Michelle Obama: Take Your Vacation in the Gulf, America — If You Need Us, We’ll Be Vacationing in Maine

Michelle Obama visited the Gulf coast today, and suggested that Americans who are planning vacations this summer consider taking them in the Gulf region as a sign of economic solidarity with those impacted by the oil spill.
From ABC’s Jake Tapper:
On her first trip to the Gulf Coast since the BP oil spill, First Lady Michelle Obama encouraged Americans to consider vacationing on the region’s beaches that have not been directly impacted by oil.
“It is vacation time. Folks are looking for things to do with their kids, and this would be a great opportunity to do a few things — help this community, send a different message about the extent of the spill, and also think long term about how the rest of the country can help this economy and the folks down here,” Mrs. Obama said at the Panama City Welcome Center.
If you want to ask the Obamas why it’s so important that you take your vacation this year in the Gulf region, feel free to track them down this weekend while they’re on vacation… in Maine:
President Obama and the first family are planning a short vacation in Maine this weekend, traveling Down East on Friday for three days on Mt. Desert Island, the home of Acadia National Park, according to the office of U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, Democrat of Maine.
The Obamas will arrive Friday and stay through Sunday, Pingree said in a statement.
“What an honor that the Obama family has chosen Maine for vacation when they could have gone anywhere in the country,” said Pingree.
Well, not anywhere — it’s just that in Maine there aren’t any tar balls for a thousand miles so daddy can safely brag that he has in fact plugged the hole.
If the First Lady is actually interested in helping the Gulf economy, forget about where they’re vacationing — she might consider convincing her husband to stop pursuing a drilling moratorium that is driving oil rigs, and the direct and ancillary jobs they provide, to other countries.

I think the Obama’s made a good choice. Why stay in the Gulf where the residents would greet you with torches and pitchforks?
If I were them I would get as far north and east as I could. No angry blacks in Maine to embarass you and destroy your image.

Ditto, we’ve had 1 vacation in about the same timeframe (20 years), we took 6 days off. Since we are are self employed we do not get paid unless we work. I took today off and only saw 9 patients.

And the Dems said Bush was always on vacation. Ha! Not nearly as much (or expensive) as Obama’s holidays. Not bad for a guy whose never worked a day in his life, at least in any productive way.

I am concerned about Michelle Obama’s mental health. I seriously think she is suffering from a form a psychosis brought on by a lifelong obsession with her own blackness. She clearly has let her life be defined by the color of her skin.
She truly is a sad, pitiful individual. Almost Hitlerian in the way that personal rage has caused her to lash out at people who she blames for all the problems in her life.
I suggest Americans who are planning vacations this summer should consider taking them in Arizona as a sign of economic and political solidarity with those impacted by liberal boycotts.
Would y’all care to pay for me to vacation at least four days each month and to throw a big ol’ party at least once a month.
I thought not. So why when other Federal Employees only have 30 paid vacation days a year does this guy get, 56 to the best of my recollection?

The Obamas are so used to getting sycophantic treatment from the MSM and the entertainment community that they don’t even bother to try to hide their true arrogance. Michelle Obama was the recipient of puppy love from Stephen Colbert, who savages everyone else. Colbert actually asked Michelle: “Would Barack be jealous if he knew I was flirting with you?”. Other male journalists such as Chris Matthews have gushed over how gorgeous Michelle Obama is in sleeveless gown when Chris can see her sexy arms.
So the Obamas don’t even care about pretenses. They know the MSM will lap it all up. David Letterman’s producer said that Dave doesn’t do Barack jokes because “President Obamas is just so competent that there is nothing to laugh about”.
One place we know the Obamas won’t be vacationing in: The State of Israel. Barack Obama has made it a point to visit Cairo and so many other Muslim capitals have happily and publicly shunning Israel, a country he has a visceral anger toward. He will also not visit England, a country he views as the bastion of the imperialist empire.

They aren’t even visiting Chellie Pingree’s district. They are visiting Mike Michaud’s district.
Pingree’s boyfriend is Donald Sussman though. A hedge fund manager who received bailout money and who donates lots of money from his home in CT.
Also, Pingree is a member of the Progressive Caucus.
The road going in and out of Mt. Desert is small and will be shut down to paying tourists. Great.
Why aren’t they going home to Chicago?
Have they even gone back to their own house back there?

Remember, this is just their pre-vacation for their monthly vacation in August. One can only hope they don’t get too close to ‘Thunder Hole’. As Ron said, the Dems bashed Bush about his trips to the Ranch, but almost all were either working trips (WH staff accompanied Bush)or were entertaining foreign dignitaries. Michelle’s trip to the Gulf (at taxpayer expense, of course) is indefensible to any except the Obamabots. Perhaps she wanted to check the trans-fat levels of the tar balls? I for one intend to take my limited vacation time and dollars and spend them in Arizona.
Michelle is the real ‘revolutionary’ in the family, her prejudice against America and the middle class is quite apparent when you follow her rise, but it is my belief that she is the one pulling the Obammapuppets strings, marching to the Alinsky script. What was Obama before he met Michelle? A Harvard Law graduate whose best job offer was as a gofer in a law firm that was directed to hire him. Yes he has (occasionally) good speech writers and can follow a teleprompter script, but get him off the TOTUS, – all I know is that if I had ever used as many Uh’s and Ah’s in a speech, my ninth grade Speech Teacher would have cleaned my clock.
I had wondered about that – been there, across that bridge. The SS will totally disrupt the island, probably have to shut down Acadia Park – too many vantage points for some nut. These few months are the islands only chance to make a years income, any disruption of the tourist trade will hurt.

yes, zero needed another vacation, after all he had to make a very important decision that was so monumental in nature, a vacation was in order. the decision was, which socks to wear to play golf.

Makes sense to me that HE will go to Maine. Of all the 57 states, the senators of Maine will make him feel more welcomed and adored than anywhere else. Will Susan and Olympia take him golfing and hold his putter?
When I saw he was going to Maine, my first thought was Kennebunkport. But then I remembered that was a different President’s vacation spot. But is a courtesy visit so hard?

I’m sure that my fellow Floridians are happy for the Obama’s to be in Maine instead of Florida. If they came to Florida, they’d have to shut down everything within a mile of them, so it would be bad for business.

Is it me or does this (_!_) kicker in chief always seem to be going on vacation. I seem to remember Bush getting hammered every year for going to his ranch for the month of August while Congress was in recess. But check me if I’m wrong, he still had his staff and was still functioning as president while obiewon is cavorting with his kids in Africa, China, London etc. I would love a breakdown of Bush v Obie on vacation time.

My dad and step-mom live in PCB and they said the locals were not happy with Michelle O coming to town that all it was going to do was create a traffic mess.
Also, a sub-contractor (SWS Eagle) hired by BP had promised that locals would be getting jobs to help in the clean-up on the beaches. Instead, illegals were brought in and eleven were arrested. Plus 30 people didn’t show-up for the next shift. There is also reports in Destin that non-violent prisoners have been furloughed to work in the clean-up because you can pay them less money. So much for giving locals jobs.
Please source this tidbit. It’s quiet relevent to the Harry Reid thread.

Most of the Somalians and Sudanese that Catholic Charities of Maine have brought over here and established in the welfare system live in Lewiston and Portland and South Portland.
They fight amongst each other all the time and the new police chief over in Ptld., who is black and came from Los Angeles has given a hands off order. He wants to let the elders in the families handle things.
The Obamas are going to be about 2 1/2 hrs north of here so none of Somalians will see them.
By the way, remember a few years ago when King Middle School in Ptld. wanted to start handing out birth control to the 11 yr olds?
One of my friends is a teacher in Ptld and said it was really aimed at the Somalians because they come here and don’t give up their old ways. They get pregnant and married at 13 yrs old over there.
They love Obama though. When he was here to push his healthcare, they were all out with signs proclaiming their love of him.
They wouldn’t be angry to see him.
This is probably the worst time of the summer season to visit Maine. The humidity combined with the high temps makes it almost unbearable. When I lived there, this was the only time of the year we wished we had an air conditioner. Combined with that are the predicted thunderstorms during the royal visit. Have a really swell time prez-o-dent.
