those who boycott real America.
The rest of the list…..enjoy your only 15 seconds of fame!
Musicians??? How many of these MUSICIANS actually play an instrument? OH artists they call themselves now a days…
Yeah go ahead and jump on the band wagon (no pun intended) no love lost there. Idiots!
I own the big hits from all of these. Especially from Sheriff Joe.
I’d say we should boycott the boycotters, but who would buy that crap anyway?
I hardly recognized any of those names. Rage Against the Machine I totally expected. I’m disappointed that Joe Satriani and Ry Cooder are on that list, as they are both great musicians.
Kanye West, I’m really happy for you that you joined this cause, and I’mma let you finish, but I don’t give a crap about your political opinions.
Little Boots is the only newer artist I listen to, and I wouldn’t expect her to join this being British and all.
I wonder how they’ll all react when other states seek similar legislation. Boycotting half of a country starts to limit your options.
One good reason I listen to old music…It’s much better and they are much less apt to add their political leanings…….
I didn’t see Frank Sinatra on the list so I breathed a sigh of relief…LOL
(yes I know he is gone…)
There’s only one name on that list that I’m truly disappointed to see…Joe Satriani. His music, (mostly instrumentals) is what inspired me to pick up a guitar and learn to play. He is/was a master of the Ibanez guitar, and I’m actually sort of crushed that he put his his name on that list. Scratch 1 inspiration.
At least I didn’t see the name, Nuno Bettancourt.
Every one of the artists named (ex. Mr. Cooder) must surely know that it is against the Geneva convention to play their music to Prisoners of War and Guantanamo Bay detainees, since it violates international agreements on torture.
I know that I am an out of touch old fart, who feels music for the most part – not quite completely, but for the most part – stopped after the early 70s.
But, I can’t tell if this boycott is a threat…or a promise.
I mean (yes, I know, IMO), where exactly is the bad news?
I think the people on this list are just angry because music fans have been boycotting their garbage music.
They still can’t figure out why people don’t buy their crapola. It must be Bush’s fault somehow or racism. Can’t be the music.
These “artists” are just too easy to ignore.
Guess I’m getting old or out of touch but I only recognize two names…Rage against the machine and one of my favorite guitar players “Satriani”…guess he’s now off my list…Musicians should stick to what they do best…play music…payback could be a piglosi….
This REALLY steams me.
I vow, in front of God and everyone, never, NEVER, EVER to buy any of their 8-tracks.
Never heard of any of these bands. I thought I recognized Dapuntobeat and Leo Añorve but then I realized it’s only because they are listed twice and the second posting sounded familiar.
Just curious….
Do you listen to Johnny Winter, Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Peter Frampton?
lol… I’d was going to ask who’s music I’d need to stop buying…. but they all s#ck or are irrelevant.
So that problem solved itself.
Ah, crap. Now I gotta take the Satriani CDs down to the pistol range…
I don’t know but maybe two of the names on the entire list. Yep, I am not a young man. But seems to me they are going to punish the wrong folks. All because they haven’t read the bill either and wanna feel good. The music business, like the entirety of show business, sure ain’t what it used to be.
Where the Dixie Twits?
Only ones I recognize:
Richard Cheese did Star Wars Cantina to the tune of Copacabana (Barry Manilow)
MICHAEL MOORE – not an artist
I’ve never heard of any of them, so I guess I can stage a counter-boycott without missing anything. I’d have been crushed if I had to boycott my Special EFX, Fourplay or Spyro Gyra CDs…
Tenacious D was a movie with Jack Black and a street musician from Venice Beach. Is Jack Black jumping on the ignorance bandwagon?
when I was reading the list the first thing that popped out of the british wife’s mouth was meatballs…yummy she says…
Hard to boycott if you never heard of them?…Michael Moore? artist? Quick buck artistI guess…. We should ask the boycotters to wear signs…make it easyer to boycott them
If you aren’t getting any gigs, no worries! Just proclaim that you’re boycotting in the name of some supposedly noble cause, and you’ll have a brand-new case of the clap in no time!
I might have missed it, but did we have a C&W group on the list? Our home has and does c&w. If you are not with our Republic, you will get our home ‘ban’. In my years of listening and watching c&w, they, most, love our country. These, whoever, do not like our country, get your hinny and all the money you got here from our free country and see castro!
L
I’m more and more convinced that this nation’s political differences will only be resolved with blood. Like old Clemenza said, you gotta have a war from time to time. “Helps to get rid of the bad blood.”
Never heard of any of them no great lost then
Of that first list, the only one I’ve heard of is Nine Inch Nails, and with having 3 young adults, I’ve heard of most of the popular indie groups.
Of the subsequent lists, I’ve heard of Rage Against the Machine, Rise Against, and Kayne West of course. The first two are notoriously left-wing, my kids can’t stand listening to them.
If any of them sound like some of the stuff I’ve heard (including from my own basement!), it’s no loss to Arizona.
Not that I’m in any way the official MM welcome wagon, but welcome back…been a while / tgr
Most of those acts are far past their prime or are strictly for college hipster snobs.
Somebody needs to inform Trent Reznor that the illegal alien crowd prefers something with a brass section and lyrics entirely in Spanish.
The boycott will succeed in closing down venues, which will result in fewer venues available for a growing number of musicians. (Artists now will get free health care so more people will spend more time on the arts creating more artists for Pelosi)and more competition for musicians (and I use that term loosely).
More artists and less venues means these morons won’t be able to get gigs, which they need to make a living.
They must be planning on just living off of the government but will probably boycott any government checks from Arizona. (cough sarc).
They will all be singing the blues soon enough.
I don’t see anybody on that list that was gonna get any of my money anyway.
My guess is that I’m exposed to some of these groups because their fans enjoy playing their “music” at decibel volumes that cause seismic activity when their vehicles go rolling by.
If that’s the case, Arizona comes out the winner. I would call it “Addition by subtraction”.
TheyWe will all be singing the blues soon enough (with Obama in the White House.“Nobody knows, de trouble I seen…..”
I doubt the names on that list….have combined sold as many albums (CDs) as Slim Whitman has.
I don’t know how to do quotes on here…but to Dexter (comment #20): I thought your list was great. Good job.
only one I listen to is JOE SATRIANI
oh well…..
Well I’ve hearg of Nine Inch Nails and Maroon 5. Last Maroon 5 song I heard was the Muzak being played in a Supermarket.
I’m reminded of the difference between these Bands and American Idol Runner-up Adam Lambert. In his Rolling Stone interview where he revealed he was gay, he said he was “trying to be a singer, not a civil-rights leader.”
Only heard of a couple of them, and if they all fell over dead tomorrow I wouldn’t know or care.
Meh. I’ve only heard half a dozen of them, heard *of* maybe another half dozen. Kanye West is a drunken fool, and I can live without Nine Inch Nails.
Tool is better, anyway.
Obama Blues
I got those Obama blues
My candidates always lose
Obamacare is the law of the land

Too bad for Israel and all those jews
I got the Obama blues
He fooled us all with his clever ruse
And now I got the Obama blues
Man, did I ever!
Actually learned to play “Hey Joe” not long ago. The guy was an innovator. (shrooms and LSD notwithstanding)
Michelle, you have a list of some kind, but where’s the list of musicians?
Memo to Musicians for Open Borders:
When your stolen prize guitar is hanging for sale in a pawn shop in East L.A. it is not a good thing.
Hey, they all know 3 chords.
1. electrical
2. vocal
3. firewood
And they know progressions, or at least progressives.
And some of them have probably done time as well as know 4/4 time.
And Democratic politics are duly noted.
Call me a drive by poster, I jumped here to let go of built up steam and hatred for the left that is ruining this country day by day.
I won’t miss any of these elitist, traitorous bastards, I’m so out of touch I haven’t heard of 5 of these clowns. Boycott these phony’s, where the hell do they think they make their money.
Bill Whittle of PJTV and others are starting a new production company comprised of American citizens. The idea is to make movies for America not against America like the scum bags like Stone, Spielberg, Hanks and others are making. The new company has been named Declaration Entertainment I joined, if you want a change in America’s entertainment get involved.
Their pushing a little harder everyday folks…get prepared if your not, it’s going to get ugly.
I would boycott all those artists in response, but I can’t since I don’t listen to any of them anyway.
I take it back, I recognized 1 name, that of unfunny black guy Chris Rock, who does a lousy Richard Pryor impression.
I saw the boycott and jumped to conclusions, now my blood pressure is almost normal(high, lol) , these people have to be joining a boycott to get attention they obviously don’t have…it’s this anti-American crap that gets me so upset, I don’t care who it’s coming from.
He is about as funny as a rock.
I might have recognized 1 out of every 50 names on that list. And I’m not the least bit concerned with going against Nine Inch Nails (aka Trent Reznor) because I suspect he’s a Satanist.
*What about the “Dead Kennedys’”?; I’m sure at least one of them would want to join the boycott.
*Most of those groups are probably infested with illegal aliens, so no surprise there.
HOW NICE of them to put names in a handy list for me to avoid. And ban my teenagers from as well. THANKS!
That’s a real list of musicians huh?
Isn’t that interesting.
I’ll bet these liberal musicians have no fences, gates, or security around their mansions/homes/compounds. Why, I bet they don’t even have servants, maids, or gardeners either. Right?
Are these artists, or a missing persons list?
There are reasons why this gaggle, of mostly publicity seekers, play nothing and blurt nonsense into microphones…while the rest of America play by the rules and actually work for a living.
I guess that”standing for porous borders” is one one of those reasons.
Oooooooooh. I guess that Trent Rezner (Nine Inch Nails) and Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against the Machine) still need to be considered “bad asses” in their old age.
Trent Rezner –
Zach de la Rocha -
I don’t know, I think I’ll let these two rocket scientists tend to their inner-children before I start listening to their misguided views of geo-political politics.
My band would be happy to take any of the gigs the promoters need filled,we’re right next door in New Mexico.
I’ve told my guys repeatedly that we’re just clowns, minstrels,we make pretty noises for people & they pay us for it,our opinions ain’t worth squat unless they’re about music.People who pay attention to what performers say & think their opinions are worthwhile are shallow & dumb.
But don’t listen to me,listen to the music.
let me get this straight…
A group that calls themselves “Los Faggots” are boycotting a state based on perceived discrimination?…

Political Wrinkles
http://politicalwrinkles.com
Not to be outdone, washed up actors Dustin Hoffman and Meg Ryan have decided to boycott Israel, according to the Jerusalem Post tonight. Hoffman and Ryan both canceled plans to attend an Israeli film festival but neither had the guts to publicly say that they were joining the left wing Israel boycott movement. This way they can tell the boycott movement people that they (Hoffman and Ryan) are honoring the boycott of Israel while at the same time whining to the Israelis that “if only my schedule permitted”, I would go to Israel. Since neither Hoffman or Ryan is presently shooting a movie, both actors have wide open schedules. Neither one has the courage of his/her convictions. I would boycott Ryan and Hoffman in protest except there is no movie to boycott. Neither Ryan and or Hoffman gets much work in Tinseltown these days.
As a former veteran of the Music Industry, working for one of the Major Label distribution companies, I feel comfortable commenting on this issue.
Fact is, literally, the majority of bands and so-called “artists” on this lists can’t even sell enough recordings to support themselves. They’re looking for a politically-correct bandwagon to attach themselves to, which might drive some sales at the cash register.
I’ve spent considerable time with many “artists”, and most of them couldn’t find the bathroom, if they didn’t have a manager or personal assistant to figure it out for them.
A few couldn’t get their zipper down without help. And I’m talking “artists” a lot bigger than the no-talent a$$clowns on this list.
They’re playing to their usual nightly audience of two people. Mom and Dad would be proud.
Not.
Gee, we’ll have to check back often because the list is growing…..still not heart broken……
when did Michael Moore become a musician?? What instrument does he play??
Unless there is a new act calling themselves La Lupe, she died in 1992. I cannot find a reference to another band or musician by that name.
Gee, can I consider the urgency of their request the same as their level of talent?
WHO THE HE!! are these bozo’s? and do I care?
Naw.
Moore plays the belly-bloat-bongo, and the smack-that-ass-tambourine, and the double-chin-whiz. He’s a one man band.
Hey Moron 5- Just deleted all your songs from my iPod. I never need to hear you again you spineless weasels. The rest of the looser ‘artists’ that no one ever heard of will jump on any publicity bandwagon in the hope of a few downloads. Memo to Nine Inch Nails- no one cares any more. Quit trying to be relevant; Trent you’re like 50 now, right? Give it up man, and leave the politics to the adults.
Make that ‘loser’ artists…. too mad to spell!
Oh damn, Sonic Youth is on the list. My favorite band, but I’ve learned to look the other way for years when they line up on the loony, lefty side.
At least they don’t preach during concerts (see Bruce Springsteen).
I think these guys should start playing Mexico, to show their support and to further boycott any state that might agree with Az. I live in Fla and we support the Az. law can we get some of that boycott too?
I haven’t heard of any of those musicians.
So they are hoping this will help them get publicity?
Thanks for the warning, I’ll be sure to keep missing them
Why do the most inconsequential people in our society (actors, musicians, etc.) seem to think that their “holier than thou” opinions matter?
These people are OUR entertainment, and nothing more – they are no more valuable to me than my television…in fact, i would be far more grieved to lose my TV than to here of the passing of one of these shmucks
What, no Dixie Chicks? Oh well, they’re already on my boycott list and I’ll just add these new names to it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a lot of fake ones on the list because they’ve already proven themselves to be dishonest with their premise.
Ok, so if we decide to boycott these “artists”, does that mean we are going to boycott the restaurants they work at too?
