Perfect: Campaign of Guy in Charge of Stimulus Accounting Fined $219,000 for ‘Sloppy Bookkeeping’

By Doug Powers  •  July 18, 2010 10:54 AM

In March of 2009, President Obama put Joe Biden in charge of making sure each and every stimulus dollar was accounted for and spent responsibly, and bestowed upon Plugs the title of “The Sheriff,” because “if you’re misusing taxpayer money, you’ll have to answer to him.”

Here’s the latest example of the laser-like focus on finances that made Biden the perfect choice for ensuring everything’s being done by the book as far as the “stimulus” goes:

WASHINGTON — Election watchdogs have fined Joe Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign more than $219,000 for sloppy bookkeeping and accepting excessive contributions, including a discounted flight on a private jet.

The audit was released Friday by the Federal Election Commission.
[...]
The FEC also found that the Biden campaign received at least $106,000 in donations that were over the limit, and the campaign was ordered to pay the U.S. Treasury more than $85,000 for stale-dated checks.

The Biden campaign also failed to disclose more than $3.7 million in payments and roughly $870,000 in debts.

Those FEC guys are such smartasses.

Yes, Mr. Biden. I believe you are correct. The voters will give Obama all the credit come this fall and in 2012 for these legislative acts.

Whether that child is legally qualified or not, such as Odopo…is the question. How does an agency that is to oversee elections and candidate’s eligibility act so flippant about their negligence… without any re-precautions.

That’s what needs to be changed, top to bottom. These traitors to the constitution need to pay for their crimes and punished where the law allows it.
I asked a serious question that needs to be answered by each and everyone of us that love America, the Constitution and the American way of life. The FEC blunder is only one small screw up, which became huge error that goes unpunished. That is what is wrong with America these days, no one taking responsibility for their mistakes.

That’s exactly why Sheriff Joe was picked to be the stimulus watchdog. First, he won’t find any errors with the way the stimulus slush fund is spent. And second, he is expendable. So, even if some shady expenditures come to light, he will be the fall guy so Obama can claim his hands are clean.

To accept public funding Biden had to agree to an audit of his campaign spending. Obama, on the other hand, decided not to accept public funding (after promising he would), so he didn’t have to agree to an audit or to spending limits. He is about as likely to agree to an audit as he is to agree to release his grades from harvard.

Some repayment is commonplace after presidential campaign audits and the repayment ordered here is relatively small.</blockquote>
