Speaking of the NAACP, I’ve been monitoring the convention proceedings all morning. You can follow along on my Twitter (of Color!) account.
So far:
Earth-shattering civil rights resolutions have included:
*a resolution “supporting Native Americans” (which one member objected to because Native Americans were “slaveholders”);
*a resolution enshrining “DIVERSITY” as the NAACP’s top educational goal;
*a resolution banning the use of Tasers by police (which one member, a black female police officer, objected to because it would result in a blanket ban that takes away law enforcement alternatives…but whose objection was met with dead silence);
and
*a resolution opposing the closure of failing government schools (which one member pointed out was filled with grammatical errors).
Waiting for the resolution condemning Tea Party activists.

5:51pm Eastern. The Tea Party-bashing fest has finally begun. The resolution calling on “all people of good will” to “repudiate” the “racism” of the Tea Party is now being debated. The resolution says the Tea Party movement is a “threat to the pursuit of justice” for all.
Member wants to qualify that only “some” are racist in the Tea Party movement instead of “all” because CNN criticized Obama for issuing blanket indictment of the Tea Party movement.
Another member objects to demand that Tea Party “expel racial instigators,” says it violates free speech principles.

I think the NAACP is just trying to remain relevant, when they know, deep down, they aren’t.
They didn’t elect the first black president after all; they couldn’t have done it without a lot of support from the Caucasin population. Even if 100% of blacks vote for a certain candidate, that alone is not enough to win nationally.
They are liars and hypocrites, no more, no less. And they have been for years.

There are places in New York City where someone named Vinny or Carmine will kick the crap out of you for calling them white.
We can pound away at our keyboard keys till doomsday – but, seems the only ones placing ethnic tags around the necks of everyone are libtard Democrats. Nobody else gives a rip. I have a brand new niece (married a week ago) that is one of the most beautiful, well educated, young ladies I’ve met in ages. She is from the Phillipines and drop dead gorgeous. We now have a full compliment representing just about every religion (no muslims yet because they’d have to learn to drink lots of wine) and ethnic group.
Placing ethnic tags around the necks of anyone eventually leads to the yellow patches sewn on sleeves of the Star of David of so many years ago. It must be stopped, and must be addressed everytime anyone attempts to do it.
So, in the “old days” the police shot noncompliant black suspects, and the black community screamed their outrage.
So, in an effort to quell the outrage, well-meaning liberals insisted on non-lethal methods to affect arrests on the noncompliants…we got PR-24′s (side-handled batons). Nope, can’t use them…they were “deadly” martial arts weapons.
Enterprising officers then decided that a quick method to affect compliance was the “carotid restraint.” Nope…no good either. It seemed that African-Americans in particular, had an adverse effect to that “martial arts” method, and some died after it’s use.
So, we got the Tazer, a very effective, non-lethal tool. Now, the National Association of Anarchists, Communists and Progressives want to ban that tool, as well.
We already know they won’t approve of Area Denial Microwave devices, so I guess the police are expected to forgo physical detentions once again, and go back for the go old bullet?
Or, do they believe we should just ignore the black criminal, and hope that by showing understanding of the plight their forefathers, that they will decide to participate in civilized behavior, and give up their lives of crime? I think not!
When will they stop making excuses for the criminal elements within their community? Probably never, since to deny them, is to deny themselves.

Pasadena Phil (#32), I know what you mean by the reflected glory title on your blog. I spend some time with members of the 29th Division (Omaha Beach, D-Day) Association and often feel the same way, although I don’t have the defying racism angle. While my friends and I joke about my being older than dirt, I am incredibly thankful that I did not live in segregated times. The waste and cruelty of it must have been overwhelming.
Hangfire (#86), I spent several years in Hawaii, and I think that the US DID basically steal Hawaii from the rightful inhabitants (ie, the citizens of the country, not all of whom were ethnically Hawaiian). There are, or were until the economy tanked, lots of opportunities for all in Hawaii, though.
Back on topic, more or less. My great-grandfather was an early Chicago NAACP member (back when whites could join). He would be so ashamed of that organization now, he might wish that he had never joined.
Well in all fairness, having lived in the Philippines for a number of years, the darker skinned Filipinos are often referred to as “Black Beauties” and it is not in any way considered to be a derogatory commentary. That being said, it would seem doubtful that such was the intention of the comments in the expletive filled letter.

Many in the NAACP are racist. It came to a head back in the 1990s-2000.
There are quite a few “persons” who try to “elevate” themselves by finding someone who they can look down on to call names, especially based on their skin complexion.
In our school, there were three albinos. They had mostly negro characteristics. They were respected.
Too bad many “in the community” can not respect others regardless of their complexion inherited at birth.
So, it has come to this–certain words are verboten.
Certain people can use them, but apparently others can not. I wonder if someone were to quote a “community organizer” verbatim would their words be censored?
