Dealergate, social justice & the Obama job-killing machine; Update: The race factor

DUI: Driving under the influence…of Big Labor-pandering, left-wing radicals
My column today dives into the TARP special inspector general’s audit of the “Factors Affecting the Decisions of General Motors and Chrysler to Reduce Their Dealership Networks.” You can find it at the TARP OIG’s website here. I encourage you all to read through the entire 45-page report. The superficial MSM coverage of the audit, released late Sunday, didn’t do justice to the independent watchdog’s damning indictment of the arrogant bureaucrats in charge of nationalizing the U.S. auto industry — or the devastating consequences of politically-driven “shared sacrifice” with Obama, his SEIU cronies, and campaign lackeys behind the wheel.
Obama had the chutzpah to drag an unemployed car dealership employee laid off by Honda up on stage Monday to attack Republicans over government unemployment benefits. I suggest Republicans match him with a stage full of unemployed Chrysler and GM workers who lost their dealership jobs as a direct result of the capricious mandates of Obama’s non-expert auto experts.
A few trips back down memory lane before we get to the column: I’ve been hounding the Hayekian fatal conceit of Treasury’s TARP peddlers (under both Democrat and Republican administrations) from day one. And I’ve been hounding auto bailout supporters (both Democrat and Republican) since day one. Only the willfully blind and the woefully dumb couldn’t see what was coming.
Chicken Littles on Capitol Hill, I’m talking to you.
Update: William Tate notes the IG’s mention of the race factor (as well as gender) in protecting some dealerships.

Dealergate: Destroying Jobs in the Name of “Shared Sacrifice”

Everything you need to know about the nightmare of government-controlled businesses can be found in a damning new inspector general’s report on Dealergate. The independent review of how and why the Obama administration forced Chrysler and General Motors to oversee mass closures of car dealerships across the country reveals grisly incompetence, fatal bureaucratic hubris and Big Labor cronyism. No wonder you won’t hear much about the report’s in-depth details in the so-called mainstream media.
Under the guise of “saving” the American auto industry through a bipartisan, taxpayer-funded bailout now topping $80 billion, President Obama’s know-nothing bureaucrats pushed the car companies to eliminate thousands of jobs — with unjustified haste using dubious economic models.
Obama ordered the bailout recipients to “prove” their long-term viability by submitting restructuring plans. But White House and Treasury Department “experts” rejected the auto manufacturers’ proposals, citing the too-slow pace of their plans to reduce their dealership networks over a period of five years. Once the auto companies modified those plans to meet government-backed timelines, the money flowed.
But Neil Barofsky, the federal watchdog overseeing the bank-auto-insurance-all-purpose bailout fund, found that the White House auto industry task force and the Treasury Department “Auto Team” had no basis for ordering the expedited car dealership closure schedules. They relied on a single consulting firm’s internal report recommending that the U.S. companies adopt foreign auto industry models to increase profits — a recommendation hotly disputed by auto experts who questioned whether foreign practices could be applied to domestic American dealership networks.
Team Obama’s government auto mechanics also ignored the economic impact of rushing those closures. According to Barofsky, they discounted counter-testimony from industry officials that “closing dealerships in an environment already disrupted by the recession could result in an even greater crisis in sales.”
The inspector general also noted that “it is clear that tens of thousands of dealership jobs were immediately put in jeopardy as a result of the terminations by GM and Chrysler.” After extensive investigation, the watchdog concluded that “the acceleration of dealership closings was not done with any explicit cost savings to the manufacturers in mind.” Only after Capitol Hill critics — both Republican and Democrat — started questioning the Dealergate decisions did Obama’s auto “experts” come up with market studies and estimated job loss data to assess the impact of their reckless, arbitrary orders.
In sum, the inspector general found: “(A)t a time when the country was experiencing the worst economic downturn in generations and the government was asking its taxpayers to support a $787 billion stimulus package designed primarily to preserve jobs, Treasury made a series of decisions that may have substantially contributed to the accelerated shuttering of thousands of small businesses and thereby potentially adding tens of thousands of workers to the already lengthy unemployment rolls — all based on a theory and without sufficient consideration of the decisions’ broader economic impact.”
This is no surprise, of course, considering the amount of actual auto business expertise among Obama’s auto czars and key staff. That is: zero. Obama’s first auto czar, Steve Rattner, ran a private equity firm in New York before resigning his position amid a financial ethics cloud.
Rattner’s chief auto expert adviser, Brian Deese, is a 30-something former Hillary Clinton/Barack Obama campaign aide and law school grad with no business experience, who openly boasted that he “never set foot in an automotive assembly plant.”
And Rattner’s auto czar successor, Ron Bloom, is a far-left union lawyer who cut his teeth under Big Labor boss John Sweeney, has ideological ties to the corporate-hating Labor Zionist movement; and opined that “the blather about free trade, free-markets and the joys of competition is nothing but pabulum for the suckers.”
In search of the rationale for Team Obama’s bizarre, job-killing exercise of power over thousands of small car dealerships, the TARP inspector general may have stumbled onto the truth from Bloom. On page 33 of its report, Barofsky writes that “no one from Treasury, the manufacturers or from anywhere else indicated that implementing a smaller or more gradual dealership termination plan would have resulted in the cataclysmic scenario spelled out in Treasury’s response; indeed, when asked explicitly whether the Auto Team could have left the dealerships out of the restructurings, Mr. Bloom, the current head of the Auto Team, confirmed that the Auto Team ‘could have left any one component (of the restructuring plan) alone,’ but that doing so would have been inconsistent with the President’s mandate for ‘shared sacrifice.’”
“Social justice” chickens coming home to roost.

I agree with Tom Brown’s bottom line at Seeking Alpha:
“…the reason the auto companies were in trouble in the first place was that they’d been run into the ground by managements that had agreed to lavish their unionized workforces with uneconomic wage and benefit packages. The companies deserved to fail. (And remember that Ford, to its everlasting credit, has managed to survive without a federal lifeline.) Instead, GM and Chrysler are doomed to limp along as wards of the state, and will steadily hemorrhage jobs along the way. They’ll almost certainly end up as American versions of British-Leyland.If President Obama had really been interested in sustaining a prosperous auto industry that could create and sustain thousands of jobs, he would have allowed the companies to go through the normal bankruptcy process so that they could emerge with rational competitive labor-cost structures.”

Both Government Motors will languish. No one I know among my friends will ever buy a Government Motors vehicle… Their fate is sealed.
When I was driving from NC to Texas a few months ago, I was amazed by the number of ‘foreign’ auto plants located in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, etc. KIA, Hyundai, BMW, etc. You know that they have been given tax incentives to locate there and are employing thousands of non union labor. The only ‘union’ brand I will even consider is Ford because of the fact that their UAW local bought into the ‘Job 1′ program and have been successful in turning FMC around – no gov’t bailout. Otherwise it is a non union vehicle manufactured in the US – yes I know the profits go back to the home country but they re still employing US citizens and creating jobs – better than Obambi has done.
I was disappointed that the IG didn’t note the statistical anomaly of the high percentage of dealerships that were shuttered had also contributed to Republican candidates. Those who remained open were contributors to the Democrat Party and many to Obama.
When the numbers are skewed that dramatically, I’d think eyebrows would be raised immediately.
I could never figure out how independent, non-company owned dealerships could help or hinder Chrysler or GM’s bottomline. If sales were that bad locally, they would fail on their own just as any franchise would.
As with everything Obama, everything is politcal. I’m still amazed these cases of executive fiat have not been challenged and accelerated in the courts.
Excellent post, Michelle!
I remember Gretchen Carlson on Fox and Friends talking about her father’s dealership in Anoka, Minnesota being closed even though it was very successful and profitable. She was understandably upset and puzzled. Her family’s business that had been going for generations was wiped out by this corrupt government for no reason whatsoever. It had to be political! What other criteria would they have used? No one who made these decisions had any qualifications for what they did. This promises to be a HUGE scandal and will take years of investigation to sort out. But the bottom line is that Obama wanted the auto industry and he TOOK it!
I still find it hard to swallow that Honda had all those quality issues. Doesn’t pass the smell test. I also find it hard to believe the oil rig blew up by accident. Sorry…I know I sound like a conspiracy nut…but there are too many “crises” affecting industries that Obama has a “problem” with. I think we have a very evil bunch in power and they will stop at NOTHING to acheive their goals. This is their golden opportunity and they aren’t about to let it be wasted. If we can get past this year without a lot more damage, there is hope that we can do a giant exorsism on all of them.
When I was driving from NC to Texas a few months ago, I was amazed by the number of ‘foreign’ auto plants located in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, etc. KIA, Hyundai, BMW, etc.

Not to mention Toyota. Don’t let anyone tell you that there is such a thing as a “foreign-made” car anymore; they all have plants and dealerships here and employ American workers.
Slightly OT, but Kirsten Powers just got her blonde booty handed to her by Bill O’Rielly last night in another debate about the Black Panther issue as well as Van Jones, etc. I almost feel sorry for the girl (almost). She just can’t hack it against people who have the facts and use common sense.
‘shared sacrifice.’ Code for: “We’re coming for the middle class cash. We won. Get used to it peasants.”
This Marxian Scialist malarkey is straight from the black hole of failed
19th century redistributionist theory. We have got to have articulate Conservative and free market Libertarian advocates stand up and lead a war on these destroyers. We have the truth on our side.
Where are the leaders? Do we have any? We need more than Bachman, Palin, and Sessions doing Sunday shows. If the legacy Republican “leaders” in Congress don’t rise up and take the reins soon then they much be swept aside.
muchmustwith Obama, it’s never about what’s best for the country. It’s always about seeing how much power he can impose on people without people noticing.
It should have been obvious that the dealers gave the auto companies market share. Dealers work on commission and not union wages so Obama wanted to punish them.
With Obama it isn’t about doing the right thing. As he said, it’s about finding out who’s ‘ass to kick’. Sounds like a bully to me. . . especially when they guy talking about kicking asses has a button for a nuclear bomb within arms reach. Fortunately for the rest of the world, Obama doesn’t consider anyone but Americans to be enemies of his.
Just after Megyn Kelly took ther head off a couple of days ago on he same issue.
(Google: Megyn Kelly + Kirsten Powers)
The Republican Party leaves a lot to be desired in the backbone department. Calling on shut down dealerships to counter Obama’s charges of unemployment would require more spine then our country club, nice guy Republicans have. Look at how they rush to help with Obama’s kill jobs legislation. You always hear them say, “my good friends on the other side of the aisle”. Those good friends are killing this country, and the Republicans are helping them. It’s time we threw them all out of office
It seems that everytime a piece of Obama legislation or a questionable policy is issued, a crisis emerges to take the focus off the topic at hand.
1. Black Panther case and the DOJ – NAACP calls the Tea Party rascist.
2. Cap N Trade bill – BP oil leak.
3. Illegal immigration discussions – villifying of Arizona law.
4. Take over of the auto industry and union involvment – Toyota is demonized heavily.
5. Financial/Banking caused in part by Congress and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac – financial industry demonized and portrayed as a crisis.
There are probably many more examples but the libs have figured out how stupid the population is by diverting their attention away from the skulduggery they are about to commit.
So, the next time a crisis comes about, look around and see what these socialists want you to not focus on.

She was being too reasonable and they wanted her to be more like Alan Colmes. So, in order to keep her job, she went into a left-wing spin mode. This is out of character for her and she is selling out to keep her job. Mark my words. I predict she will leave FOX soon as it gets harder and harder to her to be put down all the time. No one enjoys being the whipping post and I assume she has some pride.

You couldn’t pay me enough money to be like Alan Colmes – just sayin’. My hand has a funny reaction when he is on and starts talking; my finger hits the mute button.
The policy of dealership closures was misguided. Think McDonalds and Starbucks. The more outlets the more opportunity to sell your product.
“. . . the arrogant bureaucrats in charge of nationalizing the U.S. auto industry . . . “
There was no ‘nationalizing’ of the US auto industry. Ford was not involved. Any suggestion of nationalization remains an exaggerration to solicit emotional responses.
As Chrysler was helped by the Federal Government so many years ago, Chrysler and GM were helped this time around. Unfortunately, this time around the help was poorly executed. (Yep, the Stimulus and Tarp were poorly executed, as well. The S&L crisis as dealt with using the RTC was better executed.)
It is less the ‘what’ than the ‘how’. We are a good people and a great country, and sometimes we suffer from our good deeds having negative consequences. Help? Absolutely. It is what we do. At home and abroad. How we help is where this Administration failed.
Finally, why is it so important what other media outlets cover and don’t cover? Not every media outlet (or, BLOG) covers everything a single individual would like to see.
Who is covering what is happening in the Republic of Georgia right now?
Yeah, that pretty much covers the House and Senate.
Two out of three ain’t exactly non nationlization of the US auto industry. Any suggestion of minimalizing nationalization remains an exageration to solicit a wickup side your head!
oops missing an a and a g in there.
Hey zzzzzzzzzzz, I see your head is still in your arse. The masses and masses of American citizens don’t delve into the issues and watch FOX News like we do. The other media must inform them. Otherwise, who will? See, they are purposely keeping the minions in the dark. Why? I think we all have figured that out by now. All except you, apparently.
Per latest polling — Obama approval rating slipping to 44%.
Your implicit admission that the US Auto industry has not been nationalized demonstrates growth on your part in accepting truth and facts.
When we finally drive Obama and his nest of fascists out of office, lets start cleaning things up by driving out the unions from government jobs. They have no place in the 21st century.
I stopped buying American cars a long time ago.
Dealerships receive a lot of financial assistance from the manufacturers. Comparing them to any other franchise is not apples to apples.
There is a huge difference between a loan and a complete restructuring.
If you have to ask that question, then you wouldn’t understand the answer.
You will never see stuff like this on “60 Minutes”.
Ummmm, what has Fox news recently reported on the Republic of Georgia?
Would it be intellectually honest to say that, Fox News (or, a specific BLOG)will not cover what is happening in the Republic of Georgia?
It is always a good thing to have multiple sources. Agree, or disagree?
That way, a person interested in what is happening in the Republic of Georgia will be able to get that information since (name a media oulet or BLOG) will not cover it.
Starbucks has closed many of its retail stores. Have you ever heard of cannibalization? Try again.
Untrue. The industry might not have been completely nationalized, but the auto industry has absolutely been nationalized compared to what it was prior to this administration.
You’re wrong. The “help” wasn’t simply poorly executed. The help was a destructive idea from the start.
Now tell us that the Soviet Union was a good idea that was simply poorly executed.
No, it’s very much the “what.” Don’t ignore that the “what” is socialism.
Good intentions are different than good deeds. Good intentions are absolutely no excuse for destructive policy.
Because of the impact on the national debt, and the negative impact on the economy.
Of course you would think it was strange if a major media outlet ignored 9-11.
Interesting that you use that example. The major media outlets sure screwed up that coverage purposefully during the 2008 campaign.
Oh I agree totally! Heaven forbid you should run low on Angel Dust and LSD!
Currency TAX!?!@##?
The great Pete Stark (raving mad) from CA wants a currency tax to pay for….wait for it….wait for it…
1. investments in children
2. global health
3. climate change mitigation.
While all these clowns are he!! bent on burying us with regulation, just how do they intend to enforce all this? They might as well build the labor camps now while they have stimulus funds. There is a point when their plan collapses under its own weight. Everything they touch is turning to sh!t.
Very well, then it should have been up to the manufacturer to decide which dealerships they will support, or not support, and not the Government.
Did you miss, or simply ignore, my saying it is about the execution of the policy. Paraphrasing, that no good deed goes unpunished. S&L was done well. TARP was done poorly. First Chrysler rescue was done well. Second Chrysler (and first GM) rescue was done poorly.
When you respond to a question with a conditional statement, then you have no answer.
I agree with happyscrapper – too many “incidents” to be accidents. “Never let a crisis go to waste (make it worse if necessary”. And now they are trying to stir up race wars between the Blacks & Hispanics against whitey. I really am scared. I think we are doomed & don’t think we can do much about it. My husband says there may be a revolution. I fear they will crush us. Look what the Gov did to native Americans, they would do the same to us. I am sorry to be such a defeatist, but I think it could happen.
I have a Chevy HHR. I LOVE it. However, it will be my last GM car.
I’m thinking of putting a blue oval over the bowtie.
I went to my lawyer’s office last evening to finalize my estate planning. It was her opinion that the estates would be capped at 1 million dollars with a 40% to 60% tax on anything beyond that. That may sound like a bunch until you look at what a small business or farm entails. This will surely be the end of small business and farms, because you will lose the capital required to keep the business running everytime the owner dies. WELCOME TO THE COMMUNIST NATION OF AMERICA.
I agree, zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Unfortunately, most people only watch the MSM, which PURPOSELY ignores anything that is critical of this administration and the corruption therein. Therefore, most people know nothing of what is going on in DC. The truth has not been told. Most people are completely in the dark because they only get their news from those sources. My sister claims she is totally informed. But she watches only ABC, NBC or CBS. She doesn’t have the internet and reads only our local leftist newspaper, the Minneapolis Star. Any time I bring up a current event, she has no idea what I am talking about. Yeah, real informed. A corrupt media will be the death of this country. But you can’t see that, can you? Why am I not surprised?
Probably neither. I’m sure he knows that you’re 100% wrong.
You can’t compare FDIC payouts with the auto industry bailout.
One is the federal government making good on an important promise to the American people and the other is the nationalization of an industry.
I won’t buy one because they are a big contributor to la ratza!
The GM and Chrysler bailouts were not designed to help these companies. The objective was to save UAW jobs and help the UAW seize control of these companies.
Don’t believe me? Ask a GM or Chrsler bondholder. If a private group had done what Obama did they would be in a Federal prison.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124355299610364475.html
Actually Communism would imply the people at least get the rewards. Obama and his Chicago cronies have no intention of sharing it. It is a ruling elite of fascists.
I can just throw away my old dvd of “BRAZIL” because it is re-releasing right now in real life.
But it probably doesn’t mention that every competitor of one of Mack McLarty’s franchises lost their franchise.
LOL.
This is where we’re headed under this incompetent administration:
“Researchers outside China, however, generally agree that massive institutional and policy changes which accompanied the Great Leap Forward were the key factors in the famine.[3] Since the 1980s there has been greater official Chinese recognition of the importance of policy mistakes in causing the disaster, claiming that the disaster was 30% due to natural causes and 70% by mismanagement.”
“Unofficial estimates vary, but scholars have estimated the number of famine victims to be between 20 and 43 million.”

What could go wrong?
http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2006/10mar_stormwarning/
And why:
http://awareness-2009.blogspot.com/2010/07/solar-katrina-storm-that-could-take-our.html
“Once installed, the surge protector system should be capable of preventing at least 70%-75% of space weather-related power grid failures in the event we were hit by the equivalent of the great geomagnetic storms of 1859 and 1921. Such protection would mean the difference between major inconvenience and societal collapse. In 2008, the surge suppressor program was recommended to Congress by Electromagnetic Pulse Commission which, as noted, has since lost its funding.”
Holy Toledo! You answered a direct question. Not only that but you agree with me. Your growth is truly a positive thing.
Nope. All media outlets have taken this Administration to task over one thing or another. Yep, even Olberman has challenged the Administration on ocaission.
Then wouldn’t the opposite also be true? Anyone getting their news from a single source, say Fox News, be in the dark, too?
Have you discussed what is happening in the Republic of Georgia with your sister? Are you getting the information you need from Fox News on the subject to adequately inform her? Or, is Fox News not covering the Republic of Georgia?
That is why you agree with me about multiple sources.
A bit over the top and hyperbolic. Dan Rather was caught fabricating news and I remain hopeful that ultimately all false, mischaracterized and misleading stories will be called out. Yep, it is happening again as we speak. Brietbart is the new Dan Rather.
My point is that if you don’t presently understand why it’s a problem for the press to ignore stories based on agenda, then you are mentally incapable of understanding the explanation.
But so you can say you got an answer:
The press acts as an oversight for government abuses. This is why freedom of the press is included in the Constitution. A press that is controlled by the government will manipulate public opinion to the detriment of the populace and the benefit of those in power. A press that is complicit due to ideology is effectively helping to mislead the people by failing to provide the necessary oversight.
Obama is the new Roosevelt!
If people don’t buy the Gubmint Motors cars, maybe he’ll have the government buy up thousands of the cars and destroy them to prop up the price for the manufacturers. Just like Roosevelt did with hogs and cheese.
/yeesh!
Bill O’Reilly’s Talking Points memo from last night was SPOT ON regarding this subject. If that’s posted on O’Reilly’s site, take a look at it. It addresses your point very well.
The one thing I noticed missing from this report is any mention of how the bond holders were mistreated in the whole deal.
A broken clock is right twice per day. It’s silly (and beyond condescending) for you to say that someone is growing simply because your broken clock happened to be right for a moment today.
Why would I discusss the Republic of Georgia with my sister? That is not of current interest to me at this time and it certainly isn’t to her either. There are other things much more important, in case you didn’t know. Like a corrupt fascist government and a coup taking place as we speak. This is an urgent and serious issue.
Right on, corkie! Thanks for stating it so well. I seldom agree with zzzzzzzz on anything. He is usually pretty far off base. But once in a while, when I agree with some part of his comment, I will acknowledge it.
We have already seen the oppression that the current regime can wreak, and if you think that is distasteful, just wait and see what happens next.
The signing of this bill will enable unelected bureaucrats to write regulations to circumvent current law that obstructs their plans for domination. I don’t think I’m exaggerating this point.
Imagine a police officer, holding a signed search warrant, with no details of what the search looking for. The policeman looks everywhere he want to, without justification, until he finds something he thinks is suspicious, and then he writes that into the warrant.
Or, a public official sees something he wants, lets say a ‘cash cow’ business which is run under the letter of the law, and the official wants a piece of the action. He, under this law, can write himself into the cash stream of the business, legally. No oversight; no appeal.
Illegal you say? Understand this; it is only illegal if the law says it’s illegal. When laws are written to allow this type of abuse, which are constitutionally unlawful, and you have a justice department that will not file on behalf of the taxpaying citizenry, that law becomes legal.
The signing of this bill is the final step in the administration’s trek to tyranny. Everything the progressive movement has worked for is coming to fruition, and we are now living in a new form of government; American Totalinarianism!
Watch what happens now to those who dissent. In order to fulfill the socialist dream of total domination, the elimination of personal property, and the Communist concept of “Your rights are what I say they are,” those pulling the strings behind Obama, NEED pushback, public demonstration, and…ANARCHY…you know, a “CRISIS.” This will allow them to crack down on those opposed to their will, and invoke martial law.
Our votes have never been more important this November. Expect political shenanigans in an effort to delay the inevitable…we need look no farther than the socialist countries to our south to see what comes next.
Yes, vote this November and get the Dimwits out of office, or you may never be able to vote again.
We won’t buy Chevys made after 2008.
RE: Ms. Powers
If that’s the case, she’s lower than low.
But, I don’t think she’s sharp enough to keep up that ruse for very long.
I’m yet to understand the principle by which someone who has more, owes more, or because some have less, the government has a duty to take from some and give it to others.

Race played a role in dealer closings
http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/07/race_played_role_in_obama_car.html
You are exactly right, Michelle. Several dealership owners were interviewed by local TV after they were lopped off by GM and Chrysler. All had proof they were profitable, though some sold just 100 or so cars a year. All had numerous employees with families who would lose their jobs. None of this mattered to the eggheads and beancounters making the decisions.
Both the unions and manufacturers colluded in these massacres. The union goals were obvious: political power and more control over the manufacturers via seats on the boards. The manufacturers have for years been pushing smaller dealerships out of business in favor of mega-dealerships, and this allowed them to claim they were forced into it by the feds, which they were, but it didn’t take much ‘force’ when the manufacturers wanted it, anyhow.
Leftists moaned about “corporate welfare” for years during conservative administrations, but Obama & Co. have spent multi-billions more than every conservative administration in recent memory on precisely that objective, except they’ve done it under the guise of “not letting crises go to waste,” as Rahm Emanuel put it.
Panic has arrived as the truth gets exposed. The social justice/marxist crowd is having trouble controlling the message. Bho chose to ignore the real problems facing the nation while he figured out how to leverage them to implement his power/control grab. His lack of maturity and thinned skinned nature causes him to over react when he is forced to face the truth. Character matters! To bad he doesn’t have any. How sad it is to have the first black POTUS be an American hating marxist, driven to destroy the country. Too bad that collection of utopian idealists colluded to stack the deck in favor of their candidate. At some point they will feel the sting of the very policies they helped pass. They sacrificed their credibility, their souls and their country for a happy dance the night of the election.
Thank you Plymouthacclaim for mentioning mercy. Social justice is being mistaken for mercy.
While it “looks good” on paper, the real underlying principle is that those who get to tell those who have more to pay up will be exempt from having to share the wealth, so to speak. They will be exempt, as leaders of the push for “equalization.” They will become the ruling class. Those who had nothing, but are receiving something, will then become the “have’s” and will have to pay out to some other “have not’s”.
This isn’t that far off, folks.
