Glenn Beck Tells Audience He Might Be Going Blind

Hopefully this ends in the “best case scenario” category:

During a tearful and passionate speech at his “American Revival” meeting in Salt Lake City on Saturday, Fox News host Glenn Beck revealed that he may be going blind.

During his speech, Beck told the audience, “I can’t focus my eyes.”

Taking a shot at health care reform, Beck said, “I went to the best doctor I could find, while I could still go to the best doctor I can find.”

Beck, 46, says he has been diagnosed with macular dystrophy, and joked that the doctor told him, “You could go blind in the next year… or you might not.”

My wife and I met Glenn a few years ago in his radio studio and he was good enough to have us on the air for a while. Beck, and his whole staff for that matter, were among the nicest people I’ve ever met in the business, and I sincerely hope everything turns out okay for him.

Video here.

Hey, Glenn, don’t know if this would help you, but my Dad was diagnosed with macular degeneration by his eye doctor, who recommended a vitamin (I believe it’s called Ocuvite). Dad started taking it, and his eyes are still good – in fact, better then ever, since he had his cataracts removed and had corrective lenses implanted inside his eyes. My grandmother (his mother) lost her sight due to the same condition.

Prayers that Glenn will have ‘or you might not’ go blind. Our home loves Glenn and will always watch his Fox show and listen to his radio show. He has done so much, along with many others, letting us know what this bho and team are up to.

A while back, I discovered that my eyes improved after having a Redbull drink. The active ingredient which caused the improvement is Taurine, which can be purchased at any health food store.

Millions of people are praying for Glenn Beck. God has more for Glenn to do. There are a lot of things you can do for this disease and I am glad that Glenn has the resources to do them all. Now he just needs to take the time to take care of it!! I’m sure he is waiting until after 8/28, but maybe it is something that CAN’T wait. Like Moses, who wasn’t able to enter the promised land, maybe Glenn won’t be able to attend the 8/28 gathering. Hopefully that won’t be the case! I love him like a brother.

It is also a necessary additive to cat food, as they cannot synthesize it on their own. I actually had some difficulty getting my hands on it; several different drug stores and my local GNC didn’t have it in stock.

I always wonder about additional vitamins which is what Ocuvite is. I checked & it has the same vitamins that you will find in a “Silver” vitamin tablet. Should a person be taking MORE than a multi-vitamin? Can your body absorb any more? Can you overdose on vitamins?
(I take a multi, fish oil – cuz I hate fish & calcium)

My Dad doesn’t take any other vitamin supplements, and only started taking Ocuvite because his eye doc told him to.

Our family Gen Practitioner at that time, in fact, did not recommend vitimin pills for most people, and questioned my Dad about taking the Ocuvite.

    can you overdose on vitamins?

More like vitamin toxicity by taking to much of the fat soluble vitamins. The water soluble vitamins are not stored in the body so do not have the same issues. Taurine is an amino acid, not a vitamin.

I don’t know if Beck and Rush are friends at all, but Rush could probably give Beck some advice on dealing with this adversity, what with Rush’s hearing problem and all.

I don’t know a thing about Macular Dystrophy, as opposed to Macular Degeneration. My brother in law, some 20 years older than me, was suffering through the window getting smaller syndrome of his diagnosis with it when they found he had prostate cancer. Before he died he expressed his greatest fear was going blind. A PSA test, which the doctors charged for but was never done, had gone undetected for two years and made it’s ugly appearance in the pelvic bone. So, you fellas out there – please get those tests and make sure they’re done.

Prayers for Glenn Beck because I do enjoy him and so appreciate his dedication to exposing the truth. I’ve enjoyed him since his CNN days.

With Socialism on the march everywhere, it is hard to focus. While I don’t always agree with your approach to everything, I believe you provide a much needed counterpoint in the MSM. Please get well.

My Dad had Parkinson’s. He was greatly relieved when he was diagnosed with inoperable cancer.

Most of us fear helplessness and dependence much more than we fear death. Far more of the elderly put debilitating diseases like arthritis as the diseases they fear the most. Cancer trails badly. Heart disease isn’t even in the race.

Hell is not predictable agony. Hell is complete helplessness and deep dread with occasional unpredictable moments of shock and unbelievable horror.

Kind of like listening to Obama’s speeches.

My wife and I were at the show. Beck and speakers were a great inspiration.

He expressed gratitude to God for letting him use His (God’s) eyes for so long. He said that if God wanted them back, He could have them.

Judge Napolitano was fantastic. He is another Patrick Henry. And David Barton is an incredible resource of knowledge.

Amazing show. Even though it was some seven hours long I did not notice anyone leave early.

Glenn and his family are certainly in our prayers. I make sure his TV program gets recorded, and my wife and I watch it every night. He’s the most authentic host on television, in my opinion. He’s a strange mixture: part journalist, a big part historian, part commentator, a huge part patriot. I know where Glenn’s coming from, and I agree with him completely. My prayer for him is continued sight. I know he’ll have the vision regardless.
